Do you ever doubt your ability to answer bigger than life questions like, “Why do I exist? What is the purpose of life? Can I know God? If so, how? Are miracles possible?” And if God exists what’s with all the evil in the world? Do questions like these ever nag at you? If so, you’ve come to the right channel. I too am a fellow wonderer who thinks about stuff like this.
I (Bobby Conway) am the founder and host of the rapidly-growing ministry, The One-Minute Apologist, which is found on RUclips and at www.oneminuteapologist.com. Here I provide quick, credible answers to apologetic questions that resource people with a hunger to defend their Christian faith. These videos will often include interviews. I’ve had the privilege of interviewing some of the world leading Christian apologists. Among them are: William Lane Craig, Josh McDowell, Hank Hanegraaff, JP Moreland, Norman Geisler, Frank Turek, and many more.

I was searching for beliefs instead of resting in the right ones. That was well said.

@@zerowork7631 Are you amazed? really? One of King Davids sons rebelled and tried to kill him.. Issacs favorite son was left out of the inheritance and never became apart of the nation of Israel. The only father than can save a child and open their eyes and heart to the things of God is the one in heaven. Its not based on how you were raised or how long you were practicing Christianity in your family. This is nothing new.

Too much concentration on truth and not enough on relationship identity and belonging leads to half brain Christianity. The left brain is well cared for but the right brain, relational circuits, mindsight identity and belonging that shape character are left well behind.

I think he is talking about cognitive dissonance of some sort.. He believes/confesses the faith, but is confronted with doubts/questions as he tries to live it out.

He just had 5 minutes to talk about it. I know what he talks about. Doubts are often if not always something very complex... Its a process where you oftentimes can't even tell what your doubt is. It's more of a feeling. At one point he would say this, at another it would be something different.
I didn't read his book, but I guess if you want to know the details just buy it.
Btw - why do you want to know the details?

He named it. The origins of his doubt was doubting whether it is worth pursuing what he did in fact believe. What drove him to doubt was the crisis of the disconnect between what he believed and how he was living his life.

Beliefs should be grounded in truth. For the Christian, truth is a person, Jesus Christ. The closeness of the relationship with the person will solidify the identity of the believer. This solidification of identity is a process and does not happen over night. It’s a daily walking with Jesus, being taught by the Holy Spirit, who God is, what He is like, seeing God’s glory.
So, doubt actually should play a part in that process. When God teaches us about one of His attributes, He will bring a test to see if we will apply what we’ve been taught. When the test comes, many times we will begin to doubt God’s goodness wondering why this test is happening to us. “I thought God was good. Why is this bad thing happening?” Sounds like doubt but God can even use doubt to help us learn to exercise faith.
From the interview, it seemed that barnabas piper was doubting because the effectiveness of what he was taught was not affecting his real life experience. So, I wonder what it was that he was taught.
Many times our doubts can come from expectations of God grounded in errors we believe about God.

I do pray for Abraham because I know even though he isn't a child of God, God loves him equally to my self.
Abraham knows by the Creation that God exists, as no man has a excuse not to see that.
Abraham has been so messed up by his crazy father and his crazy Calvinism that it is only normal to be mad at the heresy of religion.
I believe there are just a few things missing and Abraham my turn 180 degrees once he understands the real truth, and the real God!
I only wish I could talk to him.
    TRUTH IN LOVE

Ironically it seems like Pipers sons are more messed up theologically than others by being steeped in fundamentalism. Too much bible is not always a good thing.

    • @smabe7
      @smabe7 3 года назад +4

I can see that. But now I wonder if the others with less Bible and less issues are not more prone to a superficial approach to Christianity that let them think they are saved, while they actually aren’t.
Because Christ says there are such people, doing good visible and laudable things for the church, that he has “never known”. In a way, the deep struggle through the night, though leaving you lame like Jacob, might provide assurance in standing before Christ one day.

What we need to know is that whether it is fundamentalism or whatever, though you're a pastor's kid you're still born and shaped in iniquity. James said(paraphrasing): any who sins is lead by or tempted by his own lusts.
