I've always been interested in cartooning, animation, and comics, so he was big inspiration for me. • Odie is my favorite character. • Ironically I liked the Gnorm Gnat character more than Garfield because he was a bug and I was more of a fan of bugs. • I had a grandfather figure who was the carpenter who built Davis' house and would occasionally bring me sketches Jim did for me. I watched "Garfield and Friends" every Saturday as a kid in the '90s! Also, I loved the "9 Lives" TV special too. It was a little creepy but I loved it, especially the Diana segment ( even though it ended a little sad 😔) the different art styles all intermixed made it a wild ride.

Great video izzy. Very informative. However i was hoping to see more of the 'im sorry jon' which i guess its called. I have seen these artworks passed around online of Garfield in disturbing horror imagery and was genuinely confused as to why someone would pair Garfield into horror imagery. But this video still kind of explains it sort of.
It's sad that so much plastic and parts wound up in the ocean, but the fact that it was specifically Garfield phones and it was washing phones up on the for over 30 years just gets me everytime it's just. It is kinda hilarious
If I ever land a movie role that requires me to cry on cue, I only need to hear someone say the *title* 'Diana's Piano' and I'll be bawling in seconds. That short has never failed to tear my heart right tf out since I watched it as a kid and all the years after that, not *once.*

i love garfield so much he’s epic what i don’t love is when people try to make garfield a spooky boi he’s just a fat cat who likes lasanga not a lovecraftian beast
Me too, I love Garfield and I grew up looking at the tv series and the reboot of Garfield, mostly the reboot. I loved how much the comedy and satirical sarcastic nature of Garfield gave him a great character aspect and I adored that. But when the whole thing of the I’m sorry John, and the entire spooky scary thing came around (mostly the lovecraftian and Zalgo thing with Garfield came) I really disliked it because it took away what mainly created what Garfield is.
@@TheSwanqueenAndTheEldricth More than that. It was a disgrace. It sickens me to think people see our lasagna God that way. I'm writing this as I am about to be taken to the great beyond as a sacrifice, and they will use my body as meat for their lasagna offering. Garfield deserves no less.
Wait, they didn't add professor Garfield to the iceberg? huh, thought it would've been interesting to note maybe nobody knows about its existence until now
That was exceptionally well made, Izzy! I love your content! Never got a chance to see the show or the specials tho. Was really a treat to see a Garfield iceburg! Keep it up! ❤
I know a lot of kids found it scary but 9 Lives weirdly helped me understand death as a part of life and how our pets can only be with us a short time. That and Disney's Thomasina are what I thought of when the cat I'd raised since childhood died after 19 wonderful years together. And they really brought me a lot of comfort and closure.

idk why this one in particular
Yes we do
Fun fact: this was a fortnite reference
@@jaredprice1696 lMAO REALLY?
Garfield and odie about to wage war on nermal
Are we just going to ignore the fact that there's a furby spider
The furby spider is in most of Izzy's videos
We will
I DIDNT NOTICE my furbies send their support to the cursed spider oddbody 😭
Talk about it that thing was freaking me out for a second
I dunno, it’s beautiful though
You forgot "Gorefield" the SCP based on Garfield.
@capital-copycat 2003 huh. Colour me hiding under a rock.
I still love Garfield comics, I don't care what anyone says. For me. it's a nice warm slice of comfort food.
Plus I like how Jim Davis has a sense of humor to support certain parodies of his work.
I went to watch Garfield and his 9 lives. No idea how it did it, but it managed to make me cry.
After how surreal many of the segments were, the return to normalcy at life 8 was such a relief.
This video reminded me how much I love Garfield. I watched 'His 9 lives' last night and haven't stopped crying over 'Diana's Piano'. I don't trust anyone that doesn't cry at that!!
Never forgiving Jim Davis for the jumpscare in Garfield's scary scavenger hunt. 9 year old me TRUSTED YOU JIM...
i’m not even a fan of garfield but when i saw “garfield iceberg” you know i had to click
6:03 THIS!!! This game is my oldest internet memory and as I get older it’s actually just one of my earliest memories period. I couldn’t have been older than 3-4 when I played it, and it scared the absolute hell out of me, but I played it like every day and managed to beat it a few times. I replayed it years ago before flash died and it was actually still pretty fun :) warms my heart to see it here
As a child i used to religiously watch the first live action garfield movie. by the way my mom tells it at some point in my life i would not be able to go to sleep unless she put on the garfield movie for me. to this day i love the movie. when you said that the movies were widely hated i had to do a double because i was actually surprised by that statement. man the power of nostalgia.
Izzzy, are you ever going to do a makeup tutorial?
Hearing that your age is 18: cool, fine, an adult
Hearing "my glorious birth year of 2002": HATE IT, CURRENTLY CRUMBLING, THE SANDS HAVE ENGULFED ME
I know, I'm a babyfaced 28 year old....honestly, I just assumed Izzy was a similar age to myself until recently.
That sentence gave me more existential dread than any of the darkest Garfield stuff
@@raggletaggle8827 Right? What a world.
When she said that I thought "Oh my god, she's a child!"
The true difference between Heathcliff and Garfield is that... Heathcliff doesn't take shit from anyone, and literally beat anybody up who are 10x larger his size.
Wonder who would win in a fight
i was obsessed with garfield as a kid (i must have taken out every garfield book my library had multiple times), so it was weird just how much i knew! awesome video, great to listen to while i do work.
"Lyman has appeared 69 times in the comics"
*Nice*
I'm uncomfortable with just how much of this i already knew...
Where'd my Pipe go?

i was born in 2005. i can’t believe she’s only 3 years older than me
Where does she say that?

(Edit) wait, if Garfield is living and dying infinitely does that mean that he’s just suffering an infinite death? If so, then y’all better start making Garfield death memes instead of diavolo death memes rn
Honestly, an AU where Diavolo takes care of Garfield is so stupid that it's funny.
@@servantofwrath7370 yes, I’m animating this, diavolo will die in the end, thus making it canon
I personally like to think that the Garfield Alive comic and Garfield Minus Garfield are linked. Like, Garfield is stuck in purgatory while Jon is stuck in a depressing reality.
Garfield is a JoJo reference.
@@TheAmazingSpiderPunk oh my god
the fact that garfield has daddy issues is hilarious
I watched "Garfield and Friends" every Saturday as a kid in the '90s! Also, I loved the "9 Lives" TV special too. It was a little creepy but I loved it, especially the Diana segment ( even though it ended a little sad 😔) the different art styles all intermixed made it a wild ride.
so we just gunna ignore how jon kept someone in his basement ok i see

this reminds me of a garfield plush my mom gave me when i was younger. it was hers when she was a kid (she was born early 70s so this thing is OLD). i should go find it
Did you find it
@@pinkman_ no, i never did. its probably at my nana’s house or in the attic
Aw man I was hoping there would be mention of “Gorefield”

Great video izzy. Very informative. However i was hoping to see more of the 'im sorry jon' which i guess its called. I have seen these artworks passed around online of Garfield in disturbing horror imagery and was genuinely confused as to why someone would pair Garfield into horror imagery. But this video still kind of explains it sort of.
It's sad that so much plastic and parts wound up in the ocean, but the fact that it was specifically Garfield phones and it was washing phones up on the for over 30 years just gets me everytime it's just. It is kinda hilarious
It's crazy how many styles Garfield has went thru
If I ever land a movie role that requires me to cry on cue, I only need to hear someone say the *title* 'Diana's Piano' and I'll be bawling in seconds. That short has never failed to tear my heart right tf out since I watched it as a kid and all the years after that, not *once.*
Odie being smart makes sense; I made a D&D character which was Garfield as a warlock with powers granted to him by Odie, who was Odin in disguise.
7:32 the exact second i unlocked a major long-lost nostalgia blast OMG
6:43 i think Jon and Lyman were more than "just roommates" considering he's appeared 69 times
I feel like “Stu is god” is something i knew on a subconscious level but now that ive seen it in writing i cannot handle it
i came to your channel for the art drama stuff, but your newer videos are actually AMAZING. you have potential to become really big in the future, and when you do, don’t forget us!
thanks for making such awesome content, and keep up the absolutely phenomenal work!
You are simultaneously the first and last person I would expect to do an Iceberg video on Garfield.
I’m still not used to content creators being around my age
this is why i subscribed to you “i used to think of myself as a pretty big garfield fan before i saw this” i didn’t even know i knew a lot of garfield “lore” when i would talk to my friends about it until one day when i was telling my friends some real crazy cannon shit they were like “how do you know this” and i fell down this rabbit hole
“In my glorious birth year of 2002-“
me: hOW AM I OLDER THAN YOU
And I'm younger than her being born in 2003 lol
lmao thats one thing I took away from that video too. I mean, I'm still younger than her by 1 year, but idk I guess I got used to assuming that most content creaters are a lot older than me
@@Cherryxarts content creators were always older, but now im starting to become older than some of them... It feels really weird.
I was born in 2002 too :)
that made me feel so old... so so old...
i'm surprised that there wasn't an entry called "bullets won't work Jon"
Gorefield
i love garfield so much he’s epic
what i don’t love is when people try to make garfield a spooky boi he’s just a fat cat who likes lasanga not a lovecraftian beast
I would mind the modern Garfield deviations less if there weren't people insisting their meme cuts were better than the original comic.
Garfield canonically weighs 80 pounds more than me, and I don't know how to feel about that.
@@PIB2000 Garfield thiccccc
What I expected: some fun facts about Jim Davis, some behind the scenes, maybe some early concept art
What I got: Garfield has met God
I had completely forgotten about Garfield and Friends but the opening of this video hit me with such a wave of nostalgia
Still the best Garfield cartoon
Great video, I never even knew about most of the Garfield 'expanded universe'. The first design with the huge jowls is my favourite tho.
The 9 lives movie made my big sister cry and its specifically the Diana's piano segment
Thanks for making this! I'm a grizzled old punk rocker, a underground cartoonist, and life long fan of Garfield! Great video!
One day I really hope to make beloved and popular characters that end up with such extensive lore both canon and fan speculated
I'm surprised there was no mention of Garfielf: Fist of the Borf Star
This video helped me realize I know a LOT more about Garfield than I thought i did.
I am VERY surprised "I'm Sorry Jon" wasn't on here.
Wait, they didn't add professor Garfield to the iceberg? huh, thought it would've been interesting to note
maybe nobody knows about its existence until now
Hey I'm the creator of this image. I know about Professor Garfield but I didn't think it was important enough to add.
@@gavinsbarbicue ah, I see, thanks!
Oh yeah I remember professor Garfield
That was exceptionally well made, Izzy! I love your content! Growing up, I read every Garfield comic the children's section of my local library had, including the original "9 Lives" (had no idea there was a redo), the anniversary book and one single, solitary random US Acres book.
