    The Boss. The One Who Waits. The Toymakers' legions. Mrs. Flood. Susan Triad. Ruby's origins. And now the memory TARDIS. I'm concerned amidst all these ongoing mysteries they might forget to tell some good individual stories. Is every episode going to have to refer to one or more of these themes? RTD is strong on thematics, less good on plot and the fact he's written so much of this season suggests we could have more than a couple of episodes that surrender their storyline to these mystery boxes. Much as i love The Giggle, it takes a big tonal shift to deal with the bi-generation. Really hoping we get stories like Midnight or even Wild Blue Yonder that arent saddled with these mystery boxes.

    • @CulturePhilter
      @CulturePhilter  2 месяца назад +2

      I’m similarly a bit worried about how many Mysteries they have set up. I made a video about it a few Months ago. I think a lot of shows have forgotten that story arcs don’t HAVE to be mysteries.

    • @AllThePiecesMatter_
      @AllThePiecesMatter_ 2 месяца назад +2

      @@CulturePhilter or that there doesn't have to be much of an arc at all. Ecclestons series was strong, with a great finale, but the Bad Wolf arc was referred to fleetingly and was the only mystery. Which allowed stories like Dalek and The Empty Child to breathe.

    • @CulturePhilter
      @CulturePhilter  2 месяца назад +1

      @@AllThePiecesMatter_ I like arcs. But EVERY Doctor Who arc has taken the form of a mystery. I’d really like to see an arc with a developing situation without a mystery element. Star Trek DS9 did this well with the gradual build up of the dominion war… Doctor Who has never done anything like that in the modern age.

    My theory is that something happens to Ruby...Maybe she gets removed from existence and people deny that she exists and the Doctor visits the Memory TARDIS to bring back everyone's memories of Ruby and in return Ruby herself.
    Or something happened when he was out of the TARDIS and in order to figure out what happened, he uses the Memory TARDIS to replay the events of his absence, like the pensieve in Harry Potter.

    • @CulturePhilter
      @CulturePhilter  2 месяца назад +1

      I have a feeling even though they were released first Tales is going to effectively be more of a spin-off of whatever happens here than the other way around.
      I think this was devised of FIRST and the tales capitalized on already having a set built. So Tales won’t be necessary to understand anything that goes on here.

    IF the 2nd doctor somehow returns (most likely an alternate timeline bigenerated version) I would prefer if he was played by Michael Troughton (Patrick Troughton's son). He played him very well in big finish. They could use the bigeneration to explain his slightly different appearance (that he is older).

I mean we have seen a lot of amazing different Dr Who eras years and series sibce RTDs first era and i feel RTD is trying to "compete" lightly with what weve had from Moff and Chibnall ....just my angle anyway 💙💙

    They've hinted that the Tardis interior will progressively update, with it getting chairs and the random jukebox.

  • @adammarrs9266
    @adammarrs9266 2 месяца назад

    It would be very cool if the Second Doctor made an appearance to speak with the Fifteenth Doctor, I wonder why they would get drawn to the Memory TARDIS and what it could possibly be about, as it can't be anything good given Ncuti's Doctor screaming in horror. I believe Patrick Troughton's son David would be the perfect casting choice because not only does he look just like his dad but also has a very similar voice as well. Given Russell teased that the bi-generation actually happened across the Doctor's entire timeline, then it very well could be the bi-generated Second Doctor. I do believe that the Doctors who showed up in TOTT were also the bi-generated versions of Five, Six, and Seven so this would add up to this as well, but we'll have to see what happens!

    • @CulturePhilter
      @CulturePhilter  2 месяца назад

      I really hope he doesn’t put that thing about bi-generation happening to all doctors on screen. It doesn’t make sense with how we saw bigeneration work in The Giggle. It almost sounds like Russell is conflating his Bigeneration concept and the concept of parallel timelines where whatever doctor didn’t regenerate.
