She should've won an Oscar for this
@Dashaya Nvt She didn't, she lost out to Sandra Bullock. Mo'nique did win though.
Such an underrated role!
director diserve to win a oscar
Atiyah A BRUH FR
I agree
Breaks my heart, never take anything for granted. Education is so important. Love this movie.
Take what for granted? Lol did you watch the movie? Do you understand what it's even about
Rio
Maybe she means taking education, a good home, loving parents etc. for granted. It is a good point. Precious is extremely unprivileged, comes from the worst circumstances, was raped, has aids because of the rape, is abused by her mother and so on...yet she still is able to love and move forward. She deserves so much better, but she was practically born into this situation. Nothing that happens to her is her fault. And seeing something like this, while knowing it does actually happen in real life makes you appreciate what you got more. You shouldn't complain about trivial thing, but appreciate the good things in your life.
@@Ghostwarlord_666-cu5mc school is just business... They don't care. Paying 40,000 for a piece of paper the government requires.
Its all about money
Cristina Sanders a piece of paper? A degree is more than just a piece of paper. It's the next step to achieving one's goals. Someone who is aspiring to become a teacher or doctor or chef or pilot wouldn't think a degree is just a piece of paper. I don't know if you know this or not, but there are actually some people who want to pursue a career in something that requires higher education. And for those that are fine with a high school education, that's great for them too! But don't try to downplay the importance of a diploma.
Agree, I was raised by a single mom on minimum wage after my sexually abusive father finally left. I was dirt poor with no one but my mom, bullied and in the worst neighborhood. I was heading down the wrong path, experimenting with drugs and heavily drinking. It was only because I met someone that believed me that I decided to go back to school, I failed, tried again, failed. Finally after 8 years I somehow finished a nursing degree. Somehow I excelled in the program and at my job. It was my ticket out of poverty and into an entirely different world.
This film makes you feel okay about things in your life
+Ginger Brown 26 people disagree with you! 😂
+Ginger Brown well you commented on my post 🙈 😑
+Ginger Brown well I meant it makes me realise my life could be worse... No need for the aggression love👍🏻
nicola woods not really, lol.
Ginger Brown he meant when you watch this you feel better about your life because people go through things that are worse like this for example. Just like when you think your crazy but you see people crazier so you feel less
crazy and feel better about your self. He didn't mean to hurt feelings of the girl he just meant you would feel better about your life after watching this.
i dont think I wanna see the movie. I already cried with this trailer alone. T.T
+jef cadiz same
jef cadiz you gay ain't you?hahahah
Denis Dražetič yeah. So are you bwahahaha
i am not.Are you?
I watched the movie when I was 6.... I cried...HARD.
This film is so underrated. I remembered when it first came out and I watched this thinking "oh another Tyler Perry movie about the stereotypical black family in America" but I just watched it again and it's so relevant. There are many young girls out there that are in the same predicament as Precious and it's so sad. This film was brilliant and sad
Nicole Vanessa it's not a stereotypical black family
A Johnson did you read what I said before you wrote that comment?
Shitty movie that the audience was guilted into liking
It's not underrated it went to the oscars
It's not a Tyler Perry movie lol. That's why it was good.
She’s not alone. My friend was abused by her parents and bullied at school, but shr never gave up
THE TRUE ALMIGHTY FATHER IS WITH US
God bless her.
Hope she’s doing well now
How's she now?
@Alina Bockarie theres a app called movie box it has every movie
This movie scarred me for LIFE. To know some child is going through this right now, is PAINFUL.
I blame this dum movie for me liking fat girls with issues
My mom said me nor my sister could watch this movie when it came out. I watched it a few years later bc I was almost grown and it scared me to the point where I only watched it 1 time. It was so dark 🤧🤧 Just like the movie “For colored girls”.
I googled 'fluorescent beige' as soon as she said that
LOL same! Apparently its a real color too!
It's a very tacky color
same haha!!!
charr441 I think it has a deeper meaning do referring to the girls lighter skin and her looking at precious because she is darker
Wonder McThunder fluorescent beige isn’ta skin tone tho,it’s more of a like pink or something so you can’t really compare it to someone with a light skin tone.
The heartbreaking part of this movie is the amount of women that came out and said that they grew up in a household like the one in the movie. No child should ever be treated so horribly, no child deserves that.
*"Nobody loves me,*
*Your baby loves you and I love you"*
had me cry like I'm 5

About every time I watch this, I cry.

We all do. We all do.
I love this movie but its hard to watch.
I think she's cute😊☺☺. I don't understand why people saying she was ugly in this movie. People just need to stop. 😐😐
+Kaleah Myles who cares if she is ugly.Life is ugly and truth is ugly. And its great because you can't change it
She is a great actor :)
She looks ugly
@@rose-gl4io so do you

This movie made me feel uncomfortable....and whats worse ive heard many famous people use the name of the movie as a joke on the topics its about......the world is messed up
yah I know in the movie grown ups 2 there was a bully and Adam Sandler said" he looks like white precious"

Taco1253 Because people feel okay to make fun of a fat black kid.
To say that there is light at the end of the tunnel would mean oversimplifying the essence of this movie. This movie reaches to the bottom of our hearts in a way no other movie does. To all those Preciouses out there... hang on, humanity as a whole still has a lot to offer.
I saw the trailer and i cried
Agree 😊
Juan Carlos So do you
@@Hidden1000 dumbass
Sameee. 😭😭
Juan Carlos don’t be like that
The mother treats Precious so terribly but is devastated when she realizes she’ll be left alone. Misery loves company. I would never condone this behavior but this is a powerful demonstration of how abusers are often the victims of abuse themselves. Do they still deserve compassion? We’ll have to ask their victims.
Precious is wrong for making her mother so angry all the time. If she would have just done what her mom said and obeyed, she wouldn't have gotten in so much trouble.
@@nunyabusiness3832 but she always did what her mum told her. her mum was wrong for just standing by and doing nothing while the sexual abuse happened to her daughter. precious spent years doing what her her mum told her; cooking, cleaning, whatever. often the abuse was unprompted.
@@nunyabusiness3832 did you...even watched the movie?
no
Still one of my favorite films of all time. Heart-wrenching, brutal, thought-provoking, yet inspiring, and courageous. She went through absolute hell. Was deprived of nearly everything, and had all the odds against her, but even with life's series of unfortunate events, she is still able to dream, and want better for herself and her children. Precious is such an epitome of strength, and the sheer will to survive. I never stop loving this film for the message it gives.
the determination she has to give her babies a better life just had me in tears
There are girls out there like precious. What inspired me was how likeable precious is. She was never a hateful person regardless of her circumstances. It's a powerful message. People that go through heartbreaks like precious are special. Her mother isn't a villan in my opinion . The psychological issues are the biggest problem with people in poverty. You can't blame these people. Finacial prison is literally worse than prison sometimes. But this movie gave me a good feeling in the end because I am proud of lower-end teachers and social workers that choose low wage salaries because they really want to help people.
Nah you’ve def lost your mind and you should def blame her mother .
Thanks for the beautiful and compassionate comment
This movie makes me want to become a social worker or a teacher so that I can help people like precious
same😭
If you have the passion for it. Do it. Just don’t lose your humanity. Aunt was a social worker for 15 years and some point all the cases became the same for her to the point where she was numb to it all and no longer cared like she used to
i feel the same
You are beautiful...
Precious don't need help, she needs to learn to quit being an ungrateful little brat and do what her mother says.
This movie stabs me in the heart. So sad, yet so beautiful.
I know what you mean. I think I only watched it one time.
The teacher in the movie is so pretty
Paula Patton 👍🏾
That's all you got from this?
@Lin_4 Yup. She has a pretty gd heart... 😊❤️
She was a model an was even in her ex husband's music video.
That's your opinion
This has the best acting I have ever seen in any film. It's almost as if it is a documentary about inner-city family life. The entire cast is excellent, but the two leads - Mo'nique and Gabourey Sidibe - are the ones that stand out. I wish it could have been longer as I wanted to understand more about their lives and environment. Great movie!
And the trailer made me cry...

Holy shit Mariah Carey looks so different.
A box of roses Yeah it doesn’t gel with her being such a bimbo diva - cos Mariah Carey was brilliant in this role. That chick can act!

oop- I didn't even know that was Mariah Carey
@@zxltez3642 ...
I wish I had that kind of tracher at my school 😔 I would love her and respect her every single minute !!!
This movie was so ahead of its time, it still would look way ahead of its time if it was made in 2022. The acting, the camera work and that color palette
This movie was a dark and dystopic nightmare. A heart-wrenching tale. The scary thing is this actually is somebody’s life. I can’t remember the last time I cried this much. I’ve got to thank almighty for blessing me with not wealthy but loving and educated parents. Education indeed is the biggest weapon y’all.
P.S. Had precious really existed, I’d be her best friend 😍
It isnt dystopic, its reality
Mo'Nique's best movie yet! No body and I mean nobody else could have played this role better than Mo'Nique. Such a touching movie... 11 years later and it still tears me up inside.
She deserved Oscar for this movie.
@Alina Bockarie If you have an android device, specifically phone, you can download an app call Cinema HD off of Google and you can watch the movie, or any other movies or tv shows on there.
@Alina Bockarie You won't be able to download it on an iOS, but yeah, it's a free app.
@Alina Bockarie Yes it is free.
Queenie
+Gerardo Quiroz I thought it was Queenie!
G QHH YES
G QHH she's dead now
Omg thought bout it
EarthIsA BigNigga nope she’s alive
Mary J. Blige's "Destiny" was a perfect choice for the trailer. And that performance by Mariah Carey...A+mazing!
she don't deserve it! why a good girl is always beaten by people? that seems unfair
Stewie And Brian because bad people find it easier to take advantage of good hearted people.
She seems good cuz she got beaten if she was the one who wasnt then every one would think her as a resource of self-esteem
Unfortunately, there are some cruel, selfish and heartless people in this world and they like nothing more than to take advantage of and bully good people 😢 and this story happens in real life; there are children born to parents who are not able to look after and abuse young children. Some of those young children are lucky enough to be adopted; many of the others have to live through that hell that’s supposed to be there home since the day they were born and it’s so unfair. These children deserve better.
@@lizsugrue5806 True Indeed
She is beautiful... Beauty is with inn.So is ugly...So all you ugly people who say disrespectful things about her.. Remember you shouldn't judge people for what they look like. Theres a story behind each person face. They are the way they are for a reason
👍
@UnsympatheticGod she meant figuratively ugly, not physically.
This is inspiring cause the actor in this movie never even took acting classes and she did good
I'm so grateful for my life and I hope everyone less fortunate like precious gets the best life ever
Ppl like you are so annoying. You just hafta insert yourself. trust, I don't think anyone of misfortunes actually takes you as genuine. You have no tact, you're whack. It couldn't have just been, "wow, I'm really sorry for what you went through. You're really strong for pulling through from all of that. Makes me want to re evaluate what I whine about. OMG, there's such bigger issues out here." Something like that. Never go out in public. If you do, don't ever open up your mouth
@Alina Bockarie its on UK amazon prime
Nobody could pay me to watch it again. This film is SO real and raw...the thought of this actually happening to someone makes me sick and way too sad. I feel like crying already. Such a good film because of its realism.
This movie represents the phrase *"It could be worst.."*
Worse*
Everytime I hear her say ´your baby loves you, I love you´, tears just pop to my eyes, my heart stops for a second.
One of the most darkest, saddest and disturbing movies ive ever watched
My 1st boyfriend used always to compare me to precious my upbringing was so tough but its made me into the strong person i am today
I love this movie so much, it made me cry. (Also, the performances by the actors were amazing)
She is such an amazing actor, truly beautiful in her own way :)
I think this movie made me cry more than any movie I've ever watched
This is a horror movie,honestly!!!
The performances are amazing!
Gabourey deserved the Oscar ,not Sandra
Alone Bockarie There is this website names soap2day where you might find it there. Ignore all of the pop up ads that say you have a virus.
i want to see this so badly. when it came out i was 9 so my parents were like you can't see it!! LMAO
Cooper Bol, lol.
Boi I was like 9/10 and my parents watched me watch it. Will forever treasure this movie
Sameeee
its on Netflix
Shelby Jean Your parents watched you watch it? So as you were watching the movie they were just staring at you the whole time? That’s fuckin weird man.
This movie keeps me reminding to always be NICE towards someone, no matter how they look or what past brings them to now as everyone deserves second chance and acceptance. Period.
this movie makes me so emotional because it makes me realize not only that there's always someone out there that has it worse than you but also that education is immensely important. I think of all of the students in my class who don't give a shitabout coming the school and they always slack off and are disrespectful to the teachers and I just think that, there's some other kids somewhere else in this country that wishes that they had the opportunity to come to school everyday but they can't because they can't afford it or they are in serious situation that there in is holding them back from doing that. Never ever take education for granted , it's so important and I wish more people my age it would realize that.
“ nobody loves me”

Yes she deserves an Oscar and respect.
I was so glad Precious found the strength not to believe all the lies and to walk away from all this dysfunction. I was cheering for her with tears running down my face.
Her name is precious but her life was miserable. So sad
This is one of my favorite movies of all time, and if you knew me that would surprise you. But I feel every single nuance this film is meant to help people understand. It gives me all the "feels" as I'm told people on twitter say haha. This film's writing and acting and message is absolutely exceptional.
Gabby is just amazing! Beautiful lady!

Good job Precious! That was some kick ass acting.
God coming back to this, this movie changed my life as child. I was in shock. I have now decimated my life to helping others. I look forward to the impact. Life is precious ❤️
Fantastic film. Powerful, real and stunningly performed.
This is one mighty powerful film.
A mighty BIG one too. Precious literally took up the whole movie 😂
I hope this film will soon get all the love and recognition it most certainly deserves.
It was nominated for best picture, got Monique an Oscar, the film was critically acclaimed, made a good profit, people remember it. It doesn't seem underrated. If you're waiting for the day that these kinds of movies outperform Marvel/DC movies, I regret to inform you that's never gonna happen.
I never thought I will cry by just watching trailor...
This movie makes me grateful for my loving mother and my life
I wish I can just hug this girl.😭😭😭😭
I love this movie makes me really appreciate my life when you think you going through something it’s nothing compared to some one is really going through hell I love this song to the movie I can’t find it no where sounds like Mary j but I can’t find it

Underrated Movie !
My mom felt this movie in her bones. Now I know the pain she talks about.
My human emotions have fallen vulnerable and naked.
I felt goosebumps.
I felt fire.
I heard the outcry for social justice.
I watched this movie way back In 2014 and looking back on the trailer gives me the chills
I just cried from purely watching the TRAILER I don’t think I could I could handle watching all of it😪
I watched this movie when I was about 12 because it was the only movie at my grandma’s house that I hadn’t watched yet. I didn’t understand most of it at the time, but the more I look back at it the more I appreciate it. But also the more I realize that was a lot for a 6th grader to watch before bed...
When precious said “nobody loves me” felt 😕
Well she was right, because nobody does.
There can always be inner beauty, no matter what mask it hides, thats what truly matters.
i watched it a few times, and it make me ugly cry.. like really ugly cry... i love this movie. it helped me so much trought out the years and years and years from molested by family members, feeling unwanted, and live a life with broken home family... Thank you. thank you so much.
I need to gather courage to watch this movie. Its gonna crack open the old wounds.
This movie was amazing and it shows you how life is hard and good
What a tragic movie with moments of hope only to be a tragedy
My heart goes out to all those trying to live through such hardship
great movie...everytime the teacher says ´your baby loves you, I love you´, I choke.... just heartbreaking that so many are growing up without being loved....I can feel their pain...
I saw this trailer like 7 years ago at the beginning of a DVD. It's always stuck with me even though I never saw it. I remember trying to fast forward because it made me want to cry.
Best trailer....EVER.

I can't believe my self because I read the book and didn't see the movie wtf they both make me cry
I loved the whole movie and the storytelling because of the perspective of the main lead and her background.
Oh my goodness! That trailer had tears streaming down my face. I've been wanting to watch this movie since it came out. Now it's what, 8 years later?
It’s crazy to think how many people can relate to this film. These are the issues that a lot of us face. Maybe not entirely, but I’m some shape or form. This was an excellent movie with great actors/actresses.
After watching this i Guess i understand why people think different of me because my name is precious and when i tell people so then they look at me and say are you serious but really All the Bad things in this movie is the oppisite well to me ofc people shouldnt judge she has big dreams and she is beautiful just the way she is
I've known some strippers that have gone by precious. That was before this movie ever came out.
