My radiologist said it can be done through the wrist instead of the groin if I wanted to what's your opinion

While the procedure can be performed from the wrist, there are no benefits to this, while there is a slight increased risk in performing the procedure from this approach. Because the radial artery is much smaller than the femoral artery, there have been cases of clot in the artery which is usually not a problem, but in rare cases can be catastrophic. There is also a very small risk of stroke as the catheter has to cross one of the vessels supplying the brain. It is also much farther away from the target (i.e. the uterus) so the extra length can occasionally be problematic if the woman is tall. The bottom line is that the radial approach only adds risk and does not benefit the patient in any way compared to the femoral approach. If someone was massively obese, I would do the procedure from the left wrist; otherwise femoral approach is better. Good luck to you. I hope this was helpful to you.

@@sportsmd85 thank you so much for clarity the only benefit that was mentioned to me is that I can move around as soon as the procedure is finished were the femoral one I have to seat still for 2 to 4hrs after the procedure is done and considering the pain I don't know which to follow..pls advise

@@nneki1 With femoral if they use a closure device as I do, you can get up and walk around at 2 hrs after. You're sleepy until then anyway so the wrist approach just adds unnecessary risk with no benefit in my opinion.
