    This is the second video i have made but this one the engine is out of the vehicle whereas the first video the engine was in the vehicle but the main point of this video i can clearly show the flywheel timing pin hole through the engine block.

    This is the best video about cambelt replacement in Mondeo mk5 I found on the internet.I'd say it is a follow up the one where Alan showed on the car. There is one IMPORTANT thing I'd add for people like me (amateur mechanic) as I did the cambelt change for the first time: after you do the whole timing procedure do the test, clean the hole from the old glue of crank pulley bolt and bolt it self so you can screw the bolt to the end with just your fingers, put just the pulley on and tighten the bolt with a wrench (just about 50Nm service manual). When everything is fine like on Alan's video, use a new ford screw which comes with glue on it. I used torque wrench and did as the service manual says, first stage 70Nm, second 110 degrees. It's good to find ford service manual on the internet and use their torque values for other screws as well, so you won't damage the thread, but it will be tight enough. Thank you Alan!

    Hi alan thank you for your in detail videos of the 2 0hdi psa engines. My citroen c4 grand picasso is now running again thanks to the videos although the citroen is not as easy as the mondeo. Because the belt lost 75% of its teeth meant i struggled to time it up because the tab on theflywheel was broken off. Also to note number 1 cylinder is at gearbox end not the cam belt end. Thanks again im 1 happy viewer. Keep the vids coming.

    Hi Alan. Good explaining video as many others. I have a MK4 and the procedure is very similar with few differences. I have attempted to replace water pump as it was leaking and obviously had to remove all timing in order to do so. Now the camshaft was not lined up with crankshaft. So if I would bring the camshaft to locking point, could not lock the flywheel. If I would bring the flywheel to locking point, the camshaft was not lining up. It was around 1/2 turn back. So flywheel locked, camshaft locking hole was around 10 o'clock whereas the locking position is around 3-4 o'clock. In order to line the up, I have removed timing belt after locking the camshaft in correct position and turned the crankshaft over by hand about 2 or 4 revolutions (believe it was 4) in order to bring the flywheel to lock position. While turning the crankshaft this got to a point where I can't turn it clockwise anymore. Seems like stuck. So obviously I'd messed up all timing now. 🤦 Was wondering if you can share any thoughts of what could I do next to bring timings to default. Would I be OK to turn crankshaft anticlockwise about 4 revolutions and try again? I would appreciate if you can take few min to help out. Thanks

    • @lucianc.5677
      @lucianc.5677 10 месяцев назад +1

      Well no need anymore I believe. I have removed starter motor, flywheel exposed and could see it only has one locking point/hole. Technically you could spin it over and over still you'll be able to lock it only in one correct position. It was me running out of strength after hours under the car that made me believe the flywheel got stuck. Silly me. Oh well better crack on with it.

    You're correct, you should never use the flywheel timing pin to lock the crankshaft for anything other than timing. Laser and other manufacturers make a flywheel locking tool which bolts into the holes for the starter if you have to undo the crankshaft pulley bolt by hand.

      @alan4x  4 года назад

    👊👊👊 great stuff‼️I found out that the repositioned lower locking hole allows locking without removal of the starter motor. I tried the paint marking of the flywheel teeth method but spent about 40 mins trying to pry the teeth back to the marked position without success. So, with nothing to lose I just felt for that lower hole, found it (Eureka!) plonked my 8mm drill bit in, number one son cranked while I pushed the bit and PLONK! In it went. Cam timing hole lined up exactly. Eureka times a zillion!! 💥 Much deep joy!. The money you are saving us geezers! Where do I send the beer money?

    Hi again Alan. Just wanted to know (with regard to my kuga high pressure pump job that I must still attend to), is that engine your doing the timing belt on an XRMA engine just like I have on my kuga. As if it is, I can remove the top timing belt cover without removing the engine mount. There is just enough room to wriggle out the cam cover bolt next to the mounting. All I want to do is just get it out of the way only a small bit to inset a shortend 6mm drill bit to set cam to pump timing. Wil I get away with it I wonder.
    Regards and thanks again Alan.

    Hi Alan! I have a Volvo V50 from 2007, 2.0d engine (ford engine) I have problems starting when the engine is cold, after starting the engine shakes and has an unstable idle and emits white smoke, consumes oil! I changed the spark plug relay, spark plugs and injectors (new parts), then I made the diagnosis and it shows me the same errors, relay spark plugs and spark plugs! help me with some advice please

    Citroen Jumpy 2008 has this engine.
    Does it have hole for flywheel lock under startmotor? - Nope.
    Does it have a hole for flywheel lock somewhat above/behind the starter? - Yep.
    Does it have a corresponding hole in the flyeheel? _ Nope.
    Does it have drainplug on waterpump? - Nope.
    Does the camshaft fit itself in a position where it flex back somewhat to not stay center for the 8mm lock bolt? - Yep.
    Working with cars is wonderful.
