Ngl I bought a matte screen protector for my iPad and bought a Huion with a matte protector on it, based on your recommendations from a few years ago, so I am a bit shocked that you have moved on to not using them! Not that artist habits/tools can't change, but it was interesting to see these other options. I am considering the change myself because the matte protector on my iPad is causing some wear and tear issues on the stock Apple Pen nibs. If I decide to ditch the protector I will definitely consider some of these options, so thank for the video as one artist to another!
I appreciate this overview, Teoh. I did just want to mention, though, that reading reviews of specific products is important. I know of some screw-on silicone tips that damage the spring mechanism in the Apple Pencil, which makes the pencil useless. I also use silicone tip covers that don't fall off even with tilt and love them. So it kind of depends on the specific product. 🙂
Great video! Do you think the ones with the black needle tips In the end of the vídeo are more likely the SPen feeling? I really like the SPen feeling like writing on a notebook and I don’t like the hardness is the Apple Pencil feeling like writing on a glass and I hate the tapping sound os the Apple Pencil on the glass... Which Apple Pencil nibs would you recommend as a more SPen feeling like?
All the silicone ones will feel like silicone. S Pen's soft tip isn't really silicone but something else, and is smoother compared to the silicone ones. The black tip is silicone too.
Glass screen protector may affect pen performance. Generally speaking, for writing you want to write fast so (original) plastic tip will write fast with downside being the tapping sound. If you don't want the tapping sound, get the silicone tip but it will write slower since there's more friction.
Thank you for your informative video. I am not an artist but use the iPad to write a lot. I don't use a screen protector and don't want to because it dulls the colors. When using the original apple pencil tips my writing is very neat when writing slow, but when I write fast, presumably due to low friction and lack of control, the writing get very messy. What tip would you recommend for faster but neat writing (more control)?
@teohontech7141 thank you for the quick reply! But what i wanna say is it's when you unscrew the metal tip, those from AliExpress, the core, or sensor, that looking gold point of the apple pencil, there is a tiny hole on mine, on the top. I don't know if the tip I buy from AliExpress, because it's metal, made that tiny hole or not.
@@teohyc yes, it's a good question. I have been researching this for a day, even found a protective cover for the transducer made of copper in Aliexpress, that have the finality of note make a hole. I'm thinking if it's possible when the hole is larger the pen gradually loses sensitivity...
Apple Pencil tip will just wear off faster since it's writing/drawing on textured surface. There's no need to buy expensive matte screen protector when cheap ones have similar quality. Look for brand SuperShieldz on Amazon, cheap and good.
I want to right notes so much ao which tip should i buy from Amazon i am confused because apple pencil tip was bit larger can you suggest for writing notes which tip should I use?
What would the best one to use in combination with a matte screen protector be, aside from the original one? I'm afraid that the metal one might scratch the screen protector
I want to ask if you screw the nib tight or 'just touched' ? I found even the apple one would eventually loosen up, it was my first pencil I thought the design was like this
Hey ! Iam really very curious about the metal tips (or any of those tips from Aliexpress)! Since my budget was low so I bought an apple pencil alternative for my ipad and now Iam dying to get the metal tips ! Will they actually work on my stylus pen (apple pencil alternative) if I buy them ?
hey! appreciate your video! just a question tho, does the metal tip match with the point that you place on the screen? mine doesnt.. it have like a small gap between the actual point of the tip and the ipad when it touch.. or sometimes i didnt even put the tip down and the screen sensor it already..
There shouldn't be a gap. However, the Apple Pencil will actually write when the tip is extremely close but not in contact with display. But most people will of course write with contact.
not related to the video but your voice is so nice!! this sounds like unintentional asmr with your whisper like soft voice and the tips’ sound. u should try making asmr!

As an amateur artist, I'm very grateful for your review on Apple Pen replacement nibs 🙏
noo not the apple chopsticks 😭😭😂😂
They always make people cry, I know 😂😂
you have to pay to be able to use them to eat food
one of them was a 3rd-party digital stylus so no not just apple pencils
Your are using Apple Pencil as chop stick , really creative
🤣

The anti-glare diffusion is quite distracting compared to those matte monitors
I like the matte paper like screen protectors, I can’t stand all the fingerprints on iPad I have to clean daily otherwise
Metal gets me nervous. It might not scratch the glass, but there is a coating on the screen and the new nano coating might be a problem too.

Excellent comparison and presentation, including great insights from all of your experience. Thank you!
This was great to watch thanks for the tips

Silicone tip. $2 on AliExpress
This was so informative. Thank you so much for taking the time to create this video!
the chopstick intro was amazing Teoh haha
Thanks lol
where can we find the last two tips you showed?
I'd love to know as well :) The first black nib style looks like exactly what I need.
Picked up pentips 2+ and while I'm still adjusting to it (I swear Iost the rough sensation on my matte screen with them) they're not worth the $50
GREAT review!!! Bravo! Exactly what I needed, when I needed it.
I'm looking for tips that give similar experience as the Spen on the latest galaxy tablets
There are none that provides the feel of S Pen original nib. Even the silicone one in this video feels more rubbery than the S Pen
If I want to stick with my original glass screen or use my pen along with a glass lcd protector, which tip would create the best “writing” experience?
Glass screen protector may affect pen performance. Generally speaking, for writing you want to write fast so (original) plastic tip will write fast with downside being the tapping sound.

Is the 2b one from aliexpress best for drawing?
Which tip is best for writing notes. Metal or plastic?
Plastic. Metal affects the line
really like the Samsung S-pen, any recommendation? A more rubbery / sponge feeling. Lots of drag
Samsung only has plastic, soft (original) and metal
Your apple pencil has a tiny hole on the core? I put one of these metal tips, and now wondering if the metal tip made the hole...
The Apple Pencil tip is made with plastic with no metal. If Apple Pencil tip is worn, you will see it very obviously, and that's the time to change.

But what i wanna say is it's when you unscrew the metal tip, those from AliExpress, the core, or sensor, that looking gold point of the apple pencil, there is a tiny hole on mine, on the top. I think the word for the "sensor" beneath the tip, and in the point of the apple pencil is "transducer".

None. But the one with more resistance is the silicone one. That $2 one

there isn't but you could proooooobably try the silicone tip?

Matte screen protector won’t affect pen performance that much

The standard plastic tip

I want to ask if you screw the nib tight or 'just touched' ? I found even the apple one would eventually loosen up, it was my first pencil I thought the design was like this
Screw tight without excessive force. It should not unscrew on its own that easily. If so could be hardware problem.

They will work, but the drawing and writing performance is as shown in this video
Hii, The 2b one is better for drawings? Is it?
Hi, have you tried Elago brand? Is that a good buy as an Apple pencil nib replacement? Hoping for your feedback. 🙏
I tried the Elago brand. Unfortunately, after 1 week of using it on my drawings, it easily worn out. 🤧
Did the metal tip scratch the mate screen protector?
I've not tested. Probably not unless you press down really hard.

Yes
Hi, are any of these tips ok to use with nano texture display?
All okay except perhaps the metal tip. Anyway, the nano texture already has texture, so you can just use the default plastic tip
i just want a compromise between the metal and rubber needle point tips. the sound of the metal on glass is a deal breaker for me 😭
honestly i like the number 7 mohs hardness tip
