Joke on her was he knew he was sterile from high school but his father didn't know because he live with his mom. Buddy suspected she was cheating with his dad and played the long game. When the kid was born, he waited until his mother and father came onto the room and told them "he looks just like me, he has his father eyes. Welcome to the world little brother." At that moment everyone else in the room understood what happened. His father tried saying some bs. He told them he didn't use condoms because he trusted his gf, he knew he couldn't get her pregnant. His father and ex ended up having to leave the country because everyone despised them and since the father works for his son, he didn't have a job

If so, I believe the kid wasn't either dear old dad's or OP's kid but another college professor she was also going to pound town with. The ex and dad moved in with each other, but when the kid was born it was obvious that either one wasn't the father and after a paternity test it was confirmed. Dad screwed up so royally he ended up staying with the ex just to have someone in his life.

Alright, unpopular take but in story 1 I think the mom deserves some slack. She was told by her husband and her son’s fiancée that he was abusive and, having no reason to distrust either of the believed it and lashed out. The INSTANT she saw proof of her son’s innocence she didn’t try to double down on the lie or anything like that. She turned her anger on the people who deserved it and immediately tried to apologize. I’m not sure what was said, but I don’t think she’s a bad person. She was sad, confused and angry and believed she had to and was trying to protect the people she loved from someone else she loved. That’s an awful situation to be in. She lost as much as op in their exchange, just from the other side.

But from the sound of it, her and op sperm doner have been together for years, like the soulmate couple years together thing. No lies, happily together til death, confine in each other. So it's no surprising that she believes her husband and L over op since they did technically go to her 1st before op could.
Now that she knows who are the real villains, she did what's right and didn't blame shift or downplay anything. If anything, I would forgive the mom but not forget the things she said.
That's because when it comes to judging her, it would all come down to outcome bias, as per seen in the responses above me. I've read a lot of reddit stories, and the responses to parents finding out stuff like this really depends on the outcome. If a parent "Trusts their family" without a second thought and that trusting turns out to be correct, they are praised for sticking out for their family and being a supportive family member, that a family member should always trust their family in situations like these. If the same thing happens but the trust in their family turns out to be wrong, they are seen to be stupid and horrible people. In this case specifically, the mother had every right to assume what she did when they came up to her. One, the father had visible injuries on his face due to the punch OP hit so that could serve as evidence, and two, there was absolutely no way she was going to assume that her husband was actually sleeping with her son's fiancé and lying about what actually happened, in the exact same way that OP was never gonna just assume that they were fucking behind his back on his own and needed to see it for himself to realize.

I think they frantically concocted a lie, and hoped the mother will be so angry that she won't talk to her own son - which worked, until he showed up at her house in person.
Obviously, since he has the video, it didn't hold up. But chances are, they were so desperate to quickly come up with the reason as to why the fiance should move in with his parents AND why the mother doesn't need to talk to her son, that they didn't think the lie through properly.

Story 1: This is the worst kind of betrayal, your fiancee cheating on you with your immediate family. While L is a POS, OP's father is even more so. No real father would do that to his own son. I'm glad that OP did get help because it really looks like that he was turning to unalive himself which wouldn't be great. He should cut his mom some slack as she was lied to by her husband and L. Story 2: OP should just drop his parents and especially his aunt and uncle. His parents are absolute shit, they just gave him up like that, they lied to him his whole life, they gave him to a abusive couple, did nothing to stop it, didn't take him back, and just tell him now after what 2 decades? And for what exactly? Why do they tell him now unless they want something. I'm glad that he's getting his inheritance under his control than anyone's, especially his aunt and uncle. I disagree with blaming the mom in Story 1. She got mad because she was told by her HUSBAND that their son hit him. She had no reason to believe otherwise since she’s trusted this man for years. While I do think she could’ve chilled out, we need to understand that she would never think her husband would have an affair with her son’s fiancé because of how unbelievable it is. The son should’ve definitely told her mother almost immediately and shouldn’t be surprised that not only his father got to her first, but also that she would believe whatever his father had to say.

I've seen many people in stories like these(well, not this one, but others, similar, with POS family mambers, parents), defend the family like "Come on, they still love you, they're your family, your blood", like WHAT? I get that it's just a small portion of conservatives who believe "family comes before everything else"(your own needs and feelings too, apparently, but the fact that those people even exist is baffling. I love my dad, and he's awesome, he and my mom have been married for 29 years and still going strong, with respect for each other. Even though their relationship wasn't perfect and there were fights. So I know he's not that type of a father. But lets imagine in an alternative universe, I had a family mamber, let alone a parent, who did that, I would unalive them easily.
OP should’ve remained NC with not only his POS father and ex-fiancée. But, also his POS mother. She revealed her true colors when she said all of those HEINOUS things to her own child. Story 1 the best course of action would've been going NC with all of them. Instead of waisting time and effort on a mother who readily believe his cheating dad and didn't have the decency of hearing his side. This really IS Harry Potter. He was led to believe that his parents perished in a car crash, and his aunt and uncle are abusive towards him, and the parents KNEW THIS....and STILL chose to do NOTHING to protect their son. What was so important to them that they chose that over protecting their child from being beaten by his aunt.Where were they when he cried himself to sleep at night, wishing they were there. And then they just show up, out of the blue, with absolutely NO WARNING and just spring the truth on him after all these years, that they are back from the dead. I think he has good reason to be angry with them.

Idk or care if this is an unpopular opinion. But i think story 1 op should be less cold and distant toward his mother. I understand he's angry because of what happened and his mother was berating him terribly. But she's also just have her entire life crumble in front of her. I feel op and his mother should find solice in each other, instead of keeping at arm length. After all, they're both victims.
Not to mention that she was also lied to as well, when told about something through someone you’ve been with your entire life and built a family with, you would take their word to some degree. She probably didn’t want to believe it but a crying girl and bleeding husband was enough to convince her… until she finds out the truth.
She probably doesn’t want to be around her husband either, so while I can understand the guy’s frustration, I’m glad he gave her a another chance at least.
My guess is that OP will forgive her, but in this case, I think you are missing am important part:
The trauma OP had swelling inside him by the time he reached his mother's house was enough that most men would lose their sense of self-preservation and not make it. Then the insults and abandonment she gave didn't just add to the stress, but compounded it many times over to a point that most people would self-delete. But because you aren't privied to his suicide note, you assume he must have the mental fortitude to even have empathy for himself? (BTW, the trauma isn't the same as she only had one pillar crushed while he had all three)
There have been studies on the reason that male suicide rates are so high, especially focusing on husbands/fathers who become the crutch that pulls their family through hard times... what they found is that the one person's mental health that is often the most neglected is the man, as they don't have the luxury to escape from the world and heal.... bills have to be paid, arrangements have to be made, food has to be bought and cooked.... I remember one interview in particular that was quite tellingz the couple were interviewed years later about their grieving process due to a miscarriage. The man was asked how he grieved and he said "Between caring for my wife, making the calls to our loved ones, and making sure to maintain our lifestyle so that our finances won't lead her back into depression... by the time I had a chance to grieve it was 5-6 months later and too late."
In short, OP is too far gone into his own trauma to be any kind of support for anyone. By the sounds of it, he seems to have started to regain empathy a few months later, and might end up bonding with his mom in their grief. But not at the start.
We don't know what it was that she said to OP. There are some things that can never be un-said, and this might be such a case.
