I bought the bamboo sketch for my Ipad Air 2 and had major issues with it in CSP, Procreate, Bamboo...notes? I had to take off my screen protector, didn’t make much difference. And when I borrowed my brother’s 2018 Ipad, it worked perfect! 😭
For the newer Ipads, they are really good... older ones... a cheap stylus from Walmart might be the best you’ll get 😭

For the bamboo sketch's palm rejection i watched a video on using one-note on the iPad and it had a palm rejection setting within the app based off of how you hold the pencil. Is that an apple pencil specific feature or would that be able to help the bamboo perform even better?

I have the ipad pro 12.9 2015 and I am a medical student who take notes intensively. I also have an Apple pencil and it works incredibly amazing. It is of course optimal for the Ipad therefore you can rest your hand on the screen and write like on the real paper. The Apple pencil has a very great battery, it actually works 30mins for 30s charging and 12 hours or more with full charge. A Although, it is kind of inconvenient when I have to plug it in the ipad to connect to the ipad, it operates perfectly after that. Now, I feel it is much more interesting to read text books and take notes on the Ipad with Apple pencil than on real books and notebooks ( I recommend using the Notability app to read books and take notes)

What’s a better stylus for an intermediate digital artist. The sketch has, I think, 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity and the fineline 3 has half. The fineline 3 is cheaper but doesn’t have that case. Now currently the sketch costs $98 or £75, whilst the fineline 3 costs $68 or £45. I kind of care about the price, as in if there’s a bit of a difference (i.e the case) I don’t mind staying cheap, but if there is a better difference\advantage, and it’s worth it, then I don’t mind paying the extra price.

I’m thinking about getting one of these too for my iPad 5th Gen - I think we have the same model of iPad, I believe - so if I actually go through with buying it in the next few days, I’ll play around with it and tell you how it works!

Anne Onimous so I thought about this long and hard, so please bear with me as I talk more about this.
I should clear up mostly what I draw and how, along with the programs I use. Ahem- I say I’m an intermediate artist because I’ve been into art for a few years now, and my setup is just an iPad 5th Generation tablet (the 2017 one) and a BlackWeb capacitive stylus (I just press that little button and I’m good to draw, I just have to charge it every so often). I mainly use Autodesk Sketchbook to draw, though I’m slowly beginning to play around with Procreate as well. I draw mostly characters, so inking is very important to my art process.
I SHOULD MENTION RIGHT NOW THAT I HAVEN’T ACTUALLY BOUGHT ANY STYLUSES YET, AND ILL EXPLAIN LATER ON
My biggest problem right now is that my current stylus has a metal tip - I’ve been using it for about a year, and the glass screen protector on my iPad has little scratches right where I draw. So... naturally, I wanted to try and find a nice stylus that actually didn’t mess up my screen, was fairly reasonable in price, and if I was lucky, something that had shortcut buttons or pressure sensitivity or palm rejection.
I took about a week in really looking at options on the market that supported my iPad. The Apple Pencil, sadly, was out of the running, as well as some more recent (and definitely well made) third-party styluses. The main ones I’ve looked at were the Adonit Pixel and the Wacom Bamboo Stylus, because they generally had what I was looking for.
The Pixel seems good in general, BUT apparently there’s a lot of connectivity issues. It seems like it draws fine? I just don’t feel comfortable spending over $70 if my pen isn’t going to work most of the time. Plus... it’s sold out everywhere - on the Adonit site and Amazon.
So then I found the Wacom Bamboo Sketch Stylus, which I remember from a few years ago, when I was going to upgrade my drawing setup before. It looked promising, like the Adonit Pixel - two programmable buttons, pressure sensitivity and Bluetooth connectivity - and it seemed like connectivity wouldn’t be an issue, like the Pixel. But as I really looked into the Sketch, I got a little nervous. The lines don’t seem to be all that smooth when connected to your tablet, aaaaand that’s a problem for me. I live for clean lineart, and I trust Wacom, but would I feel comfortable spending over $80 on a stylus that might not give me what I want? There’s also the issue of not being able to find the stylus for sale either, like the Pixel - it’s not even on Wacom’s site anymore, and it’s not in the Best Buy I saw it in a few years ago, so it feels like Wacom is trying to make this pen obsolete now. I don’t like the rubber tipped pens they have on their site now, because they wear out too quickly for me. It’s frustrating because I would give my business to this product, but the fact that I might not even be able to return it if I have issues just really makes me feel uneasy.
I haven’t been able to find any alternatives since then, and I’m honestly not sure if I can trust anything other than the Apple Pencil - please Lord, forgive me for saying that. But it’s true; it seems like the Apple Pencil is the best stylus for an iPad, it’s just... that it doesn’t support the iPad we both have. And I hate to be that guy who says that it’s probably better to get an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil, but... I genuinely haven’t seen a stylus for the iPad 5th Gen that I can trust to actually work, and for what it’s worth, the Apple Pencil seems to work better than anything else I’ve seen on the market. I know that for people like me, who don’t have the kind of money to buy almost $1,000 worth of tech, it’s frustrating, but I honestly don’t see anything that’s worth it.
I might try buying a Pixel or the Wacom Bamboo Sketch if I can find it, but I’ve gotten to a point where I might just save my money and get an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil in a year or so.
I know it’s not the review you wanted to hear, but I genuinely hope that you find something amazing that works for you! If I have the money and see that stylus, I might buy it for the heck of it and try it out, but I’m not sure that’s likely... either way, I hope this helped in at least some regard. You can always ask a question about something if you need to, I hope I’ll be able to answer ^^

    • @paxxisticks
      @paxxisticks 4 года назад +1

A few other bits that I didn’t mention before:
When I usually find something I’m interested in buying, I tend to do... a lot of research, hhhhhh. I’ll have times when I really debate on whether I want to buy something, especially if it’s costly or has a few pros and cons. When there’s something that is off to me in a product, it tends to make me... frustrated. Wouldn’t we all like to get a product that works completely fine? Eheh...
I had issues like that with both the Adonit Pixel and the Wacom Bamboo Sketch. Both seem like really great styluses! They have a lot running for them, but I just feel so hesitant in buying one of them because... well, whether it’s connectivity issues, or lines not processing right, it bothers me either way. It definitely doesn’t help that most styluses on the market right now don’t support the model iPad I use, which really bums me out. I’m also fairly good with fixing problems on computers and stuff, but I can’t help that something in the hardware is broken...
So personally, I’m probably gonna wait to buy anything. If I find more stuff, I’ll definitely come back here and tell you what I find!!

Great video, I was just wondering which app are you using for the video? I mean on the ipad which app you are using for drawing on the ipad, I was looking for a good app for making notes, can you recomend any app? Also I wanted to find an app, that for example you take picture of a exercise notebook and on the ipad on the picture where you are suppose to write down you use the stylus, because I dont want to write directly with a real pen on the book, so I can keep writing many times on the ipad to practice, maybe this kind of app exist but I have no idea.
Anyway I hope you have some recomendations about this kind of app and the name of the one you are using.
Keep the good work! Again, excellent video.

Honestly I just want to give people a reminder that windows does offer tablets with great stylus technology and full programs. And if it's too hard to afford the apple iPads believe me you are not missing out on anything and Wacom EMr devices are still considered number one and since they exist for a long time a lot of their styluses are cheap and work on every EMR device. Say bye bye to the $100 apple pencil which is a harder choice to buy then the iPad itself

Does the Wacom stylus make a metallic click when it touches the screen from the tip being a harder material? My current stylus has a hard tip and the noise against the glass is rather annoying especially when drawing as many movements and lifts are required.
