I totally agree. I became aware of all of this during the pandemic/quarantine. Watching shows and being on social media was no longer fun. I forced myself to do “slow” activities like reading, painting, working on puzzles, quiet nature walks, etc. and I found it to be much more fulfilling and my mind felt more at ease. Fast forward to now, I did force myself to read on the train and not listen to any music while on the way somewhere when the urge to get on social media and use entertainment devices hits me. Now I don’t have to force myself to do these things cause I actually enjoy it.
So true. And from a faith perspective, we are definitely called to be still and to have quiet time with God. But even now, I came to find this video while I quickly make some stir fry...cos what was I gna go? Cook in the quiet?! 😅
I'm loving the boredom revolution that is starting to take place. I quit all other social media apps years ago but RUclips was the last one I was still addicted to. I recently drastically scaled back my time on RUclips after feeling severely overloaded. I noticed that I was overconsuming others lives, achievements and advice. The older I get the more I'm trying to be more in tune with my own life. Something I've been enjoying recently is just sitting and trying to remember memories from the past- people, places, extraordinary events etc. Like you said, I'm starting to notice that my brain is "rotting" especially where memories are concerned. Fantastic video!
I am a writer and have ADHD I used to hate bored, until I suffered the longest writer's block I've ever had and I leaned into feeling bored. That has become my superpower now, I like sitting at a train platform waiting for my train and create stories of the commuters in my head. I think I've even created a story about the pair of magpies that have made a nest in a tree in front of the platform I use everyday.
Wholeheartedly agree, a few tips that I incorporated is leaving my phone at home sometimes (especially when I’m with most of the people who tend to contact) Going out to dinner, phone is faced down even if the rest of the table doesn’t want to participate. For the iPhone users, offloading has become my best friend, especially if I’m not ready to delete an app just yet or hiding an app somewhere you don’t see it often.
lol that is why I am learning French because I am BORED of social media and even many shows too lol. I needed something to stimulate my damn mind! lol (I already workout to keep me busy too lol)
I am French can I help you ? 🩷 I am also a student of foreign language and cinema but I am definetly trying to speak like a native which is very hard. So we can help each other right ?
Lmao I'm learning French too! Really makes me feel like I'm doing sth useful for my brain even when I don't have enough time to study as much as I'd like to. P.S. Adella spitting facts as usual!
I love how you look like you know what you’re talking about, you sound like you know what you’re talking about, and you KNOW what you’re talking about 🥰 💜
Honestly boredom is great! It gives your brain a break from all the noise. I genuinely don’t believe we were meant to be constantly entertained, overstimulation cannot be healthy and is frying our brains. It’s in the quiet nothingness that I hear God and get clarity for things. I think it’s important to be bored to also forge your own thoughts and filter out the thoughts and information planted in your mind through hours of scrolling or video watching. Sleep shouldn’t be the only time your brain gets to rest and process information, boredom helps with this 0:06
I neeeed help with this. I've been feeling convicted lately about my inability to sit still and be BORED. Especially as a Christian--how am I supposed to meditate on God's word when my microwave brain wants entertainment now! Doing nothing makes me anxious :(
I still love to people watch. I pray I never get tired of doing so coz I notice how much we’re all tied to our devices & how much in our surroundings we all miss by being on said devices
This is a good video I did this yesterday - not listening to music during a 1 hr 30 minute drive, though I was on my phone every now and again. I do feel like being off social media can help a lot, especially when I'm deactivated but discipline and focus is key to utilise the brain and time more!
The more boredom the more of your own imagination becomes there for manifestation of Creativity. Lack of silence lack of creativity or being organal lack of imagination. Blessings 💜
I usually don’t comment on YT videos but I really enjoyed watching this. You articulated what I’ve been thinking over the past few weeks. Sometimes I’ll sit in silence in my living room just to be lol some people find that weird but it is therapeutic.
GREAT VIDEO!!! I hope this reaches a huge audience, I think everyone can benefit from at least hearing this, if not internalizing the advice and putting it in to action! I appreciate you making this, and hearing that you came up with the idea whilst practicing what you're preaching puts it into perspective and leaves the video on such a motivating note. Love this video so much, great work
Brilliant video, Adella! I love that the idea and scripting of the video came in a moment of boredom, wonder, creativity, and stillness. It's harder to access God's brilliance when we are distracted by the world's subpar noise.
Hey Adella, really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with Best Quality Editing in your videos better than your Editor with good pricing and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your videos to reach to a wider audience ? Pls let me know what do you think ?

I love this. I might have to try puzzles!
Now imagine kids who are constantly exposed to screens before their brains are fully developed or are still developing 😢 so sad

True words. In stillness, productivity can be attained. Need to stop frying we brains

Lol love this!
@@aimee9478 I can give you my Instagram so we can practice and chat ? :)
I am so incredibly bored. Social media seems so cyclical, there’s nothing really new out there.
I love how you look like you know what you’re talking about, you sound like you know what you’re talking about, and you KNOW what you’re talking about 🥰 💜

I feel you on this. Honestly I think starting small e.g. no phone or music when you're cooking, or travelling etc really helps you practice this! x
I totally agree! I now walk without my phone most of the times intentionally, just to rest the brain

People watching is actually so fun. I need to do this more!
@@AdellaAfadi it really is. I like to make up scenarios in my head about people. It’s like my own live tv show 🙈
Bordem would push us int creativity. Making up games and ideas. Writing fan fiction even. I applying for jobs when bored lol
