I’m obsessed with the tone of the bass on Nude. It’s incredibly smooth. Edit: Thom really started experimenting with vocal tracks on Kid A. Everything in its right place sticks out in my head.
Another fun detail about this song. If you play the beginning of this song backwards, you will recognize that it is the end of the song in reverse. They took the end of the song, flipped it backwards, and put it in the beginning. If you're listening carefully to the beginning of the song in regular mode, you can hear the tell-tale signs of reverse audio, by the whispy sounds of some of those reverse drums. And the reverse vocals have a certain beautiful eeriness to them.
@@collinbeal or on any system at all. it's really obvious, intentionally so. Gorgeous production from the master. Imagine how different that whole album would be had they used their original recordings with Stent...
I think that its hard to tell because only some of the intro feels off or even lost.. like its eerie but familiar, and when it hits in the outro that familiarity just makes you almost know where the melody wants you to go
As great as this song is on its own, it really is great on the album because it’s sandwiched between Bodysnatchers and Weird fishes/arpeggi. I remember first time listening to this album and rocking out to 15 step and Bodysnatchers and then this beautiful song comes on.
@@Straaaayyyy - if you've actually listened to the whole album you know that's not true🙄 And there's nothing wrong with trance or people liking trance anyway.
Nude is absolutely sublime. It has genuine beauty, but also a slightly sick feeling when the strings come in on the second verse. This song turned me to RH - now my favourite band.
Nude is one of those songs that you like a little more every listen. It’s gone from initially being a rather middling Radiohead track to being one of my all time favourite tracks of all time. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a song which using space so beautifully. Once you’re familiar with that shape of it, the anticipation of certain moments is thrilling and when they come it is practically orgasmic. I know you’re thinking about moving on from these traditional reactions, so I’m really pleased you fit this one in.

@8:40 -ish ....funny you mentioned this live: their "From The Basement" show is one of the most amazing ~60min of live performance you can find, including an almost near-perfect rendition of 'Nude'. So glad you listed to this song, and hope you check that out \m/
Thom Yorke's voice has a sultry, seductive, yet melancholy aspect which makes Nude extremely emotionally evocative as well as ethereal (alliteration not intended). He is very deliberate with how each note is sung and each syllable is drawn out. I'd agree this is the *perfect* song for your mood.
I was able to connect to this album during an acid trip, in particular. So I have these weird sensory memories attached to each track. Honestly, that hour of the trip kinda felt like I was in utero.
Thank you, Geebz, for more Radiohead reaction/thoughts. Brings a smile to me. Hope the storm passes soon with no ill effect to anything or anyone, all the best.
Please do Burn the Witch and The Numbers too, Geebz. Been waiting for them since you've started Radiohead. In fact, the whole A Moon Shaped Pool album is filled with super wonderful string arrangements. I'm sure you'd love it.
I just listened to their basement live play through for the first time today and this was my favorite song on it, just absolutely phenomenal to see them jam this live.
Do yourself a favor and listen to this album front to back. It really is a treat. Better yet, just watch in rainbows from the basement. It's a live private set in hd, and it's pretty much what you would expect.

In Rainbows is one of my favorite Radiohead albums. Got to see them live for the tour of this album and it was hands down the best show I've ever seen.
I officially fell head over heals in love with Radiohead after listening to this album somewhat recently too so the emotions are still fresh. Love Tom Yorks Jazzy style he implemented on this album it totally works and it’s brilliant. Another great song off this album is All I Need! But another one too off a different album is Codex. It’s so chill that’s it’s breathtaking! Something I know you’d really dig
Has to be Reckoner - Radiohead next from the same album. Also, all these In Rainbows tracks are next level on the Live From The Basement session they did. It’s basically a Live but in the studio thing. 😁🎶✌️
Firstly id like to say, i LOVE you channel. I have been a sub to your channel since the early days and i love your break downs and informed insight. Secondly that being a radiohead fan for so long seeing other people appreciate their music means a lot to me. This song is one of those that came to me at the right time and was exactly what i needed without knowing i needed it, and so i can understand needing to just soak in a song like this. Moreover I'm glad that you did, as this is a song that deserves to be experienced in its entirety. But.... I also think that this song deservers to be dissected to better uncover its full glory. With no fear of pausing, breaking down (not necessarily bar by bar) every component of what makes this song good. A real deep dive. They have a live studio version of this song from the "In the Basement" series that i think would be perfect for you. Especially considering your comments about them not being worried about them doing it live, but also getting a closer look at just exactly how it is that they do what they do. I never really got this song until I heard the Live From The Basement version. One of the best musical and vocal performances I have ever seen in my whole life. It really made me appreciate the studio version more and note where all the magnificent was. Truly a masterpiece.
What I love about this song (and many other Radiohead songs) is that his voice IS an instrument. The lyrics have meaning but they take a backseat behind the sound they make
I love your reactions, man. Your open-mindedness to all forms of music just shines through. And Radiohead, man. Anyone who really gets music loves Radiohead.
Wow! I was only aware of your other kids’ educational channel and was always sad you didn’t have more views on that one. Then stumbled on this mega channel. Happy for you and feel spiritually vindicated by the universe 🌌🙃🎶
At some point you should do a "slow burn" style session on their two "Live from the Basement" performances. For one, they're absolutely amazing. Imo, better versions than the albums. But I think there's another aspect that you'd really appreciate, and that's that you get to see the guys tinkering with all of their toys and get some insight into how they work as a band. I was already a big fan, but those shows really put them up there with the G.O.A.T.s for me. I think, from an engineering perspective, that you would really dig those sets.
Listen to Meddle by Pink Floyd ... the Radiohead clarity and elegance owes a debt of favour to what the floyd laid down all those years earlier. Both are excellent, don't get me wrong!
What you said about "not worrying about how they're going to play it live" is very true. They had this track already painted out and written in the late 90s but they weren't ever satisfied with the end product. When they finally came back to it in In Rainbows, they figured out the proper arrangement to make the song exactly how they wanted.
I await the day you make it to jigsaw falling into place. to me that is the ultimate Radiohead song. Full of amazing sound textures and extremely emotional. I hope oneday you sit down and give the whole album a start to finish listen because In Rainbows is so fucking good

I think I recall their singer cracking a joke in a tour documentary around the original writing of this song that the working title was "your home may be at risk if you don't keep up repayment"
Yeah man, more of this! Well, not just Radiohead, but variety is the spice of life kind of deal. Not just metal or OSTs, but jumping from genre to genre is much more likely to make watch more of your videos, than having the assumption that, ah, it's going to be metal. Always, metal. Greetings from snowy Canada! So happy to see another Radiohead reaction bro! I only wish you had chosen the version of Nude from the "Live from the Basement" sessions, I highly recommend you check that one out. Please consider for your next Radiohead reaction video, The Daily Mail (Live from the Basement) or Codex (Live from the Basement). I believe you would enjoy both of these in particular. Hope you faired well in the storm, excuse me while I suit up to go shovel some snow. 🤣 Have a good one man!
Geebz, mate, I love you for doing radiohead, but do any of the non-singles off the last album (Moon Shaped Pool). You'll love the cinematic composition on so many of those songs.
Great, more RH. This should be a good one👍 On the album this song is sandwiched really nicely between "Bodysnatchers" and "Weird Fishes". It kind of gives you a little breather for a few mins to collect your thoughts.
when i listen to a song over and over after some time i might stop listening to it or it doesnt give me the same feelings anymore but Nude is much different than that. i can't get over it, doesnt matter how many times i listen to it.
Always love your analysis and reactions..can see when the music really moves you..great catch on the counterpoint, most people don't catch it first time (casual listeners anyway) one of my favorite rh songs, which also features one of the best lyric line ever.. "You'll go to hell for what your dirty mind is thiiiiiiinking."
just an interesting sidenote at some point seeing them live, I realized one of their greatest streaks is that the second guitarist voice can match your timber. So a lot of the things that you hear city recordings can be reproduced live very well. makes me insanely jealous lol
Interesting, I definitely thought you would appreciate this one a bit more. But then again, it may be their most subtle song on their most subtle record. As much as i loved this record from day one, it actually took me a few years to fully appreciate exactly how good Nude really is. It may be one of the best pop songs ever recorded.
As much as I like geebz, I think his knowledge on composition lacks. It's almost like he doesnt understand the genius of some of the most amazing compositions.
Thanks for this, Geebz. Great to see you dive into Radiohead’s catalogue. I also highly recommend anything from the Live from the Basement version of their album The King of Limbs. Those performances really bring those songs to life in a remarkable way that I feel you’d really enjoy. Bloom could be a good track to start with there. You’re the man! ☮️💟
As other comments have said ' in the basement' studio live session is excellent . 'Videotape' and 'nude' are my favourites on it but the whole thing is great , thanks for the video.
I set my lights to green and purple to get in the vibe with you. also my first listen. Least you can do is react to another Neurosis song. Perhaps “The Tide” Loved the tone of the bass and dug the bass line as the song progressed.
Loving your channel. And Radiohead is one of my all-time favorite bands. Don't know if you know this: the band's name is taken from the Talking Heads song "Radio Head," from the album/movie True Stories, which was based on Stephen Tobolowsky (the actor who played Needlenose Ned in Groundhog Day). That should be enough information to send you down a (totally true) internet rabbit hole. Just a fun fact I thought you might like to know.
It’s funny you say people were requesting this in September because I went on a Radiohead kick for the autumn months and it totally worked with like the leaves changing colors and falling it’s the perfect soundtrack for the autumn months!
Just found your content and I'm enjoying it immensely! I have a couple suggestions for you to give a listen to that I'm fairly certain will melt your brain: Firstly, there's Wagakki Band. You *have* to listen to "Homura + Akatsuki no Ito". Wagakki Band is a fusion of metal and classic Japanese music. They have 2 drummers, a shamisan, a flutist and more. Just incredible stuff! Secondly is Band Maid. They're a rock/metal band also from Japan and are *incredible* musicians. For a first watch/listen I'd recommend either Domination or Freedom and go with a live version. I cannot overstate just how good they all are at their respective istruments but their drummer, Akane in particular is just *NUTS* !

'Videotape' and 'nude' are my favourites on it but the whole thing is great , thanks for the video.
beautiful song
Lovely. Your singing especially.
I set my lights to green and purple to get in the vibe with you. also my first listen. Least you can do is react to another Neurosis song. Perhaps “The Tide” Loved the tone of the bass and dug the bass line as the song progressed.
some days i think it's the most beautiful song ever
8:40 What's really amazing is seeing them do it live
Just adding a comment for love, years after the vid was posted. Alriiiiight.
Aloha from O'ahu! Think if you like this try Daydreaming or Lift by Radiohead; both a great listen & helped me thru tough times
Geebz. Best reactor/composer.
thank youuuu!!!!
I love, man! Me encantan tus disecciones, sobre todo de Ingeniería musical. Saludos desde Argentina.
Great song 🎵 👌
Love this Radiohead track!!
I love this live, but this recording is exceptional. In the basement version is very very good.
Man, In Rainbows was 2007?! Jeez I feel old now. I remember the day I went out and bought the vinyl. Amazing album, and Nude is a stand out song
