I’ve been using a magnetic screen protector for a couple of months and really like it. You know you can wash them with a gentle detergent? It should remove all that dirt and return the protector to almost new.
@@bitesizeart6054 I have two (both appear to be made of the day materials). One is by Bellemond, the other by ESR. The both work well and are easy to clean when required.
Ive been jumping around screen protectors. Im sick of the matte ones wearing down my pencil tips to the metal. So, got the magnetic one. I really like it. Also love just taking it off and drawing on the bare screen. The slip on pen tips aren’t for me. Too squishy. Like drawing on the Gen 1 iPad Pro with the styluses available at the time. Im also quite paranoid so ended up putting a glass screen protector on. Decided to try out the magnetic one and BOOM! It stays in place over the glass screen protector. Best of both worlds!
Thank you I was about to purchase the pro tips and I have had the paperlike screen for a long time and you you just help me decide to stay with my current screen protector
I've been using the magnetic screen protector for three months now, and though it can get grimy, it's also easy to clean with a microfiber cloth and some screen cleaning liquid. Was curious about the pen tips 2 and I'll check them out as soon as I win the lottery. Thanks for the review!
I pre ordered the glove, rubber pen tips, pen tips pro, and the procreate short key pad, and to say the least I’m only using the screen protector and the key pad now. Both pen tips wore out the same day, and the glove is poorly made unraveling the same day. Also the pen tips 2 wore down to the metal and scratched my screen protector. Not user error either. I submitted a ticket about my concerns and was promised replacements and it never came. I was extremely disappointed in my experience.
I'm happy to see this review - I was seriously contemplating getting them as I'd tried th silicone sleeve-tips and found them not great, and was curious to know if these were a better alternative. Looks like I'll stick to matte screen protectors until Apple decides to "do a Wacom" and release an iPad with the option of an etched glass screen.
$50?! In this economy? Yeah, no. Even with the review I thought I’d give them a try, but that’s robbery. I expected them to be like $10-12. It’s three pieces of rubber.
thanks for the review! i am in an eternal struggle it seems trying to find a way to feel comfortable drawing on my ipad. i like having the texture sheets but as you said, they dull the colors. and cheap or expensive, they wear down fast and scratch easy and i can feel it in my own strokes. likewise, i also hate the rubber caps which let me feel every bit of dust on my screen. even the replacement tips are so hit or miss, I've had to return a few just because they made my pen accuracy unusable. the hunt continues! id look forward to any other pen or screen modifications you'd care to do in the future!
I use both a paperlike protector and the pen tips 2. I started off using the slip on pen tips and backed the kickstarter for the pen tips 2. With a (now slightly worn, but crucially, not scratched because of the soft tips) paperlike and the soft pen tips 2, the tips wear through pretty quick. I’m down to my last one after using them on maybe a total of 10 pieces. Now, I push real hard when I draw, and the folks at pen tips seem like they made the hard version just for me so I pre-ordered those. They just shipped last week so I haven’t gotten them yet, but if they last a long time, and as Brad says, if the hard ones feel just like the soft ones, I’m a life long pen tips customer. It just feels amazing to draw with for me. Pen tips + paperlike is an unparalleled drawing experience in my view.
Thanks ! Great information ! In my view the bersam original screen protector is the best I have used ! It has the right amount of roughness for the pen. Any smoother and the writing begins to worsen . I wanted to ask if there is a pen tip or a writing/note taking app that gives a person better handwriting or just optimizes a persons unique handwriting just slightly?
I'd really love to see you try out those pen nibs with a small metal tip ontop (those which makes it look like a mechanical pencil basically). I've seen those around for art a lot because it makes the nib more precise but I'm worried about the performance
Thanks for the review! Upgrading the tips for the Apple Pencil is such a simple yet effective way to enhance the drawing and writing experience. Your detailed review and demonstration have provided valuable insights into the quality and compatibility of these tips. It's always great to have options for personalizing the feel of the Pencil. This product is now on my list for consideration, thanks to your recommendation!
Got the pen tips 2 and I don't know what's with them but I have the Spiegan paper like protector and I don't have that paper sensation with these things on compares to Apple's default tips. After I'm done wit these I'll probably go back to using Apple's
I've never seen my iPad screen without the paperlike because I installed it before turning it on. I do still find the screen still quite firm to draw and write on vs my Huion, which is a much softer surface. Might be interesting to try a softer tip... But $50 is a bit steep.
Hey so I have a matte screen protector too. I got my iPad in mid November (1.5 months ago) and used the protector however my pencil tip is already worn and slightly deformed. How do you deal with the wear? Metal or silicone tips or what?
The best thing I've found for drawing on bare glass is a felt nib. I have both an ipad pro and samsung tab s8 ultra - and on the latter I use a Wacom One Pen with one of the felt nibs for the Pro Pen 2. It's the closest to natural feeling on bare glass that I've found - definitely better than any rubber nib. That said, much like Brad's preference, nothing quite matches the feeling of drawing with a harder nib on a textured or etched glass surface. Most recently I've actually been using these titanium alloy nibs on my Wacom Pro Pen 2 - I got sick of replacing the nibs and they feel really similar to a ballpoint pen on a textured surface !
I’ve had these since they came out, they broke within a day. They’re sending me a free replacement one though so i guess that’s nice. I loved using it for as long as it did work though!
I also have the mat, but find that the magnets don’t match my iPad Pro. I guess the cut out should be for the front camera so it doesn’t block Face ID? But it feels more stable and lines better the other way
i"m glad that I am in the weird niche that actually prefers the original experience of the apple pencil on the smooth glass, saves a lot of hassle and money on add-ons.
I bought the pen tips 2 and all three wore off in a few days of use, paid $50. Yeah that was a waste. I also tried a paperlike but it makes the screen rainbow-y and gets filled with scratches after a couple weeks. I might try the removable magnetic protector but rn the rubber pen tips have been working pretty well for me. You just have to get used to them and you can draw without sacrificing any of the screen quality.
Please make a review of those metallic pen tips. They look like they will last longer than any plastic tip and due to thin end they also looks to be a little precise. There aren’t many reviews of those on RUclips so please give you take on those.
I tried a magnetic screen protector and while I didn't mind the duller colors, the textured feel was a bridge too far for me. It felt way too rough. I'm actually fine with drawing with the stock Apple Pencil tip on hard glass, but since my last one got scratched, I'm now looking into softer tips for the Pencil. I'm not about to pay $50 for them though...so I'm looking into other brands.
A set of three for 50 bucks is really steep. Ppl may not be the biggest fan of apples pen tips, but they ship and arrive super fast, cost 20 bucks and you get four. I’d say comparing those things alone, Apple still has pen tips 2 beat. For 50 bucks, give me 5 pen tips at the least and free shipping. Then reviews consider the soft tips for illustrations are still going to wear out faster than apples own tips. Where’s the deal?
There are tips on Alexrpss that cost a quarter or less of the price for even more tips. They feel like putting on a Paperlike without the diffusion. I highly recommend people go for those rather than these. I don’t mean to call these bad (haven’t tried them), but the cost to benefit ratio doesn’t sit right with me.

I mostly use my iPad for annotating PDFs in GoodNotes. I absolutely have use both a Paperlike AND Pentips to get neat handwriting. For drawing I take the Pentip off. I don't really like the residue that the tips leave on the screen, but I guess it's a small price to pay for proper handwriting. Sadly the regular pentips interfere with those silicone sleeves that you can put on the Apple Pencil to make it more comfortable to hold. It looks like that wouldn't be a problem with the new ones. I would really like to test the hard version of the new pentips, but it's a little bit difficult to justify spending like 50 bucks on tiny rubber tips 😅
I just wanted a pen tip that''s not so large and thick, like well.. tbh most other tablets from samsung or even e-ink ones. I don't have my ipad anymore tho.
The regular Apple ones are $10 per tip so these are nearly $7 more expensive… then again I wonder why no one has done this before. I always thought different texture tips would be way better than those rubber ones you put over the pencil tip

Since the first iPad Pro, I've manage to draw with nothing but the pencil. And now I'm comfy with the glossy felling of it. So no need of screen like paper or special tip. Lucky me. Well there is a downside. Now I don't like to much the feeling of natural pen and paper to draw.
The problem with the "soft" Pen Tips 2 is that they literally wear through within an hour or two of use. They're way too soft. Unless you have a very delicate hand.
I spent a couple hundred dollars trying so many nibs, brands, styles, plastics, as of late and I gotta say after all my 'research' Apple really picked an ideal nib for their pencil. Some of the hard plastic nibs out there are not hard enough and been known to shatter if dropped when they land on the nib. I tried all the various forms of the metal nibs too and as much as I liked them, the novelty wore off and I was longing for the original nib (no they cannot scratch an unprotected screen, it is scientifically impossible according to the Mohs Hardness Scale). I did not like ANY of the rubber nibs out there what so ever. Much like Brad, I will be sticking with my original nibs and matte screen protector, but mine is from iCarez.
I personally would like the tips more than a screen protector à la paperlike. Also because the paperlike comes with bubbles between protector and screen for sure.. But the price tag is really a killer for me (!) So I also might go with a magnetic protector screen. I'm anyway using the iPad more for writing than for drawing.
I wonder if anyone had a good experience with these I backed the kickstarter and had about the same experience as everyone else of the tips failing within hours. Thats the reason why the "hard" version exists, because the original version is going to wear out for you soon.... Anything with apple sucks it seems like. The product and software creators being condescending and dismissive of user feedback.(Procreate cough cough).
I’ve try them. They wear almost in a day revealing the metal nib inside that is not safe for the iPad glass… So for me they are useless and just a joke for that price…

I did not like ANY of the rubber nibs out there what so ever. Much like Brad, I will be sticking with my original nibs and matte screen protector, but mine is from iCarez.
Please do a review of OnePlus tab 😭😭🙏🙏🙏
$50 is wild for 3 tips not even apple charges that
You said hard tips first but you had the soft tip on your pencil
The packaging would cost more than the tips.. zero points for waste packaging👍
I’m using screen protector I cannot draw without it but my problem is I haven’t seen my real colours in 3 years 😂 so maybe I’ll buy magnetic one
All my 3 nibs broke down within a day. Got a refund, still pretty disappointing.
$50!!!?
Hi
A bare screen + microfiber wipe still is the best choice for me.
if theyd just make s-pen nibs for the apple pencil everything would be solved
Hmm wonder if I should spend money on this
I didn't like the ads. No donuts.
$50 for three tips? Third party vendors charge the Apple tax too.
Wake up honey a new Brad video just came out.
$50! yikes
Apple Fan Bois will still by them though.
Wait have you changed your username..? I have always thought your name was Brad Cowboy 🤠😅🤦♀️

Damm
I’ve try them. They wear almost in a day revealing the metal nib inside that is not safe for the iPad glass… So for me they are useless and just a joke for that price…
