  • Today's video is a Ford F150 Tremor off road review for Road Active Suspension. Our goal for installing RAS is to increase lift and improve stability and traction control so that we can confidently explore more challenging trails. You'll see installation of the Road Active Suspension Kit from RAS which is simple and straight forward. Then watch as we off road test our new RAS system on Top of the World Trail. We run into more than just off road obstacles! Road Active Suspension is also designed to improve towing and hauling so we test that too. See if RAS might be an option for you!

    I mentioned I would pin this comment once I measured how much drop we would lose. To my surprise, The drop is Not effected at all by the RAS. 9:26

    I’ve had RAS on my F-150 now for two years. Not only does it not just handle better with less squat loaded or unloaded. It prevents axle wrap and wheel hop. I have a tune & some other performance goodie’s on my coyote motor, it handles the power more planted.

    I could have used this on my trip out to Colorado last week. Towing a single axle 6x12 trailer gave me a bit more squat than expected. Towed it like a champ (9mpg IN-CO-IN) but did squat with 4 people in the truck and a 3000# trailer.

      Yeah! I pinned a comment in the community tab. After I uploaded I learned that I personally installed it wrong. So I wanted to fix that so I wasn't giving everyone bad advice!

    @TremorTrails, I've used before on a 14 FX4 and went to bags on the 18 RAM and buying these from halo lifts tonight actually since hes having a sale. Thanks for the tips on installing them on the TREMOR!

      Good stuff! The Tremor has a slightly different leaf setup than standard F150's.

    I switched holes last week , no more squeaking now i have a clunking when flexing the suspension.🤪

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  11 месяцев назад

      If I remember correctly. I had that sound too when I first put them on. I hardly notice it now. Only on hard flex do I from time to time hear the clunk. It's a spring and metal. Probably not much we can do about that.

    For your rust try spraying the bolts down with liquid film should be good to go

    When I installed mine a couple months ago, I called and asked them about the spacer they didn't have them made up yet. I ended up trimming the sides of my bump stops. I haven't smashed my light leveler yet. But I do have some squeaking noises. They suggested I move the front bolt back a hole or two for the tremor.

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah, you'll want to use the 3rd hole up front. If you reach out to them, they'll send you the right spacer for free. Another person mentioned the squeaking on his. I personally haven't noticed it on mine yet.

    The box comes with 2 sets of bolts (short and long) and say you have to pick the correct ones for the Tremor. How are you supposed to know if the Tremor needs the short or long ones?

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  Месяц назад +1

      The long ones for larger blocks.

    Are you running the RAS with your Dirtbox? If so, how's that combo working out? I added the Dirtbox to my Tundra, and am about to get the RAS. Seems like a good middle of the road solution. Interested in your thoughts.

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, currently running the RAS. No real major issues. Height is great, no sag, ect.

    waiting for a hidden winch mount for my 23 tremor. Now I see the 24 with the winch bumper option. I wonder if it will fit a 23? I have all those stupid nannies in my bumper. I was going to weld up a kit bumper and figured I would have to relocate and lengthen the wires to all the sensors.

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah, only real option for the 3.5 is relocating the inter cooler. The new setup will work if you just doing basic trails. But anything challenging will most likely be an issue due to the approach angle.

    Currently building my tremor for overland and watch all your videos. I’m curious with this being a few months old, if you’re still using it or have decided to remove them for any reason.

    • @TremorTrails

      They are currently not on. I've been working with Deaver on a leaf spring package to help out the rear. I really like the RAS my only issue was at hard articulation the bracket would sometimes make contact with the frame. If we can't figure out a solution at Deaver, I'll be putting them back on.

    After hours of work, it’s installed but loud noise when suspension compresses (driving over a bump). It seems that the bolt hits the metal fin from the light levelers. This is despite using the 2nd hole per the instructions. Extremely frustrating. Do you know if the 3rd hole should be used instead?

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  Месяц назад

      @birdymeo yes, 3rd hole. I've mentioned to them that for the Tremor, the instructions are wrong. Guess they still haven't changed them.

    • @birdymeo
      @birdymeo Месяц назад

      @@TremorTrails your video says « all you have to do is move the bolt one or two holes ». I can confirm that moving it one hole (to the second hole) is not enough. It’s actually enough if you have the RAS bolt that’s smashing the sensor point outward toward the wheels but it is not if you have it pointing inward like mine (because the culprit bolt goes past the nut). This is why the 2nd hole can work if you are lucky, in 50% of the cases.

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  Месяц назад

      @@birdymeo mine is in 3rd hole.

    About to order the HD version for my 23 tremor that I use to pull a 4300lb landscaping trailer. Sits about level now with the factory rake, but I also have an Autospring 2.3” front level on the way so I figured I would need anything. Are there any special things to know for installing on a tremor? All I see is info on a regular f150 and I don’t know if there’s anything different that needs to be done.

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  8 месяцев назад +1

      Pretty much identical except the light leveler on the rear driver. Make sure you go a few holes inward.

    • @campoffthemap8307
      @campoffthemap8307 8 месяцев назад

      @@TremorTrails appreciate the reply - do you know if the tremor specific spacers come in the box or do I need to let them know before I order? Also, any idea if the increased rear ride height will cancel out my level? Only thing that had me concerned. Don’t mind a little rake at all, just not a fan of the top fuel dragster look that it’s got stock.

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  8 месяцев назад +1

      Definitely let them know what year you're running on the Tremor. As far as lift I believe it's an additional 1.50 so it won't be major. Just firms up the backend.

  • @thomassullivan1207

    That incorrect installation which resulted in the light leveler breaking, I see that all over the internet. I'm not sure if it's because RAS doesn't do a good job of explaining it, but there are multiple hole locations in the bracket for a reason. The pivot point of the RAS needs to be as close to the axle as possible (for it to work the best and most efficiently) but yet I'm constantly seeing people install it 4, 5, 6 (or more) inches behind the U bolts on the axle.

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  9 месяцев назад

      Yep! The instructions they were sending out were incorrect. They have since updated.
