Sunday Sabbath?

  • Why do we have a Sunday Sabbath?
If the Sabbath in the Old Testament is the seventh day, why do Catholics rest and worship on Sunday, the 1st (or "8th" day) of the week?
Are Christians in general and Catholics specifically breaking the Ten Commandments? If we can seemingly change the adherence to the Ten Commandments with a Sunday Sabbath, why not other ones of the ten commandments?
What does the resurrection and the new creation have to tell us about why the new Sabbath of the new covenant is now celebrated on Sunday?
In this video, Dr. Brant Pitre explains what Jesus' Resurrection and the New Creation have to do with this mysterious difficulty.

Just want to share a little concerning Catholics who chose to not attend mass on Sunday. I was watching a video by Fr. Mike Schmitz and he said something that really caught my attention. He said he was talking to a Protestant Pastor who didn't agree on the transubstantiation of the Eucharist, and this Pastor said if he was Catholic and truly believed that the Eucharist is transformed into the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of God during Mass, then he'll do anything to be present at Mass even if it meant crawling on broken bottles. Most at times we Catholics fail to appreciate the many graces that we receive from God through the Mass. Sometimes I do miss Mass on Sunday, and when I do I acknowledge the fact that I have failed to participate in the greatest celebration of the week. I wake up early for work, I'm always on time when it comes to stuff related to my career, education or money. But when it's mass I usually have one or two reasons why I'm late or why I failed to attend. That is the devil fighting against my Salvation, and if I am foolish enough to think that it's okay to miss Mass, then I'm not ready to walk with the saints when they go marching in. Love

Great witnessing to Catholics. The problem with us, is that we have lost our reverence towards God. Vatican II and its ambiguity has watered down the true meaning of the mass. The smoke of Satan has entered the Church. - Pope Paul VI

All days are equally sacred and this is illustrated in the seven candle temple menorah. The center candle, which represents the sun, is the first to be lit. The second candle lit represents Saturn and Saturday. Note where Jesus is id as the lamp in the midst of seven lamps which represents the sun, moon, and five nearest planets. Sabbath is the period the earth rests from crop production, typically this is the period from the fall equinox to the spring equnox. Sabbath also contains the names Saturn and daughter. Bath, the daughter, can also be writter as Bat. Bathsheba = daughter plus seven. This seven is Libra where Saturn is ruled by Venus. The six days/months of creation begin at the spring equinox and end at th fall equinox (Aries thru Virgo). To swear, or to seven, refers to seven constellations and the seven "planetary" spheres.

Out of love I’m encouraging you to go to God about this. Jesus never changed the Sabbath to the resurrection day. You won’t find that in the Bible anywhere
Jesus worshiped on 7th day Sabbath. The Bible shows that the apostles worshiped in the 7th day Sabbath, Paul preached to the Jews and gentiles on the 7th day sabbath.
God never made his resurrection day a holy day to make as a Sabbath. He never changed it. It’s not in the Bible.
The Catholic csthecism is a man made book. God stresses do NOT follow after. The traditions of men. Follow God and God Alone. No one had the authority to change Gods Words or Sabbath day.
Celebrate the resurrection, sure, but did he say make it the Sabbath no? The Catholic Church has changed everything in the Bible, the 10 commandments, the Lord’s Prayer, making graven images they took out because there are graven images. Jesus is our high priests we don’t need priests anymore.
The Bible says that in the last days beast power that will make war with the saints that KEEP the COMMANDMENTS is one that Exalts himself above God and changes times and laws.
Revelation says come out of Her (the church) come out of the church that peaches non biblical teachings.
If you don’t listen now, I promise you in the very near future they, will become a political power again like back in the Roman days, they will force their religious ideas on people one being worship on Sunday (the counterfeit Sabbath day) and those who don’t won’t be able to buy or sell. Revelation said this will happen as this video is proof that we are living in those prophetic times. The stage is being set.
Please if you love God ask him to show you the truth. Don’t listen to me, your pastor, your priest, RUclips video, search for truth and go to the source. JESUS.

@Michel Martinez can you show us pls when did the Sunday became the day of worship? What Jesus commanded His disciples was it not to teach them the truth which shall make them free (math 28:19-20 KJV) ... It should be noted that there's nothing wrong with the sabbath since it was the day of creation but there's something wrong with the Sunday which is the mark of authority to overthrow the Biblical teachings yet God is still calling to fear Him and give glory to Him (rev 14:6-7)... Please be humble and be truthful... Maranatha.

    • @jt2097
      @jt2097 4 года назад +2

@Michel Martinez yes, Jesus based His church on Peter, the rock, but afterwards, in Mark 8:33 He rebuked Peter and said "Get thee behind me satan for you don't savour the things of God but the things that are of men.
Jesus knew that Peter and his church would reject the commandments of God and follow the doctrine of men.
This is reinforced in Matthew 15:9 In vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men.
Nowhere did Jesus change the Sabbath. It was changed by men for convenience. Sun worshippers, Greek and Roman worshipped on the day of the sun and the Romans linked Christians to the Jews, the enemy of the Romans for keeping the Sabbath. It was much easier falling in with the pagans rather than to stand strong for God.
Even in heaven they will keep the Sabbath. In Isaiah 66:23. God says,
And it shall come to pass that from one new moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me says the Lord.
      Is that fairly clear?

Having been raised Seventh-day Adventists (who became Catholic), I would give you a few suggestions about your verbiage on this. First of all, Adventists need to understand that for Catholics, Sunday is not technically the fulfillment of the weekly Jewish sabbath of the Ten Commandments. This is a VERY important point when you discuss this with Adventists. For Catholics, Sunday is not a "sabbath" as Israel would have understood it. Early Church fathers never called Sunday a sabbath. In fact, many areas of Christianity in the first few centuries kept the sabbath rest AND attended church on Sunday. So they did not see Sunday as the new Sabbath. Even popes disagreed through the centuries about whether the "Lord's Day" was technically a sabbath for Catholics. But there was no definitive decision by the Church.
Catholics do not treat the first day of the week with the legal restrictions of the Hebrew sabbath. And we don't have a Sunday Sabbath--just without the legalism--we simply do not have a Sabbath.
However the Lord's Day does have similarities to the Hebrew sabbath. IF, as Pope John Paul wrote in his encyclical Dies Domini, IF Sunday is a "sabbath" it fulfills the high annual Passover sabbath rather than the weekly one. This is more or less Sunday's equivalent, rather than the weekly sabbath.
While I know your audience is Catholic and may not understand the importance of this nuance, if they ever speak about it to an Adventist the point will be VERY important. Adventist believe that the church officially changed the seventh day sabbath to the first day sabbath. While I understand they COULD legitimately have done this, you cannot bring that up to Adventists. That will embed their suspicions of Catholicism. Adventists need to hear from Catholics that Sunday is NOT a sabbath to Catholics. Never has been, never will be one. Jesus FULFILLED the weekly sabbath.
Point two that is MORE important when speaking to Adventists.
The Sabbath commandment (which for Adventists is the 4th commandment--they follow the Protestant numbering of the Ten Commandments) does NOT require corporate worship on that day to keep it holy. The commandment ONLY requires rest. So this whole idea of a "day of worship" is itself extremely confusing for Adventists because it conflates the idea of worshipping with sabbath and resting on sabbath. These are two separate issues.
EVERY DAY for Israel and for the early church and for Catholics today is a day of worship. We have daily mass in most places available. There is no such concept as a "day of worship." ALL days we should worship God. This must be repeated often too Adventists. Sunday is not the day of worship for Catholics AS IF there is a wrong day of worship. This is foundational to understand the Adventist worldview. They believe that there is a WRONG day to corporately worship on. IN FACT, they believe that this is going to be the final test to see if one is a Christian or not. The DAY of worship is of extreme importance. So you must always keep in the forefront of your discussion with Adventists that Catholics do not have a day of worship. They worship corporately daily.
This is the crux of it all. 1) Sunday is not the direct replacement for the weekly Sabbath. 2) There is no such thing as a wrong day to worship. Jesus worshipped all the time (corporately) on Sunday so therefore there is no chance that one day it will be evil to worship on Sunday.

There are actually 12 or 13 "shall" and "shall not" in the 10 commandments, depending on if you look at Exodus or Deuteronomy.
Only 9 of the 10 commandments are repeated in the New Testament because the sabbath is now the Lord's Day on Sunday..ie..the first day of the week.
We can now eat port, circumcision is no longer required, and go to church on Sunday instead of Saturday, despite what the Seventh Day Adventist say.

History confirms that the last of the Gospels was written somewhere around 90-100 AD. Some might date it a little earlier, & some later, but that seems to be the average. So by the turn of the century, we now finally had the last of the 4 Gospels written - but we still had no NT canon (the authoritative list of books - the rule - by which we would compile & complete the NT.
It seems to be assumed or taken for granted by some
Christians that the NT was readily available hot off the presses for all at that time: *it wasn’t* . The reality is that the Church had guarded the texts & copied them by hand over the centuries, & it wasn’t until about the late 4th century (about 382 AD) that the Church finally discerned the canon of NT Scripture which has endured to the present day.
In the absence of the completed Christian Bible, what then did the Early Church have as its authority? 🤔
      HINT:
      From *Strong’s Concordance* (BibleHub):
      “ *3862* . *paradosis* ►

      Transliteration: paradosis
      Phonetic Spelling: (par-ad'-os-is)

      Usage: an instruction, tradition* .”

      Definition
*a handing down or over, a tradition*
      *NASB Translation*
      *tradition* (1), *tradition* (8), *traditions* (4).”
And before any naysayers invoke Jesus & the Pharisees on tradition, He didn’t say all *tradition* was bad. In fact, He said to listen to them - but not to do as they do. He also invoked the seat of Moses - which is *tradition* ( *teaching/instruction handed down* ) in the Jewish faith, & St. Paul had this understanding when he’d written the following in the NT:
      1 Cor 11:2 NKJV
Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things and keep the *traditions* just as I delivered them to you.
      2 Th 2:15 KJV
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the *traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle* .
Did you get that? He said *tradition by word or Epistle - meaning oral or written Tradition* .
      2 Th 3:6
Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the *tradition* which he received of us.

John, that is not right. Christ built His Church on Peter, and Peter kept Sabbath. In Acts chapter 15 we see that James expects the Gentile converts to learn Moses in synagogue on Sabbaths, and the Church agreed to follow this directive.
Tree with fruit of child molesters, pride of the rebellious title Father ("call no man on Earth your father, for One is your Father in Heaven"), Mother-Son religion of Babylon in place of the Father-Son religion of Truth; if a tree is known by its fruit then the sect of Rome is not the Church built upon Peter.
Perhaps the tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of Sabbath keeping "judaiszers" who were murdered by the Roman sect; maybe they are the Church built on Peter. Those willing to die for their faith!
Constantine offered an end to persecution in exchange for corrupting the Church into Roman Paganism. We are blessed when we are persecuted for His name's sake. What blessing was lost by the cowardice of that era, the compromise with Constantine? So much blessing lost; even the law is lost! Lawless Romans, Lawless Protestants, thank Christ for the reconciliation of sinners! Those who the Roman sect beheaded because they would not deny the Truth, we who keep Sabbath and love God's Law, we who are the religion that Jesus is; this is the Church built on Peter. The gates of Rome have not prevailed against us!
Get real John. We are not "Catholic", not "Protestant", but rather there is the Church which is the one universal catholic Church. We don't call men "father". We insist only Christ was sinless, and Mary being human did sin, and this is a key piece to Christ's humanity. Our preachers are not homosexual, nor do they molest children, and if a preacher is caught molesting children the lay people will not tolerate it! The true Church has fruit worthy of repentance.
Pride, child molestation, rebellion, and blasphemy are not fruits of the Spirit.
"boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."
The Power Of God does not result in child molestation, nor is the tolerance of such evil! Accept the atrocity, deny the power...
"But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea."
The problem isn't the preachers and bishops; the problem is that people like you still worship the Roman sect despite her atrocious criminality.
John, there is true Church. We love you very much. We are not built with hands, nor by men, but by the Spirit Of God Christ Jesus.

This is about teenage boys and even young children being abused! It's not about whether your sect has something to be proud of or not. Shame on you for where your concerns lie first and where your concerns do not first lie.
I have no sect. I am of Jesus Christ. There is no splintering in Christ. Christ never seperated from the Eastern Orthodox sect. It was not Christ who refused reform 500 years ago. It's not Christ who cares more about His appearence than about little children.
Mark, everyone who claims that Jesus Christ, God and Son Of God, was crucified and raised from the dead; everyone who claims that such is Truth and is the reconciliation of sins unto eternal life given to all humanity, made manifest upon belief in Christ; all who make that claim have the Truth. It's not Rome who are Truth, Christ is Truth, and Truth us His Church. Church is Christ, we who follow and agree with His every word.
Anyone who claims to be saved by a Church sect rather than by Christ, has not believed Christ but has rather believed an institution of men. We are not called to institution but to Spirit and Truth and trust in Christ only. Specifically Christ, specifically only. Romans talk about their sect like she is Christ and without her is no Christ. It's a disgrace.
I hope you will decide to look at things honestly instead of to make yourself feel good about the atrocities of Rome. Misunderstood Scripture
      Catholic productions
      Innocent Sabbath dispute
      Additional writing by Ellen White
      Number one:
Some Christians believe that the Sabbath has been changed due to the popular belief that the Sabbath day was meant for the Jewish people. They use Revelations 1:10 "I was in the spirit on the Lord's day and I heard behind me a loud voice as of a trumpet".
...but what is the Lord's Day? Let us go to the scriptures to reveal the truth.
      Isaiah 58:13
"If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath from doing your pleasure on my holy day". What is his holy day, the day he sanctified?
      Exodus 20:9
"Six days you shall labor and do all your works, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God, and in it he rested". So that is distinguishing a holy day, a day which was Sanctified, which would mean the Lord's day IS Sabbath. Keynote strangers within the gates are non Jewish people implying Jesus wanted the Commandments for everybody
In addition to this there is
Luke 6:5, "and he said to them the son of man is also the lord of the Sabbath.", therefore, again Lord's day is equal to Sabbath day.
      Number two:
Some Believers believe that the Sabbath has been changed because of the resurrection, and they use this scripture...
      Matthew 28:1
"And the end of the Sabbath, as it began to draw towards the first day of the week began to dawn", people say because it says that it was the end of the Sabbath as a reference to the end of the biblical Sabbath but is it really? Let's look further into it...
Now when it says that the Sabbath was ended does that really mean that the Sabbath is done away with? Or is that simply stating a fact that the Sabbath day was ending and was beginning a new week towards the first day.
      Number Three:
      Another misconception is
Mark 16:1 "now knowing Jesus was risen early the first day of the week that he approached first to Mary Magdalene".
Now some say that this is the reason why the sabbath has been changed, but can we see anything that really refers to a change in the Sabbath? There is not one mention of it, and yet again it is just stating a fact, and history, let's connect the pieces.
Mark 16:1-2 "Now when the Sabbath was past Mary Magdalene Mary, the mother of James and Solomon brought spices that they might come and anoint him".
Now this to me is actually proof that the seventh day was still important. If Jesus told the apostles that they did not need to keep the Sabbath, then why was it so important for the disciples not finish enbalming his body on Friday when the sun was going down. answer that one They knew Jesus would not be pleased. The disciples saw it as there was a lot of work involved in it, let's wait until after the Sabbath was passed. Jesus even kept the Sabbath in his death. He rested through the Sabbath and rose after it was over, so the idea that it has been done away with is hogwash.
Now another verse and that shows vital importance, however they try to use this to support what they believe, but let's dive further into it...
Now some people claim the law was nailed to the cross, but was it really that? Let's use Colossians 2:14-15
And it says "having wiped out every hand writings of the ordinances that was against us which was contrary to us and he has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross, having disarmed principalities and powers. He made a public spectacle of them triumphing over them in it".
Now is this referring to the Ten Commandments? Let's examine this scripture to come to a conclusion... now into 2nd Chronicles 33:8 it states "they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses".
Now if you notice both Colossians and Chronicles use the word "ordinances" which means there are two Laws, the law of Moses, and the ten commandments. Colossians is merely representing the fact that we no longer have to keep the law of Moses, but not the Ten Commandments. Therefore, no more animal sacrifice, and and most assured Not the Ten Commandments of the Lord that was written in Stone but of the law of Moses
Oridinances=Laws of Moses Ten Commandments=Hand of God
Deuteronomy 31:26 says, "Take this book of the law, and put it in the side or the ark of the covenent of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee".
Luke 23:56 and it says "then they returned and prepared spices and fragrances oils and they rested on the Sabbath according to the Commandments".
now does any of this say that the Sabbath is a new day? I believe, The full ten Commandments still apply if you disagree show the scriptures in the comment section let's expand our biblical minds.
Have you ever asked yourself, What is the purpose of a sanctuary? Here are some suggestions: A sanctuary is (1) a place where humans communicate with God, (2) a place where religious instruction is given, and (3) a place where God’s grace is experienced. A sanctuary is also (4) a place of refuge. Eden was all of these.
As the earth came into existence under the creative hand of God, it was beautiful to behold. It was the model of perfection. Genesis tells us: “God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good” (1:31, NKJV).1 This perfect world was, also, an expression of love. Love was written on every tree and shrub, on every leaf and flower. The various forms of life were a picture of beautyMan, the crowning act of Creation, was made perfect and upright. He bore the image of His Creator. His character was noble, without bias toward evil, and in harmony with the will of God.
When the creative act was complete, God looked upon what He had made and was satisfied. Everything was perfect only as a perfect God could make it. Ellen White describes this moment: “God looked with satisfaction upon the work of His hands. All was perfect, worthy of its divine Author, and He rested, not as one weary, but as well pleased with the fruits of His wisdom and goodness and the manifestations of His glory” (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 47
Additional writings by Ellen G white
The law of God in the sanctuary in heaven is the great original, of which the precepts inscribed upon the tables of stone and recorded by Moses in the Pentateuch were an unerring transcript. Those who arrived at an understanding of this important point were thus led to see the sacred, unchanging character of the divine law. They saw, as never before, the force of the Saviour's words: "Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law." Matthew 5:18. The law of God, being a revelation of His will, a transcript of His character, must forever endure, "as a faithful witness in heaven." Not one command has been annulled; not a jot or tittle has been changed. Says the psalmist: "Forever, O Lord, Thy word is settled in heaven." "All His commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever and ever." Psalm 119:89; 111:7, 8.
In the very bosom of the Decalogue is the fourth commandment, as it was first proclaimed: "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it." Exodus 20:8-11.

Dead to sin alive to God
      🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
      Bible👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 9Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 14For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
      The Wages of Sin
      (1 Peter 3:14-22)
15What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. 19I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
20For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. 21What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. 22But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23For the answer👉👉👉👉👉👉👉👉👉 wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
      Opinion👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
Many modern Christians believe that because Jesus kept the law for us, that we no longer have to follow the commandments. They believe that God's Grace revoked his laws.
Jesus made it quite clear in the book of Matthew that God's law is infallible.
“Do not think that I came to destroy the law, or the prophets. I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill.”- Matthew 5:17
Jesus continues by telling us what will happen if we fall away from the commandments.
“Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whosoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”-Matthew 5:19-20
In Roman's, written after the crucifixion of Christ, the Apostle Paul reminds us that the commandments still apply, by recalling to us what they are.
“Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For
this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”- Romans 13:8-10
Clearly the laws of God are still important and are valid after the death of Christ. Jesus died for the opportunity for us to repent for our sin, not for us to freely live in it.
The commandments of the old testament are the commandments of the new testament, as God, Jesus, the Prophets, and Apostles have reminded us to keep and obey them.
“Love the Lord, your God, and keep his requirements, his decrees, his laws and his commandments always.”- Deuteronomy11:1

The prohibition was against man not woman. The number seven is the seventh sign aka Libra where Saturn (Israel) was ruled by Venus. Perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the Church ever did, happened in the first century. The holy day, the Sabbath, was changed from Saturday to Sunday. "The Day of the Lord" (dies Dominica) was chosen, not from any directions noted in the Scriptures, but from the Church's sense of its own power. The day of resurrection, the day of Pentecost, fifty days later, came on the first day of the week. So this would be the new Sabbath. People who think that the Scriptures should be the sole authority, should logically become 7th Day Adventists, and keep Saturday holy.

God loves people who worship Him on Sabbath or Sunday. He even loves those that don’t worship Him at all. However an important point that is being missed is that according to Colossians 1:16 Jesus made all things! He is the creator. The sabbath as stated in Genesis 2 is a memorial to creation. On top of this the sabbath day is blessed! No where does it say that the first day of the week is blessed. When we rest on Sabbath as the Creator did we honor and acknowledge Him as the Creator of heavens and the earth and everything . We also show are allegiance. It’s very simple. He did it, we need to do it. Revelation 14:6-12 shares the end of time message about judgement starting and a call to worship the Creator who made the heavens and the earth. You can not honor the Creator by substituting the real 7th day sabbath that He instituted at Creation. Finally Isaiah in 66:22,23 talks of the earth being made new and mentions all creation worshiping before God from sabbath to sabbath.
Question... why was God extremely specific if it did not matter? When God is specific we must listen!Jesus NEVER stated to the apostles that the sabbath would change. Even when resurrected He did not mention it. The reason is He is still the original Creator! By resting in Jesus on sabbath we receive a special blessing. We must prayerfully consider seeking God in all truth, not holding fast to the traditions of men.

Great Dr. for another good lesson on Sabbath , even after good explanations people still harbour their doubts about Sabbath not followed.
No wonder , why all of them do not understand that all Ten commandments are comprised into two commandments as "LOVE OF GOD AND LOVE OF NEIGHBOUR."
In light of this, how can anybody say that if Church with the authority vested on it by Jesus changes an observance , as acting against the love and reverence to God.
God cannot be understood with just correct observance of rules and regulations but with encountering Him in suffering humanity.
Final judgement is not about any observance or violation, or about conservativism or leaning to liberalism , it is a narrow path , neither left nor right but knowing God through faith and recognising Him with real love and charity when we encounter suffering Christ on streets in any difficult situations.

    • Luke 23:52-24:2 - All acknowledge Jesus died on the Friday, was in the grave on Saturday and rose on Sunday. The preparation day was Friday, Sabbath is Saturday, and the first day of the week is Sunday
There is no Scriptural evidence for the Sabbath being changed from the 7th day Saturday to Sunday (the 1st day of the week). God has blessed the 7th day Sabbath (Gen 2:3, Ex 20:11) though no blessing has been specifically given for Sunday. Keeping Sunday holy was an institution made by humanity and not God. Jesus says that it is possible to worship God without meaning (Matt 15:9). Jesus wants us to obey the commandments of God instead of tradition (Mark 7:9) and to worship as He has asked. God deserves our worship every day of the week, though there is one specific day that God has set apart for corporate worship. It is the 7th day Sabbath that is sanctified and given for our rest (Lev 23:3). God knew the future though, and foretold that an entity will attempt to change God’s times and law (Dan 7:24-25) or His Sabbath and commandments. God invites us to show our love for Him by keeping His commandments (John 14:15) and experience rest and delight in His Sabbath

@Michel Martinez Some people mistakenly assume that, when the apostle John wrote that he “was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day” (Revelation 1:10), he was worshipping on Sunday and experienced the vision on that day. But nowhere does the Bible define “Lord’s Day” as the first day of the week. If this were referring to a day of the week, we would have to conclude that John meant the seventh day, since God calls that day His “holy day…the holy day of the LORD” (Isaiah 58:13). Jesus Christ said He was the “Lord of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:28), not some other day of the week (compare Isaiah 58:13).
However, the context of John’s vision shows that he wasn’t referring to a day of the week at all. Instead, he wrote that the vision transported him forward into that time the Bible elsewhere calls the “day of the LORD,” “day of the LORD Jesus Christ” and “day of Christ” (Jeremiah 46:10; Zephaniah 1:14; Acts 2:20; 1 Corinthians 1:8; 1 Corinthians 5:5; 2 Corinthians 1:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:2; 2 Thessalonians 2:2; 2 Peter 3:10).
These terms are not speaking of a specific 24-hour period. Instead, they refer to the end-time events surrounding the return of Jesus Christ, when He will personally and directly intervene in human affairs. Thus these terms indicate the end of the age of man’s rule and the beginning of the age of Jesus Christ. This is the theme of the book of Revelation and “the Lord’s Day” John saw in vision.

Sunday was never established as the Sabbath by the Creator, nor was it confirmed by the Messiah. Roman Catholicism took it upon themselves to change the day after the action of Constantine to make the pagans feel welcome.
The seventh day of the week, named Saturday on the Gregorian calendar, is the Creator’s day of rest according to creation. Furthermore, it is a sign between the Creator and His people. This means if you don’t keep and remember the seventh day, then you are not one of the Creator’s people.

Yes those things happened on Sunday but did God Day remember the 1st day to keep it holy? No. The Bible records Jesus dying on Friday but did he say make that a sabbath? He only said 7th day was the sabbath.
Don’t read the Cathecism, they are traditions of men. What did God say? T
The stage is being set.

john osumba we are the church now. The church is not an organization or a building, it is us the people. Our bodies are the temple, his law is in our heart. When Jesus died on the cross the priests tore their robes, the veil was ripped in the temple to show he is the sacrificial lamb and we no longer need to go to priests and offer sacrifices to atone for our sins. We can go straight to him.
Gods words trump everything and in creation he said he rested and blessed the 7th day. His Ten Commandments said keep the 7th day holy. It’s the only commandment that says remember because he knew due to changes by men and through the ages we would forget.
If God never changes and is the same today yesterday and forever (Hebrew 13:8) why would he change a day that he made holy on the day of creation and reiterated on the Ten Commandments? What would be the point? Regardless of what other days people met in, there was only one day God specifically blessed and made holy. The 7th.
He honored the sabbath even in death. He remained resting on the 7th day and rose on the 1st day to again give us an example. He preached in the temple before his death on the 7th day again as an example.
I hope lm not coming off sounding offensive I’m really just wanting to bring this up not that you listen to me but just to plant the seed and pray about it and I promise God will reveal his truth to you.
Jesus said to Peter upon this rock (him God the father) I build this church. Not peter the father or apostles the father although they carried the gospel but if their words contradict God the fathers words then they are not true apostles and the apostles in the Bible did not contradict Gods words. People may twist the words that their saying but the only father we have is God/Jesus. He is our example and his word trumps everything.
Knowing he history of the Roman church and the influence pagenism had on them in the early days and the sun worship that took place in Sunday’s, I know the sabbath day and other changes to the bible were made to unify Christianity and the pegans. But the truth comes from God alone and I promise you ask him for clarity and he’ll show you.

@@daughterofgod777 , hi! I think the better statement is "The Church is more than an organization and a building." Yes it's the people but with structure (leaders, elders, apostles, etc) just like a body. Yes, our bodies are temple of the Holy Spirit but we are also individual members of the One Body of Christ. And that body has a structure, unity, etc. How would you explain Mt 18:17 (bringing a "case" to the church), 2 Pt 1:20 (private interpretation) and other multiple passages in the New Testament if there is no visible Church?
"Knowing he history of the Roman church and the influence pagenism had on them in the early days and the sun worship that took place in Sunday’s, I know the sabbath day and other changes to the bible were made to unify Christianity and the pegans." ---> where did you get this myth? and how did you verify it's accuracy?
The Roman Catholic Church has her ups and downs in her 2000 years of history, yes it's true, but can you point me to a perfect and sinless visible church on this earth since the time of the apostles? Even in 1 John 2:18-19, the antichrists "went out FROM us, but they were not of us..."
Also, I believe it's worth reflecting,
      - Acts of the Apostles (Establishment of the Church; a journey from Jerusalem (1st Chapter) to Rome (Last Chapter))
      - Letter to the Hebrews (ends in Italy)
      -
Matthew 16 (Do you think it was just a coincidence that our Lord changed the name of Simon to Peter and gave the keys to him at Caesarea Philippi?); Of all the 12 apostles, only Peter whose name was changed. Isn't changing a name in the Bible, a very significant thing/purpose?
      - Revelation (in verse 19: "Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb" - the Eucharist)
I appreciate your concern but I would like to return the invitation to you: "pray about it and I promise God will reveal his truth to you."

WHO CHANGED THE SABBATH TO SUNDAY?
There can be no doubt that Christ, His disciples, and the first-century Christians kept Saturday, the seventh-day Sabbath. Yet, today, most of the Christian professing world keeps Sunday, the first day of the week, calling it the Sabbath. Who made this change, and how did it occur?
No serious student of the Scriptures can deny that God instituted the Sabbath at creation and designated the seventh day to be kept holy. “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made” (Genesis 2:2-3). It was later codified as the Fourth Commandment (Exodus 20:8-11).
The Word of God makes it expressly clear that Sabbath observance is a special sign or “mark” between God and His people. There is also no uncertainty that Christ, His disciples, and the first-century Christians kept the seventh-day Sabbath as commanded-the day we now call “Saturday” (Mark 2:28; Luke 4:16).
Is There Any Biblical Support for Sunday Observance?
There is absolutely no New Testament text stating that God, Jesus, or the apostles changed the Sabbath to Sunday-not a text, not a word, not even a hint or suggestion. If there were, those chapters and verses would be loudly heralded by Sabbath opposers. Had Paul or any other apostle taught a change from Sabbath to Sunday, the first day of the week, an absolute firestorm of protest would have arisen from conservative Jewish Christians. The Pharisees and scribes would have insisted that Paul or any other person even suggesting such a thing be stoned to death for the sin of Sabbath-breaking. This would have been a much larger issue than the controversy over circumcision!
The self-righteous Pharisees had already falsely accused Christ of breaking the Sabbath because He violated the added man-made rules and traditions they placed upon the Sabbath (Mark 2:24). The total absence of any such controversy over a change in the day of worship is one of the best evidences showing the apostles and other New Testament Christians did not change the day. On the contrary, we have a record of many Sabbaths that Paul and his traveling companions kept long after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Read of them in your own Bible in Acts 13:14, 27, 42-44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; and 18:4. Acts 13:42-44 is especially significant in that Paul and Barnabas, when speaking at a Jewish synagogue, were invited to speak again the next Sabbath. This would have been Paul’s golden opportunity to tell the people to meet with him the next day rather than waiting a whole week for the Sabbath. But, “on the next Sabbath almost the whole city [Jews and Gentiles alike] gathered to hear the word of the Lord.”
Yet today, most of the Christian professing world keeps Sunday, the first day of the week, calling it the Sabbath. The question arises then, who changed the Sabbath to Sunday, and how did it occur? The answer may amaze you!
    Biblical Testimony
The New Testament plainly shows we are to continue keeping the commandments (Mathew 5:17-18; 19:17; 28:20)-all ten of them. Where, then, do men get the “authority” to change the Fourth Commandment by substituting Sunday for the original Sabbath Christ and the apostles kept?
The Bible prophesied many centuries earlier that the time would come when men would think to change times and laws (Daniel 7:25). Many Bible prophecies are “dual” in nature-that is, they have a type and antitype, an earlier and a later fulfillment. Though speaking specifically of the soon-coming antichrist, we can see the forerunner type documented in history.
The Watering Down of the Sabbath in the First 300 Years
The Christians during the apostolic era, from about 35 to 100 A.D., kept Sabbath on the designated seventh day of the week. For the first 300 years of Christian history, when the Roman emperors regarded themselves as gods, Christianity became an “illegal religion,” and God’s people were scattered abroad (Acts 8:1). Judaism, however, was regarded at that time as “legal,” as long as they obeyed Roman laws. Thus, during the apostolic era, Christians found it convenient to let the Roman authorities think of them as Jews, which gained them legitimacy with the Roman government. However, when the Jews rebelled against Rome, the Romans put down their rebellion by destroying Jerusalem in A.D. 70 and again in A.D. 135. Obviously, the Roman government’s suppression of the Jews made it increasingly uncomfortable for Christians to be thought of as Jewish. At that time, Sunday was the rest day of the Roman Empire, whose religion was Mithraism, a form of sun worship. Since Sabbath observance is visible to others, some Christians in the early second century sought to distance themselves from Judaism by observing a different day, thus “blending in” to the society around them.
During the Empire-wide Christian persecutions under Nero, Maximin,

Already in Apostolic times scripture records that first day was the new 'Sabbath' - Acts 20:7. Col 2:16 warns about 'Judaizing' and becoming superstitious about the old observances. The Lord of the Sabbath rose from the dead on the first day. Praise be to Thee, O Lord, King of everlasting Glory.

Mary Magdalene came to the burial tomb of the Lord Jesus on Sunday while it was dark and found the tomb open (John 20:1). This doesn't mean the Lord resurrected on Sunday early dawn. It is even more possible that He resurrected hours before Mary Magdalene came to the tomb.

Beautiful. So appropriate that the EF of the Mass always ends with the “last Gospel”. It really completes the theme of “new creation” you explained here.
One last apologetic point that I’m sure you would have made if you had time: Jesus approves of the change since every single one of His recorded resurrection appearances happen on a Sunday. Like He’s saying “Here I am making the new creation. Worship Me.”

@@mitchellosmer1293 You should read the early Church fathers, the writings of those early Church leaders immediately following the age of the apostles. They regarded Sunday as the Christians day of worship, seeing it as the first day of the new creation (harkening to St. Paul in scripture “if anyone is In Christ behold he is a new creation “ and as the eighth day, as the next day of the original creation that now extends into eternity.
But back to my original point: it’s not only Jesus’s resurrection day that we see Him appearing but subsequent Sundays also. And what does He do on those sundays? He teaches and eats/breaks bread. I understand this connection is a difficult one for Protestants because you have not heeded the words of St Paul “hold fast to the traditions I have taught you “, but these are the essential parts of Christian worship traceable to the earliest days of the Church.

---------When it comes to spiritual life, salvation, and Christian obedience, Sola Scriptura means that the Bible gets the final word. As Christians, we believe that all answers to our questions and all wisdom for life should first and foremost be found in the Word (Hebrews 4:12) or seen implicitly through its lens. Ultimately, Sola Scriptura is the start and foundation of everything we know about God and His glory.

----Deuteronomy 8:3 states that “we do not live on bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God”. The Reformers did not create this idea on the basis of logic, virtue, experience, or tradition, but from the foundation of Scripture itself.
      ---- Proverbs 30:5-6 states:
“Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.”
Sola Scriptura ultimately means God’s Word alone-that we are not to add or take away any of God’s words but to submit ourselves to its supreme authority.

Collegians 2:16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

Paul tells us Jewish Sabbath was modelled after God's Sabbath in Hebrews 4:1-11. Let's pause for a moment and try to understand what God meant "you shall observe the Sabbath and keep it holy for in 6 days I created the heavens and the earth and rested on the 7th day". Here God was telling the Jews to imitate him.
God was telling the Israelites to rest on the 7th day just like he rested on the 7th day after finishing the creation. God was telling Israel to copy like him. God was telling that Jewish Sabbath is a copy of his Sabbath. Jewish Sabbath was not perfect. It was a foreshadow of what was to come. Paul was telling us that we are to enter into God's rest, not the rest day of the nation of Israel.
There are two Sabbaths here. One is God's Sabbath, God's rest and the other is Israel's Sabbath, the rest day of the nation of Israel.
Those who are observing the rest day of Israel are going back to the Law. It is unfortunate that Sabbath keepers can't differentiate between Israel's Sabbath which is a 7 day cycle and God's Sabbath which is everyday till God create a new heaven and a new earth. God has been resting ever since the creation of the world. He will be on sabbatical till the new heaven and the new earth is created.
We look forward to Christ but Sabbath keepers look back to Moses. Sabbath keepers put on the yoke of the Law. They don't understand what Jesus said, come all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you test. Take my yoke upon you for my yoke is easy and my burden light.
Jesus taught us how the Law was to be lived as it was originally intended.
The law said, you shall have no other gods and do not commit idolatry but Jesus taught love the God with your whole mind, heart and soul.
The law said an eye for an eye but Jesus taught love you neighbour and pray for those who persecute you.
The law said, do not murder but Jesus said, don't even call your brother a fool
The law said keep the Sabbath but Jesus said, be perfect just as God is perfect. Jesus worked miracles on the Jewish Sabbath day. Jesus defended his disciples who picked corn and ate it on the Sabbath day. The Son of man is the Lord of the Sabbath.
The law said, keep your oath but Jesus said let your yes be yes and your no be no.
The law said do not covet your neighbours' wife but Jesus said don't even look at a woman with lust.
The law said do not covet your neighbours' goods but Jesus said do not work for earthly treasures but work for heavenly treasures for where your treasure is, there your heart will be.
The law teaches how to live right but Jesus taught how to be righteous and perfect like God the Father.
7 day cycle Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. God's Sabbath is not a 7 day cycle. God has been resting ever since the creation. God's rest is everyday. We are to enter into God's rest. Our Sabbath day is more of spiritual unlike Israel's Sabbath which is more of physical observance. We are living in the New Testament but Sabbath keepers are going back to the Old Testament.
The Old Testament was to guide us to the New Testament.
Jesus said, "No one puts new wine into the old wineskin". Let this sink into the head of Sabbath keepers..

"Thus says The Lord God: You shall not desecrate the Sabbath, the seventh day of the week, which I have commanded you to remember and keep holy. For as I had spoken it to My servant Moses, so it is and shall be, even to this day. And as I had spoken it before the congregation, so shall it be done. Yea, with the blowing of the great trumpet, with lightnings and thunderings, did I declare My Law; before the tribes of Israel, and in the presence of angels, did I put My power on open display. Behold, by My own finger was it engravened upon tablets of stone, and by the power of My spirit is it established within the hearts of the penitent.
Yet the churches of men forsake The Law, and the peoples of this world seek to tear down My Commandments! Thus they shall surely die! For transgression of The Law is sin, and the penalty of sin is death. Yet a New Covenant I have sent to you in YahuShua The Messiah, to save you from the penalty of that which you have forsaken. Therefore, you shall live because of Him and set your steps aright, according to that which He upholds and has magnified in Himself, He being the only One who is without sin, having kept every tittle of The Law - blameless.
For it is written: It is easier for the heavens and the earth to pass away, than for one tittle of The Law to fail. For the spirit of The Law is shown in The Messiah’s vesture, He being the same One who taught you The Law anew, by His example and by His every word and deed. For The Law is fulfilled in The Messiah; indeed, He is the goal at which the Torah aims. Thus He is The Lord of The Law and of the Sabbath.
So then give answer, O churches of men:
If He is The Lord of the Sabbath,
    Having obeyed My every command,
Why do you not follow Him?...
You say you follow Him and honor Me,
Yet most assuredly, I say to you, you shall
All be found liars in the Day of Reckoning!...
    Says The Lord.
And you, O church called Roman and Catholic, how We mourn for you! For you have been judged, and shall be left utterly desolate in the Day of The Lord’s Anger! You say you speak for Me and have The Messiah’s authority, yet I tell you, you have trampled upon the grave of The Resurrected One, making His sacrifice of no effect! WOE TO ALL WHO BLASPHEME THE SPIRIT! Throughout your generations you have not ceased from transgressing The Law by your traditions! Even to this day you embrace every foul and contemptible doctrine, reveling in those things I hate! Behold, you pollute the name of The Messiah by all you say and do, as you lead the people astray!
O unholy church of adulteries, mother of all fornications and lies, your destruction draws near! You have become Egypt! LET MY PEOPLE GO! Stop desecrating My Sabbaths! The seventh day is the Sabbath, which I had ordained from the beginning! Cease from your heresies, hold your tongue from your blasphemies, turn back from this wicked way you have chosen, AND REPENT, and I may yet have mercy upon you! For I am The Lord, and I DO NOT CHANGE!
Therefore heed My words and bow down, O unholy church of men! Hear the Word of The Lord, and be broken in pieces! For The Holy One is coming quickly and will take from you His own; He shall snatch them from your very breast! And no more shall My children receive nourishment from you! No more shall they be held captive under the veil of your deceptions! The light shall be taken from you, and you shall be left all alone, utterly estranged, on account of your unending adulteries and for the multitude of your whoredoms, which you performed in MY NAME!
Thus your fate lies with him who is coming, the wicked one who shall lead many into perdition and death. You shall bear him a son, a man who bears the number of his name, his prophet. Yet you will not be alone when desolations come; you and your enemy, Ishmael, shall receive recompense in full. For you both remain children of your father, the devil.
Behold, The Mighty and Strong One
Shall return and take from the earth
    His own, and great recompense
Shall be poured out on all nations...
He shall come in power and great glory,
    And Judgment shall sit...
Yet all who come out from among them,
And call upon the name of The Holy One of Israel,
In spirit and in truth, shall be delivered...
    Says The Lord."

This video states correctly that there is no command anywhere in the Bible to change God's Sabbath day to sunday, the first day of the week. In fact Jesus Himself says in Mark 7:7 In vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men. 8. For laying aside the commandments of God you hold the traditions of men. 9. Full well you reject the commandments of God that you may keep your own tradition.
Jesus further specifies in John 14:15. If you love me, keep my commandments.
He doesn't say keep nine out of ten of them He says Keep my commandments.
Yet still you make all the excuses why you should obey the doctrine of men and teach others to do so also, rather than keep the commandments of God.

On sabbath, the OLD Jesus rested. On the next day, after sabbath, as the scripture says, the NEW Jesus was ressurected, and the new creation begins. Sabbath and Old Jesus already passed. The New Jesus begins.

Are you familiar with the Verse found in Revelation Chapter 13 Verse 18 - "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."
Did you know that the early Roman Papacy during the Emperor Constantine gave the Early Pope a Crown, also known as The PAPAL Tiara.. This Original Crown had inscribed on it "Vicarious Filii Dei" during this time Latin was the Dialect and adding these up you get 6-6-6..
I believe Pope Paul VI in 1963 was the last of the Popes to wear this Tiara Crown with the inscription of "Vicarious Filii Dei"
Now that's a lot to take in... and what's the point really... well WHEN you see GLOBAL Leaders trying to get us to RETURN to SERFDOM and most of the AMERICAN Presidents are direct descendants of King John of England. ROYAL BLOOD PEOPLE..
"You Will Own Nothing and Be Happy" this is what Global Elites are bringing back that which the French Revolution freed us from in 1798 when General Berthier of Napoleon’s army conquered Papal Rome, known to many as "The Whore of BABYLON" Revelation Chapter 13 reveals the Beast whose deadly wound is now healed...
As the Papacy claims they have the power from Peter, John Chapter 14 Verse 6 - "Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
BUT PLEASE IF YOU REMEMBER ANYTHING, REMEMBER THIS WHEN IT COMES SOON and IT WILL...
The substitution of the laws of men for the law of God, the exaltation, by merely human authority, of Sunday in place of the Bible Sabbath, is the last act in the drama. When this substitution becomes universal God will reveal Himself. He will arise in His majesty to shake Terribly the Earth.

No, I honestly do not recall seeing it in a bulletin. And I agree, that you see many people on Christmas and Easter that you've never seen before. I guess the one positive is that at least they feel somewhat obligated to be there on those two days. Even NT Scripture says that we are expected to attend church services on a regular basis or it is a sin (Heb.10:25-26). But, of course, if you only go to church two or three days a year, it is very unlikely that you would ever have the inclination to crack open a Bible. I can't speak for other denominations, but I know for a fact that lots of Catholics don't know what Scripture teaches, nor do they care. I hate to say it, but I think there are probably many who sit in the front pew every Sunday and Holy Day who rarely if ever read Scripture.

There are Protestants and others who know the Catechism better than most Catholics do. I really don't blame the Church for all the Scriptural ignorance either, these people just don't have the desire within themselves to crack open a Bible and learn about their whole salvation story. They would rather play golf or cut the grass on Sunday, and when they're not doing that, they are being a slave to their computers and cell phones.

What a shame to put traditions above the teaching of Jesus, doing exactly what Jesus criticized to the pharisians: putting tradition above God’s commandments (Mark 7 / Matthew 15 / …)

Why would we even consider the catechism of the catholic church? It is not the bible.

    Misunderstood Scripture
If Jesus told the apostles that they did not need to keep the Sabbath, then why was it so important for the disciples not finish enbalming his body on Friday when the sun was going down answer that one also. They knew Jesus would not be pleased.

Isn't it true that in the Years following the Ascension of Christ, the first Christians still gathered on Saturdays for their worship?
What became of the stories that the Christians still attended the temple on Saturdays for what was essentially the Liturgy of the word..... but that eventually the Jews threw them out and didn't allow them to attend anymore?

👍 thanks for confirming that Saturday rest and Sunday worship are two different things. My point and question exactly.
All those things you mentioned that happened on sundays.. amazing! That's exactly why we gather and worship on sundays.
So why isn't there rest on Saturdays anymore? It's a completely different question.
It was a nice answer that people are free to rest everyday. But that's asinine in regard to the Commandment of Sabbath rest.
Would you tell me that I shouldn't pay special honor to my father and mother.. but rather that I could just honor everyone equally? And you feel that's the same as obeying the 4th Commandment?
      I'd hope not?
So if you have an answer as to why we're no longer required to rest on saturdays... other than just saying we're free to rest every day, thanks 👋
Maybe sometime someone will address the question?

@po18guy btw.... if you think it's also okay to change the fourth Commandment and that God no longer sees honor of our parents differently than honor of others... I'd suggest not posting that publicly.
If you don't think it's okay, BTW that makes your answer regarding Saturday rest completely Moot and bogus.

@po18guy in the future if you ever plan on responding to someone who is questioning this topic, for the sake of catholicism... I beg you to not use the same reply. If you don't have another one, either don't answer or find the real answer.
Responding by saying that Saturday rest and Sunday worship are two different things.. confirms THEIR belief, NOT yours.

if Sabbath is only for the Jew then why did God blessed and sanctified the 7th day in Genesis?
why did God said on Mat 24 which is about signs of the times to pray that your flight may not be on winter or on sabbath?
who are they speaking about in Daniel 7 that would "change time and law"?
    what about Acts 13, 16, 17, and 18? Luke 4, 23? They still observe/worship on Sabbath.
if bible did not mention any change of sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, then why would you use the catechism to support your claims.

Why this convoluted story when the canons of the synod of Laodicea are clearly documented:
    Canon 29
Christians must not judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day, rather honouring the Lord's Day; and, if they can, resting then as Christians. But if any shall be found to be judaizers, let them be anathema from Christ.
    Canon 16
The Gospels are to be read on the Sabbath [i.e. Saturday], with the other Scriptures.
Before the arrangement of the Ecclesiastical Psalmody was settled, neither the Gospel nor the other Scriptures were accustomed to be read on the Sabbath. But out of regard to the canons which forbade fasting or kneeling on the Sabbath, there were no services, so that there might be as much feasting as possible. This the fathers prohibit, and decree that on the Sabbath the whole ecclesiastical office shall be said.
Neander (Kirchengesch., 2d ed., vol. iij., p. 565 et seq.) suggests in addition to the interpretation just given another, viz.: that it was the custom in many parts of the ancient Church to keep every Saturday as a feast in commemoration of the Creation. Neander also suggests that possibly some Judaizers read on the Sabbath only the Old Testament; he, however, himself remarks that in this case εὐαγγέλια and ἑτέρων γραφῶν would require the article.
    Van Espen.
Among the Greeks the Sabbath was kept exactly as the Lord's day except so far as the cessation of work was concerned, wherefore the Council wishes that, as on Sundays, after the other lessons there should follow the Gospel.
For it is evident that by the intention of the Church the whole Divine Office was designed for the edification and instruction of the people, and especially was this the case on feast days, when the people were apt to be present in large numbers.
Here we may note the origin of our present [Western] discipline, by which on Sundays and feast days the Gospel is wont to be read with the other Scriptures in the canonical hours, while such is not the case on ferial days, or in the order for ferias and simples.
    Canon 37
It is not lawful to receive portions sent from the feasts of Jews or heretics, nor to feast together with them.
    Canon 38
It is not lawful to receive unleavened bread from the Jews, nor to be partakers of their impiety.
