I got some ‘softer’ tips from eBay after watching a teoh tech video who’d bought some on aliexpress. Mine didn’t specify 2B or HB but they do feel a tiny bit more rubbery than a standard Apple Pencil tip. I wasn’t sure at first but they are slightly different, and has a nice feel when using them. I don’t use a screen protector and I like that slight extra grip.
Your video was helpful. iirc, HB is the middle hardness pencil; like the standard #2 pencil. Then as you go up in numbers (2H, 3H, 4H, 5H, 6H - 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B, 6B) the graphite either gets harder or softer. 6H is like drawing with a nail, and 6B can get very dark, but at a cost of wearing down fast. Which drawing app are you using?
What was the cheaper alternative pencil that you used which also fits the replacement tips to the apple pencil. Could you please post a link to that. Thank you in advance.
I got a few such alternatives to the Apple Pencil, they work well but they weren’t compatible with the apple replacement tips. And some of them had their own tips that were sometimes unavailable to be shipped.
Hi can you please tell me what screen protector to buy so that tips don't wear out and I can draw and don't compromise on screen clarity and what tips goes well If I have to take apart from apple store which will work best?? Please 🙏 let me know. ❤
I like the style of the beginning of this video with the little puns/animations every few seconds. Really entertaining to watch. I’d love to learn how you do those. Maybe a future video idea!!
Honestly they’re all about the same. The screen protector has the most effect on the life. For example now that I am using the new iPad with the nano texture and no screen protector my pencil tip doesn’t seem to wearing at all.
@@chris-piascikis the nano screen worth the $ in terms of the upgrade in your opinion? Thinking about getting a new iPad but not sure if it’s worth the extra $
Chris do you have any issues with Fresco or Procreate stuttering while drawing? Meaning like you are drawing a line and it randomly starts putting dots instead of the line, or just shoots a line across your screen?? Fresco is really bad for doing this on me, but also does it some in procreate. Mine has been doing this for a while. I just bought some Apple Pencil tips because I had some generic ones I was using and thought maybe that might be the issue. I’m interested to see if anyone else is having issues like this. I don’t know if it’s my iPad screen or the pencil going bad.
I have had that issue in the past when I’m over due for changing out my pencil tip. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the generic tips have issues from manufacturing imperfections. Over the years I’ve had a couple pencils fail but never my screen. My wife has been drawing on the same iPad Pro since 2018 and it’s never had an issue. I’ve actually never seen anyone have a screen fail in that way. I’d rule out tips first and then the pencil next.
@@chris-piascik that’s good to hear! I would hate to have to replace my iPad. I just checked my mail and I actually got my new tips today. I just put a new one on and it seems like it’s working fine so far, hopefully that fixes my issues!! Thanks for responding so quick btw! Love the channel, I’ve learned so much about Fresco watching you. I used to use Procreate for my tattoo designs, but switched to Fresco because the vector scaling and such clean lines. Keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for puttin this together. Unrelated: Are you editing your own content? I'm looking into finding an editor and we are pretty similar. (so if you hired someone I might be interested)
only things i use is a magnetic mate screenprotector and some original pen tips 2+... wyy didnt u tested the original pentips??? they have three vrions, lite, fiber and the 2+ version...each has different uses...
Magnetic paper feel is the way to go and io hate the real paper like to be honest. Also the orig apple nibs are the best and no 3rd party can come close... that said, i do think you should try the silicone sleeve that goes over the nib with a fiber tip and they are pretty new and dirt cheap but its the best experience i have found in combination with the magnetic paper like.
Shame i cant post images here but on aliexpress you have these silicone nibs that go over the normal one but these new ones have a fiber point to get that paper like feel and to be honest i think they are the best i have tried.... and i have tried most of them.
never getting that 10 min back but hey, that last set of tips look kinda interesting. Not an artist whatsoever so not the right customer for this kind of product. Trying to find something that is the best for just note taking as after typing for so many years my handwriting is legitimately unreadable, apparently even by Apple lol
I bought a selection of appleish tips after watching your video. Thanks for the great video! I love the ones with the black rubbery tips for cleaning up drawings in AI. I can easily hit move and rearrange points in AI. But in fresco the same rubbery tips give me wobbly strokes😢. With my shaky hands The time saved in illustrator is worth switching for me.
Since it’s been awhile since this video, which tips are your “go to” now and have you seen a noticeable difference using them versus the standard tips from Apple? Just curious if there’s really any reason to get any of these aftermarket tips so any feedback you have would be appreciated if you have a minute👍🏻
They’re less of an issue for me now that I’m not using a screen protector because I have the nano texture iPad, and it doesn’t chew through tips. The reason for these options I think is just because they’re cheap.
When I started talking about iPad screen protectors I got a ton of questions and comments about the pencil tips wearing down quickly. Some people go through them very quickly. I can go through several in a month if I’m busy. Most of these alternatives feel the same and are less than a third of the price. Also you can get them the same or the next day in some cases.

oh nice, I imagine a lot of these are manufactured together and just as different brands. Thanks for the TIP though.
Genuine question, are any of these tips can be/ feel better than the actually apple made ones ? Thanks in advance ❤

Glad it was helpful! I’m drawing in Adobe Fresco.
Meeko makes their own stylus with specialized replaceable tips who discs don’t pop off like some. Their stylus works well any os tablet.
Good to know.
Chris, love your videos and the tips/information you provide.
I appreciate that!
Peilinc it is 😊 Thank you for testing all of those . I have the TiMovo from your other video . Going to try these as well
I think that’s a solid choice. That’s what I’ve been using since recording, but I may switch it up today for science.
16:13 H for hard leads , B for softer leads and will give darker mark with less. Pressure.
👍

These are all replacements for the Apple Pencil tips. I linked them all in the description.
Oh whoops I misread your comment, I’ll try to find that one!

After months of usage, which has the best durability? Thanks.

Can we use kingsone stylus tip for 1st gen apple pencil ???
I don’t know what that is, but I’m pretty sure all the Apple Pencil tips are the same.

Take a look at your ipad storage. I’ve heard a few people mention they had this issue when they were running low on storage.
Ive tried not pressing hard on the pencil but nothing stops the tip from wearing down!!😂😂😂
Guess we gotta keep buying pencil tips!!!
I’ve found the PenTips +2 lasts muchhhhh longer than anything else, but it is pricey in comparison.
