This is the story of a writer who, after having great success with his first book, has a disastrous creative block. So much so, that not even the pencils want to write for him.
In her anguish for him, a delivery girl arrives at his door and delivers a mysterious box. After inviting her in for coffee, they share a pleasant conversation about fame and success.
What's in the box?... No one knows what inspiration can be wrapped up in.

I watched this movie the same day it came out, I kept thinking about it everyday and I still do, I come back here every time I don’t know what I’m doing, so it can help me and remind me of what I’m capable of doing, achieving and making! I have many hobbies, that I can’t keep up with, and when people ask me who am I, I find difficulties explaining what am I, who where or when I am myself, a writer? No a poet, well actually I can sing, dance, and bake, cook, crochet… hold on, I can also make jewelry, draw and design, etc… so many things, and saying my name is not sufficient for me, my name doesn’t define who I am… and the impact this movie left on me is unimaginable! I watched it when I was a teenager who was dealing with identity issues, that found this video one day and decided to look for what I am… I love this movie ❤️

I did that when I travel alone… just sitting at a cafe, people watching and letting time pass till someone next to my table looks approachable to chat. Sometimes they initiate conversation with me, but most time I do not regret having beautiful convos with them… some of them put things in perspective for me!
I met amazing people when traveling. I really reccommend!

The injured, but perfectly fine dog at the end was actually quite impactful. At first we would think the worst- the dog died, coz chances of surviving was near zero . But this animated short shows that even the "near zero" Chances must be acknowledged.

Well what if you wanna believe it so badly that maybe this time there's luck but the psychic already predicted that there's not and that prediction makes you lose hope all the time.

When the man finds out and tells her the box is empty, she asks him to look again. The second time he looks, he understands that it was not a thing that she delivered. What she delivered was hope, love, gratitude and a sense of meaning to his life.
What moved the man was the realisation that his work impacted, helped, befriended and influenced a life. That realisation moved him to work again on his craft with heart and passion.

I think it's a heartwarming story! Sometimes, people find encouragement from others unexpectedly, and later, they return that luck. It's touching. As for the contents in the box, I believe the red items symbolize inspiration, passion, and love. The man used to feel lonely because after he became famous, he lost the genuine connections with people and started to doubt hinself. However, when he met the girl, he discovered the true meaning of writing and was no longer confused. It's amazing how luck transferred through love.

I think the little red colored fairy dust shimmering from the empty box in the end indicates that the man can find inspiration from the things around him, even the most mundane ones. Throughout the animation, everything is in black and white except for the color red splattered in different objects and persons. The man was suffering in writer's block and possibly even depression and generally loss of meaning and purpose in life. The moral of the story is there is no great unknown or no great surprise that we need to constantly find in order to be happy. We just have to look for the magic even in the most ordinary things and continue our journey one step at a time. 😊

Wow. What I took from this is inspiration can come from literally anywhere. Down to a chance encounter of luck created by inspiration.
This is such a profound and graphically appealing film that inspires us to go deeper into our sense of identity and existence. It implies that all of these factors-experiences, memories, and connections-help to shape who we are as people and make us unique. The short film shows how we tend to questioning ourselves and our value in the world. Seems like most of us are always unhappy with what we have, no matter how lucky we are. But sometimes something insignificant to us may seem so special to others.
The box looks empty, but we can fill it again and again.
Think deeply about what we actually want to put in the box.
There's gotta be something we can put in it.

"There's nothing in the box" like our lives, we all started empty, and day by day we fill it. We fill it with happiness, love, pain, sorrow, success, etc.
Well, the size of our boxes doesn't matter, what really matter is what we put inside, if we decided to put negative things like hatred then our box would be very heavy making it so difficult to carry. Like in our life, if we live on full of hatred, bitterness and anger, then it would be so difficult to move on and hope for tomorrow.

I was moved to cry. His situation was like me. My own job encountered the same problem. I wanted to find myself back. I was even lost. I opened the channel on youtube and taught myself animation. I'm a japanese junour high shcool student. I can't write English well. But I want tell you what I felt. I have to study hard now because I want to go on to high shcool. I study everyday. I sometimes think "Why do I study? Why do I want to go on high school?" And I cry everyday. I've just watched your lovely new short totally by chance, and fell in love with. What a wonderful story and characters! Sometimes I feel that people who experienced a bitter side of life can make own life more lovable, and can encourage others with knowing the life of pain. It's a bit difficult for us sometime to go through the hard time, but life is always changing as well as any rain can stop someday. Your short film became my favorite, and encouraged me a lot to keep calm and carry on what I really want to do in my life. Thank you for sharing your beautiful film on RUclips, and your film brought me a "lucky" box, too.

@@stevearumuko9863 I think people interpret it differently but here's what I got, the mail lady killed 2 birds with 1 stone. She helped the writer with existensial crisist and also helped him with the writer block. She told the writer about how much he inspired and helped her with his book, and also gave him idea to write by delivering the empty box (imo he started writing some kind of mystery box story as you can see from the moodboard he created and how he used the logo from the empty box for the story)

Funny how this short film is exactly like my life. I’m a writer too, and my books have been best-selling for a 2 year straight. After all that fame, I feel so stuck. And I don’t have any idea what to write anymore… It became so hard for me just to write. Many things happened. I tried to date to get inspired, but in the end, it left me heartbroken and depressed. But this 2024, finally I can write again, I have many inspirations to write and am so happy I finally found myself again. ❤❤ Thank you for creating this short film, it is heartwarming to me

That is an illusion: the book has been written, long before you 'arrived'🌞
In truth we write in it until life ends.
It's telling me that when you feel empty, there comes people and scenarios that will give you inspirations. They will give you the motivation to get back up. But it's up to you on how you will make use of it. The box stands as your drive. What follows that is action. Action that's done as a result of your newly found motivation. It also tells me that when you are in the middle of your own crisis, trust the process. Have trust that it will pass and you will get back at your own feet. But when that time comes, make sure that you will take really good care of your new opportunity and do your best with it.

I think his head was actually too full of success from the past to live in the present, or imagine the future, so to empty his head would actually be a step forward to making room for new things. I'm only saying this because I've been stuck on the fact that I earned a certain degree, and and thought that my life had to revolve around that point in my life. Even socially I've stagnated, trying to still rely on connections from then instead of making new ones. Time to empty myself of the past.
Sweet film, watched a while ago and it hasn't lost its meaning, nor do I think it ever will, deep messages in simple art can have long impact, I understand many of the comments here about its cathartic nature when feeling lost or alone, there is hope for better and the god's willing, chances to rise and find what you need to make your heart complete.

Like i said, the box is just a trick for the girl to meet him personaly.
