I was 8 years old when I saw Kirk Gibson hit that home run On game one of the 1988 world series and I thought it was a moment in baseball that I would never see again..... I am so thankful that I was wrong.
Outstanding job by Joe Davis to recognize all the parallels between this moment and 1988 while calling the home run to use Vin Scully's words of "she is gone" to describe it. For anyone who wants to understand what great announcing sounds like, this is it.
Yep, he probably dreamt of something like that happening, and it did! Moments like these is why Davis will probably continue to call MLB/Dodger games even though he’s getting a lot attention calling NFL. Great call
@iloveowls90 i don't play baseball, but I have played a bit of cricket, I can tell you, you most definitely know when they are sailing over the boundary!! So it would be likewise for these batters!
That "she is gooooooonnne" is so perfectly the same as the call from gibsons walk off homerun in 88. I wonder is joe davis did that intentionally or if it just came out or what but it was a spitting image of vin scully's call. Instant goosebumps. Instant tears

It’s a great day to be wearing Freddie Freeman sports gear ⚾️👕 Being a Braves fan and see Freddie playing for LA and hitting a grand slam. It was awesome !!! Braves should have kept Freddie Freeman. He will always be a part of the Braves family to me✌️
I read a story earlier today on who the MLB picked to umpire this series, and they said 3 or 4 of the umpires missed calls for the season were in the bottom percentile for all umpires this year! The writer was astonished that umpires that bad actually were allowed to call this series.
I bought a ticket in the morning a few hours before the game. It was the first World Series game I've ever attended. Possibly one of the best decisions of my life. I've been a Dodgers fan since I was 9 years old. All I have ever wanted was to see a Yankees vs Dodgers World Series. The last time they matched up was the year my dad graduated high school. There was no way I was going to miss this game. It was such an incredible memory to be at the stadium. As soon as it went off the bat we all knew it was gone. The place erupted...The energy was so electric. Beer was flying everywhere. It was an instant classic. Go Dodgers!!! 2024 World Series Champions!!!
What a moment for freeman. That was every baseball player's dream. 2out the game is in your hand And a walk off grandslam to end the game in world series 😘... What a game ... game 7 🙏🙏🙏🙏
My uncle skip will be thrilled, my dad would be disappointed but happy to just see a good game. What an interesting series - the history of the teams etc.
Life comes at you in circles.. reminds me of '88... hobbling around the bases after going yard and winning the game... including the whole "she is GOOOOONE!" just like Vin... I'll not forget this!
It’s like Deja vu. Repeat of the past . Freddy freeman is the goat , playing with an injured ankle. Hats off to the dude enduring all that pain. What a beast . ❤❤❤
NO DOUBT when it left his bat. GONESVILLE, LIKE A ROCKET LAUNCHER. WHAT A MOMENT AND SOOOO HAPPY FOR FREDDIE FREEMAN. I'm watching it over and over and over again. I can't get enough.
The kirk Gibson ball rolled downstairs to the bottom I know this because my dad was the one who got it at 88 world series and handed over to the little boy who was crying because he didn't get the ball but my dad being humble handed it over to him just because it was the rite thing to do... I'm 34 and I was 30 when I heard this story from my dad it's a wow moment knowing my father lived threw one of my dreams of going to a world series game and to know he was part of that iconic game is a blessing and the best story that I can share with dodgers fans this is the first time I share this story because it needs to be shared especially after witnessing today's grand slam homerun . The person who got that ball there life is about to change and they will share that moment with kids and family. For ever and it's the most awesome feeling knowing my dad was the who got the kirk Gibson homerun ball it's just fucken awesome knowing that. My father was part of that history....
I went to the game for bday present and I couldn’t ask for anything more then a dodger win. The whole stadium was shaking. The funny thing was my dad was at the. 1988 World Series with the Kurt walk off and my dad said to me when he got home never in a million years would I think I would be able to relive the walk off homer from 88 with my son 🥲
My first name is Kirk because my dad was watching that game and looked at my mom and said “I swear if he puts this up over the wall I’m naming our first born son Kirk” and boom 2 and half years later I came into existence and they were at the hospital and they asked what my name is going to be and my mom was like “Well, you said it would be Kirk so Kirk it is” and I’m vibrating with excitement watching that GS, Let’s Go Dodgers Baby!!!
Two weeks later and I’m still watching this beautiful win!

양팀들 부상없이 경기 하시길 바랍니다.❤❤❤❤
The roar of the crowd right after Freeman makes contact gives me goosebumps
Go Dodgers! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
"Gibby meet Freddie! Game 1 of the World Series!" Two historic moments!
I love his tribute to his dad. What a great moment for both of them 💪.
As a lifelong Braves fan that grand slam was bittersweet. Super happy for Freeman but man do I wish we still had him.
I know, I couldn’t believe they let him go and he came to us.
He is from So Cal after all!😎
@@75yellowraven you can’t win em all.
Ditto. 🥲
ok
I was 8 years old when I saw Kirk Gibson hit that home run On game one of the 1988 world series and I thought it was a moment in baseball that I would never see again..... I am so thankful that I was wrong.
Outstanding job by Joe Davis to recognize all the parallels between this moment and 1988 while calling the home run to use Vin Scully's words of "she is gone" to describe it. For anyone who wants to understand what great announcing sounds like, this is it.
I also think of Jack Buck's "I don't believe what I just saw!"
Also, not saying a word after and letting the moment develop and breath.
He's usually such an impartial caster, always just loving good baseball
I lost my voice from the 20mins of non-stop yelling and cheering after this historic win in baseball history....
Yep, he probably dreamt of something like that happening, and it did! Moments like these is why Davis will probably continue to call MLB/Dodger games even though he’s getting a lot attention calling NFL. Great call
As soon as that came off his bat, the sound just told everyone that was gone all the way.
What a hit for the win!!!
even HE knew look at the way he just went toward the bases
@iloveowls90 i don't play baseball, but I have played a bit of cricket, I can tell you, you most definitely know when they are sailing over the boundary!! So it would be likewise for these batters!
最後まで目が離せない試合だった!そして、コメント欄がワールドワイドで感動!
THANK YOU, FERNANDO
💙🇲🇽🙏✝️🤍
生まれて初めて野球で泣きました😂
フリーマンの一発最高⚾️
リアルで見たら死ぬまで自慢出来る試合だねこれは🏏
I'm not a big sports guy but man am I glad to have watched this game. Truly a historic inning I'll remember forever.
Freddie such a good dodger and good dude what a moment!
There's no such thing as a good dodger
@@ldo1308 Awww are you gonna cry?
Game 1 was played like Game 7. That's insane!
I can’t stop watching this.
Greatest baseball play I may ever get to say I saw on live TV. Unreal. The crack of the bat is beautiful
Absolutely magical 💙
My dad and I watched the whole game, first time in years, man was this baseball. This game had it all!!!
That "she is gooooooonnne" is so perfectly the same as the call from gibsons walk off homerun in 88. I wonder is joe davis did that intentionally or if it just came out or what but it was a spitting image of vin scully's call. Instant goosebumps. Instant tears
Knowing Joe Davis, he absolutely did the intentionally!!! That’s one of the many reasons that make him one of the best of all time!
100. joe is a student of the game and more than that has the honor of following in vin's footsteps. he knew. he knows.

I miss Vin 💔
Joe knew! Great call, Gibby meet Freddie!
Just saw a Kirk Gibson moment all over again. Awesome grand slam from Fab Five Freddie! Just three more wins. LET'S GO DODGERS!
That's exactly what immediately came to mind. That's the series....
"I don't believe what I just saw!"
What an incredible moment of this game. Congratulations Freddie 🎉
Lived up to all the hype and expectations!! An instant Classic 💙
아름다워...
I will never forget where I was when I saw the is grand slam. A defining moment in baseball history. 3 more to go boys. FINISH THE JOB!
This might be the greatest CLUTCH at bat ive ever seen in my life...IM SPEECHLESS RN
That’s exactly how I feel!
It was a great moment but nothing tops Kirk Gibson in 88.
@@enriquenunez8066 wish i was alive to witness that one too 😭

13:06 WOW! 1st walkoff grand slam in world series 😊
That was incredible! This was like something out of a baseball movie. Defying the odds in such spectacular fashion. This was truly history in the making.

Everything about this was chills. The hit, the crowd, the call, the moment, literally EVERYTHING about this was chills.
I swear, Dodgers have some sort of divine blessing this season.
$$$$$$$$$ worth of blessing
Yeah, a blessing, and it's called boone
It’s a great day to be wearing Freddie Freeman sports gear ⚾️👕
Being a Braves fan and see Freddie playing for LA and hitting a grand slam. It was awesome !!! Braves should have kept Freddie Freeman. He will always be a part of the Braves family to me✌️
Tommy got hosed by the umpire and still kept it alive and got a hit bro he’s been so crazy lately
I saw that, and his reaction he was pissed he didn’t like it
I read a story earlier today on who the MLB picked to umpire this series, and they said 3 or 4 of the umpires missed calls for the season were in the bottom percentile for all umpires this year! The writer was astonished that umpires that bad actually were allowed to call this series.
Edman's at bat was epic. Set the whole thing up.
The botched play at 2nd helped out quite a bit as well.
Cardinal fan. Very happy for Tommy.
Real
What Freeman did was insane but much props to Edman this whole postseason. Because the bottom 3 maintained the momentum, Freeman's slam happened
The Yankees walked Mookie Betts and Freddie Freedman made them pay, while the Dodgers walk Soto the choker Judge pops up or strikesout 😅
mvp for a reason(nlcs).
because O/U is 9, Vegas knew what they were doing lolll
Amazing!
He’s a proud dad❤誰能不愛Freddie💕
Woo Hoo! Incredible! Congrats Freddie! Congrats Dodgers!
I Love L.A.. ❤❤❤🎉🎉
That couldn't have happened to a better player and man! Way to go, Freddie! go Dodgers!
What a moment for freeman.
That was every baseball player's dream.
2out the game is in your hand
And a walk off grandslam to end the game in world series 😘...
What a game ...
game 7 🙏🙏🙏🙏
1球で決めんのかっこよすぎやろ!
역시 오타니는 결정적인 순간엔 병신
My uncle skip will be thrilled, my dad would be disappointed but happy to just see a good game. What an interesting series - the history of the teams etc.
Watched entire pre game show n game. Wow, intense high lvl play from both teams. I'm lifelong Dodgers fan n that was a Badasssss finish🍻
Life comes at you in circles.. reminds me of '88... hobbling around the bases after going yard and winning the game... including the whole "she is GOOOOONE!" just like Vin... I'll not forget this!
Baseball at its BEST! I recalled KG in my mind’s eye as Freeman rounded the bases. :-)
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and I have been a Dodgers fan since the 70's!! This was an incredible game!! Go Dodgers!!!!
It’s like Deja vu. Repeat of the past . Freddy freeman is the goat , playing with an injured ankle. Hats off to the dude enduring all that pain. What a beast . ❤❤❤
Freddy Freeman the goat Of this battle Of the Yankee Doodle.
For sure. The greatest of all time in all of baseball. No one has been, or ever will be, greater. You nailed it!
フリーマンのスイングエグいね。
流石mvp👏
NO DOUBT when it left his bat. GONESVILLE, LIKE A ROCKET LAUNCHER. WHAT A MOMENT AND SOOOO HAPPY FOR FREDDIE FREEMAN. I'm watching it over and over and over again. I can't get enough.
Unbelievable … Exactly the same as Gibsons home run… Even where it landed in the stands… Crazy !!
@@pweecervantes347I hope ur not lying
This Dodgers team is making a lot of history this post season. Three more wins!
Yankees in 5
@@ldo1308 LMAO
I went to the game for bday present and I couldn’t ask for anything more then a dodger win. The whole stadium was shaking. The funny thing was my dad was at the. 1988 World Series with the Kurt walk off and my dad said to me when he got home never in a million years would I think I would be able to relive the walk off homer from 88 with my son 🥲
That is hilarious! I can’t stop laughing. Nearly fell off my bed from the funny thing you just said. PS- Who’s “Kurt”?
Beautiful moment bro. Cherish that one
1988 all over again that was awesome
My first name is Kirk because my dad was watching that game and looked at my mom and said “I swear if he puts this up over the wall I’m naming our first born son Kirk” and boom 2 and half years later I came into existence and they were at the hospital and they asked what my name is going to be and my mom was like “Well, you said it would be Kirk so Kirk it is” and I’m vibrating with excitement watching that GS, Let’s Go Dodgers Baby!!!
That's the thing with these Dodgers. You never know who's going to be the star for the night
