- www.sportdog.com - Category Manager Clay Thompson walks you through changing the modes on your SportDOG Brand 425 (SD-425). Changing the mode on your transmitter allows you to customize your training experience. This video also applies to the FieldTrainer 425S, WetlandHunter 425CAMO and SportHunter 825 systems (SD-425S, SD-425CAMO, SD-825).

this seems unnecessarily complicated
It's terrible
I'm on my 3rd in 2 years. I went to a pet safe but someone stole the transmitter. It worked better than the sport dog . If your dog is already well trained the sport dog system is not necessary. For 200 I should at least get 4 years out of a collar. I'm gonna give them one more try..but I have had nothing but trouble with them. Mabey I just got 2 defective systems. If this one screws up I will be done with the. Kinda already regret not getting the petsafe again..oh well ..praying for gut shots and fresh tracks..have a blessed day.
Great tutorial. Thank you!
Thank you sportdog, great tutorial.
I just bought the 425x but when I do the mode button nothing happens. And the side button is not doing tone only. - all three buttons do whatever the dial is set to. Is mine defective?
Does this work with the 425xs?
I've had mine for 3 years and couldnt figure out how to make it vibrate. Only tones and shocks. Glad I saw this!
I still don't understand how to make it vibrate!
We're sorry to hear you've had difficulty setting the mode on your remote trainer, Larry. So that we can best assist you with your specific situation, please contact our Customer Care team directly.

What's the difference between Mode 5 and 6?
What's the benefit of using mode 5 or 6 when mode 1 or 2 seem to fully incorporate 5 & 6? (Just don't press the side button and it's the same functionality)
Mode 3 and 4 are identical on the diagram. I think there's a typo
My remote not flash. I press on the buttom but nothing.
Does anyone have a tip on changing the litter rubber seal on the remote???
I got them in the box but can't figure it out !
Thank you for this question. To replace the mud-plugs for the SD-425/SD-425S Remote Transmitter, you must remove the screws and open the device. Once you have done so, the old mud-plugs can be slid up and out of the device, and then the new ones can be slid in instead.
**** YOU HAVE TO PRESS THE LITTLE BUTTON WAY FURTHER IN THAN U WOULD THINK! I thought mine was broken lol, a pen won’t go in far enough you need to use a nail or sm
Haha thank you, the nail was what was needed!
K, so I have done all these steps. Now do I leave it on the number 4, if so how do I change the level of intensity? If I take it off of the #4 does it change the mode? I'm so confused....someone help me please.
Hey Teresa. Once you set the mode you can move the intensity dial to level you need for your dog. To set the mode you'll place the dial on the number of the mode you want and press the button on the back of the remote. You should see the remote blink (on the front) the number you have set the dial to. Now the remote is in that mode and you can move the dial as needed.
If you have the SD-425, mode 4 would place the remote in multi-dog mode with vibrate when the dial is on V/T. Now you'll want to pair your collars to their own buttons. If you have more questions, please give us a call at 1-800-275-6797.
I had to use the tine on the buckle, a pen won't go in far enough to change the mode
Thank you so much!! I was about call customer service because nothing was working until I saw your comment. It worked! Thanks again...
Why does the collar flash red when I press the remote button? Shouldn't flash green when pressed? Clay Thompson?
If the collar flashes red, it is because the battery is low and needs to be recharged.
Same with mine and battery light green when on charger
For the future, can yall consider making a collar that ONLY uses different vibrations and tones, instead of the 'static/stimulation'?? I am training a service dog and need a remote collar to help train a dog for off leash work. I would be willing to buy immediately and even test it. I currently have the 425xs system (when I bought the system I did not realize I bought the collar specifically for large or stubborn dogs. As that is not really needed at this time.).
I am training a Lab as a service dog using the 425 and I like the #2 stim setting for her. But most of the time she is on Beep and Vibrate....
I love having that option
Hey I'm having a problem with my collar can anyone help please. . It beeps but won't shock. Is there a mode with only beep and no shock? Or do I potentially have a bigger issue
Steven same here
Hey Steven. To better troubleshoot your issue, please give us a call at 1-800-275-6797.
To answer as best we can on here, there is not a mode that the collar will only beep when using different buttons and moving the dial. There is a mode where the side button will only deliver a beep but the buttons on the front should deliver a vibrate or shock depending on what the dial is set to.
Mine won’t vibrate
My 425 controller flashes red and green while I put it to charge and it doesn’t turn on after 2 hrs of charging
My 425x is factory set to 5. According to the Manuel
My collar shocks and tones but wont vibrate, no matter the mode its set to
same with mine
Same here I can’t figure out for shit!!!
Me too no vibration
@@dalsam33 did you figure it out
Does this shock or only vibrate?
Thank you for your question. Our remote trainer systems offer the ability to provide either static, vibration, or tone stimulations as needed.
@@SportDOGBrand mine won’t vibrate on tone and shock
The best never fail... my dog just see the collar and shut the mouth....
worst advice I can ever get.
Super unhelpful
Horrible manuals and not enough info. BRAND NEW and NO VIBRATION. NO BELT CLIP as shown in advertisement. WHY NOT JUST CHARGE US MORE AND GIVE ALL FEATURES ????
Hey Wayne, I'm very sorry the collar you have did not meet your expectations and for the frustration this has caused. Unless the collar you have is a YardTrainer, it should have vibration. Please give Customer Care a call to assess if you received the wrong model, if you need a warranty replacement, or to look at what mode settings your device is in. The stimulation types are different in every mode. Customer Care is available at 1-800-732-0144, and our hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 8 P.M. EST and Saturdays 9 A.M.- 5 P.M. EST.
@@SportDOGBrand Actually the seller sold as new, and it wasn't so he refunded me, and I found out it was used and out of pairing. So I bought a REAL new one and is perfect. I don't even really need to use the collar now, I just show my German Shepherd the receiver and he stops pulling, at least for a minute until next showing of receiver. Of the 5 brands I've bought then tossed in the garbage, SportDog Brand is BY FAR THE FINEST QUALITY OF ALL BRANDS. I'm an extreme perfectionist military jet engine specialist and I recognize quality craftsmanship when I see it and I highly recommend SportDog Brand to everyone. Finally someone understands, "Just build quality and people will love you and your brand." THANK YOU for solving my frustrations of the other brands cheap crap products.
Fully charged and set to mode 2. But No vibrate...
Had a 425x. JUNK. Will NOT buy SportDog again.
We're sorry to hear about your experience with your 425X. We have contacted you on your previous post to offer further assistance with the pairing issue you experienced. We look forward to being of further assistance to you soon.
