    [Quick Info]
    The (J) and (Z) are one of a kind lines, that both, being denoted in a cocoa brown, run the same path from Parson Blvd / Archer Avenue Station in Jamaica, Queens to Broad Street in Lower Manhattan.
    During the rush, both lines run Skip-Stop between Sutphin Blvd and Myrtle Avenue and are the only current lines that perform this service pattern (unfortunately wasn't mentioned in the video)
    The equipment the line uses currently are mainly Saint Louis R42s, Alstom R160s and now with Budd's R32s (told ya so!) The line is based out of East New York Yard.

      The MTA shortened the QJ (J) run to Broad Street Manhattan

      AndyCoolGames The Z train IS the J train. As a result, the line runs 24/7.

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer 5 лет назад

      Denshakami ~ Train Goddess First, the common way to refer to the J and the Z is the J/Z. They are considered a single line. Those Z trains are really just extra J trains added to the schedule to make stops the regular J doesn’t.
      Also, that would be a great idea, except that it could cause a loss of service between Broadway Jct and Myrtle Avenue, But I could be wrong. Also, I like the idea of having the Z go to 95th, but I would rather extend both the J and the Z to 95th as they are complimentary to one another and should be treated as a single line. To add to that, another thing to add alongside a J/Z extension is additional service on the D line to provide the same amount of service as in pre-2010, but without bringing it back, especially since most people were going to Chinatown, and the D is faster than the Brown M.

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer 5 лет назад

      AndyCoolGames True, but since the Z is considered a variant of the J, this has to be done in conjunction with scheduling changes with the J, since running times will have to be changed for both lines and crews will need to be found.
      However, this may still not bring enough riders off the Queens Blvd Line. A better plan is to disconnect the Jamaica Avenue Elevated from the Broadway-Brooklyn Elevated by demolishing the structure over Fulton Street. In its place, a new Subway under Jamaica Avenue with three stations would be built connecting the Jamaica Avenue Elevated at Cypress Hills with the IND Fulton Street Line At Broadway Junction. In addition, in conjunction with phase 4 of the Second Avenue Subway, a new tunnel would be built connecting Hanover Sq with Hoyt-Schermerhorn on the Fulton Street Line using the existing Court Street and Schermerhorn Street station. From here, the T would operate from 125th Street to Hanover Square in Manhattan, then cross into Brooklyn via new tunnel, stopping at Court St, before stopping at the reactivated platform at Hoyt. From here, the T would run local with the C to Broadway Junction, and from there, the T will split from the C and run on the new Jamaica Avenue Subway and existing elevated structure to Jamaica Center. This will require stations on the el to be retrofitted to hold longer trains, and there will be a two-track yard connection to the existing East NY Yard. The J would be truncated to Broadway Junction while the Z may be eliminated. While skip-stop service will be eliminated, the overall commute time between Jamaica Center and Lower Manhattan will be much faster than it is now since Jamaica Avenue customers no longer have to first go through Williamsburg and the Lower East Side before reaching Lower Manhattan.

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer 5 лет назад

      Zero Point KKTK TPTS AVGCP AEDCP AFC AFR AFTL AFTW What will cause delays? The J/Z extension or the plan to have the Second Avenue T train take over the Jamaica Avenue Elevated and truncate the J/Z to Broadway Junction.
      Also note that the plan for the T would be done in conjunction with also connecting the Fulton Street Line and the Broadway Line, so that way, the C would be express, and local service on Fulton Street would be replaced by the R, as well as the T to Broadway Jct.
      Also, if the J extension to 95th Street won’t work, neither would a Z train extension, since for all purposes, they are considered one line on the work schedules and in the public timetables. The Z is considered the extra J trains that make stops the regular J does not.
