That yurt is far more ornamental than I had imagined! It’s a very luxurious yurt indeed. Rather perfect for a classy chateau owner/restorer like yourself. Sweet dreams, Dan.
Same thoughts!
It will be perfect in the future for overflow guests etc as well. It will be a great feature of the property
A six berth second hand caravan would be more practical and most probably cheaper, but I suppose it's better than a pitched tent!?!
@@taylorh.6477 Even wedding parties or family reunions, or masterclass on cooking or something else could be there.
Its beautiful!!!
No one can ever say you don’t work for everything you get Dan. I must say I feel so relieved you now have a comfortable place to lay you head. Well done young fella 😊
Not quite yet, floor to finish off so a couple of days and doing burning when the tents up must be out of the question, plan B!?!
@@thomasherrin6798 At the very least Dan will have to pin up the sides of the tent & pin up the sides of the tent and only burn in the middle, not the very edges and have a coupe of buckets of water ready to douse any errant flames. Then he can paint the very edge of the platform in an oil-based water proof paint, along with the outside edges and the edges of the insulation to waterproof the bit on the outside as well. He could even paint the lower portion of the lattice work that touches the platform for extra measure. The yurt is beautiful!!!
@@thomasherrin6798 ...come to think of it ...if he does insist on burning the rest of the platform, he absolutely needs a FIRE EXTINGUISHER ready at hand as well as several buckets of water!!
It never fails to amaze me how much work you get done all by yourself Dan. You have incredible stamina and strength of character to accomplish all you set out to do. Very Impressive.
Dan, yurt is my native house, so cool to see you are going to live in one ❤ and support from Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 🇰🇿
That is so cool! Do you have a stove in the middle of the yurt and vent out the middle top flap? Is there anything essential Dan should know about living in a yurt? Are your walls and roof made of sheep or yak wool? I would be so interested to know.
Not cool . No shower, windows, electric for his Lights and computer . Wait till winter when you realize it has no insulation .
Kasakhstan! Must be a beautiful country! And you have the most beautiful flag I have ever seen!
It is going to feel like a palace after the tent
Fun for the boys to have the tent inside the yurt, they could make it their playroom 🎪
@@lynnmahoney6283 Great idea! The boys' own "room" inside the yurt!
And the Mongolian (or Tibetan?) Yurt is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
The yurt is beyond expectation. I’m so impressed with how the yurt looks. Didn’t realize it was going to be a traditional yurt versus and adaptation. Your guests are going to be mightily impressed.
Such a hard working, self driven, talentive, courageous, ambitious individual. 😊
Absolutely x
And very handsome too ❤
Thank you 😊
You deserve some rest, don’t ever apologize for taking time for yourself. We’d rather have you rested and ready to go vs dragging on and making mistakes
He Really looked like crap in that Good Morning shot!😢 I think he needs to start making sleep a little more of a priority!😂 If he ever has to be in the hospital, I imagine they'll have to cuff him to the bed like a prisoner, just so he can't get up & leave!❤ Rest Dan is just as important as work & food! (Good Thing a social life isn't important!)
Kinda made me cry a little seeing you work by the light of a single brightish garage lamp into the wee hours like this. Reminds me of my dad who never quit. Well he was far into his 80s when he quit. Sitting up in a chair, saying he was not ready to leave yet. He always made a path and marked it for others to follow. ❤
"He always made a path and marked it for others to follow" - what a beautiful epitaph. Brought a tear to my eye.
@@vfl5211me too
These are the days, months and years, that you will look back on with an absolute sense of immense accomplishment and joy.
Enjoy your new space and sleep!
Such a great point, I'm sure he will! :) And everything is SO well documented too. Dan won't have to rely on memory alone to tell the grandkids about the time grandpa built an entire chateau while living in a yurt
That yurt is awesome, plenty of room, the boys will think their living in a circus tent, so cool. Well done Dan, you’ll work out the floor I’m sure.
Circus tent the kids will love it
@@lindahedley9049 Trust me, the novelty will soon wear off.
I came to this channel to watch a chateau renovation, who knew I’d be absolutely captivated by watching Nick’s grounds maintenance and now… yurt construction! I can’t wait to see you finish the interior of the yurt now! Seems like no matter what you do, I’m here to watch, give you a thumbs up and make a comment just so you get all of the RUclips acknowledgments and revenue that you deserve. I can’t help you in person but I’ll do everything I can to help you in that small way! Much respect!!!!
just do rugs Dan and dont worry about burning and staining. This Yurt is going to be so cool to live in while you restore the Chateau
He does need to seal the wood, but I agree about finding rugs if he's dealing with that much of a time crunch.
Rugs will also keep it warmer in the winter winds!
Rugs not so practical on a muddy building site.
Also some throw pillows, perhaps from Stephanie? Pink Toile to remind him of a certain room?
@@katehobbs2008rag rugs and cotton kilims can either go into a large washing machine or be taken outside for a.beating when the muds dry. Leaving all outdoor footwear by the door helps enormously.
Come on folks don’t forget to 👍let’s encourage Dan the best we can.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️
Dan is a pro at this. It isn't the first Chateau he's done.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ absolutely.
I love this channel. 😃
Go Dan go!❤😊
And a comment for the almighty algorithm.
We don't often see it, but in addition to everything on his resume Dan speaks French very well.
Been watching Dan and his channel for a few years now and he hasn’t ever disappoint us. You go Dan!!! You are “The Man” 👍
To me a star comment appreciating your understanding of the famed algorithm. It must be obeyed. No way to signify star comment. But ✨✨✨✨✨🌟🤩
@@jillwestgarth9495 Dan is a pretty amazing young man and glad he is receiving the credit he deserves. From renovating his little farm house, gardening at De LaLande to this colossal renovation nobody could ask for more. He’s grown so much from when he first started. ⭐️👍🥰
Dan your new, semi-permanent home is amazing. And new scaffolding! Rest up
Simply BEAUTIFUL! The red accent colors with the door and the inner ceiling is such a wonderful surprise! Enjoy!
I have no idea where you are finding the inner resources to keep pushing so hard - hang in there!
Look at his body language each time s task is completed, especially if it was a substantial effort!
That feeling of mastery after having learned and improved on very useful skills can be enough, and Dan is also literally building his future! All the effort put in now, while he is young, healthy, motivated and able, will make his life so much easier as age starts to catch up. He will no doubt train the boys to build and husband the resources, so there should be a slow and steady rise of the property value.
Dan gets to put walls where he wants them, even if it was done differently before the fire, instead of replicating traditions that no longer make perfect sense. Then it'll be time to decorate to his taste, and he has proven excellent at that, already.
In a couple of years he will live in his dream home, safe and practical, with income from guests and content production, establishing his sons' heritage and his own legacy.
@eirintowne ❤ very true words! And thank you too..RUclips!!!!!xxXxx ❤
That is a beautiful yurt. I don’t think I’ve seen one with such beautiful artwork before now.
It looks like the genuine Mongolian or Tibetan article ...it's GORGEOUS!!!
...but I don't think thick wool was used ...perhaps that can be added later.
It can be tricky using wool in an environment like that. Mold can be a problem. Remember, Mongolia is a desert.
Dear Dan all I can say is “WOW”, what an accomplishment in such a short amount of time getting ready for the yurt.
It truly is beautiful and huge. The men installing it worked so quickly to erect it and in record time before the down pour. The color red is good luck and the details are gorgeous. Such a nice home to live in while you are rebuilding the château.
So happy to see the new, safer scaffolding too.
The boys are going to be so excited to see the yurt and sleep over with their dad. Looking forward to seeing how you decorate the inside. Not sure a heat source works in a yurt.
Thank God you have permanent shelter for the winter months.
Get plenty of rest Dan. Hope you take a couple of days off to rejuvenate. Love from Northern California to you and your family. ❤
We love the yurt 🛖! Definitely a Mongolian theme going on there. No wonder there wasn’t an upload last night, you were “burning” the midnight oil. Get some rest, my industrious friend! 🎉🎉🎉
You must be living on adrenaline at this point with all of your projects Dan.
Adrenaline and money. Probably making between 12-15k a month. I'd be motivated as well
Life is a rollercoaster ;)
Hey Dan, you’re the man, if anyone can do this you can, let’s go from your number one fan. Xx
@@scotland_from_up_high7440he works hard and deserves it
Whatever@@scotland_from_up_high7440
Truly amazing, I hadn’t expected it to be so decorative and it’s enormous. You worked so hard but I can’t resist saying…now that you’ve got in done you must stop working so late, if you get tired and working in bad light , you might have an accident, remember it’s a marathon not a sprint. And now you have somewhere comfortable to spend an evening relaxing. Having said all that, I had to watch it twice as it was so exciting. Have a day off, go out, see some friends. Xx
Never would I image my search history to include “where to buy a yurt in France “. Dan I’m equally enthralled and amazed by your work ethic and tenacity and will apparently watch anything you do. Rooting for you all the way, cannot wait for tour of your yurt.
I can't get over how beautiful that yurt is. I had no idea they were so colorful and highly decorated.
What is a yurt I'm not dum I just never heard that before please tell me what a yurt is
@@debralady9934 It's a circular canvas tent

It’s a Mongolian style home that can be move as they travel.
The design style is very old.
That is the beauty of yurts, they can be just about whatever you want!
Yes it is absolutely beautiful, I didn't know that either 🙂
The entry door has a Tibetan design motif. Glad you got a proper scaffold for the high work. Wow, the interior ceiling of the yurt is gorgeous! Nice choice, Dan.
I noticed that too.
I was expecting something more Turkish but the Tibetan design was beautifull
With that, he has me reimaging the chateau. How wonderfully clever!
Congratulations on 250,000 subscribers. Congratulations on your channel passing 50 million views this week. But most of all Congratulations on getting yourself a warm, dry, safe place to live for you & the boys. Been a tough couple of years but all coming together for you. There is no one who is more deserving of success than you Dan ❤️🏰🍾🥳❤️
Here’s the thing… There’s yurts and there’s your YURT, absolutely 💯 impressed. Pray your children have the same work ethic, they will grow up so very proud of you Dan.👍
I agree and it comes down to upbringing and Dan will instill a sense of Pride (the old definition, Not to be confused with the Elephant in todays Society) and Good work ethic on the boys. That will surely show in the work he has put in, in the home that they live in with there mother.
Blimey! You have a yurt and the scaffolding up. What a mega achievement.
All was so exciting to watch.
Sleep well and recharge your batteries. ❤
So happy to see that you will have a lovely warm space to live on the grounds. Unreasonably excited for you 😊
Great work! That's more flooring than any other traditional Yurt would have had. My fathers one has been sitting on flat tarped soil for over 18yrs. Very similar to his in all aspects really. The Yurt itself is quite traditional in build up, color and ornate detailing. Where (like his) it differs from that is in the overall diameter (a traditional one is 5m across), the second door(normally it would just be the 1 entrance door), the glass in the door (it would otherwise be windowless), and most likely the Plexiglas windows in the dome with a cutout for the stack (it would traditionally be half open and covered by the flap on top if need be).
There's a whole lot of traditional religious elements in them as well if you choose to adhere to them. There's always a handsaw above the door in between the roof beams and the cloth with the teeth facing the door to keep out bad spirits. You would normally have only the one door open, never 2 as it would allow spirits to pass through. The centre rope is tied to a big rock (you have plenty) and the end tucked away as a endless knot. In case of a big windy storm have the front door and top flap open, It will allow the wind to pass through. The rock will allow for some movement (I've witnessed it as a whole being slightly lifted, its impressive) but will keep the center dome down and prevent damage. You would again traditionally enter in a right circle going around the centre where on your right side you would find the kitchen area, center back a seating area and on the left the sleeping and washing area. And the last one I know of; with the centre being the centre point of energy (literally with the stove being there) you don't pass through the centre 2 uprights as to not disturb that energy. There's even thought in the Kris cross pattern and knotting of the wall but I'm not to sure of that one. As i said earlier the heat management is amazing in them, with a good centre stove everything revolves around them; cook, eat, bake bread etc. Quite amazing structures really, very peaceful to live in. Any way that's all I know!
How awesome! Thanks for your in-depth knowledge and short primer on traditional yurts from Mongolia/Tibet/Khazakstan, etc. I wonder what specific country this yurt was designed after. Anyway, it's absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
Thx for the interesting info.
That's riveting!
Just noticed that you are at 250,000 subscribers. Well done! You deserve having every one of us following your amazing progress. People, keep giving 👍🏻 and subscribing, I am quite sure the numbers are going to quickly keep going up. Phenomenal progress on today’s episode. Please go to sleep!
You are making incredible progress, Dan!!! 😎❤️🎶 🏰 🎪 The YURT is AWESOME!!! 😎🎶❤️👏👏👏
The yurt is gorgeous! Please get some rest. Take a day off. Or two.
All of us are longing to be there giving you a hand, can only help by cheering you on, go Dan
I know, right??? If I wasn't a slave to my job, I'd sell up and move to France to help out. I'd be happy to trade labor for room and board...
So true, so true.
Me too 👌
I want to go help. I talk about it every day. Husband was let go from his job... Maybe we'll go to France and be a little nomadic for a while and help.
@@janhenry9733 being in aussieland makes it hard to drop in with afternoon tea. But you both now have time and energy, go girl! Take a lesson from our Dan, do the impossible.
The yurt is so colorful and just as magical as a chateau in the forest. Video artistry of the two projects and all the lines is not lost on the viewer. I so enjoyed this!
Just paint the floors! I've painted these, and they turn out great. Or just... Pick up rugs and layer them. It'll look cool and be super comfy. :D
Love the layered rugs idea - they would make it so snuggly in there.
Rugs are great in the winter
A Ruggables sponsorship would be great - they're washable 😊
RIGHT? It'd look so, so cool.
Yep or peel and stick!
Only if everyone worked as hard as Dan, we would get so much more done in this world
With REAL scaffolding now, good lord, to think that we have lived long enough to see this day!
we would only have to work 3 days a week :P
But planning is a bit of an issue.......
A world full of yurts instead of turdbrackets
Unbelievable! That yurt is gorgeous! And enormous! Rest well, young man!
Go Dan Go!!! If. you can do what you did yesterday and today you can do ANYTHING!!!
I can’t believe the amount of work you have achieved. Well done Dan 👏
Yurts are a delight to live in, there’s something about a round living space, creates good energy. Well done, the progress is fab! x
Yep good fengshui, no hidden corners…
Round is not good for living spaces as they are majorly rectangular, like the Chateau itself, round is good for a big tent, and a big tent is better than a little tent!?!
Hooray 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 What an accomplishment Dan ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅ Cannot wait to see you all snugged in. Love your front door and your own key to your Yurt. The scaffolding is magnificent. Go Dan..... the man with a brilliant plan. 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃

Nagging is the last thing a man wants to hear.
Back in the '50s, my parents turned a carport into a "boys' room" and we had plywood walls prepared with a torch, just as you are doing. With a coat of varnish over the "charred" surfaces, it looked GREAT!! No one else had anything like it, either.
By the bye, the yurt is (freaking) BEAUTIFUL!! 'Way to GO, Dan!
Wow! That was a monsoon!! If the yurt can survive that rainfall intact it can survive anything!
Wow that Yurt is epic! The boys will have a blast staying with you now. And what a great place to be comfortable in the winter!!
You are the hardest working man, and have enough stamina for 3 people. Look at what you have accomplished! I thought you were crazy when you bought your home. But if anyone can renovate this chateau it is you and it will be magnificent. Great job! Love your new home.
OMG Yurt is gigantic! A proper safe space! Just a few adjustments so cold air can not get in during winter, and 💥! Love it! Kids will love it 😂❤
What a fantastic day! The yurt and scaffolding are absolutely fantastic! 👏👏👏 I hope you get some well deserved rest tonight.
Omg you’re amazing . My heart sank when I saw the rain , but looks like I had nothing to worry about . It’s going to be a brilliant home for you and your boys while you’re working on the chateau . Enjoy your well earned sleep zzzzz
Hooray!!!🥳 A dry place to live and real, solid scaffolding. What a day. How beautiful is that yurt? The guys who installed it had to work fast to beat that rain. Great accomplishments, Dan. 😍
Dan keeps amazing me, he must be the only person I know who would still be whistling at 2 AM after working all day, knowing he has little sleep left and another crazy day ahead. Keep up the positivity Dan!!!
Dan we are all so proud of you!
You are our hero, you truly have super powers…..
I have one request….
On Friday, stop working and take a week off….
Move into you yurt and make it yours, relax and enjoy some down time, you deserve it and I’m sure we all want you to do this…….
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Rather to go furniture and other stuff for the yurt shopping. So, the next video would be yurt tour.
I reckon you should take a couple of days off. Tiredness can kill as that's when mistakes are made. Eat, sleep, read a book, build dream castles, let thoughts drift into your head and bubble into big ideas, see the boys... then start again refreshed.
What an enormous and beautiful Yurt! No matter these hurts are the preferred choice for stylish nomads everywhere! And that scaffolding ticks all the boxes!
Wow, the yurt is amazing. The scaffolding is so much safer. Wow, it's all coming together.❤. Your perseverance is remarkable. Good for you!
Dan, my man you ever cease to amaze me as to what you manage to get done on your own. Great work! Can wait to see you have somewhere to sleep well after a hard days work.
I’m in tears of happiness for you to have a nice warm place to chill 👌🏾
Dan, you are incredible. You achieve single-handedly in days what would take months for others. No wonder your channel is so successful. Also, what a video legacy you are leaving your boys and likely historical evidence for the chateau’s archives. Your work ethic is just unbelievably outstanding. I love the colours of your yurt. Dan, maybe not having enough time to burn and lacquer the floor was a blessing. Put a decent clickboard floor in, this would make a really wonderful glamping rental when you no longer need it. Also, I would leave the yurt where it is when you have the chateau done. It’s now part of the new history of the chateau ❤️
Wow! Looking when they lifted the center hub I thought to myself: "no way they'll be done in a few hours!" but they were! It looks amazing and you'll now have a more secure dwelling that's also permanent. Congrats and welcome home Dan! You deserve it. Glad you now have the safer equipment to reach new heights too.
