  • Big wild boar on the outside of the trap. Trapped 16 wild hogs on the farmer Fields. This makes 55 wild hogs caught in the Game Changer Trap pig trap on the same property. The hog trap I'm using is a Game Changer Traps ST 2X4 pig trap. It has 2 drop gate control by the Vision Cam app from my cell phone. The Pocket Drag are a plus when dealing with wild hogs and dragging them.

      So the last catch, it was over 100 degrees that day. We were there early in the morning. When it came time to handle them, they had a very unusual smell to them. I have messed with hogs this time of year a lot. This is one group that no body wanted to attempt to process. The landowner decided to bury them so no wild life would get sick or spread any diseases. Im surprised these traps are not designed with an overhang type of barrier at the top. You can see the hog jumping at 7:08. He nearly made it. If the traps had a slanted panel at the top it would make it much harder for the hogs to escape, so not sure why they didnt design that in?

      Thanks you for watching. We do what we can for others when it comes to feral pigs. Usually I have a larger caliber rifle in the truck just encase, but we had made a trip out of town.

    Thank goodness you didnt load them up.... ( alive ) !!! Its about getting rid of the hogs....not making money from them ! Give them away as your doing..after they are dead !
    Need to work with that rifle......put a scope on it. Should be able to hit a quarter sized target at 100 yards ( that is with about a 6 inch drop....zeroed at 50 yards ) Sub-sonics most times are much more accurate !
    I guess thiat is a lever action rifle......most of them are not that accurate though.

    • @hollyridgehomestead
      @hollyridgehomestead  9 месяцев назад

      Need to just start carrying a bigger gun for ones like that. That has only happened a few times. Sometimes I will go out with my thermal and take care of the ones that show up.
      I’m all about getting rid of them. They don’t leave my trap alive. Done that one time before and learned my lesson.

      @@hollyridgehomestead Exactly... Relating to a bigger gun.... well.... accuracy is far more important. Can take down a deer dead on the spot with a 22 lr using sub-sonics. But true... cant hurt to use a larger rifle. Could have taken that hog out at 400 yards....dead !

    Well this is definetely proof that a .22 will take down a hog. Of course the shot placement has to be correct. Plus having them in a trap helps quite a bit lol.

    I’m curious why you use a .22 as opposed to a .223 or 5.56? Is it because of the potential range difference in those cartridges?

      For inside the trap we can only use a.22

      @@Joshn645 Before just finding your channel, I watched a young man posted taking down a reasonably good sized boar with a .22 LR lever action carbine from a blind at 25 yards, he said. Further he said he used to shoot'em just behind the shoulder. They'd drop in as bout 50 yards. Then some one told him, not it's just behind the ear. Not sure what'd be the outcome of a charging 300# boar.
      Just thought I'd share that.
