    I just returned from the Moab area of Utah with my 22 F150 Tremor. It is stock except for a transmission skid plate I purchased from Talon's garage (1/4" aluminum). The truck had 10k miles and I returned with 13.5k miles as I drove from Indiana and back.
    The truck rode extremely well on the road to and from Utah. The most comfortable vehicle I've driven cross country.
    The first trail area we did was a part of Gemini Bridges as we were looking for a camping spot. It was my first real off-road experience with the truck and at full tire pressure. Since the spots were taken we went to the UtahRaptor park east of 191 and went to the back of the park near Arches for a wonderful campsite.
    The next day we met up with friends and headed down to Elephant Hill in Canyonlands. I aired down to 24 psi and we hit the switchbacks. The truck did well, but bottomed out several times just due to wheelbase. Due to a lack of spotters where it counted, I did hit my rear quarter panel and ripped the aluminum fender behind the wheel and slightly tweaked my bumper on SOB Hill going down. Shortly thereafter as we navigated the sandy washes I heard a repeated hissing noise from the left rear tire. Stopped and found that the tire was punctured in the sidewall. We grabbed the tire repair kit and plugged it quickly, and it worked! Stayed at Horsehoof campground for 3 nights with 2 highly modded 3rd gen 4-runners and a 16 Tacoma.
    On the way out it was a bit easier and just had the typical scrapes and dragging on the skid plate, frame rails, and steps. Yes, I quickly determined which belly item I was dragging by the sound of the screeching they made on the rocks.
    After getting back to Moab, we hit Fins and Things and the truck did great. Several scrapes and drags....I opted not to do Hells Revenge as I felt it would be even more scraping.
    On the final day, we went to Arches. When we finished the paved road part we went on the dirt road to Tower Arch and took the "High Clearance 4WD" trail to the arch and then along the eastern edge of the park. This was my favorite part of the trip, and really the realm of the Tremor. I blasted through the trail as fast as I could (had 2 passengers and still had the tire patch in the sidewall). But we left the Tacoma (on Icon shocks and lifted 2-3") in the dust. I actually didn't bottom out once. Very surprised.
    So in summary, I'd say the first upgrade would be tires, as the stock are 2 ply, not 3 like real offroad tires. If you take harder, rockier trails, get a transmission skid plate. I didn't hit my factory engine skid plate (if you want to call it that...) at all. But the tranny skid plate got a good beating.
    If you are going bigger/better with the tires, then sure, you need to get a lift/suspension upgrade. But I was pleasantly surprised by the suspension. You will also drag the side steps. I did bend them so much that the passenger door scraped when opening. However, a few well placed hops by my 200# buddy was able to straighten them out just fine. Rock rails would be great, but you really need to be looking at a lot larger lift and much bigger tires to make them a requirement. The wheelbase is just too long to do serious rock crawling.
    If you are in the Moab area, stick to the trails rated at 4 or less to avoid too much damage. Sorry for the long reply. Just thought I would share my experience. (PS the sidewall patch finally gave up the ghost in Clayton New Mexico)

      Thanks for sharing! Sounds like quite the adventure. Armour is a definite! I'm not sure why I've never done a video on it. My truck is shielded all the way to the gas tank. I never had an issue with the Grapplers. Personally I thought they did great. Glad you got to get out David!

    Man I love your channel you honestly cover all the real shit. I tow a few days a week about 6-8k and that's why I like the rake and I understand why Ford made it more pronounced on this Truck. I only run forest fire service roads and old logging roads. So, thank you for covering that in this video because it was something I was debating on my head.

    A Tremor is so much more than just the suspension. I'm so tired of that argument. I'm getting ready to order a '24 F350 Platinum Tremor. I need towing and payload but specifically I want the electronic features you can't get aftermarket.
    I do miss the Southwest trails you showcase. I'm currently in Missouri but travel all over the country so I'm looking forward to venturing the Mark Twain forest and the Ozarks. Hopefully I'll get to the southwest again.

    I completely agree with your points. I would add a couple of points from what my son told me. My son owns a Ford repair shop where he specializes in mostly SuperDuty's but does work on all makes/models all the way down to light duty trucks. I mentioned this weekend that I was thinking of going to a minor leveling of the front end. Now, I don't do anything really technical off-road, I don't have the time/inclination at this point. So, there's that. I love my truck so far and only wanted the leveling mostly for the overall look. He has a lot of experience with this and warned me of two issues for me: 1) It will make the truck handle worse. Maybe this won't bother many but it will affect the way the truck handles the more you mess with the geometry for on-road use. 2) Once you affect the geometry, you put more strain on ball joints and, axles, and other front suspension parts that will wear out faster. So, if you are spending time off-roading great. This' is going to be what you want and you'll see the advantages. If it's to look better, I get it, just be aware that you may be spending money at 40,000 mi. instead of 100,000 mi. for items wearing out. This' is something my son sees regularly with even minor lifts.

      While I tend to agree with ya, in general this is true. However my experience as with others I've talked with is, the truck actually handles better with the new suspension and level. The "roll" of the truck goes away and the back end is planted firmly to the ground. The higher you lift a truck, most definitely will have an effect on parts wearing out faster. Depending on what parts you're removing and adding. Cv axel joints are probably the only real possible concern for me personally. That being said though, my cv axel look as they did stock because I added bigger tires so the angle is closer to where they started. Good to hear from you!

      @@TremorTrails Just so you know, everything you're doing I think is great and appropriate. You're using this truck for what it's truly meant for. Plus, I would argue, anyone with a RUclips channel is running a small business and this is a tool of their business. Which, for that use wear and tear is to be expected. My truck is for light use and yours is getting heavy use for sure but is built for that use too.

    Gold Mountain will be doable, Holcomb Creek is going to be tough at the gatekeeper at 3n16, Little John Bull and John Bull is going to be very difficult. My biggest concern would be the steps. When I do John Bull in my jeep, I use my poison spyder sliders to pivot on some of the large boulders because they are bulletproof. I couldn't do that with the Tremor steps. I couldn't imagine getting my Tremor through without damage. Horsethief flats would be an interesting trail as well as White Mountain.

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  Год назад

      No doubt! I will have to divorce my steps as well as tail pipes on the more extreme ones! I think with wheel base, I'm still gonna need a few more inches to safely not destroy the truck.

    I recently found your channel while trying to research suspension options for my 2022 402a Tremor. I love your candor and straight forward manner when talking about the truck. Your name came up when I was on the phone with with Halolifts this morning. There is a lot of information out there on these topics. Sometimes it make my head hurt just trying ti figure it all out. I would love to see a compete build list of products and option of your truck on your website. I want to do the 2.5 Halo lift Mountain package but it is sort of confusing selecting that option on their website. ANyway thanks for the channel.

      Welcome! If there's anything you need help with I'm always around. I haven't been over to Halolifts website in a min. But happy to pass on the info to them. 2.5 is going to be more of an off Road setup compared to the 2.0 but the 2.0 will handle off road just fine if it's something you do just occasionally.

    I have a 2023 Tremor, and the front suspension sucks. Dealership installed 2.5 level kit straight off the lot. I have a popping noise anytime I hit an angle with stress on the front end. Dealer says it's normal for a 4x4.

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  6 месяцев назад

      2.5 isn't recommended unless you change your upper control arms. Drop it to 2 inch you should be better. And it's not normal at all. I'd unfortunately find a different dealership.

      @TremorTrails I have since gone to a different dealership...thanks for the info. I'm gonna have to deal with the 2.5 level kit until I can scrounge up some cash for a lift kit. What do u recommend? I want it to be level with the rear not any higher. Preferably decently priced, I don't go off road.

    Great information. How do you like the Halos now after several months? How is the ride on the pavement and off road compared to stock? I agree with you ,the thing that is motivating me toward a Tremor is Trail Turn assist and the optional Torsen front end. I think those two items make this truck fantastic for those that want an off the showroom floor off road capable truck. I only wish Fox Racing and Roush would make tuned shocks for the Tremor.

      I honestly love the Halo setup. Only 1 issue so far and it was SUPER minor. I pulled the oil boot off the bottom of the uca on a tough trail. It seated right back in and I barely lost any greese. The street ride is good. Only fast pot holes are stiff. The truck still rides incredibly smooth on roads.

    Some good points. I've enjoyed watching your journey with the truck and the cool places it has opened up for you. Curious how you find and select the trails you want to go to. Is there a big source that has all the trails in the nation listed, or do you search around various places for each state? I bought my first truck a little over a year ago and would like to start doing some minor trails with my family. Having trouble locating anything even remotely near by and was wondering how you go about it.

I was personally finding it very hard to find full size trails that's one of the main reasons I started this little channel. Onx app is a great way to explore trails around you and see what's available. Also Google and All Trails .com. thanks for watching! Oh.. what state are you in? I can possibly look and see if I can help you find some stuff.
