Thank you Jordan for speaking to a mainstream Muslim and giving us the courtesy to express our views, also much love for learning and retracting your previous mis-statements. I hope others also speak TO Muslims rather than AT us.
It's hard to consider Christianity when their books have anonymous authors, they believe God can become man and defecate, they think Moses ordered the deaths of women and children for no reason and other endless reasons such as the dishonesty of modern Christians who are liberals in disguise.
@Jason Wu Aisha’s older sister Asma was 29 at the time of her marriage and she was 10 years older making Aisha 19 at the time of marriage. Also Muhammad was known to not let those under 15 accompany him in dangerous areas. It was noted that Aisha would accompany him in these areas again detracting from the notion she was 9.
I’m so thankful for Jordan Peterson. He was tearing up at the end when Mohammad said he was accepted in the Muslim community. It's also the first interview where I've seen such a GOOD and full figured digestion and processing of information coming to such a peaceful and hopeful conclusion with Dr. Peterson becoming emotional at the end of the stressful session and Mr. Jahid actually softening and being very generous and endearing. THIS is a brilliant stride toward finding peaceful common ground between two very powerful men AND their ideologies. Magnificent.
Respect to Jordan Peterson for hosting this important discussion. Bridges need to be built and this was a constructive start. Your sincerity is noted and you are definitely welcome in our community. May Allah continue to show you the light of Islam 🤲🏼

You were already held in high regard by the Muslim community Dr. Peterson. But to be one of the very few people who would have a conversation with mainstream Muslims instead of conversations about them multiplied the respect we have for you.

I totally agree, Dr JP has his unique ways of responding to questions or different ideas calmly and with a lot of enthusiasm to understand you. I wish they teach this kind of attitude in the school although it somehow it’s something you grow up with but I do believe at the same time if you practice something you could master it.

We tend to look at history with a a lot of judgement instead of trying to understand it like we try to understand religion. I feel wiser having listened to this conversation.

For real. I'm watching the progression of Jordan's conversations and it appears to me, that he is attempting to address the most serious problems in the world today (the woke/anti-woke argument, Islam vs other religions, Atheism vs belief, Infrastructure, People's belief in the good will or tyranny of government, and so on). Maybe it sounds naïve but I also see this clearly as history in the making.
This just goes to show what a great man Prof. Peterson actually is. Seeking a dialogue not only with a “representative” of Islam, but with many. Going beyond the surface, exploring different views within Islam.
Heretics or no, consider this; Until the western man understands Arabic (possibly fluently) he will not experience the *traditionalist teaching and hymns* in fullness and may even psychologically reject them. Pointedly-again, heretics or not-the eagerness of Dr Jordan B Peterson to have the discussions and continually extend his hand (and voice / platform) in curiosity and peace toward Islam is a *set of actions that speak louder than words.*

This has got to be one of them most excellent talks I've ever seen. They were humble, wanted the truth, and come closer to peace in the theory than I've seen for a long time. These Gentleman may be able to help the middle east if the theory is put into practice. I hope people see what I see.
It worked because Jordan Peterson is brilliant and had no agenda other than to listen carefully and draw out ideas. Mohammed Hijab had/has an agenda and it is proselyting Islam in hopes of making converts. I found him pushy, aggressive, calculating, and very naive thinking that he is going to wow audiences with his recitations of the Q which is really a rote process with no clear processing to any depth beyond parroting back text. Peterson was gentle with him but could have pressed him much harder on many aspects of the conversation. While I appreciate Peterson’s approach, the zealotry of MH and others of is ilk makes them so dense they think they are very smart and can almost simply declare themselves the victor at the beginning when if fact they have presented no depth or faced truly difficult rigorous examination.
@@tedmom3029 Nowhere in the conversation was mohammed hijab pushy or aggressive. They were both very respectful friendly and intelligent. His only agenda was clearing the misconceptions and expressing what islam truly is to the best of his abilities. Neither was he trying to convert anyone though he did say he wished for it to happen because we want people to come to the truth. There was a reason he recited that verse which was clear in the context of the video. Neither could mr peterson "press" him on anything or whatever because there is no doubt about islam and it is the clear truth. All these are just you being biased and not open minded. Edit: what do you mean "they think they are winners though they present no depth" MH talked for like an hour and peterson agreed with most of his points lol

I am what most would call an agnostic, almost borderline atheist, but I’ve always been fascinated with religion and how and why people believe with they believe. I have always found Islam in particular, to be a very beautiful religion. I see it as a religion of responsibility given the strict prayer routines, the diet and the belief system. It’s a form of art and hearing M.H. Sing verses then translate was a treat. Great conversation and it would be great to see him on again

@@LanaW123 it’s for God. They follow a scripture which tells them to dress in a certain way, so they follow. God has commanded them. They are clearly more modest and aren’t indulged in the materialistic temporary world. We have women undergoing all sorts of life threatening surgeries, dangerous diets and many more issues such as mental disorders because they can’t be “that” perfect being. Islam honours and protects women, Islam provided women with rights 1400 years ago when women’s suffrage was still going on even within the past century. Men and women covering their awrah protects them. Women are also protected from the wicked male lustful gaze. Women are also meant to be accompanied by male guardians. Following in course creates harmony and stability in society.
@@LanaW123 A lack of common sense from your narrow angle of view, but from a different perspective, say the woman who was dressed, it stems from a good trait rarely seen in the west called modesty. The true perception and meaning of it and not your own opinion of it. See, the west sees dressing modestly (for females) as wearing clothes that are what they deem nice, comfortable and casual/formal with mild parts of the female skin (including bare swimwear) showing as being acceptable. But where's the modesty in that? I've never seen a nun during summer strip down to a tight dress or bare swimwear, regardless of weather or climate. Why? Go question her actions. And why is Mary always drawn being fully dressed from head to toe? If you say times have changed, well that means you submitted to the trials of time and temptations of the devil. We did not. We stood the trial of time and kept with our faith and deviated from the temptations of the devil. We dress more like the nuns and Mary than female Christians do today. The woman is the opposite of a man, and the male is attracted to the female. By nature of course, males find females attractive and vice-versa. So, how to solve this? Men lower their gaze around women and women dress properly and cover rather than flaunt and show off their bodies to accepting immodest men. With something as simple as this, followed by keeping in check the boyfriend/girlfriend drama, rape percentages, sex assaults, abortions will see an ENORMOUSLY dramatic decrease. Follow that by cuts in alcohol and gambling and you see again another drop in things like death rates, murders, suicides, accidents, drug abuse, jail percentages, etc. They're prohibited for a reason. So look into things a bit deeper sister. God bless.
The amount of comments in this video compared to Jordans other video's show how much value this interview really is. Great historical work! May God guide us and bless us
Such a fantastic conversation and it really opened my eyes to the Muslim religion. So glad I got to listen. Thank you Mohammed Hijab for being such a gracious guest and helping to educate a lot of us on your faith.
Thank you for your kind words may God Allmighty bestow his blessings and love upon you! May God protect you from evil thoughts, attack of enviers and from hopelessness and despair at all times! Your fellow muslim brother in humanity :)
The way Jordans eyes teared up at the end explains fully how much open and honest he is. An amazing intellectual recognized amongst many traditional orthodox Muslims. And the reason for those tears in the end was the purpose of this discussion. Muhammad Hijab openly inviting Jordan Peterson to a Masjid and Jordan Peterson inviting Muhammad Hijab to his lecture. Bridges that were meant to be build over seas of miscommunication and misconceptions will and are being build just as a result of this discussion. And as a Muslim what I and many want for Dr Peterson is a happy and content life not in just this temporary world but in the life hereafter. May Allah grant him the Gift of Islam which he is getting closer to In shaa Allah❤
Inform Dr Peterson what he will get in Jannah and he will accept Islam Ibn Kathir in his commentary on Surah 56:35-37 reaffirmed the promise of prophet Muhammad regarding the amount of times a man can have sex in one day in Paradise: Abu Al-Qasim At-Tabarani recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah was asked, “O Allah’s Messenger! Will we have sexual intercourse with our wives in Paradise” He said, “The man will be able to have sexual intercourse with a hundred virgins in one day.” Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Hadith Number 2536: The Prophet said: “The believer will be given tremendous strength in Paradise for sexual intercourse.” It was questioned: “O prophet of Allah! Can he do that?” He said: “He will be given the strength of one hundred persons.
@@zubairabbasi7879 And?. Do you deny the fact that one of the greatest weakness of men are women? And one of the best way to keep men on track and get them to do what’s right is to promise them a hereafter that will fulfill one of their wishes. But let me ask you, Are you going to isolate Islam to these Hadiths and verse?. There is a bigger picture. This reward and much more comes after you have proven yourself to be modest and pure in this world. Not have 100 virgins in this world if you could. I know most men in the west will if they could. Get it. But we can’t. We have to marry and live responsibly and go through tests and trials. 5 pillars and six articles of faith and hundreds of other responsibilities, but you wanna twist the Hadiths and verses and make people assume Islam is all about something it actually isn’t?Unbelievable. Even the word Islam means submission to God. That is the main purpose of life according to Quran, the speech of Allah: To submit and worship one God. How pathetic. This comment shows how weak people’s arguments are against Islam, even tot he extent that they aren’t arguments at all. It just tells no one has any rational argument against Islam. Alhamdulillah for Islam. And I call you to One true God.
@Niranjan It never happened. Quran is just telling the truth. It’s you who are denying the fact that he lived. He was protected by the creator of the heavens and the earth. This is according to the Quran. Now let’s see your paradigm. Then Jesus went with them (B)to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go over there and pray.” 37 And taking with him (C)Peter and (D)the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, (E)“My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and (F)watch[a] with me.” 39 And going a little farther he fell on his face (G)and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let (H)this cup pass from me; (I)nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” Mathews 26: 36 onwards Now two things here, your God’s prayer was rejected by himself. Or is your God is asking for help from another God by saying ‘ Not as I will, but as you will’? And he was still rejected. And than he Goes on to get crucified, and says: And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is to say, “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” Mathew 27:46 I don’t know how many contradictions you can make out of this. Try to explain these verses( and many more like John 17:3 and Luke 18:19 and try to solve the logical problem of trinity. And when you do that, it will explain everything.
When a person has every reason to be arrogant yet is willing to learn and correct previous shortfalls, this is the purist form of genuinity. thank you Dr.Peterson Not to forget to thank brother Mohammed for his usual outstanding performance
I’ve already experienced Muslims and Christians having very fruitful and meaningful conversations as a result of this podcast. It was like a spark for people wanting to talk to each other but needing something to initiate the conversation again. Thank you Mohamed Hijab and Jordan Peterson. You both did the world some good 👍🏼
Mmmmm the light really started to shine in the last 10 minutes. Love you Jordan. I think Mr. Hijab is a good guy as well, I really do. You all actually had a conversation and you were both willing to see each others viewpoint and update your perspective accordingly. This conversation was so so worthwhile and good. Jordan… your impact on this world is fucking insane. A good impact btw. The things I’ve gleaned from watching you are life giving. You’re so appreciated.
Mr Peterson I never heard a person as sincere and intellectually honest as you, you really made me think that there is hope that we can make bridges between Islam and the rest of the world.
This was genuinely one of the best dialogues between an orthodox Muslim and a western academic that I’ve ever seen. There was no malice or point-scoring; Dr Peterson even respectfully retracted some of his less accurate statements and Mohammed was really attentive to Jordan’s views. This is what dialogue and bridge building looks like and should be encouraged more often. Thank you both for this dialogue and may Allah bless and reward you both.
JBP was just polite enough not to challenge some of the grossly incorrect statements. My favorite being that Germany did not pose a threat to the U.S., when the fact is Hitler declared war on the U.S., not the other way around. That canard is a favorite of anti-Semites all over the world, and very reveling of Hijab's true agenda.

Dr. Jordan Peterson, thank you for your work. I'm a Muslim and I've been carefully combing through your work for years. The "Biblical Stories" and the "Maps of Meaning" lectures were enlightening to say the least. The "Personality and Its Transformations" lectures (both sets) made my PSY coursework pale so horribly in comparison that I dropped out of PSY in pursuit of a compsci BS and mathematics MS instead. These decisions were aided by your clarification of IQ&conscientiousness, your statement that "a man really ought to have his life in order by the time he's 30" and your emphasis on the value of writing. It is unlikely you'll read this comment but thank you. You're a great example of a great non-Muslim. Inshallah you're placed in Jannah.
Thank you for your patience in having M.Hijab on your show. He was restrained and acted like an adult on your show. But it turns out that he learnt nada. Whenever he’s on other shows with other people, he acts like a 9 year old, throwing tantrums.
Agreed. The fact that he went to many places for support shows that God never guided him. In every prophetic story God gave very simple instructions to follow and to go exactly where they should go to carry out his work. This shows he wasn’t appointed by God. Thank you God for showing this to me from this conversation.
@@DexterBerhardt Ofc he’s going to go different places cause Islam is universal unlike the previous revelations. And God told him to teach Islam to his people (Arabs) first. He cut Jordan off continuously. He was extremely defensive but he respects Jordan's high intellectualism, which is why he restrained himself from acting like that 9 year old. And, at one point, he said "I want to be completely honest", as if he wasn't being completely honest all along; & Jordan graciously called him out on it. Muslims can lie to infidels & I'm sure Jordan knows it. In Islam, Taqiyya (Arabic: تقیة, romanized: taqiyyah, lit. 'prudence')[1][2] is a precautionary dissimulation or denial of religious belief and practice.[1][3][4][5] Generally, taqiyya is the action of committing a sinful act (such as feigning unbelief) for a pious goal.[6] Hiding one's beliefs has been a feature of Islam since its earliest days, and is acknowledged by Muslims of virtually all persuasions.[7] However, the use of taqiyya varies, especially between Sunni and Shia Muslims. Sunni Muslims gained political supremacy over time and therefore only occasionally found the need to practice taqiyya. On the other hand, the minority Shia communities developed taqiyya as an instinctive method of self-preservation and protection in hostile environments.[8] A related term is kitmān (lit. "action of covering, dissimulation"), which has a more specific meaning of dissimulation by silence or omission.[9][10] This practice is emphasized in Shi'ism whereby adherents are permitted to conceal their religion when under threat of persecution or compulsion.[3][11] Taqiyya was initially practiced under duress by some of Muhammad's companions.[12] Later, it became particularly important for Shias due to their experience as a persecuted religious minority.[11][13] According to Shia doctrine, taqiyya is permissible in situations where there is overwhelming danger of loss of life or property and where no danger to religion would occur thereby.[11] Taqiyya has also been politically legitimised, particularly in Twelver Shi'ism, to maintain unity among Muslims and fraternity among Shia clerics.[14][15] Yarden Mariuma, sociologist at Columbia University, writes: "Taqiyya is an Islamic juridical term whose shifting meaning relates to when a Muslim is allowed, under Sharia law, to lie. A concept whose meaning has varied significantly among Islamic sects, scholars, countries, and political regimes."[16]

Until the western man understands Arabic (possibly fluently) he will not experience the *traditionalist teaching and hymns* in fullness and may even psychologically reject them.

The only negative comment I would have about this conversation is Mohammed constantly reaffirming “ let me tell you the truth” or “let me be honest” … it’s rather off putting from experience, usually those are the types who never want to open their minds & rather want to be right. Amazing conversation to listen to yho
Yeah if he has to point that out constantly, it suggests that he *isn't* honest or truthful most other times. Why celebrate the occasion if it isn't rare and special?
I’ve watched this on repeat 3 times, loved every moment. A raw, authentic, meaningful dialogue. Thank you Dr Peterson for being willing to have this dialogue and actually listening attentively and thank you to Brother Hijab for representing us in the most beautiful way.
@@tedmom3029 When your mind is blocked it is really hard to convince you. All can say is my God bring about peace in your heart. I hope you interact with Muslims more so you can clear your misconceptions and hatred that you have within you.
@@MrGengad There you go again. Why, why, why, when Islam is challenged you retreat to “ hate” speech. If a person gives an opinion that is not favourable to Islam, it is not hate.
God bless.

Abu Al-Qasim At-Tabarani recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah was asked, “O Allah’s Messenger! Will we have sexual intercourse with our wives in Paradise” He said, “The man will be able to have sexual intercourse with a hundred virgins in one day.”
Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Hadith Number 2536:
The Prophet said: “The believer will be given tremendous strength in Paradise for sexual intercourse.” It was questioned: “O prophet of Allah!

To submit and worship one God.

@Niranjan Because it is historically inaccurate. It did not happen. That’s the only reason why Islam rejects the crucifixion.
38 Then he said to them, (E)“My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and (F)watch[a] with me.” 39 And going a little farther he fell on his face (G)and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let (H)this cup pass from me; (I)nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”
Mathews 26: 36 onwards
Now two things here, your God’s prayer was rejected by himself.
Or is your God is asking for help from another God by saying ‘ Not as I will, but as you will’?
And he was still rejected.
And than he Goes on to get crucified, and says:
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is to say, “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?”
Mathew 27:46

Muslims can lie to infidels & I'm sure Jordan knows it.
In Islam, Taqiyya (Arabic: تقیة, romanized: taqiyyah, lit. 'prudence')[1][2] is a precautionary dissimulation or denial of religious belief and practice.[1][3][4][5] Generally, taqiyya is the action of committing a sinful act (such as feigning unbelief) for a pious goal.[6]
Hiding one's beliefs has been a feature of Islam since its earliest days, and is acknowledged by Muslims of virtually all persuasions.[7] However, the use of taqiyya varies, especially between Sunni and Shia Muslims. Sunni Muslims gained political supremacy over time and therefore only occasionally found the need to practice taqiyya. On the other hand, the minority Shia communities developed taqiyya as an instinctive method of self-preservation and protection in hostile environments.[8]
A related term is kitmān (lit. "action of covering, dissimulation"), which has a more specific meaning of dissimulation by silence or omission.[9][10] This practice is emphasized in Shi'ism whereby adherents are permitted to conceal their religion when under threat of persecution or compulsion.[3][11]
Taqiyya was initially practiced under duress by some of Muhammad's companions.[12] Later, it became particularly important for Shias due to their experience as a persecuted religious minority.[11][13] According to Shia doctrine, taqiyya is permissible in situations where there is overwhelming danger of loss of life or property and where no danger to religion would occur thereby.[11] Taqiyya has also been politically legitimised, particularly in Twelver Shi'ism, to maintain unity among Muslims and fraternity among Shia clerics.[14][15]
Yarden Mariuma, sociologist at Columbia University, writes: "Taqiyya is an Islamic juridical term whose shifting meaning relates to when a Muslim is allowed, under Sharia law, to lie. A concept whose meaning has varied significantly among Islamic sects, scholars, countries, and political regimes."[16]
