RCI Rock Sliders: F150 Ford Tremor Gets A Rockin' Upgrade!

- Опубликовано: 11 фев 2024
- Today's video is all about replacing our previous running boards on our 2022 F150 Tremor with RCI Rock Sliders. We've tackled 1000's of miles of trails using our stock re-enforced running boards BUT they have taken a beating! They really weren't providing the level of side protection we needed to be completely confident on deep off camber obstacles. RCI Rock Sliders are quality and can be a straight forward, self-install with a little help from friends!

Thanks for the info on the sliders, I need to get some buddies over at Halo Lifts! Looking forward to spring here in Utah!!
Can never have enough friends!
I got one of the very first sets from RCI for my 17. They did not fit. On my 17 there’s what looks like a manual parking brake bracket that would not let the mounting plate mount to the frame. I called RCI and they had me send pics and got back with me in just a few hours. They talked to their engineers and even went out and looked at a few employees trucks in the parking lot. Looks like there’s quite a few frame variations in the F150 based on year and not generation. RCI offered a full refund and return shipping or offered to pay for a fab shop to modify them for me. After we got the truck up on the lift you could see that parking brake bracket was just welded to the frame and if cut off there’d be no structural issues. 5 min with a grinder and problem solved. I can’t say enough about RCI. I had already bedlined the sliders prior to the install issues and most manufacturers would of prob just told me to pack sand since they’d been painted but RCI worked with me and made things right. As far as function I was out running around some t-tracks and orchards. I caught a stump with one at about 15mph. It threw the entire truck sideways and jerked the steering wheel out of my hand hard enough to tear to ligaments and break a bone in my hand. ZERO damage to the sliders or my truck. Another huge bounce is they stick out far enough to prevent door dings in parking lots. Sorry long winded
Awesome story! RCI has never done me wrong either.
Can you elaborate on exactly what the parking brake mod is in order to get the sliders on? I have a '16 f-150 and RCI told me the sliders wouldn't work for that very reason. They are pretty much the only shop making frame-mounted true sliders for ford supercrews with 6 1/2' beds. Even though the F-150 isn't a primary off-road vehicle like jeep or tacoma, the lack of aftermarket support in this area for the best selling truck forever is pretty frustrating. Surely there are enough people off roading with f-150's to justify the market for these things.
@TheMattfranz hi Matt. No doubt f150 needs more love in the off roading community. We're over here trying! As far as a "brake mod" I'm not sure what you're referring to. Maybe on the 16 the cable runs on the outside? I would assume you'd have to move it inside the frame. That's the only thing I can think of. The sliders mount to the outside frame under, so obviously that area would have to be free from cables. Hope this helps!
I thoroughly enjoy the video and honest reviews of products. I noticed a lot of your stuff is installed @halo lifts. I'm planning on going up there from Colorado springs area soon.
Thanks! Yes Kevin and I have become friends over the last couple years. I pretty much install 95% of everything over there at the shop. Good honest people!
Man. Every time I watch one of your videos highlighting cool stuff for the Tremor, my bank account gets a little lighter.
Welcome to my world 😂
Whats the wildest most beautiful trail you ever been on?
Tough question! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love the desert my wife tends to like the trees better. Lost river range in Idaho and Mojave EMHT are probably my favorite most wild places.
How abrasive is the top plate? Could you stand on it barefoot?
Yes, it's not that abrasive. Enough to help you not slip, but definitely not painful.
