    • @MichelleMacAuley
      @MichelleMacAuley 10 лет назад +12

      The acting is wonderful, the writing leaves a little to be desired. It could have been an 8 or 9/10, but because of the lack of character development I would say it's only a 6.5 or 7. The acting is what saves it and I agree that Vanessa killed it in this movie. She's exceptional. I think Brendon Frasier could have been a little better, but all of the other main characters are amazing (many of the supporting characters are, too).

    From the moment I saw Vanessa's face in the movie, I knew it was her and I have to say that it's tough to picture her sweet, innocent character from High School Musical and compare it to this. She did a great job, went through stunning transformation, and she showed some real, raw and pure talent here. Amazing.

      Tiandra Eddings Unfortunately, some people are lucky and get a good life; food, home, education, etc. from their parents.
      Others are not so lucky and are abused and/or neglected. On top of that, people think they're bad or lazy, and hurt them with their words and don't offer them any help.
      We should always help those in need for a better world. Besides making the world a better place, helping those in need gives us a special feeling like no other. :) Thank you for your comment. :) Good luck!

      Admirable of you kid.
      Then you turn twelve and hit puberty. You start to question the meaning of life. Your parents stop being super heroes (or villains) but you realise they have flaws.
      Then you turn sixteen and have by now went into connecting and creating social networks with people. You have been hurt, been naive and learnt you can not trust people. You try to learn how to play the social games because you want to be accepted.
      Then you turn twenty and realise you are one person in the world. One person, in a world that does not care about your existance. If you live or die, the world keeps on going. By now you accepted the social games are nothing you will win, just a game nobody can win but everybody tries to play. Maybe you decide to keep playing, maybe you do not.
      Then you hit 25. By now you either have a job, a girlfriend/boyfriend/both or are unemployed. Whatever it is, you have commitments to people. Some people you actually grown to like and some people you have no idea why you care for them. But you are now in a point in life when your time is not your time anymore and obligations shape your major choices in life.
      By then you look back and realise, that you would want to be 8 again. When just deciding to go out and save the world felt easy, since you then imagined people cared for eachother and were unselfish.
      Take care of yourself kid and the ones you love. Do no harm to others, but do not wear yourself out trying to save the world. The world does not care.

    • @SeverinoSE
      @SeverinoSE 9 лет назад +2

      brianna williams Thanks for sharing your story and I have to say I'm a victim of abuse, too. My father was himself abused by a priest and he had a drinking problem.
      Well done for helping others. Victims of abuse can better understand what an abused person feels. Academics like psychiatrists can study so much but still don't know what it feels first hand. And so they cannot always and fully empathise with victims of abuse. In fact, deep down they feel angry because they realise that they were lucky in life to have had good parents that gave them a good education. They hate to think that they were lucky. They believe they did it all by themselves. But that's not the case.

    The fact everyone is praising Vanessa for this movie makes me proud even more of her. People is finally seeing how an amazing actress she is and hopefully they'll stop judging her for her past and her Disney movies. She isn't a disney girl anymore, she grew up and is doing more mature roles. If you haven't watched THE FROZEN GROUND you should do that.
    Give her a chance, she's an amazing person and actress.

    When I first saw this trailer it was from a different account and it didn't have Vanessa's name in the title and I didn't know it was her. Then half way through the trailer I realized it was her and I was shocked. She looked SO different. Who else didn't recognize her? She's amazing.

    This movie was everything and Vanessa was AMAZING from beginning to end. I was in tears from the moment she came onscreen to the very end, she really gave a powerhouse performance. Definitely an Oscar contender for this role, she deserves a lot more recognition for this because it definitely let the world know she’s more than Gabriella Montez or the chick from the Christmas Netflix movies.

      she said in some interview that she's picky in choosing a project. she wants to do something she passionate and afraid to do so that she can grow as an actress. and that she doesn't want to do the same things twice, but it depends on the circumstances.

  • @xradelox
    @xradelox 10 лет назад +3

    I cried. It's really hard to think about what people go through, there are so many types of suffering. Sometimes we bring it on ourselves and sometimes it's thrust upon us. I think one thing this story really put across well is that sometimes we have to draw the line between being hurt and being arrogant. I can only imagine how hard it is to be like Kathy in this story, trying to help simply because you know people deserve help and love, only to be told you're doing it for money or some other selfish reason. When we suffer, why is it that those who WANT to help are the ones we lash out at? So many seem to think that no one in the world understands their situation or the ways in which they've suffered. In the scene where they each read their files out loud, there seemed to be something that clicked in each one and they realized how common their circumstances really were. It's so true. Nowadays, you'd probably have a better chance of picking a random person and them having an equal or worse situation than you than you would someone with little to no suffering. But until someone realizes that, and they feel like no one could understand or care about them, they will never be able to get through what plagues them. We have to be humble and acknowledge that EVERYONE at SOME POINT needs the help of another. Yes there are those out there that prey on the "weak" in these situations and fein caring, but there are some who truely do care. Please don't ever forget that.

    AMAZING FILM, Hudgens is AMAZING in this moving personal drama. I cried, I admit it in some parts a bit. The support cast was excellent too, Rosario was just as good as her as the emotionally disturbed mother. I found the wife of her father far more terrifying since she make some of the more important decisions for her. The subjects of homelessness, Abortion, and personal social drama are not easy to accept so this film was a welcome deep, moving one about them. A few more dramatic roles of quality and Hudgens will be ready to graduate to an Oscar.
