I hope this guy gets a new toy in generations where they reinvent the transformation so he has less kibble, or at least it’s more manageable. Also since Tigatron took the lone wolf character from him, I propose this new character for Wolfang (who I struggle not to call Wolfgang every time). How about he’s super cheerful, super helpful, always ready to pitch in, the perfect teammate…until he’s alone, where he breaks down having no idea what to do with himself. Wolfang is a the ultimate team player (others might uncharitably call him a brain-dead follower), and needs a “pack” to keep him going.
Finally, the Azure Chin. I really wanna see the alternate universe where Wolfang got a new design for the cartoon... preferably a better design for the cartoon.
I think this is one of the funniest episodes I've seen. I love it when you review a figure that you can just unleash your full wrath and fury on. Maybe in the future you should do a "Week of Bad Bois" (instead of Big Bois) where you roast some of the worst figures in your collection
There's actually a surprising amount. Even a random character like Jetstorm (dragonfly) feels so good in modern times, inhibited mostly by the lack of head articulation because of the firing missile gimmick. For a while I had his Maximal counterpart from Beast Wars II, Tonbot. I regret so much selling him.
1. I own both him and K9 from the 90s. And I can say mine have never had parts fall off. This is honestly my first time hearing about this. 2. I prefer K9. Colors are better, he's a but taller, and his tail gun and mask are cooler. 3. Mainframe had to make the Beast Wars models twice. True, they went for toy accuracy, then realized they looked terrible. I would Love to look into the universe where we got Wolfang in the show. I want to see his fixed model.
They'd for sure have to fix his chin. I can see the mask either staying, or becoming like a pattern on his helmet. I can see him having a noble knight personality.
i hope they do a wolfang in legacy or whatever we're getting after, would be cool to see what they would do to make a new version or which mold they might retool

It’s kind of weird that this guy and Retrax were the ones that got reissued over other, better, season 1 Beast Wars figures. It seemed like barely anyone wanted either of those 2 figures when I saw them at Walmart. Anyways, I got one more tale from the trade store I previously went to; before I traveled back to Florida. Practically every figure I saw the first time around had all been sold, not much of a shocker, save for Air Hammer. Now I was tempted to get him, but then I felt his legs and those ball joints were loose; so I passed on him. Luckily, however, I found that in one of the glass case shelves they had a complete pre-owned American release of the Tripredacus pack (and only for $50), so I was more than happy to get that. Also, the trade store’s name is McKay’s. It’s in Chattanooga, Tennessee in case you’re ever in that area. They don’t always have the most/best Transformers stuff there but every now and then they’ll get a really good haul.
I know right? It's like they were trying to find the worst ones to Rerelease. That was an amazing get. I would have also gone with Airhammer because I still love that guy. I don't know if I will ever be, but thanks for the heads up.
I got the K-9 repaint of this when I was young when my neighbor gave me all his Beast Wars guys when he moved to college, and even then as a Uncron Trilogy fan boy I knew this figure sucked. It did get me to watch the show though, so that was worth it
I hope we get a new figure of this guy soon with modern articulation, maybe the design will look better then. Also that chin is so funny and I love it.
I love Tigatron but I’d really like to see what the Beast Wars show runners would have done with this guy. Would he be mostly recognizable like Ratrap or Primal or a full redesign like Dinobot?
I think this design might work if revamped for Legacy. The basic silhouette and transformation scheme is interesting, and I like the idea of the wolf head splitting to become shoulder pads and parts of the stomach splitting and folding into hip skirts. But yeah this og toy is REAAAAAALLY struggling there holy shit.
I actually liked the mutant head on this guy back in the day. It has Batman kind of vibe that I liked, and being able to make him talk was fun too. I do agree that he was probably the worst of the first wave BW figures, and one of the worst overall, though. --And it's always fun to listen to you rant about something, food or bad 😁

Like Thew, or Jobby, but I will say there is one guy who sticks in my Craw, but that'd be Drama, and I don't make that. Cant say that I'm currently privy to anything that no one else is, and nothing right now is really hinting at stuff comming down the pipe that hasn't been in the leaks unfortunately.

I remember playing with it a few times but not often but ir was weirdly enough the figure that got me into want a transformers toy which lead to me getting a transmetal Optimus Primal and got me hooked on Beast Wars. But I remember the friend would often display his copy of the figure with the shield and gun stored away on his back as some kind of pseudo Wolfman mode.
The BW reissue had so much promise for the original figure with more show accurate colours but then someone it took a nose dive when we got this, retrax, then this again but brown. Idk if the line is dead or not cause it could do well if they did the show character’s and not what ever mess K9 and Retrax are
either he got his face caved in 60 feet back, or he decided to remove 1/3 of his head (while forgetting his entire chin) just for the mutant mask. Guess the latter would explain his 5 in intelligence

It was worth it for the regular price, if you spend too far beyond that then I'd say no. I'd start feeling a little ripped off beyond 100 dollars, ignoring shipping, and past 120, I'd really not want to pay.
Something about Beast Wars toys looks so appealing to me. Maybe it just cuts to my childhood when toys didnt need to be good, they were just fun hunks of plastic to keep you busy for hours. I kinda want to buy this for that alone, but other figures have that same appeal to me, so I'll probably get one of them instead. Iguanus, Scorponok, Tigatron, Primal, Megs, and Terrorsaur specifically

This is one of the toys I had where I lost the shield so I had a backless wolf. I still liked it though. I also lost the belly boomerangs too. Also imagine he was on the show instead of Tigatron and we wouldve gotten another Silverbolt in season 3😁
That could have been an interesting Dynamic between the two of them, but at the same time Tigatron and Silverbolt never talked either, so maybe nothing would have changed. The big change would probably have been between Cheetor and him.
The monster mask looks like a knock off Batman The Brave and The Bold robot figure, the normal face looks like a character they'd have on the show that was introduced in the Silver Age and never talked about again.
I still see this guy at my Walmart and he hasn't even gone on clearance yet. It infinitely confuses me how they went with Wolfang over... I dunno... Dinobot? Waspinator? Inferno? Tarantulas? Polar claw? Bat primal or gatortron?
I feel the toy only characters didn't stick as strongly in my memory due to their being toy only, but the tradeoff was well worth it, given how beloved and developed the smaller main cast got to be. Then again, the show animators might have looked at the toy prototype, and card back, then shook their head and walked backward slowly.
i hate that they molded one of the front legs further then the other one, like its permanetly in constant decision if it wants to walk 3 steps to the kitchen for a cookie. ngl i kinda enjoy the robot mode
What I remember about this guy is that my brother and I took ours back for a refund, and the customer service dude just assumed it was broken at a glance. Always fun when that happens.
They should have designed this figure to be asymmetrical. IDK about the orignal toys, but Megs and Lio Convoy have asymmetrical robot modes and at least have transformations with better feeling steps. Or maybe just make it like cheetor's transformation if being symmetrical was the goal.
The Asymmetrical thing was really only supposed to be a TM2 thing, I think Lio Convoy was like that because the Anime didn't get that aspect of the designs. Megatron was an outlier, and as soon as he had A TM1 form he became symetrical like everyone else.
I think the problem with viewership on some of the beastwars transformers is that some of them are about character figures that didn't appear in the show. An episode about tigertron or dinobot is probably going to do better than one about polar claw.

I still see this guy at my Walmart and he hasn't even gone on clearance yet. It infinitely confuses me how they went with Wolfang over... I dunno... Dinobot? Waspinator? Inferno? Tarantulas? Polar claw? Bat primal or gatortron?
And they did Retrax first too. What world is this, how disgusting!
Missed opportunity - Wolfang: The Last Furbender
Of course the opportunity was missed, when I don't get the joke.
As in Last Airbender
I feel the toy only characters didn't stick as strongly in my memory due to their being toy only, but the tradeoff was well worth it, given how beloved and developed the smaller main cast got to be.
Then again, the show animators might have looked at the toy prototype, and card back, then shook their head and walked backward slowly.

i hate that they molded one of the front legs further then the other one, like its permanetly in constant decision if it wants to walk 3 steps to the kitchen for a cookie.

What I remember about this guy is that my brother and I took ours back for a refund, and the customer service dude just assumed it was broken at a glance.

I have yes. It's annoying how much a Crystal Version makes me want that Starscream.
They should have designed this figure to be asymmetrical. IDK about the orignal toys, but Megs and Lio Convoy have asymmetrical robot modes and at least have transformations with better feeling steps. Or maybe just make it like cheetor's transformation if being symmetrical was the goal.
The Asymmetrical thing was really only supposed to be a TM2 thing, I think Lio Convoy was like that because the Anime didn't get that aspect of the designs. Megatron was an outlier, and as soon as he had A TM1 form he became symetrical like everyone else.
I think the problem with viewership on some of the beastwars transformers is that some of them are about character figures that didn't appear in the show.
An episode about tigertron or dinobot is probably going to do better than one about polar claw.
Quite possibly, also might have something to do with the Age of the figures.

I actully like this figure tbh i know he is techiclly a pannelformer but when ivwas a kid he looked like my dog in beadt mode thats why i got him back when i was 8
And it's fine to like him for those reasons, but do you think it's a good figure? You are allowed to like a bad thing for any reason.
