I recently revealed the genders of my two girlfriends. It got a lot of hate and now has 30 times more dislikes than likes. I am really sad that people can be so mean. Sorry for using your comment to talk about my problems, dear s1
The fascinating thing about the Porygon episode situation is it wasn't just pokemon that had production changes; that incident pretty much changed the way all anime got made; those kinds of strobing effects didn't just disappear from pokemon, they disappeared from the whole medium of anime. To this day, you never really see those kinds of effects there.
@@mouldywolf6626 I did almost bring up the dimming, which I also particularly notice in MHA (though I think it’s used elsewhere too). Had no idea that was only for the broadcast version and home video didn’t have it. Very interesting to learn that.
It's also a perfect introduction to a topic for complete newbies and veterans, newbies have a comprehensive list from the most simple to the most complex and strange, while veterans test their knowledge
i cant stand these iceberg videos most of the time just cuz the format is always so samey and there are entire channels that seem to be dedicated to just like... explaining memes from certain shows or whatever and thats just not content lol. the only reason im even watching this vid is cuz i like this channel lol
I remember as a kid showing my friends the Lavender Town theme because I thought it sounded cool, and them freaking tf out and calling me a fake friend because I, and I quote, "wanted them dead". _Ah, the sweet memories of childhood._
@@HitTheFloor16 I mean yeah, but at the same time, the same thing happened to me and...i'm an adult now lol. It def did not matter or last compared to the bullying I experienced from my peers. My peers from back then actually still think Lavender town will hurt them, and to be really honest, I don't care cuz they bullied me a heck ton after the fact. In short, for me it was the bullying that was traumatic bc of the rumor and me enjoying creepypasta, and then the slenderman incident happened, and they started telling teachers they were afraid of me because I enjoyed fake internet stories. The amount of times I had my bag checked for literally no reason, it's 100% worth it for me knowing they still believe that lavender town was ever real. However in circumstances like you mentioned, I can see why it can be traumatic for the person who had them play it and they just come at you with that, from the sound of it they were real young and I cannot imagine the level of hurt that must've been felt when they said that :((
Oh! There’s actually a fun historical reason why sword and shield’s fossils are abominations. Apparently back in the early days of paleontology it was common to mishmash fossils from different species and there were a lot of impressive looking (but overall incorrect) fossils that were assembled for display. It’s obviously not accurate to modern day paleontology, but a mostly fun reference. Side note, Arctozolt is top-tier and I luv him
Dracovish is actually a direct reference to the earliest Plesiosaur reconstruction, as the scientist who reconstructed it specialized in herptology (study of reptiles) and accidentally placed the head where the tail should be (as lizards usually have longer tails and short, stubby necks)
This is also why Arctovish’s jaw is on the top of its skull; the Dunkleosteus that it’s based on has a hole near the top of its skull, which could be misconstrued as a “mouth.” The skull could have been rotated improperly for this reason.
I think it's important to note that in Arceus, the boy isn't being held hostage by the Driftloon, it's a misunderstanding and the Driftloon is their partner Pokémon. The same kid can be seen at night indoors playing with the Pokémon. The adults of Legends of Arceus are terrified of all Pokémon, due to the later being mostly seen as wild animals - Arceus is actually explaining where the original concepts of these later dex entries come from, while implying many dex entries are embellishments of fearful humans who don't fully understand the Pokémon they are writing about.
To add onto this, a good example is dusclop's entry- in diamond and pearl it's "Its body is hollow. It is said that those who look into its body are sucked into the void " but in Arceus it's "There are rumors that peeking inside its bandage-wrapped body will cause one to get pulled in through the gaps between the bandages, never to return. I've been too scared to verify. " It's Laventon recording a local rumor (He even directly states it IS a rumor) but later professors/academics just... cut that part out and treated it like a fact.
So this means that every single Pokédex entry should be taken with mass amounts of salt? Good to know that this could mean many Pokémon aren’t in pain or are as dangerous as believed.
My theory about Mimikyu personally is that they're somehow related to Darkrai in a way. Like, being forms of pure nightmare that they cover up with a cloth because they don't wish to hurt anyone.
Huh. Now my love (...l-lust? Come on, there had to be at least one other kid who had a crush on Darkrai from that ine movie...) for Darkrai can explain my fondness of Mimikyu, too!
I don't believe it, but I remember back when gen 7 (and Mimikyu) were just released, I read a theory that Mimikyu was related to Porygon as a way for poor Pory to get back into the spotlight after being blacklisted from appearing in the anime for an attack it didn't commit, by dressing as the real culprit who was beloved- as well as the house you obtain Porygon from having an empty Mimikyu costume in it
27:00 I'm pretty sure White Hand is also about how an NPC in Lavender Town asks you if you believe in ghosts and then says that there is a white hand over the player's shoulder. It's also referenced again in Pokemon Origins when someone tells Red the same thing and if you pause you will actually see a white hand on Red's left shoulder.
It's also mentioned in the lets go games! An npc asks if you believe in ghosts and for one of the options (yes or no) they talk about it but you never actually see anything
Also in Pokemon Masters EX, Morty (in his Halloween 2021 outfit) makes a reference to the White Hand by saying that he loves the player's costume and that the White Hand on the player's shoulder looks realistic!
i wonder if some of the later references were added because the devs knew about the popularity of the creepypasta? pokemon games have been influenced by the fans several times (like the lapras thing) so i imagine someone thought it would be cool to bring back a random throwaway line because of the popular story it inspired
Fun fact about the “Pokémon is Satan” thing, it led to me creating and sustaining a Pokémon Black Market (we even had a pseudo-speakeasy) at my ultra-Christian boarding school. Yes, it was incredibly dumb.
That is... so disappointing. My Catholic school used Pokemon as a whole way to preach to us. "Ash and Pikachu trust in you, just like you should trust in Jesus. Just like Ash and Pikachu work together, you need to work together to do good things and help each other." They weren't cool with us stealing Pokemon cards from each other because "Stealing is sinful and stealing Pokemon is bad." I swear they could make anything Jesus-approved.
@@jamie1602 Totally, and I’ve definitely met some youth pastors like that. For us, I mean, it was just that a lot of the teachers were pretty old and just… the worst type of Christian, imo. None of them cared to learn what Pokemon was actually about, they just knew it included “evolution” and excited kids enough to get them distracted. But the speakeasy was a beacon in a dark time! One of the teachers actually really liked Pokémon and would let us play in their classroom. We had a system of lookouts in case any of the older teachers came sniffing around (which they often were? for some reason?), and could clear a table of Pokémon cards in less than 3 seconds.
The thing about Raichu's ability to "incapacitate an Indian elephant", is that animals apparently existed alongside Pokémon on the early gens, but that slowly phased out. Legends Arceus bringing this back this by replacing it with Copperajah, a Pokémon that's based on an Asian Elephant with an Indian motif is actually kind of clever. However that does bring up some disturbing implications: mainly the fact that Copperajah is the main Pokémon used by the antagonist of Sword and Shield, games set in Galar, a region directly based off England. And if you know anything about England's relationship with India throught history, suddenly Galar's most popular dish being curry becomes a little unsettling.
There's more to that actually. Just look at the character in SwSh, the main antagonist Chairman Rose and his family (Brother and niece both encountered in the DLC), the champion Leon and his brother who is also your rival you immediately notice that they have darker skin and they look pretty obviously of Indian origin to some extent at least. Chairman Rose even have a Copperajah as his final pokemon and as the pokemon that can Gigantamax in his team. Also there is the fact that in the french translation of Legend Arceus, the professor sometimes speaks English and is depicted as an Englishman despite having a bit of a darker skin tone than expected for an Englishman, he also mention the Copperajah of his homeland wich as Izzy said, may not be Galar but a region based on India. The professor of this game has also been theorized to be the ancestor of Leon and his brother. All of this leads me to believe that : -A region based on India exist and os likely going to be the region for the next generation and if not we're going to see it at some point -Brittish colonialism exist in the Pokemon universe, meaning that region have actual government wich we never really see in any of the pokemon games
If Galarian colonialism happened as a parallel to real life, then Alola (Hawaii) was already one of the targets of Galar. Makes you wonder how they're gonna incorporate that into the lore in the occasion we revisit Alola someday.
The Kanto games had a model of Space Shuttle Colombia in the Pewter Mueseum, and diaries in Cinnabar Mansion stated that Mew was found in South America So the Pokemon world was originally part of the real world but that got completely gutted later.
As for that, Its because Rose seems to be from indian decent and a tie to his bussinessman and industrialization theme, not because of some crypic social commentary in regards to the indian colonies Take for example how his brother (who is a heroic figure) Peony also has a Copperajah
Here is my "shiny before the internet" story. I was playing Emerald version (I think) and I was going through a cave. I had to break a rock to get to the other side of the cave and when I did, a shiny Geodude popped out. Neither I nor my siblings knew about shinies so I was like, "Is that a gold Geodude?!?!" and proceeded to try and get its life down without killing it so I could catch it. well, I did that, but when I went into my backpack to get a Pokeball, I was all out. I had no Pokeballs at all. Small me was devastated. I didn't know what to do so I kept the Gameboy on (plugged in under my pillow) for the next two days trying to figure something out. Eventually, I turned the console off without saving thinking I could run into it again if I did the same thing I did last time. needless to say, that didn't happen. I spend sooooo long in that cave trying to find the gold geodude but I never did. the worst part is that when I told my siblings about it they didn't believe me and said I made it up. (I didn't think to show them for the TWO DAYS it was sitting under my pillow. ya know, like an idiot.) and to this day I still have not found my golden geodude. Thank you for reading my shakespearean tragedy. Lik if u cri every tim
Same but a purple krabby. Strangely and improbably, i did run into another one shortly after that i did catch. Thought that the fishing spot must be special and still kinda do given the incredible odds of findong 2
The Lavender Town music does have headache-inducing effects, but for rather tame reasons: The music is harsh and the gameboy speaker is extremely sharp. If you happen to be sensitive to noise, or are neurodivergent, it can be unpleasant. The Lavender Town music is mush harsher and louder than most gameboy music, so people with audio processing issues don't handle it well. But just turning the game boy volume down alleviates it. This is all rather tame, and is similar to how VR headsets give some people motion sickness.
The fact that Pokemon actually caused mass hysteria is so wild. I remember all of these things. What a legendary series, imagine being one of the people who created it...? The impact it's had on the world just blows my mind.
As a kid who would stay up late at night huddled under my covers watching “top ten scariest Pokémon facts” I appreciate this video. Don’t worry about the multiple part videos, icebergs can be long and I don’t mind waiting ❤️❤️
That one picture of ash lying in a hospital bed and the other picture of a creepy looking hypno will forever be etched into my mind. Honorable mention: that one jigglypuff picture with the red eyes. You know the one.
i actually stopped watching tv when i was younger cause i thought it would turn to static and the creepy jigglypuff would come out of the tv and into real life lol
@@Orion-ih5xl it's basically a Jigglypuff with an intense stare into the camera and red (bleeding i think) eyes. It's background is all black and it scared a bunch of kids
I'm at "Shinies before the internet" part and I was one of those. For some reason when I first played Diamond, when I got the simple rod I spent a good hour fishing. Well I got a shiny magikarp, and it looks like it's made of gold, so I thought "WOW THAT THING MUST BE SO RARE", caught it, and felt validated that I spent an hour staring at my screen just fishing over and over for no reason. Years later I started shiny hunting, aka staring at my screen for hours waiting for pixels to change colors and sparkle. Young me was onto something!
Mine was a Nidoran male... I played a lot of rpg games growing up so when I found one in silver I thought because it was a different colour it would give me more exp. 💀 I also took a sunkern to the elite 4 (I didn't know how to evolve it lol) so I definitely wasn't the smartest kid when it came to pokemon lol. To this day I still haven't redeemed myself and gotten a shiny Nidoran. Maybe if they make a new gen 2 Remake I'll finally redeem myself from that loss! Lol
my first shiny was a pideon. I thought the shinies were also stronger than normal ones (like golden guns in old fps games) and caught it only to be disappointed, at least it as also the first pigeon I caught so it had the propose of filling up the pokedex
Always loved the Lavender Town theme, even since childhood. I don't know what it is about the tune but I find it so comforting?? Turns out my childhood friends didn't feel the same way 😅
I used to be the same! I didn't have stuff like an MP3 or nothing like most kids my age but I did have an original Gameboy, and I would fly to three towns regularly just to listen to the music; Lavender, Cinnabar, and Vermilion, and Lavender was by far the one I went to most often, especially at night during long car rides.
It always spooked me a bit but I always loved the little "doot doot doot doot doot doot doot doot DUHHU DUHHH DUHHH DUHHH duh duh duh duh duhhhhh" it sounds so sad but also just like the word "Lavender" if you get what I mean??
I find it like weirdcore its comforting but in a scary way? like being friends with your shadow demons, Having a demon father that you love, just weirdcore in general
I remember that as a kid, I experienced a chronic illness flare somehow while listening to the Lavender Town theme and I don't think I've ever cried harder out of pure fear since, I was so convinced I got the syndrome and that it was real and it wasn't actually my disability LMFAO
I actually think it's cute to imagine the Hypno in USUM knowing that the girl was a Zorua and being her guardian of sorts, letting her go to human school while disguised as a person to be happy and have fun among other kids. I'd love to see a scenario of those two scampering off into the forest, only to settle down with some berries and talk about how Zorua's day went.
@@RetroIsaac well that kind of makes sense. With Legends Arceus being one of the first kinds of Pokedexs we see how some information differs from just the past to present. So it would make sense different regions at different times would have different entries for Pokemon depending on region. We see in PLA that there are pokemon who are considered more harsh or deadly in future games but in PLA have entries about how they like people etc. So maybe Hypno's in Alola weren't child thieves like they were in other regions.
@@TheCosmicJester01 Hypno was always one of my favorite Gen1 Pokémon because of both the horror and wholesome aspects it could have in terms of design. Like, yeah, one could be a parental guardian and the other could be something that eats the dreams of children literally, but that goes to show how many different extremes Hypno can fit into thematically.
The really dark thing about the Strange House is that... Darkrai _isn't malicious._ It looks spooky and its powers are dangerous, but its ability, Bad Dreams, which causes the "trapped in a nightmare" thing is an involuntary defence mechanism that it can't control. Darkrai seemingly sequesters itself on Newmoon Island, right next to Cresselia's home on Fullmoon Island, just to keep its power in check. This girl didn't die because a capricious legendary decided to be a dick to her. She died because Darkrai happened to be nearby when she fell asleep.
@@EIDiabeetus Probably because there's a move called Nightmare. In Japan, the move is called "Akumu", the direct translation of the word, while the ability is "Naitomea", basically the English word.
On Missingno.: The red and yellow glitch sprite is actually exclusive to the Yellow Version "normal" form (as in non-Ghost, Aerodactyl or Kabutops). Missingno. and all other glitch Pokemon in the game actually change depending on which Generation 1 game you're playing. Because all the glitch Pokemon are basically unrelated data from other parts of the game being read as Pokemon data, this leads to there being literally *hundreds* of different glitch Pokemon in the Generation 1 games, depending on the Game Version and even which localization you're playing. A fun example I like to give is the Missingno. found in the Japanese Pokemon Blue, which has a base stat total over *1000*
Fun fact! While Buriedalive isn’t really based on anything actually in the game, White Hand is. In Lavender Town, there’s a female NPC you can talk to that asks you if you believe in ghosts. If you say no, she replies, “Teehee! Of course! That white hand on your shoulder; it’s not real!” Naturally, such a line freaked out some players and inspired others, leading to the White Hand rumors and mods.
can confirm that tipping the faceless story guy doesn’t affect the hex maniac ghost but you can only see them once . i’ve played both these games multiple times as they’re my favourites
The "N is a Zoruark theory" really takes me back because when I was really young I used to be such a firm believer in that theory. Like i was so adamant about it LMAO. It may have honestly been the first video game theory/rumor that I discovered and I just... latched onto it lol. Looking back the theory is a little silly, but in my defense I was like 6 lol.
Judging by the fact that the hypno came to pick up the zorua kid, maybe Hypnos are all just stupid and want to be parents but don't get how to go about it. They just see humans with kids and assume they can just take one home and bam that's their child now.
pokemon is probably my biggest special interest since i was a kid, i'm so glad that ur covering niche trivia about it!

@@PeterGriffin11 my mom noticed that my interest in pokemon was really strong, it was all i would talk about, i had a lot of trouble talking and making friends, and i didn’t really understand jokes my peers/teachers told me. those were the main things that got me diagnosed with autism
The Lapras story hit me right in the heart. I've been anxious over the wolf hunting going on in the US and this resonated with me, like, way too much lol
"Lavender Town Syndrome" was the only creepypasta that ever rattled me. Didn't really seek that stuff out on my own, but that one I stumbled across and got quite scared tbh.
It never bothered me, however I was triggered by the ocean parts, I was scared my Pokemon would get tired and die 😭 I was in 3rd grade and my friends swore it was true !
when i was a kid, i remember thinking the lavender town theme was actually a nice song, despite the horror stories, so i pulled it up on youtube to play by itself - i'd only heard it as part of other videos before, like with someone talking over it. my laptop shut itself off partway through the song, and i still don't know why. i was so thoroughly spooked that i never listened to lavender town by itself again. so, maybe i wasn't super gullible, but definitely easily scared lmao
I wonder if it would be less...lethal to a dedicated and loyal trainer. Someone just running into one would be more prone to fear, but if you've fought alongside one for meonths,.you may feel much more comfortable.
Seeing that Ancient Mew card on here was a surprise--I still have mine from when I saw that movie when I was a kid. I'm looking forward to the second part, Pokemon conspiracy theories are fun!
RE: eating pokemon. I scoured every pokedex entry a while back to see what pokemon have parts that can be harvested for food without harming the Mon themselves. Unsurprisingly, most of them are grass types, but one interesting tidbit I found was that Krabby can lose its pincers and grow them back, all without experiencing pain, and the larger claw especially, at least in crabs irl, contains a decent portion of meat. Another fact I liked was that Tropius likes sharing the fruit it grows on its neck with kids :)
The cubone/kangaskhan theory started holding more weight in the fandom once the mechanic of 'calling for help' showed up in wild pokemon battles, i think around sun and moon? because when every other pokemon calls for help, another of its kind shows up. but whenever a cubone calls for help, there's a chance a kangaskhan will show up..
I believe Lt. Surge's dialogue in the Let's Go games removes any mention of war. Also I'm like 90% sure the reason Surge mentions fighting in a war was that he was either supposed to be American or based on American stereotypes (look at any other american character from anime and such and you'll see what I mean). Kinda neat how the 1st gen seemed to still take place in our world, though
Oh yes, he's definitely supposed to be American, I'm pretty sure he's called "the Electric American" in Red/Blue. I think when they made Red / Blue they were thinking of it as "the normal world, except there's pocket monsters." And not until later games did they put in more separation.
In the first gen they hadn't really ironed out the world building of the setting yet, so references to real life animals and events were pretty rampant. I suspect that Lt. Surge was meant to represent a Vietnam war veteran.
Another fun fact: In Japan, the pronunciation of "Arceus" is said with a soft "C" that sounds like an "S", literally making its Japanese name Aruseusu. So why do they intentionally mispronounce it? Because with the UK being, well, the UK, Nintendo and GF didn't want to be seen marketing a Pokémon with a name starting with "Arse".
There’s actually another weird Hypno & children thing in Firered/Leafgreen. As a part of the game addons, there’s a small event where a child is lost on one of the islands. You can then go into a forest to find her, where a Hypno then attacks you both and you can either capture or defeat it. Always found it… very off with the rest of the game.
To be fair, getting attacked by Pokémon is an established part of the setting, and wild Hypno can be encountered in the forest where the child is attacked. On the other hand, definitely weird to have the humanoid antisemitic hypnotist creature trap a small child in the woods and attack the person who came to rescue her. Maybe Jinx isn’t the only Pokémon that should’ve been censored
What's interesting about the N being a Zoroark theory is that it has actually been disproven in a short Pokemon series. The whole story with him not wanting humans and Pokemon together was because he and his father saved an abused Pokemon and he wondered why people were so cruel or something like that. Genuinely quite interesting and fits for a dark Pokemon theory on how Pokemon can be abused
In the anime he rescues ill treated pokemon as well, and that's what fueled his decision of pokemon and humans never being able to get along without hurting each other..he changes his mind after meeting ash however as ash treats his pokemon so well (similar to the games where the player character kinda changes N's mind by treating their pokemon with such love N cannot refuse anymore than sometimes people and pokemon can be together)
i feel SO embarrassed for being scared of the lavender town theme as a kid. i barely believed things like that and knew its all fake but still was terrified to listen to it fully
About the Hypno Theory -- In fire red and leaf green there is a questline on one of the isles where you litterally save a child from being kidnapped by a hypno, so that isn't as much a theory anymore as a straight up canon event in the games
The Hypno thing is no theory even the anime had an episode dedicated to this idea. in the episode ash and crew enter a city only to be confronted by a woman who believes ash is her lost son. the gang eventually figure out whats going on and reunite the kids with their parents
Also a Drowzee kidnaps an Azuril in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Sky, Time and Darkness. One of your first missions in those games is to rescue Azuril and confront Drowzee.
@@eltrainmaroon1352 Yeah, but that wasn't on purpose. The sleep waves put out by Drowzee and Hypno to help the rich people sleep were somehow reaching kids and hypnotizing them into running off thinking they're Pokemon. It's a weird episode that makes next to no sense.
Correction, Lostelle was not kidnapped, she was, as her name so subtly implies, lost. She went out to do her usual berry picking, got lost, and encountered a Hypno right as you found her.
@@ElFreakinCid Yes you are correct that ash and crew are told that it is a misunderstanding.Sadly pokedex entries paint a different story.some entries are tame like how good dreams are tastier than bad ones or how eaten dreams are forgotten.others state that the dreams of children are the tastiest.pair this with the fact that the rich old insomniacs never called the cops.also how did the cops not find these kids before ash and crew
And yet that fact is so common in the Pokemon media just like the newer games acknowledging people are Pokemon and can marry them so it's not zoophilia.
@@Topdoggie7 I think its the fact that more humanoid pokemon can be married, but not more animal like ones or stupid ones like magikarp. Most of the ones in the past were mentioned to be more humanoid and its likley that over time there was less humanoid pokemon so people stopped marrying them. But humanoid pokemon were the ones people married because they were more human like- so yes- you could marry a gardevoir
@@whiile1239 I mean, all Pokemon are sentient creatures able to communicate and consent. Psychic types are obviously more so, but most ghost types WERE human before they were ghosts too, soooo.
@@ElFreakinCid It's a here or there thing. The mangas do, and the old book says "people and Pokemon didn't used to be different" and basically multiple medias say that once human and Pokemon was the same thing. So correction on my phrasing. People WERE Pokemon.
Izzy: "before we get into things I just wanna give a huge thank you to..." Me: *"please be casetify please be casetify please be casetify-"* Izzy: "...Casetify for sponsoring this video." Me: *"heheh, I get to see her throw her phone at the wall"*
I always figured the Creepy Hypno thing was a reference to the anime when its Hypnosis inadvertently caused kids, including Misty, to run away thinking they were Pokemon. Also, the mysterious Hex Maniac is probably the ONLY one of these things in the games that I discovered on my own & I couldn't be prouder that she's gained this much fame in the fandom.👻💜
God I remember finding a shiny before I really knew anything about the internet. In my first Pokémon game, Pokémon Pearl, I spent a ridiculous amount of time fishing on Route 218, and what’s worse was I caught almost every Pokémon I came across. It eventually paid off because I randomly encountered a shiny Magikarp. I wasn’t 100% sure about what exactly a shiny was because I’d only ever seen a couple before - those being the Red Gyarados from the Lake of Rage (my older brother had HeartGold) and a shiny Buizel my younger brother had caught earlier that year… which just so happened to also be gold. I ended up arguing with my brothers over whether it would evolve into a red Gyarados or a gold Gyarados, which honestly was kinda fun. A gold Gyarados would’ve been pretty cool! When I did eventually evolve it and it turned out to be red, me, being incredibly creative with names, decided to nickname it “REDGYARADOS”
Sloght correction on missingno: so the index for pokemon goes up to 255, but the data stops at 151. The remaining slots are reading "junk" data in the form of other code, images and data from the ROM
Also some corrections: red & yellow sprite is exclusive to Yellow. And there are tons of Missingno forms based on which localization you use of either Red/Blue or Yellow
I've been waiting for another iceberg video since the Garfield one. Izzzyzzz always delivers nothing but immaculate content ✨

I had an M glitch kangaskan as a kid! The best part was you could teach the M form Fly and it usually naturally had Sky Attack filling up two attack slots. So if you evolved it, you'd have a kangaskan that knew fly. I put mine into Pokemon Stadium to see what would happen. You haven't lived until you see kangaskan dramatically float up into the air and "stand" up there gyrating. xD
I honestly love the green shinies, but only if it's a stark contrast between their original (and pre-evultions original) colors. Tangela and Espeon are some of my favourites.
honestly i find it really helpful when u put cw or tw, as someone with paranoia yet love for scary things, i know to be prepared and skip possible screamers or graphic pictures.
I personally never found the whole "people eat pokemon??? How could they they're so cute D:" cause like it's just like that with irl animals? People will like and retweet a tweet of a cow with a caption of "Cows are just big doggos" then eat a steak
What’s kinda grim about it in my mind is that every pokemon seems to be at least as intelligent as a dog, with some being smarter than humans. It’s not cannibalism, but it still feels wrong to kill creatures that are so close to a human level of intelligence. A moral objection isn’t the same thing as the idea being scary or shocking, though.
@@sideways5153 I'm sorry to have to break it to you... but pigs are more intelligent than dogs according to recent scientific findings, going as far as being able to perform a number of cognitive tasks generally reserved for highly intelligent beings such as dolphins and even chimpanzees. Cows are far from stupid as well... for example, they can follow sounds through a maze in order to locate food and can efficiently be trained in a variety of tasks. These animals also display the ability to recognize human emotions to varying degrees! I get what you mean but this level of hypocrisy can definitely be observed in the real world. Intelligence barely matters when it comes to deciding on which animals we tend to view as food, which ones we see as entertainment, which ones we see as friends, or even family members - cultural norms are the greatest deciding factor.
@@misscoololo6667 All animals are pretty smart, actually. At the very least, smarter than most give them credit for. You just have to learn to "speak their language" basically. As time goes on we'll regret eating them more and more as we learn about them. It wasn't that long ago that scientists were doing experiments to prove whether or not dogs could even feel pain. Humans are way more intellectually stunted than they could be just because they have this nasty habit of believing they're right all the time.
@@J_Lynn I'm with you there, don't worry. I need to phrase things carefully and thereby focus only on certain aspects of this debacle as to not overwhelm certain people... Speaking from experience, many tend to block you out as soon as you go anywhere close to pointing out that animal abuse - the kind which doesn't affect pets or popular zoo animals - might be bad, actually. Keep on fighting the good fight!
For the last entry, psychic’s weakness to dark type isn’t just being afraid of the dark, it is also the psychic types inability to read or understand sneaky or underhanded battle tactics/ general evil doing. This is also why fighting types are strong against dark. A seasoned fighter won’t fall for such tricks.
I'm glad you mentioned pikablue. There were a lot of things you covered that I remember. I used to have a binder full of foil cards. It wasn't mine, I got it while working at a goodwill. All really rare cards, perfect condition, multiple copies. Would've been worth so much, even before Pokémon go came out. I thought Pokémon had died out, so I just threw them away. I have no idea how much I could've gotten for them. Last time I checked, charizards are still $100. There were a few in the binder. I think it was complete up to the third series. Owell. Every video you do is so detailed. Thanks for all your hard work. I would have forgotten about these crazy stories. Your videos are awesome.
Funny story about shinies. My first shiny Pokémon was an electrike in emerald. When I saw it I thought the game gave me a custom one because blue was and still is my favorite color. And now that I know that it was 1/8000 chance I’m really glad I caught it
Unless I'm remembering wrong, white hand definitely had more basis in the game than buried alive :0 - there's an NPC in lavender town that makes a comment about there being a ghostly white hand on the player's shoulder that freaked a lot of people out. I think they also referenced it in the origins spinoff anime unless that was just old youtube videos armed with photoshop and a cartoon hand png successfully tricking my younger self lmao
The NPC is also in Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee. If I remember correctly, there's a quick fade-to-black, them the NPC disappears, but I've not played Let's Go since release, I don't remember
The best part of the Galar fossils is that they reference early paleontology and how people kept putting together fossils that didn't fit together. Very early interpretations of iguanodon had it's iconic thumb spike on it's nose, for example. It's such a cool detail.

I've been a fan of your videos for quite some time, and as much as I love them, I was wondering if you would consider adding captions? If your videos are scripted, adding captions with RUclips's built in caption editor wouldn't take too long, and captions would open your videos up to a whole new audience, as well as continuing to normalize accessibility features that often go unused. Just something to think about in the future?
I used the Missingno. glitch maaany times. To the point where one day, as I was swimming up and down the side of cinnober(?) isle, instead of a wild glitched pokemon the gym leader of that island suddenly appeared and engaged me in combat with 6 missingno.s on his team. I would have beat him (having a number of glitched pokemon above level 100) but the game froze. Also we used to call Glitch Town Sunny Town. It was a challenge to see how far you could go without becoming stuck. I only made it to the other side of the southern border of the world once.
I was told about the Lavender Town music myth on the primary school yard and pretty much believed it too. Sometimes, when we were playing outside, one of my friends would open the music on his phone and play it and we would just run away from him or scream over the music so we couldn't hear it. You're definitely not alone.
Hardly mind-blowing, but a fun bit of support re: Pokemon eat each other - In the New Pokemon Snap, in the underwater levels, you see some frillish dragging some magikarp down into the abyss. They gotta eat too!
23:23 I remember this !!! My 12 yr old brain at the time was too stupid to realise the man telling the scary story and the ghost were related at all but I remember, after he asked for the tip I definitely either refused or, if there was a choice for how much you could tip, I gave him the smallest option. I then got that exact scene with the ghost (quite some time later as I explored a lot more in-between,) and when I tell you it left me traumatised-💀💀 I was srsly so shocked that it even left as quickly as it came and spent so long trying to understand what that whole thing was even for

Thank you for these videos, they're such a nostalgic ride. I remember watching sooo many pokemon creepypastas back in the late 2000's/early 2010's. I would watch videos from people like TheJWittz and Tamashi Hiroka all the time. A couple friends of mine and I even dipped our toes into romhacking after playing a couple of the more popular creepypasta romhacks.
I remember horribly misinterpreting the Strange House event when I was younger. Somehow I got it into my head that the girl was cursed to die from cresselia rather than Darkrai. I guess the idea I had was that cresselia was angry that her feather was taken without permission and cursed the girl in retaliation. And that girl asked you to return the feather to ask for forgiveness.
I love the "Evil, satanic, fantastical settings, magic... and EVOLUTION" like my god nothing would trigger some people more than the theory of evolution
I remember hearing that stuff from bible thumpers but also crap from scientific communities about how "that not how evolution works, you're making kids dumb"
I can kinda get it? Like if someone wrote a fantasy novel featuring hot little girls I'd be more against it. Fantasy is fantasy bur there is a line and for them it's evolution
As a Christian, this literally makes me die of laughter. I can understand where some are coming from, but it's not supposed to be indoctrinating kids. And plus, as i was able to study evolution and how it's false, the pokemon is still the pokemon (basically). It isn't going from a Charmander to a Blastoise. Plus, enjoying fantasy magic is fine with some limits. Other Christians, please please relax 😩
The "satanic" pokemon thing is one of my childhood traumas. I had so many cute pokemon stuff includin a big pikachu plushie back when the very first generation came out, but there was this satanic pokemon thing going around all the news and my mom kinda getting religious at that time decided to give that all away. I never tried to get back into pokemon or any other thing really. Dang, i might need a therapist.
It also almost spoiled Pokemon for me. As a Christian, and as a person who gets easily instrusive thoughts my brain just went into a "But what if..." mode, even though I understood it was utter nonsense and that Pokemon is just a normal anime franchise.

Buried alive was definitely the one that scared me the most. Even at the ripe age of 14, I was haunted by that "Game Over" sprite and semi-convinced it would spring at me in the darkness...
i love how darkrai was shown to be a bad guy in the games stories, but if you read it's pokedex entry, you'll find out that they never meant to cause harm, and that they can't control their powers. this is why darkrai hides themself in a secluded island called newmoon island, so that they dont bring harm to others. or maybe im just saying this bc im biased since the darkrai movie is what got me into pokemon when i was little. darkrai will always be my number one hero lmao
I'd love if pokemon would animate a special where some wild Pokemon realized that darkrai can't be around weak pokemon and humans, so they gathered a bunch of dark types to become friends with him and bring him food to newmoon Island. i can fucking guarantee that'll get people emotional.
Honestly, I'm fine with multi-part videos as long as you do them sequentially. It drives me nuts when someone posts part 1 of something, then does 5 other videos, THEN does part 2. If they're in order though, I'm always down with multi-part stuff.
I'm fine either way as long as they do part 2 within a reasonable amount of time. Taking years to do part 2 or not doing it at all is a problem with some RUclipsrs.
When me and my brother were younger, he thought the Lavender Town Syndrome was real and decided to tell our mom and straight up almost got us banned from playing Pokemon -_-
On the hex maniac ghost - It's been a long time since I last played X/Y, but I seem to remember another hex maniac trainer in a nearby building that you could talk to and she'd say something like "be quiet... i can't hear... the elevator..." so I always assumed she was like astral projecting or something lol.
I was a creepypasta kid and pokemon creepypastas were my absolute favourite. They are what got me into early pokemon games and then eventually into retro gaming and consoles. Will be forever grateful for the lavender town theories 💜💜
Small correction! The canonical name of the rival for Pokemon red and blue isn’t Gary. As shown by his appearance in the Gen 7 games, his name is Blue. “Blue’s Raticate” is also the more commonly accepted name of the theory.
*Blue internationally. His name is green in japan, and likewise - the cut female protagonist was named blue in japan and changed to green in the international releases of the let's go - which added her back into canon.
I'm proud of myself for knowing all of these. I also remember hacking my red game back in the day with a game shark so I could get a 'pikablu'. I also remember getting in a huge debate with other kids on the playground about whether it was actually named Pikablu or Marill after the first movie came out. Good times.
I don't know if it's ever been a confirmed thing but I always thought, as it was a fossil and you end up resurrecting it, that Kabutops is an ancestor to Scyther.
I actually always really liked the Lavender Town theme so when the creepy pastas started circulating I was a little surprised, but it made me like it anymore. That was probably the peak of my "I like spooky things because I'm edgy" phase haha
I heard about the Spaceworld demo sprites a while back, but this video prompted me to finally check them all out, and I am in love with old Murkrow’s cute little witch’s hat. It’s also interesting to see that Houndour and Houndoom are among the few whose designs really didn’t change at all. And I’m glad that Suicune’s design was changed.

I was 7 when R/B came out and can give some info on the era, there weren't really any schoolyard myths or really anything particular about Lavender Town, the creepypasta-ification of there and most of Pokemon was definitely a mid-late 00's thing. Not even Missingno, we did use it but it wasn't considered creepy, just funny and interesting. The talk between kids back then (I have no idea how this stuff spread across schools since the internet was babby in 1998) were Pikablu, Mew under the truck, and a garden behind Bill's house that contained the previous two as well as all the starters.
Goddamn I fell whole heartedly into spinda collecting. I was sure that If I caught enough of them I’d get doubles. I made myself sick and filled up several pokemon boxes of spinda instead.
A quick note about the mega evolution part, all of the Pokédex entries saying that mega evolution hurts the Pokémon come from sun and moon and their ultra rereleases. Some have theorized that this means those Pokédex entires are actually a misrepresentation of mega evolution as a result if either side effects of putting a mega stone into a Z-ring (the thing that lets you perform the games Z-move mechanic) or just simple regional bias against mega evolution.
5:12 I remember one time I went to a small Christian camp and we were doing a soccer thing and one of the kids was playing with his dad and the dad said "pocket monsters, obviously demons" and that moment still lives in my head rent free to this day

Side note, Arctozolt is top-tier and I luv him
Mhm! they were based after the great Bone Wars
Dracovish is actually a direct reference to the earliest Plesiosaur reconstruction, as the scientist who reconstructed it specialized in herptology (study of reptiles) and accidentally placed the head where the tail should be (as lizards usually have longer tails and short, stubby necks)
And with the early days of paleontology being in the United Kingdom it's only natural for the rest of the world to have normal fossil pokemon
This is also why Arctovish’s jaw is on the top of its skull; the Dunkleosteus that it’s based on has a hole near the top of its skull, which could be misconstrued as a “mouth.” The skull could have been rotated improperly for this reason.
That’s pretty funny
It's Laventon recording a local rumor (He even directly states it IS a rumor) but later professors/academics just... cut that part out and treated it like a fact.
@@RuinedSilver Exactly! It's a really fresh and interesting way to look at the Dex

If by dumb you mean 'Rad as hell', then yes.
My school did the exact same thing lmao, I was gonna ask if we went to the same school until you mentioned it being a boarding school
That is... so disappointing. My Catholic school used Pokemon as a whole way to preach to us. "Ash and Pikachu trust in you, just like you should trust in Jesus. Just like Ash and Pikachu work together, you need to work together to do good things and help each other." They weren't cool with us stealing Pokemon cards from each other because "Stealing is sinful and stealing Pokemon is bad."
I swear they could make anything Jesus-approved.
We had a system of lookouts in case any of the older teachers came sniffing around (which they often were? for some reason?), and could clear a table of Pokémon cards in less than 3 seconds.
hell yeah. fight the system. blaspheme
All of this leads me to believe that :
-A region based on India exist and os likely going to be the region for the next generation and if not we're going to see it at some point
-Brittish colonialism exist in the Pokemon universe, meaning that region have actual government wich we never really see in any of the pokemon games
If Galarian colonialism happened as a parallel to real life, then Alola (Hawaii) was already one of the targets of Galar. Makes you wonder how they're gonna incorporate that into the lore in the occasion we revisit Alola someday.
The Kanto games had a model of Space Shuttle Colombia in the Pewter Mueseum, and diaries in Cinnabar Mansion stated that Mew was found in South America
So the Pokemon world was originally part of the real world but that got completely gutted later.
As for that, Its because Rose seems to be from indian decent and a tie to his bussinessman and industrialization theme, not because of some crypic social commentary in regards to the indian colonies
Take for example how his brother (who is a heroic figure) Peony also has a Copperajah
oh my god i never noticed that.

This is all rather tame, and is similar to how VR headsets give some people motion sickness.
thats interesting!! also love ur vids :)
Ya I'm autistic and the lavender town music didn't effect me. the Pokémon tower music made my ears hurt though
Favourite creators cross over
a ton of neurodivergencies don't include noise sensitivity? nd doesn't just mean adhd and autism. if you mean those, just say that
The fact that Pokemon actually caused mass hysteria is so wild. I remember all of these things. What a legendary series, imagine being one of the people who created it...? The impact it's had on the world just blows my mind.

That one picture of ash lying in a hospital bed and the other picture of a creepy looking hypno will forever be etched into my mind. Honorable mention: that one jigglypuff picture with the red eyes. You know the one.

Nice!
I got a random shiny Whimsur and thought it was just holding some kind of item, and defeated it…yikes…
My first shiny was a Wingull in Pokémon X & Y
Swarm battles really were something
Mine was a Nidoran male... I played a lot of rpg games growing up so when I found one in silver I thought because it was a different colour it would give me more exp. 💀
I also took a sunkern to the elite 4 (I didn't know how to evolve it lol) so I definitely wasn't the smartest kid when it came to pokemon lol.
Turns out my childhood friends didn't feel the same way 😅
Same here tbh
Wtf is wrong with you
I used to be the same!
Ah the blissful peace of mind of children
I actually think it's cute to imagine the Hypno in USUM knowing that the girl was a Zorua and being her guardian of sorts, letting her go to human school while disguised as a person to be happy and have fun among other kids.
I'd love to see a scenario of those two scampering off into the forest, only to settle down with some berries and talk about how Zorua's day went.
Funnily enough, the pokedex entry in the sun and moon games for hypno is a lot more positive, helping people with sleeping problems.
Hypno: so how did your day go?
Zorua: we learned the alphabet!
Hypno: really? That's amazing
…Did any of you guys play Fire Red/Leaf Green? Because a Hypno really does straight-up kidnap a child in that game. It’s genuinely creepy.
In the Japanese version it is straight up called "Nightmare" (ナイトメア), the English word. Odd that they felt the need to tone it down.
@@EIDiabeetus Probably because there's a move called Nightmare. In Japan, the move is called "Akumu", the direct translation of the word, while the ability is "Naitomea", basically the English word.
MatPat actually did a great video about this one that I definitely recommend
Of course! That white hand on your shoulder; it’s not real!”
Naturally, such a line freaked out some players and inspired others, leading to the White Hand rumors and mods.
can confirm that tipping the faceless story guy doesn’t affect the hex maniac ghost but you can only see them once . i’ve played both these games multiple times as they’re my favourites
It's a cool idea ngl
I'd love to know how he convinced that other Zoroark to get in a pokeball for his final battle lol
Judging by the fact that the hypno came to pick up the zorua kid, maybe Hypnos are all just stupid and want to be parents but don't get how to go about it. They just see humans with kids and assume they can just take one home and bam that's their child now.
I mean, that's how you get Pokemon right? Lol
New theory that N IS actually a Zoruark that was picked up and raised in the woods by a Hypno as a young Zorua
Oh no you made it cute, how dare you. _How dare you._
It's still weird to be fair. Like imagine just a guy saying "I didn't kidnap a child, I simply wanted to be their dad."

@@goldegreen I think, like pretty much every Pokedex entry, especially in Sun and Moon, it's pretty much a load of nonsense.
In the anime for Sun and Moon one of the running gags was Meowth seeing what Mimikyu looks like and passing out.
Seeing that Ancient Mew card on here was a surprise--I still have mine from when I saw that movie when I was a kid.
I'm looking forward to the second part, Pokemon conspiracy theories are fun!
I still have mine as well.
Me too!
Also a canceled sprite shows marowak with a pouch and a cubone in it which looks similar to kangaskhan
@@MmMm-sf7pe right lol I forgot he's literally labeled "the lightning American"
In the first gen they hadn't really ironed out the world building of the setting yet, so references to real life animals and events were pretty rampant. I suspect that Lt. Surge was meant to represent a Vietnam war veteran.
Uyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu7uuuuuuuuu77uu7uuuuyyyr675
@@kateb6699 Fire Red, Leaf Green and I think HGSS call him "The Lightning American" too.
Another fun fact: In Japan, the pronunciation of "Arceus" is said with a soft "C" that sounds like an "S", literally making its Japanese name Aruseusu. So why do they intentionally mispronounce it? Because with the UK being, well, the UK, Nintendo and GF didn't want to be seen marketing a Pokémon with a name starting with "Arse".
the hard c version even makes more sense imo, sounding similar to arcane or the "arch" affix for ruler
In the official English dub of the movie they pronounce it 3 different ways

There’s actually another weird Hypno & children thing in Firered/Leafgreen.
As a part of the game addons, there’s a small event where a child is lost on one of the islands. You can then go into a forest to find her, where a Hypno then attacks you both and you can either capture or defeat it. Always found it… very off with the rest of the game.
Oh yeah, the Hypno creepypasta is very popular. It even got a mod in Friday Night Funkin!
@@DrawciaGleam02 To be fair, what *doesn't* have a FNF mod at this point?
To be fair, getting attacked by Pokémon is an established part of the setting, and wild Hypno can be encountered in the forest where the child is attacked.
On the other hand, definitely weird to have the humanoid antisemitic hypnotist creature trap a small child in the woods and attack the person who came to rescue her. Maybe Jinx isn’t the only Pokémon that should’ve been censored
@@sideways5153 he isn't antisemitic

@@ElFreakinCid Yes you are correct that ash and crew are told that it is a misunderstanding.Sadly pokedex entries paint a different story.some entries are tame like how good dreams are tastier than bad ones or how eaten dreams are forgotten.others state that the dreams of children are the tastiest.pair this with the fact that the rich old insomniacs never called the cops.also how did the cops not find these kids before ash and crew
i think why the pokemon eating eachother fact was so disturbing was the mystery dungeon series. it would be similar to a zootopia situation.
@@Topdoggie7 It never once said "people are Pokemon".

So cute
Should have named it... Gyaredos.
My First shiny i have Seen was a shiny butterfree. I restarted my Gameboy cause i thought it was a bug and didnt wanted to damage my silver edition 😅

Keep on fighting the good fight!
honestly!
Nah, the hand was indeed in the Origins anime
The NPC is also in Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee. If I remember correctly, there's a quick fade-to-black, them the NPC disappears, but I've not played Let's Go since release, I don't remember
oh thank god, im glad that i wasn't imagining it LOL. i remember the npc + origins anime. I'm surprised that it wasn't mentioned!

That and the dubious idea that it replaced Animaniacs on the KidsWB lineup, which is probably not true but I carried that grudge for *years* all the same.
Pokemon also had the satanic panic with it too. Kids were forced to cut up Pokemon cards because parents thought the had demons in them!
@@DrawciaGleam02 I guess that’s partially why something similar didn’t happen with Gundam Wing which would’ve been airing around the same time
Seriously can everybody in that show turn their computer monitor’s brightness down
You have it set to like LED headlights levels of blinding
I vaguely recall:
- The massive war against Dungeons & Dragons that was waged and lost with D&D still going strong.
- The "video games are making kids violent" parental mob from the Parliament that wanted to ban ALL "kids" games they felt were inappropriate (no joke).
- The churches that condemned Harry Potter as Satanism.
However, NOTHING is scarier than hearing a Furby yell out at you from the darkness while you lie in your bed.
Especially if you don't own a furby....😉
thank you for not showing the flashing. I was scrambling to cover my screen when the censored bit came up. some channels, even major ones that should 100% know better, will show the unedited footage without so much as a TW. being photosensitive, I'm relieved the only thing that flashed before my eyes this time was my life 💀
also, just because it's not epilepsy doesn't mean it's hysteria. those of us with other debilitating ailments like migraines with aura get that a lot.
I have a shiny spinda, I remember finding it and being like no way.
I makes me happy to feel I have a complete unique pokemon.
This pls!!!! Ive got issues concentrating on videos with purely audio & captions would help a lot :D
Seconding this!!
Yeah, it’s kind of silly how some youtubers don’t immediately think to make their content free for everyone to view.
I hope she sees this, im glad someone brought this up :)
The auto caption isn't as good.
I then got that exact scene with the ghost (quite some time later as I explored a lot more in-between,) and when I tell you it left me traumatised-💀💀 I was srsly so shocked that it even left as quickly as it came and spent so long trying to understand what that whole thing was even for
Right?! It doesn’t look as creepy in the video but walking into that office room as a kid not expecting anything special to happen was so scary. I think I almost started crying when it happened to me back then lmao
the whole aesthetic of your channel reminds me a lot of CandyEvie! she still does pokemon content and streams on twitch now but i remember watching her top 10 videos when i was in my pokemon phase a while back
iceberg videos are always so interesting, i rly love them

the theory about wally dying was painful when i first heard it, because i loved wally as a kid (platonically) and still do.
damn, my lvoe for him got even more when i was getting more sickly at one point, hes just a big part of my childhood
And that girl asked you to return the feather to ask for forgiveness.
honestly that's more interesting
Why do i want to use this as a fanfic/pokemon oc idea
I love the "Evil, satanic, fantastical settings, magic... and EVOLUTION"
like my god nothing would trigger some people more than the theory of evolution
My dad literally refused to go into a museum exhibit about human evolution lol
@@cloudywillowshome evolution isn't false. Unless you mean the way pokemon evolve which is not how real evolution occurs
@@aino-kaisav5504 im sorry that kind of thing feeds into your intrusive thoughts, I'm pretty weak willed and paranoid of a person and im always worried I'll get caught up in the dillusional ideas of xenophobic weirdos constantly coming up on my feed, not to say thats what christianity is of course its unrelated but ive heard of them saying quite frightening things will happen if you indulge in sinful acts like uh.. rock music and pokemon 😅 i can understand why it would frighten you
What does you mom think of Pokémon now?
i had to sit my mom down and have a talk about how no, the pokemon are not demons. i think she read something about yokai watch and it got jumbled with pokemon so she thought the mons were all "spirits" or whatever. i had to be like "dude. look at this pikachu. it's literally just a silly looking mouse with electricity." she's cool with it now and she doesn't need to know about how many pokemon are dubious at best-
@@aino-kaisav5504 man the "what if" mode is the worst. it's like you can't trust your own mind with anything
I must say: Your voice is super nice to listen to, these kinda videos are perfect for your voice! and it's calm, rather than super energetic and it just fits these types of videos
I remember being a child and "Lavender Town" was the spookiest thing. Playground ghost stories were always about it lol
Bless you for this, Izzzyzzz! My gf is new to pokemon, and I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how to get her caught up on 20+ years of lore.
She actually enjoys your longer videos, so this is exactly what we've been needing! You are a sweet Georgia peach of a person and we appreciate your contributions to the platform! ❤
Was literally just watching a spooky SM64 iceberg thinking, "shit I need more of these"

The sniper rifle ascii next to the nudes ad is fucking murdering me hahaha.

Once when I was a kid my older sibling wanted to scare me with the Lavender Town music because I too was terrified of it, and just by coincidence when the song started we found 2 spiders in their room, which scared BOTH of us. So I always kinda had the spider association with the song too
This makes me want to go on a Pokepasta binge. I used to love these as a teenager. Pokemon and horror, my two favourite things.
23:15 - tipping the man doesn't affect whether you see the hex maniac ghost or not. I distinctly remember tipping him because I felt bad for him and I saw the hex maniac ghost afterwards anyway.
I remember refusing to watch Pokemon's first season for the only reason of Hypno (possibly) appearing
Like, the channel that Pokemon aired on was the default when booting up the TV, so I'd simply wait until someone else did
Later on I found out Hypnos don't actually kidnap children bc they're the p word, but because they feed off of dreams and children's are way "tastier" because of their imagination and stuff
I felt dumb when I figured out I spent years scared of turning on the TV out of a weird ass theory lmao
Oogity boogity
There was an entire episode of a hypno kidnapping children..and just making them act like pokemon? It was really weird but hypnos are not the P word for sure! They don't kidnapp children for any kind of ill intent besides snacking on some dreams
"Shinies such as Kommo-o are considered ugly" slander of the highest degree, my sweet lemonade friend

I actually remember attempting the Hex Maniac easter egg as a kid when the game first came out and I didn't even know about the tipping thing, but it still worked! Real creepy, but also looking back at gameplay footage I thought the 3D models were way more defined, but it seems like my child brain filled in the gaps.
when youre a kid you find hex maniac on pokemon x/y
when youre an adult you find hex maniac on incognito mode
I don't have a good "shiny before the internet" story, but I remember my Typhlosion and Jolteon getting pokerus in my Silver game and being genuinely terrified that they were going to die
The talk between kids back then (I have no idea how this stuff spread across schools since the internet was babby in 1998) were Pikablu, Mew under the truck, and a garden behind Bill's house that contained the previous two as well as all the starters.
i was hyperfixated on pokemon for years and it's coming back again lately so this video came at the perfect time for me, love your videos!!
