      Dan can order a Tent that would be much better than that Turft one and he is informed that they will build it for him . Knowing how slow these French people have been in the past . I would order one of those Air Pump Tents . He could get it in the mail alot faster .

      @Ragnar8504 Год назад +1

      My best guess would be the ground level around the chateau was raised considerably during the build and they didn't bother backfilling underneath the stairs but if there's actually a cobbled floor down there that guess doesn't make all that much sense.

  • @kareliask
    @kareliask Год назад +33

    Once you begin rebuilding the collapsed cellar walls, it might be interesting to add a cupboard style door to those hidden spaces, if anything just for a bit of extra storage. It'd be a shame to block them back up again, and they might make good utilities closets too, for battery storage, or anything really. If The Pethericks are anything to go by, you'll need all of those regular cellar rooms for storing building materials and furniture when you get into rebuilding the upper floors :P

    Remember to buy some plastic halloween skeletons, and leave them in those hidden rooms, along with an old bag or tin can with "treasure" inside (maybe a time capsule with this years stuff put inside).

    Don't let your friend haul away any rock, that you might need later for masonry work, in and outside the structure, if he hauls it away it will be buried under a pile of ruble

    It does make such a difference now you have cleared those floors! It must help you feel so much more positive (you are positive anyway we can see, but even more) as you can now see the wood for the trees. I really hope you find something fantastic in that gap! You are right though about us not approving of you going under there on your own! But I think I would have done the same! Just make sure someone else is around when you dig it all out, for safeties' sake. Thank you for this video, taking us on your life's journey with you. xxx

    The areas you showed don't really strike me as rooms per se, but just extensions(?) of the foundation as needed for various features of the building. What is clear in some of the background images is that there are some serious foundation repairs to be done, to maintain continuity of support for the remaining shell.
    I do agree that some of that stone work looks older than other areas.

      A lot of the iron work in the concrete of the roof of the basement looks v rusty. Is that safe as floor/ceiling for the future?

    So much more done today so well done Dan. Its exciting finding those hidded spaces, it will all make sense as you progress maybe hidden tunnel entrances leading off from cellar. What would we do without our first cup of coffee in the morning. 💕🇦🇺

    Since the rubble you are pulling out is rather fine, could you spread it evenly around your chateau and compact it to have a solid surface while the place is under construction. It keeps out the mud and provides solid ground for machinery.
    If you don’t want it right around your chateau, put it where you plan you future car parking area.
    Chateau La Lacelle used the debris from inside the chateau to create an access road to the chateau.
    The debris is the base layer and the put gravel on top.
