Matt's Off-Road Recovery is an excellent launchpad for people to learn how to make a RUclips Channel successful. Then, they can leave Matt's employment and strike out on their own. Good Luck, Tom Tom, and I wish you all the success and followers you deserve...
There was an interesting video on the 1320video channel this week featuring Cleetus Mcfarland where he described his journey to becoming a 3.5M subscriber car channel. His content is great, but his production values are terrible with constant hose-piping of the camera leaving the view motion sick. I made a comment in that video using MORR as an example of how RUclips should be done using two or three full time video editors, who put together footage from multiple camera angles plus lots of cutaways. We barely notice the editing in Matt's videos, which is how it should be. So all of those people who left MORR to start their own channels have a good grounding in how it should be done. I made the point in the Cleetus comment that yo NEVER see hose-piped camera footage on Discovery Turbo or any professionally produced TV. Getting the footage is only half of the job. ruclips.net/video/9Vvi285rvfM/видео.html
Tom`s not gone, hes just spreading his wings and flying on his own, the "Tom`s MORR Journey" was something we can all be thankful for, now we get to support him and watch him grow on his own projects on his own channel. wishing you big success on future endeavours on this channel Tom, i`ll be here every step of the way, thanks for sharing
The guy is literally a nuclear engineer, I'm pretty sure editing video is fairly simple in comparison 😅 I can't do either, but I can guess which one I could figure out..
Good video editing is harder than it looks. Doing it right requires some planning before you shoot any video to make sure you get the shots you need. And I think most editing noobs don't understand how much time it takes. That's why you see a lot of either raw video on RUclips or channels with dedicated editors. If you're running a business, you can easily shoot video as part of the job. But editing is like a second job.
I can honestly say that you brought a lot to Matt's Offroad recovery with your interactions, wit, smarts, and made it that much more enjoyable with your personality and humor as well but I'm glad to see you're off on this new journey and I am definitely looking forward to more great content. I agree both Lizzy and Tom made the channel but we lost more interesting characters; I really liked Trevor; his humor is still not replaced. Or Randy. Rhett and Kaughlin (spelling is a bit weird for Red and Colin, must be a Mormon thing) are a bit boring. The channel needs characters!

Thank you for this! It's so good to hear the history of how you got involved with Matt's off-road recovery! I understand everybody is different but it would have really been nice because there have been so many cool people at Matt's off-road recovery that have left and I'm sure the reasons were probably very benign but it would have been nice to have an explanation for all those other people. We got it for Lizzie and Rudy but we didn't get it for Trevor, Tucker, Skeeter, Etc

You guys are awesome. I am not LDS but I have had the pleasurer of working for a small construction company where everyone was LDS with the exception of me, the heathen. But I always remember them as great humble people that worked hard and I respected them even though we were not of the same faith. I know you will do well Tom Tom.
It's a bummer that the darkness of the LDS church gets tied to many inherently good people, like Tom, who have unfortunately ended up in one of the world's most effective modern cults. There is so much under the surface of the LDS church that the common outsider will never see. It's so easy to excuse the whole cult-like organization as just a "faith" when you meet these great people who are just in the wrong place at the wrong time in history. These people exist already as great lights to those around them. The church has completely permeated and indoctrinated these communities. The cult thrives and rides on the backs of these brilliant, relatable, kind, and "normal" Mormons, who hide the true reality of the church. like the Tom Cruises of the Scientology Cult. The church just takes and takes. Your money, your time, your thoughts, everything. Much more insidious than many other cults. It's low-key. It takes just enough that it goes unnoticeable given enough time, for people like Tom and Matt. It's easy for outsiders to look past as a result. It's a real shame. It's such a simple problem. The story the LDS church provides is completely fabricated and well documented in modern history. Regardless of how educated, humble, or hard working a Mormon is: anyone willing to ignore that reality will probably do just about anything for their church and community. This is where it becomes a cult. It is no longer just a set of beliefs for these people, it's a culturally defining system that dictates nearly every aspect of their lives and local communities. It runs deep into the members, businesses, organizations, and government here. This place was built and designed upon falsehood. You can't escape the LDS church without moving far away from this region, or losing many of your fundamental connections to friends, family, and roots here. It's by design of the LDS church. God wouldn't need you to jump through all these hoops to find his salvation. The LDS church is a 500 billion dollar business and organization that knows if you jump once, you'll probably jump through any hoop they ask you too. They are profiting off of one of the most delicate aspects of the human experience. A pre-planned path to something greater, in exchange for your time, action, thoughts, and money. Sucks bad. Steer clear of the LDS Church. Be kind to those who don't know better.
@@XcoolcoolbeansbeansXwrong, stop spreading misinformation. and don’t tell us what we believe or how we live our lives. you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about
@@nalder1093 It's not about you. It's about the history, which the modern LDS church tries very, very hard to distance itself from. If you don't believe in the stuff Joseph Smith taught, that is great. As XcoolcoolbeansbeansX said, there is well documented history, plus now, the internet.
@@XcoolcoolbeansbeansX If TomTom is going to hell because he is a Mormon, then there is going to be some pretty great people there to hang out with. Mormons are the best people. I mean sure there some crazies, but that is true of all religions, and atheism as well. I mean, I bet there are even people who believe what you believe who have nothing better to do than tear down someone's religious beliefs in the comments on RUclips. Here are my thoughts on it. Jesus said, "By their fruits you shall know them," and there is just really so much greatness in the actual work that the Mormons do. And there is a happiness, a joy, that you can see in their face. I knew that Matt and Tom were Mormons even though I had never heard any evidence about it until today's video. If you see darkness in a church and in people who do their best to follow Jesus in their own way, then maybe you should check to see if the darkness you see isn't, as the psychologists say, projection.
@@nalder1093save your breath, haters got to hate. Besides they would never acknowledge a guy with a degree in Physics and a Masters in Nuclear Engineering would ever be smart enough to think for himself...
@@donmcannar800I dont think its about that. In youtube world a lot of people eventually leave bigger channels when they get famous enough to start their own channel. It happends all the time actually. Tom Tom can now work on a stuff he wants and get the views (money) for it.
@@donmcannar800 I think some saw the money Matt was getting and thought they should get a cut of the pie. Also think they figure I can do this YT thing and are doing it. You get to remember its a job as well not just play time. People change jobs. There been a few car builder tv shows that came out and said that they had people leave because they thought they should get more money because there was getting money from the show as well and client but the owners of the shops actually showed where they wasn't even making money most jobs because of all the BS the show wanted them to do .
Something else to consider in regards to what seems to be a high turnover: It is hard to schedule life around rescue calls. Some are just fine with reacting to a random schedule for work, but it wears on others. The same could be said for any line of work that requires on-call/stand-by. Everyone has different chapters in life, so there may be nothing nefarious about the turn over of employees.
He's done some interviews about that. That's usually something someone else puts out. Derek from VGG did an interview with Matt on one of his channels, or the O'Reilly channel about that.

Congratulations on opening your own shop! You'll be missed on Matt's Off Road Recovery.
Oh man, I'm going to miss the interactions between you and Matt and the crew. There was a kind of magic in your interactions. That was a special highlight of MORR vids for me. I wish you well on your new enterprise and will be watching to see what you are doing. You are one really likeable guy and I know Matt and the crew will miss having you around, although I know your relationship is special and you won't be a stranger. Will certainly be looking forward to seeing the new Dig Dug helping out with a recovery or two in the future. Best of luck in your new shop and many happy adventures to come.
Yes. Tom provided the sensible "get it done right" approach that balanced the off-the-wall "close enough (maybe)" stuff.
tom seemed like a natural in front of the camera in the shop and on the road. Chemistry was there and Tom is very intelligent and has an excellent skill set. I'm jealous of the talent of there crew. It's never we can't fix it, it's how long is it gonna take to fix it. One of the draw of the show is their ability to fix anything it seems which is really cool for those that appreciate that kind of thing
Good luck, Tom. Something tells me we'll see you in future MORR videos. And of course we'll be seeing you here.
Not only the bad apple subscribers but just wait, the click-baiters will be posting tag lines like "what really happened…” just to get views they aren’t talented enough to get on their own without dropping names. Tom Tom and Matt Matt will both be fine.
@@thomasbordelon4149 Yep, I remember seeing video suggestions for disparaging Matt of failures Matt had in the past form other you tubers about a year ago. I just ignored all those click bait videos. I didn't care what Matt went through years ago of business failings. I enjoy the MORR channel and Matt talks about what made him who he is today when he chooses. Wasn't going to give the click baiting you-tubers who disparage successful tubers just for a few clicks.
Love you Tom Tom! So many good dad jokes. You were always so courteous and kind to the clients regardless what got them into trouble. All the best to you and your family with your new channel. Will miss you but I know you will be back in the Matt’s shop from time to time
Your personality around Matt and the gang will be missed. Naturally your skill set too. Best of luck on this new channel.
Your channel will grow like crazy as you are an honest down to earth person. Plus, you have a lot of exceptional talent.
Holy Cow! That old picture of Jamie with the family...WOW, she hasn't aged a day and still looks so amazing. Matt married an Angel.
Jamie's awesome!!!

That claw hammer bit at the end got me good, lol. I've been watching MORR for four years and it got to the point all I was watching was the builds. So I was excited when you started your channel and I think you're off to a great start and can't wait to see more content.
Well said. The builds have been my favorite episodes, even more so after Tom arrived at MORR. Matt's respect for Tom's intelligence has been evident from the beginning, the degrees were no surprise to me.
Can’t wait to see all the tape measures, rulers, vernier calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices used on your builds! Good friends always support each other, no matter what!! Looking forward to what’s next with you Tom Tom!!
Tom, Love how you glazed over" nuclear engineer degree"...master's @ that...who knew...but NOT surprised. So excited for your new channel!!!! I'm in!!! You GOT THIS!!!
nuclear engineer Blew my mind... That's so awesome. Also reiterates that he doesn't "need a job" doesn't need to get "youtube rich" he's probably very vested in his retirement etc funds, he's a smart guy obviously .
Yes, I was surprised when I heard that but thought "Of Course". Very knowledgeable guy who doesn't seem to shove that stuff in your face
Matt or Tom Tom have mentioned it in passing on Matt's channel a time or two. I've joked that Matt + TomTom = NuclearFarmgineering 😂
Tom is book learned. You can tell by how precise he is . Matt's a derby guy who builds by eye sight . If Tom Tom was not on the wrecker build it would not be the great vehicle it is ✓
I’m so glad you shared those old photos of you and Matt. You also answered a bunch of questions I’ve had over the years. Great video
I just now found out Tom left MOR. So obviously this is an automatic subscription for me. Tom is one of my fave people in MOR and I am curious to see where this channel goes. This reminds me quite a bit when Will Stelter left Alec Steele and that turned out quite okay. Looking forward to seeing more of this channel
Matt's Off-Road Recovery is an excellent launchpad for people to learn how to make a RUclips Channel successful. Then, they can leave Matt's employment and strike out on their own. Good Luck, Tom Tom, and I wish you all the success and followers you deserve...
Install AdBlock to your Chrome extensions, you'll never have to watch YT commericals again. Screw you, Neal Mohan!
Didn't work out for Trevor....
Getting me more inspired....

I love MattsOffRoadRecovery show and I hope to see you back on from time to time. I look forward to following both channels.
The editing is significantly better than most newbies
The guy is literally a nuclear engineer, I'm pretty sure editing video is fairly simple in comparison 😅 I can't do either, but I can guess which one I could figure out..
Good video editing is harder than it looks. Doing it right requires some planning before you shoot any video to make sure you get the shots you need. And I think most editing noobs don't understand how much time it takes. That's why you see a lot of either raw video on RUclips or channels with dedicated editors. If you're running a business, you can easily shoot video as part of the job. But editing is like a second job.
Bet you a bill he's using Matt's editors.
I can honestly say that you brought a lot to Matt's Offroad recovery with your interactions, wit, smarts, and made it that much more enjoyable with your personality and humor as well but I'm glad to see you're off on this new journey and I am definitely looking forward to more great content. Well said! Great person to look up to as well!
Hey Tom, I'm a 70 year old fabricator/sculptor, and have really appreciated your interactions with Matt. You have a good dose of common sense, and have introduced many good practices and proceedures into Matt's shop. As much as I appreciate the good natured theme of the off road recoveries, the Barney Rubble fabrication methods in the fab efforts drive me crazy. I look forward to seeing what you take on! Don't forget to stir some playfulness and jocularity into the mix! Cheers!
the shoddy builds and breakdows because of the hatchet work got me too. hard to watch

This precisely mirrors my thoughts. Good luck with your channel Tom.

Tom, I've been watching matts offroad recovery for quite some time. You have such talent I enjoy both you and Matt brainstorming and building the wrecker, the morrvair, the Golden nugget, and all in between. Looking forward to seeing your personalized projects. I've been disabled from work injuries and reoccurring illness for 15 years and seeing my desires being invented and created through these channels ( matts offroad recovery, fabrats, and now Tom Tom's garage) is amazing. Love what you do! A huge thank you for what you do!
Dude you're blowing up on RUclips look at your view count man that was so awesome your family has been so blessed
Tom Tom you were always my favorite cast member, you will be missed for sure. but I look forward to see your builds and work to come. Dig dug could use a light bar for sure. Best of luck!
I love that you met in your missions! I also served in Illinois Peoria mission. 01-03. Loved it! Good on ya! You’re living my best life! Good luck on your channel!
Tom, you have been a favorite on Matt's Recovery, but moving into your own channel will be great too. I look forward to seeing where you take it. Enjoy the ride!👍
We stopped in at MORR (our 2nd visit there) while traveling between Illinois & California last summer, and had the honor of meeting Angela there. She was so welcoming & kind! She also shared the story of how you and Matt met in Illinois, so it is cool to see some photos from that era!
Looking forward to more of your projects, Tom!
He's not "leaving" he's just evolving into his new form separately. He'll show up on each other's show once in a while.
You've been a big part of @MattsOffRoadRecovery for the last 18 months and have brought a lot of good content and respect towards Matt and team. I'm sure they will miss you. Thank you for all the wonderful Sunday morning fabrication memories. Looking forward to watching you build Dig Dug and whatever other projects you embark upon. Good luck!
It's nice seeing the history between yourself and Matt.
This video answered a lot of questions for me. I understand now why you packed up and moved to the wilds of Southern Utah. You two have the bonds brothers have. I never miss a episode of Matt's or Fab Rats. And now I have to follow you. Be well.
You’re a good man Tom! You were Matt’s voice of reason. You have my respect and support. Can’t wait to see your future work.
True. Now Matt will go insane! 😅
Glad we got more history, makes total sense now Tom. Thank you.
Wishing you all the very best Tom Tom on your new venture.
Cant lie, gonna miss ya on Matt’s channel, always looked forward to your input on builds. But looking forward to what the future holds for your new endeavor. God Bless.
The claw hammer bit at the end was great. Good luck on your future endeavors Tom Tom. Look forward to the upcoming builds.
Was that a 'CLAW' or was it a 'RIP' hammer ???
I Started watching Matts channel years ago and watched ever video up to a little after the corvair. I got busy and just now have some time to catch up. Glad you're doing you're own thing and loved those younger year picture's, so crazy to look back in time. Hope you and Mattcan still colab from time to time and looking forward to the future.
Thanks for this video, Tom. I’m thrilled for you; working in your own shop and doing your own projects.

Looking forward to seeing your builds and where you take this. You have become a part of a bigger family and community . Keep forging ahead and take us with you. We will support you and your channel will grow.
You and Lizzy made Matt's channel, it's going to be hard to stay a subscriber..
Thanks for making his channel watchable..
God bless your new journey.
As much as I’d love Lizzy to be making videos from her ranch or wherever I’m happier for her that she is out of the limelight and living her best life.
@@deadbeatdon I agree, it was just cool to see a down to earth, young lady, that used her talent and not her body to get people to watch, This world needs more classy ladies, like Lizzy.
Lizzy was the ❤️ of the channel.
I loved them both but I still follow them. Rudy moved on as well and is doing his own thing now too. That's how things go. Matt's team is always evolving and changing
I'm so glad this is all made transparent! I'm so glad the split is a happy one. Matt seems very supportive of everyone who has their own dreams. I will be watching this channel now too. Best of luck!
You were a great part of the MORR team. I hope to see you continue to team up with Matt and the team while building your projects. The Dig Dig project is a must! It’s been a favorite since you joined the MORR team.
I binged MORR content for at least a year a while ago. Went through almost every video there is. You stood out for me as one of the favorites in the team. And I'm definitely subbing for the shop content as that's what I'm interested the most in.
Thank you for setting the record straight coming out the gate. Pray for your success. 👍

I’m happy for you Tom Tom, and sad for Matt - but now I’ll have two cool channels to watch! I also think it’s awesome that you and Matt were missionary companions back in the day and have stayed connected. Sadly, none of my old companions live nearby, but 50% of them are Brazilians, so that’s to be expected.
That ending with the Claw Hammer!! Too Funny. Some wont get it but Matt will get it. And that parting shot! or rather parting tire spin!! LMAO (Piston's on the Bus go up and down!).

Tom, I wish well in your new venture. I will enjoy watching your growth on the channel. Have a blast......

Glad you’ve gone solo Tom, and Dig Dug deserves the attention 👍
Good Luck with your new adventure Tom Tom. Looking forward to your projects
Since I've been watching Matt's off road recovery, it seems like he goes through a lot of people. Good luck on your journey.
Yeah you have to wonder if maybe he's not the ray of sunshine that everyone paints him to be! Good luck Tom!
It seems to me that if you sell everything to move there you never planned to leave. Yet, here we are.
I'm a draftsman and I love your attention to detail and precision.
Sir Tom Tom, this was the most respectful video I’ve ever seen. Never hit the sub button so fast. Can’t wait to see where your journey takes you!!
It’s your personality that I’ll miss on Matt’s channel, but I’m glad you got a channel.
It’s nice to finally see a backstory about you and Matt. I never understood why Matt hasn’t done a video on how he got to where he is now.
He's done some interviews about that. That's usually something someone else puts out. Derek from VGG did an interview with Matt on one of his channels, or the O'Reilly channel about that.
I wondered if you would address two questions i had left on a previous video.
"Why Tom Tom?" and "Why Dig Dug?"
You are a top bloke and I'm going to miss you at MORR, the rapor you have with Matt is one born out of mutual respect and that is valuable.

There is a lot of great stuff to do in your shop. I think one of the successful aspects of Matt's Channel is the high school kids that are always over there helping him out. I hope you can get a High school kid out there that you can mentor maybe your son if he is into that, or maybe someone else. Also, you know as well as I do that you will be over at Matt's shop all the time. It might take a few months to find out who you are in your new place, but when things settle down you will still be doing stuff with him often. God Speed Brother.
