Just as clarification, embedding the lut doesn’t burn the look into the clip. Clip will still be raw. Lut embed just drops the preview lut into a folder on your SD so when you hand off to your editor the lut you used to live preview is chilling right there.

Purchased my Fx30 yesterday, and I am super geeked. Thanks for this video, I set it up as you've shown. The only thing, I had my number 1 button set to open my quick menu, but now its gone. I wish I could've kept it that way. I gotta change it back, but I'm not sure why I changed in the first place.
This is a great little camera, excellent performance in available / low lighting levels. Don’t get that on Red & ARRI. What you do get on the aforementioned is a great usability/ user experience design. No clutter in the top layers of the interface - extremely easy & fast to use. This is where Sony really lacks with this camera & This video helped me lots in getting the Sony running - because for me it’s quite complicated to set up (mainly because of the UI.) - so thanks again for making learning this camera easy 💪
Hey I had seen another video and adopted the settings on my FX30 for "cinematic recordings" and now it shows me that Cine Ei is not available and other settings are also not available. Do you know which setting causes this to happen?
Honestly since CINE EI is the best way to utilize the best out of this camera, I always use it (and the change in workflow has been surprisingly great!). I'd say Flexible ISO is geared towards people who are either used to exposing the Alpha series cameras or want to get the job done but CINE EI is a great way to help us expose SLOG3 footage. I'm in love with the FX30 again because of this video and I have no doubts of buying this camera! (Joke lang meron akong doubts kasi lowlight situations are bad...) Great video again Kuya Victor!

man, the white balance speed is game changing for me, just found it on the A7IV, I shoot a lot of auto white balance and have a custom button to lock the white balance, Weddings bro, no chance im setting a custom white balance, In Australia we are always fighting the green shade tint, and just setting the white balance to 5500K doesn't work at all, too much in post.
I'm a Flexible ISO type of guy, but I may have to start using Cine EI! Sometimes I find myself accidentally setting my 2nd base ISO to 3200 on the FX30 because I'm so used to using the A7IV! Then I have to quickly catch myself and drop it back down to 2500 hehe.
I love my actual kit but yeah, start saving for that FX-30 is what I'm doing. Cine EI is something that looks so great and useful for quality and a run n gun kind of type. Would love to give it a try.

Great video! I have two questions 1. How much bitrate does S-I have compared to other formats? 2 I recently discovered that I had to import LUT from the SD-card to Premiere because all of my clips looked pale after I recorded with 709 (800%). How does this work? Do I have to import LUT from the card in order to make it work? Because on display from the camera I can clearly see that the image is more colored, but when I watch the clips directly from the computer, the colors aren't' there. I have recorded a lot by using 709 (800%) but I never imported that LUT because I thought that setting was already in the clip. I later tried to apply the LUT and mixed with other LUTs, looked more washed off or overexposed. Maybe Slog3 is a better choice?
S-I has a lot more bit rate compared to the other formats you can compare it when you select the bit rates. 2nd is that the LUTs never get burnt into the image it’s only for reference so you’ll always get slog3 format which is the washed out look. There’s a lot of slog3 color grading videos including mine and you can get your colours into normal rec.709 footage when you convert your slog3 files while grading.

I am very new to this camera, just got it last week. My background is ENG cameras, and this is quite different. I'm having a hard time understanding a couple of things, for example, what is the difference between Cine EI and turning the log off and using PP11, for example? Great video! I am learning a lot, and so far I am very happy with this camera.
Cine EI will get you to shoot in the SLOG color space which will give you the best dynamic range for the fx30 but you have to grade it in post to make sure it gets the best image. Exposing the image is different too for SLOG shooting! The PP11 with LOG off is something that's easy to shoot. Expose normally and you get a good looking image and good colours off the bad without doing much in post. The downside is that there's less dynamic range but it still looks great!

Nope! It’s only showing you a preview of what it would look like with that rec709 lut. It’ll still be slog3 when you edit it! You’ll see a big difference between the two.

Many have you set the camera 100% manual which is great but I'm still learning. Any recommendations for indoor light, fluorescent and fast action like Taekwondo? I think you can keep the shutter at 1/50 for that motion blur if you’re shooitng 24fps! It’ll look more movie like vs TV high shutter look but yeah 2500 and open aperture should work! If it’s enough light, switch back into 800 but feel free to see what works best!
@@drthompson65 OH yeah for stills, you can stop the action with 1/800. It'll be hard to get a usable shots at 1/50. I was mostly thinking about video. Also for photos especially raw, you can increase the ISO more as it doesn't follow the Base ISOs of SLOG3. I've gotten decent photos at 6400 ISO. Maybe denoise in post as well.

I wouldn't doubt that the algorithm is that smart!!! 😂 I got into it by just shooting modded cars for fun. People wanted more and got paid gigs. From there on I went from small car dealership jobs > manufacturing / corporate > product videos > fashion / beauty. I did some weddings, events, etc. in between but just never liked them.

Yes, get the white balance for key light first with a grey card and then turn on the RGB. This will get rid of the RGB spill when you're trying to catch the WB. For RGB lighting I usually stick to 5600K to begin with. There's a lot of mixtures you need to be aware of and you can test out how WB works on different colours but it's quite complicated but the more you use it and play with it, the better you understand how it shifts things in terms of RGB! I hope that makes sense!

that's normal, you won't get true 24 / 60 fps unless you're rocking a higher end cinema camera. Most mirrorless cameras used 23.976 or 59.94. Just how they developed digital framerates... We got lucky with the 2.0 update as we got true 4k 24p on the fx30!
Great video ! I’m just wondering if you notice that the lcd screen has weird vertical pixel lines across the screen when filming bright colors like red , yellow and orange ? Or maybe it’s just my copy…
@@VictorLaforteza it’s been on s709 and it’s less apparent but I can still see the vertical lines. But it’s more visible with 709(800). However the footage is perfectly fine when playback on computer.
Typically digital cameras can only record 23.98 that’s why when the true 24 fps came out from the update everyone was happy. Typically true 24fps is only seen in higher end cine cams. If you don’t see the 24 fps check if you have the 4K DCI option.

depends on what you shoot but hands down FX30 will get you by for years!! ZV-E10 is limited in a lot of ways for pro work. You can still do it for pro work but you might want to future proof yourself.

It’s a nod to where I’m from and I’m currently putting myself in the Taiwanese culture because of my partner. I don’t have an identity crisis and I am aware it maybe happening to other Filipinos all around the globe. If you’ve been to Canada, you’ll see that the whole Canadian identity is multicultural. Why don’t I have other subtitles? Time and audience.This isn’t my full time job & most people who watch my videos are in the US and UK.

US cameras show 24p where European(UK at least) show 23.9, there is some reason for this I cant remember but its the same for all intents and purposes@@VictorLaforteza

gotta be careful with that!! it won't be too drastic if you accidentally go off the base ISOs but it does help give it a better look!

Embed LUT file doesn't apply the LUT to your footage. It applies the meta data for your editing software

which SD card do you suggest using, that isn’t like over 150 dollars. but you can still use decent settings.
you could try v60 cards, they are cheaper than v90! would work most of FX30's formats

0.0 to 0.7 at 400 EI!

You can use others but it’s not gonna give you the best dynamic range and noise values. You can try it out and see the results!

Yes, absolutely! I'd say try cine4! or you can try the S-Cinetone settings for the zv-e10!! looks decent off the bat and you dont need to color grade!

If you use the XAVC S-I then yes. but the others aren't too much larger.

that's normal, you won't get true 24 / 60 fps unless you're rocking a higher end cinema camera. Most mirrorless cameras used 23.976 or 59.94. Just how they developed digital framerates... We got lucky with the 2.0 update as we got true 4k 24p on the fx30!

i dont know if you get this issue on the A7IV, but whenever i switch from P/A/S/M mode to flexible or vice versa, i lose all my button configurations

Great video ! I’m just wondering if you notice that the lcd screen has weird vertical pixel lines across the screen when filming bright colors like red , yellow and orange ? Or maybe it’s just my copy…
hmmmmm I noticed some weird colours or artefacts when it's on 709(800%) but on s709, super smooth. Does it happen on any modes?
@@VictorLaforteza it’s been on s709 and it’s less apparent but I can still see the vertical lines. But it’s more visible with 709(800). However the footage is perfectly fine when playback on computer.

I have a HUGE question I see my frame rate option are decimals like 23.98, is this because the sd card?
Typically digital cameras can only record 23.98 that’s why when the true 24 fps came out from the update everyone was happy. Typically true 24fps is only seen in higher end cine cams. If you don’t see the 24 fps check if you have the 4K DCI option.

depends on what you shoot but hands down FX30 will get you by for years!! ZV-E10 is limited in a lot of ways for pro work. You can still do it for pro work but you might want to future proof yourself.

have you updated it? you also need to change it to 4k DCI 24p

@@Filmmakers_N potentially but is should be able to switch manually on the lens (and then on the camera settings itself). I haven't used that combo since the a6300 so I'm not sure how it affects the FX30 sorry!

You’re able to with a v90 SD card but not specific high frame rates. Super expensive ya.. lol

It’s a nod to where I’m from and I’m currently putting myself in the Taiwanese culture because of my partner. I don’t have an identity crisis and I am aware it maybe happening to other Filipinos all around the globe. If you’ve been to Canada, you’ll see that the whole Canadian identity is multicultural. Why don’t I have other subtitles? Time and audience.This isn’t my full time job & most people who watch my videos are in the US and UK.

Why my camera shows frame rate 59.5 , 23.9 & 119.9 ?
That’s what it’s usually is for cameras nowadays. True 24p or others are present in higher end cinema cams
US cameras show 24p where European(UK at least) show 23.9, there is some reason for this I cant remember but its the same for all intents and purposes@@VictorLaforteza
