As a Jewish convert to the Catholic Faith, it gives me such a great feeling of connection, listening to Dr. Pitre. It's funny because I didn't really know Judaism very well, and I didn't do any research or studies on Christianity, before my conversion. I was converted by a dream, on March 12, 1990. The sudden awareness that Jesus is real, He's alive, and He has all the power and all the love -- it all came to me in an instant. I fell in love with Jesus in that moment. I told Him, "I'm Yours, body and soul, do whatever You want with me." My heart's desire was to be as close to Jesus as possible. I asked Him to find me my church before Easter. So of course the Lord took me to the Catholic Church. Even after more than 30 years as a Catholic, I am amazed at God's wisdom in bringing me here, where Jesus is always present, and where I am still learning something new every day. There is no end to the riches of the Catholic Faith. Thank You, Jesus!
Dr. Pitre with this lecture, you have completed the cycle of our Jewish Roots. The Tamid sacrifice, the Passover Meal and our Holy Mass show our loving Gods plan. God bless you.
When you said the priest carries the wood on his shoulders up the ramp like Abraham carried the wood up the mountain I saw Jesus in my mind's eye carrying the wood up Calvary's hill - He was the lamb, He was the Bread offering and the Wine offering. He was the Tamid that day of days. And that's why the Church remembers this every day in the Eucharistic liturgy. Never realized. I always learn something new from you Dr. Pitre. I thank God for you.
Who else later carried the wood of his own sacrifice up a mountain? The parallels are staggering. I am seeing the Old Testament in a whole new light! Thank you Brant Pitre!
When priests and catechists teach about the Eucharist, they need to mention all the bread and wine sacrifices done by ancient Judaism to show the continuity between Judaism and Catholicism. Most informed people know about the Passover/Paschal lamb and the Manna. Hardly anyone knows or talks about the Bread of the Presence and the Tamid.
Dr. Pitre, excelent, excelent, excelent! You MUST bring these informations to the jews! Have you ever considered this possibilty? Specially, for those messianic (aka, protestant) jews who don't even consider the Catholic truth. Think about it.
@Janette Davis I'm not sure I follow. Can you please rephrase this? It sounds interesting. Where are you getting this information from? Any recommended resources?
There is a reason Luther protested, because of the rejection of the biblical gospel by the RCC Jesus is our Passover Lamb ,there is a once and final offering on the Cross for sin that is why Jesus said it is finished....
Luther served his ego and Satan. I don't listen to anything Luther said, he's responsible for millions of our separated brethren in Christ stumbling around in heresy.
I absolutely have no idea why God in Exodus tells man to pour out wine and asks a sacrifice of lamb and bread. If that happened in modern era, it would be some kind of waste...thank God that the Messiah already abolished this sacrifice through His sacrifice on the cross
Love Dr. Pitre's teachings, but the joke of Catholics being drunks is so sad, not funny. When will they recognize that a little wine with a meal was never meant to justify being drunks? Alcohol has caused so many problems for people, it clouds our minds & separates us from God. I'm somewhat a victim of the Catholic traditions on the matter. Growing up Catholic, it was accepted that we would drink & it was a fine thing & no problem with God. As I got older & truly gave my life to Jesus, his Holy Spirit came & had me give up the alcohol & revealed to me the love/hate relationship that I unknowingly had with it, having so much fun, but yet it also caused so many problems in my life & for others, clouded my mind & separated me from God, as it does so many others.
It also demonstrates that the new wine (Pentecost marked the beginning of the grape harvest) was alcoholic, albeit not fully fermented. Those who condemn alcohol consumption entirely tend to claim the sweet new wine was unfermented grape juice, but if that was the case, the Apostles could not have been accused of getting drunk on it. While you would have to drink considerably more new wine to get drunk than old wine, it was possible if you drank enough of it.
Not all Israel is Israel. Jesus never broke the lamb only bread. Bread of life. By their fruits they are known what fruits, the grape's . He was the wine that was crushed ,the grape's were crushed. Jesus was crushed on the Calvary. Gethsemane means winepress. Or oil press.
No lamb offering is sufficient to appease the wrath of God forever so He sent us his only Son as a sacrifice instead. As Abraham said, the Lord will provide a worthy sacrifice
How dare Catholics quote the jewish book. It says the messaih will come in truimph and only once. Jesus was and is rejected by the Jewish people as the messaih of their book. Jesus was a commited jew who would never have co operated with a Roman Church.
On the contrary, Daniel says that the Messiah must come twice: once before the destruction of the Second Temple, when He will be cut off, and again at the end of the age, when He will destroy the powers of the Earth and rule all nations with an everlasting government.
Lol..you should read Scripture and the Early Church Fathers, men who were taught by the Apostles. Jesus started His Church in Matthew 16 and appointed Peter to be steward over it until His return (Isaiah 22) and the gates of hell will not prevail. That Church is still here, it's the Catholic Church. No other group which follows Christ has an unbroken documented link directly back to Matthew 16. ruclips.net/video/305OOQGc2yY/видео.html
@@SaintCharbelMiracleworker LOL! Catholic lies. There is no such thing as an unbroken catholic link to Christ. Also you base the papacy on just one verse in the whole bible, which you have butchered in the most worst way!

The scripture reference shown from 3:04 - 4:08 is Numbers 28: 1-8, not Exodus 28: 1-8.
Thank you dear. You saved my day. I've been breaking my head since the last half hour wondering why it's not in both my bibles.

There were a lot of reasons. Rome itself has acknowledged those reasons over the years.

I have never seen him joking except here. Good.
The verse is wrong its Exodus 29:38-42😇
Jesus also carried his own wood
Sorry, but when I think of an alter, I do not picture a table. I think of the alters from my youth pre Vatican II.

There is no way the other party would have explained the sacrifice this way. Otherwise, they wouldve come home...long ago.
