All thieves need is a battery operated angle grinder and they would have all Dan's tools in minutes :( Happened to us with motor bikes, pressure washer and chainsaws. It sucks

I think way back when, all the grounds were cut and looking nice. This looks nice and really opens up this side. Once you get it all cut back and out, the whole place will open up and give you ideas of what you could put out there.

Good idea about using the rubble on the car park. No doubt you're already on top of this, but do take that extra half hour to ensure the grading for the rainwater runoff is perfect, as it's annoying to have to re-do once the gravel top is down if you notice puddles, and once you put a feature like this down, it'll be useful for decades if made well.
Ah, it would be sooo cool if you reinstated the old driveway after the chateau is finished and no longer need the direct access for the supplies, or at least see where it went. To have just garden at the front and parking at the back would look fantastic, and a nod to how it was probably set out 100+ years ago

Hey Dan! So, about that driveway ... I've seen on other gardening videos, where, they're able to take, whether it's a shovel, or a power washer, or, strimmer / weed whacker, and, under the grass they find the old driveway or a side walk or something, because they're using those tools to find the edges of concrete or stone, or asphalt, or whatever was used to build the driveway / sidewalk originally. And I wanted to suggest to you, you could, maybe, try that, whether it's from the base of the steps, or from the gate! Who knows! You may find something if you just take a quick look & dig down about an inch or two!

That areas would also make a great spot for a cottage combined with a car park that could also help with security of the chateau. Closer to the entrance and maybe turned into a gift shop/refreshment area if you ever plan to open to public.

Even if you do a little at a time, it will get done.
Just like at Lalande, you'll need a decent area near the chateau for everyday parking, for several cars, especially in foul weather. Practically, your car park away from the house will end up being used for parties or longer-term.
Yes, I agree with your thought about a side parking. I cannot understand the Chateau's who have their vehicles parked directly in front of the place. Jeez. . .
