This is one of if not the greatest songs ever recorded. For those of you who get it nothing has to be explained. It reaches you to the core. Its just so beautiful.
yup and the little mistep in the beat, it keeps you glued and present. You're forced to listen to the beautiful harmonising. I just love the rhythms on this... guitar rhythm too.
So many of radiohead songs resonates within ourselves, some take many listening to get into them. What an amazing band, i feel privileged to ge alive while radiohead exists
This song hit so hard... its place in time. I remember where I was.... and I still remain. And to hear someone cover it = ultimate respect. I miss my history
@@pekee9304 you know, radiohead use 2 drummers when they perform it, plus the 2 guitarists play the tambourine and shaker. Kinda hard to emulate the sound of 4 percussionists live.
I was so blown away when I first found this video. Not just because of how great this cover is, but mostly because the first two CD's I ever bought with my own money were In Rainbows by Radiohead and The Odd Couple by Gnarls Barkley when I was Barnes & Noble one day.
So Gnarls Barkley with Josh Klinkhoffer on keys have done a great cover of an amazing Radiohead song of which the guitar riff as mentioned by Thom himself was a homage to John Frusciante, talk about small world :p and equally awesome :D.
I went to this concert at Roskilde Festival almost 13 years ago at the age of 16 and I have never stopped listening to the cover. It was and still is, just stunning.
I love how ceelo can’t believe they’d never heard that song before. Like to him it’s the best song ever and it insults him to be in front of so many philistines
@@Fruitcake46 that just isnt true lol. Theyre one of the most popular critically acclaimed acts of our time. They have almost ten mil monthly listeners on spotify lol
He and the band absolutely nailed this. One of the best covers of any artist out there. His ability to hit such a fantastical falsetto is exactly why this song is so good to begin with. If you can rival Thom Yorke's intensity, you're a pretty dang good singer. Drummer is NAILS too.
Phew, you had me worried for a second but thankfully Katie was right. He’s definitely on the keys…. it would be inappropriate on a cosmic level if he played lead guitar
@@only1missg864 at first I thought it was Josh playing guitar until the guitarist was given some more screentime. Then I still see Josh appearing on the synth lol!
I love this whole concert by them so much and this video was the very first time i've heard of Radiohead watching it so many years back. I'm a huge Radiohead fan now, as well as still a devoted Gnarls Barkley fan.
Gnarls. Well that was excellent. You're barely out of first gear and yet you do the song full justice, I love you tackling near-impossible songs, this is just an extraordinary cover.
In an article, Ceelo said he didn't want to be put in a box. He wanted to continue being creative. He figured staying in the geoup would've stunted his growth.
Ceelo Green was part of the Atlanta hip-hop scene in the early 90’s. He was a prominent member of the Goodie Mob, which were like the “other dudes” that hung out in a dirt floor basement studio while Outkast recorded their first album. He has the terminal uniqueness bug, and never wants to stifled creatively. Some people are just like that.
Beautiful. i flippin love (LOVE) Cee-Lo Green..and to hear his rendition of reckoner is like flippin sex...and the video was uploaded on my birthday....my life is complete.
Fun fact about this cover Josh Klinghoffer is on keys here and is a longtime guitarist for Red Hot Chili Peppers (as others have noted). He replaced his friend John Frusciante with RHCP, John wrote the guitar part for RHCPs Scar Tissue which directly inspired Thom Yorke of Radiohead to write the lead Reckoner guitar riff.
one of the few radiohead covers that actually work
doesn t matter your keys, this just sound fucking good
Floyd P lianne la havas at Glastonbury performing weird fishes is much better than this.
Check out Peter Frampton's cover
ruclips.net/video/RHdj_-x_51c/видео.html
Thanks for the suggestion :) Peter Frampton is a great musician
The lyrics are as unintelligible as Thom's. 10/10 would smash
☝️This guy gets it.
you can't take unintelligible with you when you go....
thank FUCK it isnt me just tripping out thinking only i couldnt understand thom
@@tootruesheep872 we're all on the same boat brother

Yeah , when Thom sings it🤣
The drummer absolutely nailed it
meh kindof, i cant really say so, cuz i dont play drums, but, he didnt get the plates right at all, maybe he just changed the style
@@pekee9304 sounds like he's kinda playing a mix of what the drums and additional percussions do on the original song

Wish this version was on spotify
I even wish this n Qobuz. Badly need the hi-res version
He shows so much respect to Radiohead by doing this and he does it properly. I love it :).

Josh Klinghoffer on the keys everyone!!
No shit. Lucky dude.
Ok, luck is the wrong word, talented dude.
omg josh is so talented, love that guy
He must like Radiohead. Nowadays he covers pyramid song in his gigs with the peppers
Coincidentally enough this song was originally inspired by John Frusciante!

11 years ago but I’m still listening
Keep coming back to this since 2010. Just crazy
Best Cover of any song EVER ! in my opinion
Heart's Stairway to Heaven is amazing.
I love how ceelo can’t believe they’d never heard that song before. Like to him it’s the best song ever and it insults him to be in front of so many philistines
Mo 2k Well I suppose in fairness the album was fairly new by the time of the concert. But I agree. Not enough people know the pleasure of Radiohead

Mo 2k I thought a similar thought but see the reaction at a real Radiohead concert. They know
@@eeplordsupreme, you didn't understand what Hashtagmurica said. By the time of this concert, the song Reckoner was released less than an year before.
Maybe this is just him shouting...
Great song and so difficult to cover. These guys fucking nailed it. And CeeLo is one of the greatest singers around.
I hope the people attending this event realize this performance is legendary. Well done!
Love the original but it always leads me to this Soul/Choir version 🔥🔥
I will never give up on my dreams
This is a wonderful cover
A very rare stamp of approval to cover Radiohead goes to Gnarls Barkley! Hats off guys!!
Lol I love Radiohead but I don't get why their fans act like it's sacred. Anyone can cover anything.
that lemon makes the song
My favorite song for years! 2021 just found this.. Now I have much respect for Gnarls
such a great cover
josh klinghoffer from red hot chili peppers plays the piano!!!!!
Quite interesting because supposedly the guitar is influenced by Frusciante style
I trust him completely with this song!
chills, chills and more chills!
what a beautiful version... im speechless.
RH forever!

This is a cool loop. Radiohead wrote this guitar part in dedication to frusciante from rhcp. The guitarist here is johns replacement : klinghoffer

I'd say this is the best cover of a Radiohead song, that or John Mayer's Kid A. Hanson's cover of Optimistic is top notch too.
2 words for you man. Punch Brothers
@Wilbur Wafer haha yeah. Felt like a googlewhack. Right up there with Kirsten Dunst covering 'turning japanese'

Dang! That was sweet!
What a great day, the sun came after some period of rain. Best Roskilde memory I have from 3 trips there. Gnarles in my heart from then on
“Hardcore Radiohead fan” here but there’s something great about this
Sick props to Gnarls for knowing a great song that’s not in his own genre!
Well Done, Mr. Barkley! Love the song and you nailed it
There is no Mr. Barkley. Gnarls Barkley is Brian Burton, aka Dangermouse and Cee lo Green

i hadn't even been paying much attantion to Gnarls Barkley.. until this.
Amazing cover of an amazing track ❤
Amazing voice
What a fantastic cover!
really nice cover actually
That is a great cover. Why don't we hear from Gnarls Barkley anymore?
Dangermouse is probably busy producing and CeeLo is of doing solo projects i believe
