    Why do we hunt coyotes?
Coyotes are presently the most abundant livestock predators in western North America, causing the majority of sheep, goat, and cattle losses. For example, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, coyotes were responsible for 60.5% of the 224,000 sheep deaths attributed to predation in 2004.The total number of sheep deaths in 2004 comprised 2.22% of the total sheep and lamb population in the United States, which, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service USDA report, totaled 4.66 million and 7.80 million heads respectively as of July 1, 2005. Because coyote populations are typically many times greater and more widely distributed than those of wolves, coyotes cause more overall predation losses. The United States government agents routinely shoot, poison, trap, and kill about 90,000 coyotes each year to protect livestock.
Coyotes typically bite the throat just behind the jaw and below the ear when attacking adult sheep or goats, with death commonly resulting from suffocation. Blood loss is usually a secondary cause of death. Calves and heavily fleeced sheep are killed by attacking the flanks or hindquarters, causing shock and blood loss. When attacking smaller prey, such as young lambs, the kill is made by biting the skull and spinal regions, causing massive tissue and bone damage. Small or young prey may be completely carried off, leaving only blood as evidence of a kill.
In the absence of the harassment of coyotes practiced by rural people, urban coyotes are losing their fear of humans, which is further worsened by people intentionally or unintentionally feeding coyotes. In such situations, some coyotes have begun to act aggressively toward humans, chasing joggers and bicyclists, confronting people walking their dogs, and stalking small children. Non-rabid coyotes in these areas sometimes target small children, mostly under the age of 10, though some adults have been bitten.

As brutal as some of these shots are, I have to respect that it's over once they've been hit. I appreciate that you go for heart or lung shots, or headshots if possible. If you're going to kill something, even coyotes or boars that are known to be nuisances, a quick clean shot is the least you can do for them. It gives respect back to a life you have to take, and that's what hunting should be about. Respect, but also necessity.

It's crazy how many coyotes exist with hunting like this. I read the stats in the video description and it's hard to believe how much livestock they can kill. Hunting them every weekend for several years around northwest Ohio and three groups that hunted the area would routinely take 20 to 25 a weekend.

Factual statistics quantifying coyote predation would be interesting. Hunting them from afar on youtube (and wolves) suggests the damage is less (probably much less) than many claim, due to ignorance, often inadvertent, sometime arrogant. If's easy to find plenty of Hawg Hunters claiming they are doing a service controlling Hawgs, when they are doing no significant reduction and are making the opposition wary and more difficult to control using more effective tactics. The illusion is an international failing

They provide those. They aren't exaggerated. This method is the cheapest and most humane method to deal with the problem. Otherwise these animals will quickly overbread.
Depending on the weather these animals once this method is being used will attack less and live off the normal food sources like rabbit and mice. During droughts they are more aggressive.
If these ranchers were to pick up their herds and move these animals would starve in droves.

Here there are several different problems 1- coyotes do not kill cows and also if they bother you they can put dogs that care for cows and sheep 2- coyotes, lynxes, foxes hunt rabbits and rats 3. if they kill coyotes and small carnivores the rats and rabbits will destroy it pasture of the cows (THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS TODAY 2022 IN AUSTRALIA) 4- The man shoots everywhere but many bullets go out of his land and this can already constitute a terrorist act before the law 5. It can also be denounced for act terrorist against nature since foxes, coyotes, lynxes are patrimony of the state 6-he can also be put in jail because he uses cows as a decoy to kill small carnivores that it is impossible for them to kill a cow or a 1000 kilo bull 7here we have a subject dangerous with modern weapons who does target shooting with animals quenching his psychopathic thirst for blood and thirst for likes and approval and what is worse this guy has a club of sycophants who congratulate him on his stupidity murderous behavior and ridiculous hills even 8- cows according to scientific studies are one of the causes of global warming and desertification

@Mário César how do you control the population of an animal that has no natural predator that hunts it? In most of the US the coyote is the top of the food chain with nothing to fear (and barely anyone hunts them). Some states have it legal to hunt them year round...which tells you that they really need them reduced.

@Mário César And what of the simple farmer who is just trying to farm and provide for his family who's cattle get killed every year with his herd decreasing. Simple law of nature my friend, adapt or die it's not our fault, we're just trying to survive too do you expect us to just sit and watch as predators come on to our land and do nothing as they kill a newborn calf? Also to think that this land has always been Coyotes may be true but to think they have the right to continue using it is wrong, the right to use land for whatever purpose has always been dictated by the natural law, the strong survive so in todays world it's the humans that are strong and thus we control the land.
