Hey everybody! I just wanted to remind you that this is a headset experience if you have the opportunity in order to dig into some of the engineering Dynamics I talked about. Also, at the end of the video is a playlist of put together of all Radiohead reactions that I've done. Thank you all so much for constantly hanging in there and waiting for your favorite tracks to be played.
In my top three albums any genre all-time and the basement versions are even better I love King Of Limbs from the basement as well I would love to see a breakdown of Bloom or the Daily Mail but it has to be from the basement especially Bloom.
"Because we separate Like ripples on a blank shore (In rainbows) Because we separate Like ripples on a blank shore (In rainbows)" I can't listen to this part without crying
Nude specifically... I was serving in the USMC in Afghanistan right after this had come out. I'd bought the CD the day it came out and ripped it to an MP3 player... I was in a long range recon team and I'd listen to this album staring up at the most beautiful night skies I've ever seen after operating in the southwestern Afghan desert. Lying on nothing but a thin sleeping bag and moon like, powdered sand. The stars and the Milkyway appear so vibrant when you're in the middle of a desert, hundreds of miles from what can be called a city. A truly transcendent experience.
Man, I spent the 1990's in the Army...Infantry, on a bunch of "peacekeeping" deployments...and you made think about the music that got me through. There are those albums and songs that are permanently time-stamped for me now and always remind me of those places...reminds me of coming back to my cot in some shitty place, cranking up my headphones, and just adjusting my headspace, ya know?...You were lucky to have In Rainbows....Peace, bro.
100% I could fall off of the planet and not notice while lost in this. This came out when I just returned from Afghanistan. My mind and heart were in need of reconciliation with being home…. the tone of this piece summed up where my soul was. Sorry if my comment comes across as pointless or disjointed; this is the only way I can describe where I was (and return to) when hearing this piece. Cathartic but not closing…..
Spacing out whilst listening to Radiohead is inevitable. They put you in a trance and mesmerize you with their incredible musicianship and arrangements and Thom's amazing head voice and falsetto that lulls you into a warm pillow of sound.
Fun fact: This song is the only song on the album to mention the phrase "In Rainbows", and it's in the backing vocals when Thom repeats "Ripples are to blame", before he sings "Reckoner"
Does anyone else get this extreme nostalgia feeling as the song moves toward the ending? As the past drifts into the mist on the other side of the rainbow...
@12 3 Thank you. There are so many things that come to mind with this song, and this is the first time I've heard it, but the imagery of rainbows as the albums title brings out a whole host of feelings. Promises, movement, and forgiveness all wrapped up in a beautiful package. I think I need to listen to it again lol. :)

Honestly, EVERY song on this album, In Rainbows, is amazing. Another reaction of any song from this album would be great. Hard to pick a favorite, but "Jigsaw falling into place", "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" or"House of Cards" come to mind.
House of Cards kind of passed me by on first listen to the album but I feel like it's the secret weapon on the album. Fairly conventional but with such a rich sound and beaitiful laid back groove. It's just flawlessly executed.

@@YesVideosToTalkAbout Yep. I think that album is way underrated. Just as good as their "great 3". This comment proves it's underrated. But surely it'll soon be regarded as another great in that canon.
One of the most emotionally loaded Radiohead songs for me, would really love to see Bloom in a future video, and as usual, here is my humble request for a reaction to Svefn-g-Englar by Sigur Rós
If you do Bloom you have to do the basement version its much better live actually all the basement versions are fantastic they are all better than the studio ones plus it is so cool seeing how they pull some of the stuff off with no recorded music at all amazing how much stuff I thought were keyboards of some kind and were actually guitars.
@@jameshannagan7830 I think the best way to experience 'Bloom' or any of TKOL is to first listen to the studio versions and then The Basement Session and for Bloom one should also seek out Thom's solo piano version
As a composer who once worked in a major NYC conservatory, I've got to back you up on the idea of simplicity. Simplicity is NOT easy. Simplicity is where you are most exposed. Simplicity is where you cannot hide. I can't tell you how many composers I've listened to who hide behind complexity. For them, it's a shield. They are almost saying, "How can think my music is bad? Don't you hear how complex it is?" I used to think this was a hallmark of student work, of someone trying too hard to impress. But there are plenty of more elder composers who do the same thing. I say, "Be brave. Dare to be simple." It's not as easy as it looks.
"Just", "Fake Plastic Trees", "Exit Music (For a Film)", "There, There", "Optimistic", "Airbag"...I could go on. It might not be popular, but I think you might like "Motion Picture Soundtrack", too.
I love your radiohead reactions for some reason. It's nice to see someone appreciate their art as much as I do and add such a technical breakdown to it, as well as appreciating the sheer beauty and their emotion
Something I love about this tune is that it makes you feel like you’re falling at times. If you know the band, you know they’ll catch you a few moments past the point of comfort. If you don’t know them, I imagine their music can catch you emotionally off guard. Great video, Geebz!
There’s a reason the band is known as depressing - they have a way of reaching into your guts through your stomach and pulling your heart out. Daydreaming made me bawl.
It's so much fun watching this guy catch almost every small detail at his first listen. Little things that I've come to appreciate about these songs after years of listening to them, this guy pauses on his first listen and points it out straight away. Love your attention to detail
Without reading through comments, my bet is that there's dozens arguing which album is "best". They're all different in their subtle approach. IMO, this one highlights their mastery of arrangement. Weird Fishes isn't super complicated, but the arrangement is phenomenal. As I mentioned in another video on this channel, I almost quit playing guitar because the complexity of their arrangements on this album. To sit down, listen to relatively uncomplicated individual playing, whilst hearing this ridiculously complex and beautiful music is quite overwhelming. So, to hear people argue which album is "best", factor in the subjective experience of the listener at the time in their lives correlated to said album, and combine it with the aspect of the album that resonates with them personally. That's part of the beauty of music. It's an art form that people put out there and each of us attach to it as if it were written specifically as a soundtrack to our inner world. So it goes...
Aw yes I was hoping you'd do this one, such an incredible song. You should really do an album reaction to OK Computer or In Rainbows. They are both amazing albums.
We're listening to more Radiohead, finally! Geebz this is - gun to my head - my favorite band, there are still a million songs of theirs worth listening to.
Bodysnatchers and Jigsaw if you want a more upbeat Rock sound; 15 Steps if you want a energized and, all-around, very good Pop-Rock song; All I Need if you want to begin in space chilling and then explode like a supernova... this album has everything.
Would be great to see you do ‘Nude’ from this same album and also see you react to their song ‘Daily Mail.’ Also, I’m going to keep asking for this one, ‘Roads’ from Portishead!
For Radiohead - I would seriously recommend "The butcher"; "The daily Mail"; "Where I end and you begin" and "Weird Fishes"... All from later albums, like this one. All utterly original compositions.
Great job!! I love watching your reactions! Your smile lights up the room :) must listens: weird fishes; daydreaming; in limbo. And for a more heavier sound from Radiohead: national anthem; bodysnachers; myxomatosis. Mahalo!
I've always loved Radiohead's chord writing. one of my favorite things about these videos is watching you react to my favorite chord changes and how you obviously appreciate them
I love the random journey you've been taken on by your followers thus far for Radiohead. It has to be an absolute headspin. They have such a deep, and vast discography. Enjoy it, man. 🤙
Would love to see more Radiohead (There There in particular) but I would love to see you do 'Future Islands - Light House', a really beautiful, fantastically paced and poignant song.
Did you happen to notice at the golden ratio of the album (about 5:58 to 6:05 in this video ), Thom Yorke sings "In Rainbows" at the same time another voice track sings "blank shore." Radiohead is absolutely an *experience*. I would recommend listening to the album in its entirety, as it's a masterpiece. It was the first Radiohead album I listened to, and remains my favorite of their discography, although I love them all.
I think I realized the reason I like this channel and others similar to it. It's not just the new trivia that I have to appreciate about songs that I like.. It's that I get to vicariously share music with someone who is excited about it. Watching your reactions is the kind of thing I always hoped my friends would have when sharing my tastes with them.
That “separation” you note is because we’re separate, like ripples on a blank shore, or like colors In Rainbows. The album is a masterwork of the 21st Century.
Amazing album, hope you pick a few more songs from this one or Moon Shaped Pool - Jigsaw Falling Into Place, Weird Fishes, or House of Cards would make for really great reactions.
In Rainbows: The most beautiful Radiohead album. Absolutely stunning. Check out Radiohead's In The Basement performance of In Rainbows and you'll realize the studio recording is only 85% of the beauty.
Really loved watching these videos. As you seem to like the orchestral pieces (Jonny Greenwood does these I believe) I think you should check out the James Bond theme they did called Spectre. It was never used as the producers thought it was too dark. (Radiohead? Too dark?) I think it is awesome and that you would really like it.
Glad to hear you breaking down more Radiohead. I want so much for you to give us a video where you recommend music to us, for a change. Every video I want to recommend stuff to you but then I think better of it as you are already overwhelmed, I'm sure. What are your recommendations?
I know I am replying to a message from 2 years ago, but if you love the opening to this, you will probably also love New Grass by Talk Talk. When I first heard Reckoner it reminded me of it very heavily.
I remember listening to Reckoner during a long descent into Frankfurt airport from Singapore, predawn with lights appearing out of the scattered low cloud, pretty much perfect backdrop.
I would give a listen to Johnny's (the guitarist and string composer) soundtrack work...especially "Prospectors Arrive" from the film There Will Be Blood...masterpiece of composition
This has been so cool. I came here specifically for your reactions to these Radiohead songs. Hands down my favourite band. I hope you stay with them. I would love for you to try out 'The National Anthem'. Thanks again for these.

dude almost at 200k subs!!!! That makes me so happy. Seriously one of the best music focused youtube channels to come out in a LONG time
“How to disappear completely” another masterpiece
One of the most emotionally loaded Radiohead songs for me, would really love to see Bloom in a future video, and as usual, here is my humble request for a reaction to Svefn-g-Englar by Sigur Rós
Ny Batteri, same album.
@@CraigKeidel Honestly any of the songs from Ágætis Byrjun would make for great reactions
@@millezenith Yeah probably. Great album.
Dare to be simple."
It's not as easy as it looks.
One of the best songs by Radiohead
In Rainbows is a masterpiece. Keep the good vibes comin Geebz!!
"Just", "Fake Plastic Trees", "Exit Music (For a Film)", "There, There", "Optimistic", "Airbag"...I could go on. It might not be popular, but I think you might like "Motion Picture Soundtrack", too.
Love the radiohead listens
I love your radiohead reactions for some reason. It's nice to see someone appreciate their art as much as I do and add such a technical breakdown to it, as well as appreciating the sheer beauty and their emotion
Thank you :)
Radiohead has some of the best songs ever recorded/mixed/produced.
One of the best albums out there in my opinion. Good song selection, Geebz!! 💕
Hell yeah, another Radiohead. Please do all In Rainbows song haha
Possibly my favorite Radiohead song. The drums really make it feel grounded while the vocals fly above.
I could listen to the outro riff for hours.
the gnarls barkley cover of this song is excellent too
With Josh Klinghoffer!
Would be great to see you do ‘Nude’ from this same album and also see you react to their song ‘Daily Mail.’
Also, I’m going to keep asking for this one, ‘Roads’ from Portishead!
I love watching these. Honestly it feels like I'm listening to and then chatting about music with my friends
A great reaction to a personal favourite of mine.
I suggest listening to "2 + 2 = 5" off the Hail to the Theif album.
For Radiohead - I would seriously recommend "The butcher"; "The daily Mail"; "Where I end and you begin" and "Weird Fishes"... All from later albums, like this one. All utterly original compositions.
Where I End And You Begin is up there with my all time Radiohead favorites. Takes you on a ride for sure.
+1 for "Weird Fishes"
Great job!! I love watching your reactions! Your smile lights up the room :) must listens: weird fishes; daydreaming; in limbo. And for a more heavier sound from Radiohead: national anthem; bodysnachers; myxomatosis. Mahalo!
You have to see this in "Live from the Basement" version. Oh my god.
And yepp, a lot of people who love Radiohead are musicians themselves and appreciates all the details.
I've always loved Radiohead's chord writing. one of my favorite things about these videos is watching you react to my favorite chord changes and how you obviously appreciate them
The emotions stirred by this song....
One of my all time favourite albums
my favourite radiohead song i think. too hard to decide.
I just saw this!! Reckoner was the song that got me hooked on Radiohead! Thank you for doing it. You rock! 😊
This song is an experience, along with on rainbows...wow..the only word...wow
I love the random journey you've been taken on by your followers thus far for Radiohead. It has to be an absolute headspin. They have such a deep, and vast discography. Enjoy it, man. 🤙
I just saw your video about your 1 year anniversary. Would love to see you react to Radiohead - Daydreaming (the official video)
Decks Dark is a great Radiohead song to review. I’d be interested to see how you react to their ‘newer’ stuff.
Would love to see more Radiohead (There There in particular) but I would love to see you do 'Future Islands - Light House', a really beautiful, fantastically paced and poignant song.
Amazeballs……it’s gotta be Nude by Radiohead next, surely?
Did you happen to notice at the golden ratio of the album (about 5:58 to 6:05 in this video ), Thom Yorke sings "In Rainbows" at the same time another voice track sings "blank shore."
Radiohead is absolutely an *experience*. I would recommend listening to the album in its entirety, as it's a masterpiece. It was the first Radiohead album I listened to, and remains my favorite of their discography, although I love them all.
what's the "golden ratio" of an album?
I think I realized the reason I like this channel and others similar to it. It's not just the new trivia that I have to appreciate about songs that I like.. It's that I get to vicariously share music with someone who is excited about it. Watching your reactions is the kind of thing I always hoped my friends would have when sharing my tastes with them.
That “separation” you note is because we’re separate, like ripples on a blank shore, or like colors In Rainbows. The album is a masterwork of the 21st Century.
Best album ever for states of altered consciousness. Truly the greatest.
(Radiohead? Too dark?)
I think it is awesome and that you would really like it.
This is one of my favorites off of this album. What an awesome continuing journey into Radiohead’s discography.
Radiohead's "Life in a Glasshouse" Next. UPVOTE THIS!!!!
What a beautiful fucking song
RadioHead one of the favorite modern bands that I really appreciated got inducted in the Rock hall of fame. :)
Glad to hear you breaking down more Radiohead. I want so much for you to give us a video where you recommend music to us, for a change. Every video I want to recommend stuff to you but then I think better of it as you are already overwhelmed, I'm sure. What are your recommendations?
One of the best openings to a track I've heard. It completely envelopes and overwhelms you.
I know I am replying to a message from 2 years ago, but if you love the opening to this, you will probably also love New Grass by Talk Talk. When I first heard Reckoner it reminded me of it very heavily.
The amount of times I cried of pure emotion just listening to this album... what a piece of art
One of their best songs.
RADIOHEAD IS A GENRE!!!
There’s a fantastic version of this. Radiohead live in the basement. You can really see everything. Stunning.
His name the composer is Jonny Greenwood. He has done film score and is the only one in the band who finished school in music.
DECKS DARK PLEASE!!!!
Guaranteed view from me for any Radiohead video
This has been so cool. I came here specifically for your reactions to these Radiohead songs. Hands down my favourite band. I hope you stay with them. I would love for you to try out 'The National Anthem'.
Thanks again for these.
This whole album is a must, one of their best without a doubt
this song is amazing on all levels.
