Anyone saying the trees shouldn’t be removed hasn’t dealt with a property that’s been neglected for years. I’m dealing with it on a much smaller scale, but it’s so much work to undo years of damage to the health of the mature trees and choose which ones to keep and if they make sense to the landscape. Keep up the great work!

I feel like we are in step 1. Housecleaning. You already have the basement pretty much cleared. Now the upper floor. Which all needs to be done in preparation for when the structural work begins. You guys are amazing and keep up the great job.

Nick is a professional and knows the trees and how they grow and work. He wouldn't take down trees just because. There is a reason for the future of the garden and woods. It makes the area healthier. Love Nick xx

@@pdmacguire Yes, I suggested the same thing on another comment. He has to take the tiles up anyway to repair the floor underneath and since there are already missing tiles and he's sure to lose more in the lifting process, he can just re-lay them with a smaller footprint and use coordinating encaustics in a decorative border at the perimeter.
What an amazing machinery operator Nick is! Exciting to watch how he manoeuvres the digger and bobcat.

Every home we bought, one of the first jobs was to remove old and overgrown trees and shrubs. Old trees can be very dangerous to buildings. Most are either too close and dying off.
Everything looks great that you four are doing!

Taking down a lot of the trees has made such a difference, its such a prettier view, especially the work Nick has done around the grounds clearing the trees and the incredible amount of dirt Calvin and Cameron helped Dan move. 😀 Bravo for a job done very well 👏

The more episodes he films and releases on RUclips the more income he makes which is the point of this whole channel He's never going to be able to finish this project because I don't know that RUclips would pay him over 2 million euros which is probably what it would take to fix that place. The effort you guys did in the last few days is astounding and surprising you didn’t have a work force of 20+ people helping you dig that out and all the tree and debris removal is amazing! Good job and BTW Dan you have the best friends! Not many would be willing to take off work for a few days to do some seriously heavy construction and soil removal! Thanks so much for sharing and can’t wait to see what happens next! I’m guessing it involves a lot of hot water from the shower and or bath for you guys especially with how much pain that your both in!

@@sethrobinson5303 The whole place is a death trap. It needs demolition. Hire a big enough machine and you could push the whole lot over in a day and cart away the rubble for crushing as hardcore.

So much work but so worth it! When this space is done and the staircase is whole, it will be stunning! Nick is a master with the excavator! Sometimes you have to clear space in the landscape so things can breathe and to reduce the stress on the building. Exciting progress and so much more to come! Stay safe!

At first I couldn't get why SO much dirt would be inside a building. However, SO many floors are made of dirt and that dirt insulation falls when the floors and walls give way. Great to see you have help.
and everything that blew in and rotted and then trees inside dropped leaves in the fall and that rotted to dirt. It doesn't take long for nature to reclaim something, but I'm glad the chateau is being saved from that fate.
