At the time that In Rainbows was released, Radiohead was the biggest band in the world. They didn't have a record contract either, so they released this themselves on the internet for free. The band asked those who downloaded the album to pay whatever they felt the record was worth. Most people who downloaded the record didn't pay anything, but enough people did to make Readiohead's earnings from the digital sales of this album greater than the digital sales of all their previous albums combined.
In rainbows is one heck of an album.
This band did Paranoid Android you reacted to a couple days back - Bro - I've been watching your vids since you were onto Pink Floyd and SRV - no artist in my life has ever topped Radiohead - 45 years of loving all genres from rap to rock to blues to EDM - Radiohead is the best band I've ever heard to top them all. Even Zeppelin, even the Beatles - they are in the highest heights. They write songs that are not typically always easy to dig on listen #1 but there are plenty to give you enough to see if you are feeling them. Check out "There, There" - If so, man do you have a treasure - 9 albums - to enjoy ahead of you.
He did There There and did not seem to like it much but we all know that Radiohead requires multiple listens very often besides Bloom from the basement I would love to see him react to Pyramid Song also a very spiritual song with great drumming as well.
No cap
So haunting and beautiful. Gets me every time I listen, which is still often.
I love this song so much. I don't even know why. Top 5 Radiohead songs for sure for me.
One of my favorite songs of all time. Never gets old.
Thom Yorke's falsetto is angelic and beautiful, song has such an ethereal feel to it love love this song, and Colin's bass is always so rich and clear sounding and quite but very powerful 👏 sonically speaking perfection it doesn't get any better than this for me imo
Radiohead...heavenly music...Thom Yorke...voice of an angel. "A Moon Shaped Pool" is a beautiful album also. So glad you like them.
In Rainbows is such a great album.
This blew my mind when it came out, and it blows my mind now. Always a Radiohead fan, but probably the only band where my love continues to grow for them (besides maybe Beatles). I had no idea they'd release such a chill and beautiful album like this. Most their albums are much more disturbing or depressing.
Phil Selway’s mastery on the drums is beyond exceptional in the Radiohead song “Talk Show Host” and the Thom Yorke solo track “Hearing Damage.” Both contributions so good they are otherworldly.
My all time favorite Radiohead song ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Edit: you reacted to Paranoid Android two days ago, or that’s when you posted it. 🙃
Phil Selway is an immense drummer. Off kilt rhythms and also sheer power. The album is a masterpiece. Such a great band. Bless you and takecare from U.K. P.S. If you do hip hop you should check out 'Guns of mind alone' by Silverbullet. He done tunes like 'Bring forth the guillotine' and '20 seconds to comply' all the way back from the late 80's. Bless you.
If you listen to this song after a horrendous day, existence feels much more tolerable. A perfect decompression song.
LOVE how they orchestrate their music. Interesting combination of instruments, sonic textures and chord progressions. And it just sounds so damn good and groovy!
Thank you for reacting to this beautiful song. They are an amazing band and this song is one of my favorites off a near perfect album👍🏻
So beautiful. You nailed it when you said “I felt like I was listening to a masterpiece.” That’s how I felt on my first listen too!
When your smiling listening to a song and you don't know why.
Amazing track by them. Check out 15 Step from the same, Grammy winning LP. Tried to play it on the drums once...didn't go well lol
Need to watch them perform this song on "in the basement "
You’ll love the “from the basement” version. They recorded that on a studio and every single song sounds unique. Beautiful, great video man!
This here's a keeper. Thanks!
I came for the music, and stayed for the lyrics.
Soul music. Hymn. Holy.
Superb stuff Chod..Nigel Godrich , the producer, is kind of the unofficial 6th member of Radiohead..does some incredible work with Radiohead and Atoms For Peace...not sure who's got the most enthusiastic fans, Rush or Radiohead ? I'm both ,and Radiohead is so worth exploring..anyone mention the 'From The Basement' stuff yet lol? Man, you have to react to some of that, it'll blow your socks off haha!
That is the same for me they are probably my favorite two bands along with NIN, Yes and the Beatles and Pink Floyd. I would love a breakdown of the KOL from the basement the percussion is so amazing in the entire set I would love him to check out Bloom with three people playing drums and how intricate percussion is.
Love this song use to have this on repeat ✨
Great reaction! My favorite Radiohead song from my favorite Radiohead album
I’ve always loved how on this track, the bass kind of sneaks into the groove… twice.
You should do a deep dive into Radiohead. Especially since you are a musician. They will blow you away.
This has been my favorite song for around ten years. I'm thinking of getting "Because we separate like ripples on a blank shore" tattooed on my arm.
Beautiful song ghostly and subtly grabs you ... Peter Frampton did an all instrumental version (omg) on his Frampton Forgot The Words album can find on RUclips. He likes their music so much he included it on the album with some other heavy hitters.
I thought the Frampton version was great.
Love that you keep your impressions to the end, and doesn't keep pausing the thing. It sounds a bit basics but, most reacters can't wait to get the whole song before begin shitting in the pieces of it.
In Rainbows 🌈 🌈🌈 recommendations :
Weird Fishes/ Apreggi
Nude
House of Cards
Jigsaw Falling Into Place
Videotape
It must be from the basement so he can watch them pull off these songs without any prerecorded material.
Just do the whole thing
ALL I NEED???!!
Nourishment
Your grin at the end; down the rabbit hole you go!
Beautiful reaction to a beautiful song. I want it played at my funeral. Radiohead are one of my all time favourites. I recommend you also check out the band Talk Talk and particularly The Rainbow 🌈
Listening to Reckoner, its lyrics and its melody, made me cry out loud. Just absolutely beautifully
Pablo and Rainbows are my absolute favorites. I just started college when Pablo came out. Amazing times.
You've got to checkout Radiohead's "Where I end you begin" live from the basement. You wont be disappointed.
The song is about exotic dancers.
Best groove they ever laid down.
When the strings re-appear in the outro, and to the fade... Always makes me think of "Unfinished Sympathy" by Massive Attack
15 step is a great one to check out from the same album!
Nice friggin intro dude!
Great song.
Man, your face said it all..
Love your reaction.
Check out the "from the basement" version. It sounds the same, but watching them play this is awesome. No overdubs, just awesome instrumentalism.
By the way, while we're on Radiohead, check out "the National Anthem"!
Edit: also "Weird Fishes /arpeggi" !
I’d recommend There there as well, great drumming!
He already reacted to There There a good while ago and did not seem to like it much but we all know Radiohead songs often require multiple listens to click I bet if he did it now he would like it a lot more.
The version from Jools Holland would be great for him to react to.
We need some more........................... TOOL, RIGHT IN TWO
Great reaction, just gotta add that this group is "Radiohead" that you already reacted to 2 songs by, "There, There" and "Paranoid Android".
can you do a reaction to Mongrel by Bob Seger System
Radiohead always fire
When you get a chance check out the basement session version of this he sings it even better live the whole set is incredible and if you watch it you will become a huge fan. They have a second basement session with Clive Deamer as a second drummer he is a very talented Jazz drummer among other things and the percussion is as good as anything I have ever seen I have never seen a band use two drummers that well there is even a song with three drummers called Bloom which I would love to see a drummer break down but it must be the BASEMENT version please.
🤘
Little by little is a great one as well
☮️💜
It sounds like Marvin Gaye
Yo that intro was dope. What was that?
there on a different level so dam good please play falling by budgie aloha
Well that was a huge jump vibe-wise compared to paranoid android i dont think you were expecting that judging by your reaction lol every radiohead album is very different in my opinion. a lot of variety
