I rarely ever comment on YT vids but you are probably one of the only real filmmakers that i trust on YT. Your ability to shoot such great video whilst working with a somewhat affordable setup for the average filmmaker is so refreshing. Thank you!

There’s so much noise and focus on having so much gear nowadays, it’s refreshing to hear filmmakers like yourself push for just getting out there and shooting and making a lot with a little! Congratulations on the film release, can’t wait to see it!
Adam Audio speakers are SUPER quality speakers and in the music production scene are like the speakers EVERYONE wants in their studios. What makes them different is the tweeter is not a cone tweeter like most speakers, it's a ribbon tweeter. The best way to describe what that means is they have a nice high end roll of. They are much more expensive, but sound absolutely pleasant. I learned the hard way theyre not great for mixing/mastering music because you over compensate for that high end roll of so your final master ends up sounding WAYY too bright on other speakers, but for listening? MY goodness theyre amazing. Removes ear fatigue from long hours of listening
The end shot with the gear closet wide open is so goddamn relatable. I also take a pretty "if it works it works" approach and I think youtubers typically glamorize organization and high end gear but at the end of the day what matters is boots on the ground getting footage. great stuff!
It's not talked about a ton online but when it comes to filters I've liked the Hollywood Black Magic. It is more expensive than the Tiffen ones but I find the bloom to be more controlled while still smoothing out skin tones and not ruining the contrast of the image. It might be worth trying out for anyone that's looking for a filter of this type.
@@DannyGevirtz good stuff! Looking forward to seeing what you'll produce this year! Interestingly, most of your setup mirrors closely what I have currently.

Love seeing what your working with in 2024. Huge fan and fellow Philadelphian. You have been one of my inspirations for the last few years and cant wait to se ITIS. Last year I restarted my little video production company as a legit LLC even though I had no projects out of pre-production last year was me incorporating and investing what funds I could from my day job at the IRS. 5 years ago I had lost all my equipment and was devastated because it was two BMPCC 4k and supporting equipment and was pretty much going to quit. I started doing this right out of high school as I working for several independent pro wrestling companies as a in ring talent but would offer my services with two of my best friends. This was before the big NLE boom. VHS Panasonic, one or two Sony HI-8's and a Panasonic AV mixer coupled with three vcrs and three monitors. I plan on purchasing a new Camera this year as I was on a wrestling show shoot for a friend a few weeks ago and the cameras I had are a little older had the prior to the BMPCC's but My Canon T6i Overheated and one of the batteries got stuck during the shoot. I want to break away from Pro Wrestling. I have adhd so I have like 4-5 film and tv series partially written. So thank you for all the videos and inspiration.
Dude so excited to finally be able to watch your feature in the near future! Also im totally with you on keeping things simple. I often find that having too much gear can be overwhelming and you end up with less creative/effective solutions to issues on set😅
Someone in the comments recommended this plug in on resolve that basically just lets you pick whichever filter you want and it looks good but very pricey. Considering it
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts here Danny and for the update. Wishing you a prosperous 2024. Excited to see your feature film once it’s available.
Back to Solo Danny G! Excited to see it man. It's going to be awesome seeing you take your feature skills back into the solo world. Keep crushing it man!
My kind of guy. Keep it simply when you can. The FX3 is a beast, and sometimes 1 light is all you need at a shoot. Keep it simple, and you'll enjoy this work more often. The more gear to set up, maintain, and think about, the more headache for me.
Inspiring stuff dude. Keeping it simple and achievable for most of us solo shooters out there. I need to find your videos on creative process for ideas for projects again.
Very cool setup. I, guilty enough, suffer from Gear Acquisition Syndrome lol because there's so much good high quality gear out there for so many purposes. We as filmmakers are very spoiled tbh but it's such a breath of fresh air seeing someone who's not trying to "look cool" or is trying to show off how crazy expensive their prime lens collection is (though having an FX3 does help haha). It's sort of a kind of validation for all of us that you don't need the newest, slickest, most high tech thing that everyone else is using in order to make something impactful. You, Danny, focus on quality rather than quantity and gear that only supports your vision and your storytelling, which is exactly why I subscribed to you 2 years ago and am inspired by you to this day.
Wow, I've boiled it down to the almost same rig! I've been reassured by all the successful projects I've done with it, but its always nice to see it confirmed by a seasoned filmmaker. FX3 on rods with v-mount, monitor and shotgun, Sony XLR handle, 20mm 1.8 + zoom, even down to the RS2 and black satin (YES). Although I went with the 24-105mm as I've prioritized the reach over the stop of light. Wish you the same flawless versatility I've had!
Thanks for sharing Danny! I just love how you keep everything as simple as possible and how genuine you are when you share! Thanks for being a huge inspiration. Love you
I know you're not a gear guy but love seeing these from time to time because it reinforces that mastery of equipment is 99% greater than a wide variety of equipment. Sure we all want everything at our disposal but of course many of us are "one-man-bands" and small crews so efficency in gear is more of a priority and maximizing the gear is a greater strength! I too have an FX3 and love it but have been considering getting an FX6...
With the exception of timecode, BNC, and internal ND's, the FX3 has it all! Although, the internal ND's are super clutch (i've used the fx6 a few times and it's a game changer how it can really allow to be precise on your exposure without sacrificing shutter or aperture) Also, rumor has it that a mark ii may be coming out this year...@@DannyGevirtz
