  • In today's video I test out 4 different .22lr rounds that I am able to find locally. All rounds are shot at 50 yards and I'm just trying to see what groups I can get from these rounds. If you enjoyed today's video, please give it a thumbs up and if you haven't subscribed yet make sure to hit the subscribe button to stay up to date on future content.

I run the Norma Tac22 ammo in mine, drives them right in the same hole at 50yds. At 100yds, (w/Norma Tac22) it starts to open up a little bit, but still very worthy of .500 groups at 100yds.
I worked over the trigger in mine, replaced the spring, too. I`m just shy of a 1lb trigger now. I lapped the barrel, lapped the bolt. Now the bolt cycles very smooth with no harshness.
I only clean the chamber to remove the carbon ring using Rem 40X gun cleaner with a plastic bore brush & mop. Couple dry patches down the barrel just before i shoot.

Thanks for the info I appreciate it! I recently picked up a box of norma tac 22 but haven't been able to test it yet.

Good advise concentrating on cleaning the chamber (and just up to the rifling), that's where accuracy problems start. I soak a mop with Boretech carbon remover and insert it in the breech the full length of the mop and leave it a while. Anything up to 1/2 hour, then agitate with a brush and push the residual solvent along the bore with a patch or two.
That ensures i get rid of the dreaded carbon ring but don't remove the "good fouling" from the rifling.
      Works for me.

One thing to consider is when you go out to 100 yards. You will find the standard velocity ammo will have much better groups than the other 3 varieties you tested. Reasoning behind this is that "standard velocity" means the muzzle velocity is a little below supersonic. Therefore, the bullet from the standard velocity does not experience the tumbling effect during the transition from supersonic down to subsonic. Most supersonic 22lr rounds experience the sonic transition between 60-75 yards.

I mostly shoot CCI Standard Velocity and Blazer which also made by CCI but is $2.00 less per 50.
They shoot almost exactly the same.

I don't hunt these days, but for squirrel/rabbit I'd zero at 25-30 yards with the cci sv or norma...never liked taking long shots at game, and honestly can't easily see them much beyond...that said, we currently have our cheapo plinking rifles zeroed at 100 yards using automatch (we can afford cheapo!), and we tend to group around 4 inches, which is plenty of fun trying to hit targets that size...I can appreciate the strive for ultimate accuracy, and these days also appreciate that there are so many great shooters across the country...

i have the same rifle and use what ever for fun but i put a barrel tuner on mine and dialed in the tuner to the aguila and live with the rest! my aguila can hold a sub 1moa at 100 yds!

Every one of those groups would harvest a bunny but could miss a tree rat

Am I the only one that bought a scope with 60 MOA of adjustment, cause with the 30 MOA rail with my area I cannot sight it in at 50 yards? My degree was turned down to its lowest setting and was still hitting about 12" high. I am thinking that the new rail which is 0 MOA this scope will work so much better. I was reading and noticed that most are using a scope with 75-100+ MOA adjustment now windage and elevation.

Yea I was reading alot of the fourms online and decided to just buy the 0 moa rail so that i wouldnt have to a buy a scope with so much adjustment. For shooting closer ranges for example the 50 yards the 0 moa rail will work way better with your scope. I think the 30 moa rail is not something everyone will use or try, my local ranges dont really go to 300 yards +

I have never found .22 lr ammo made in the US that is any good. All world class shooters use European ammo.
