      @@k80n I saw somewhat of an improvement after my 2nd cycle but I felt like it started reverting back on the 3rd. I had my follow up appointment today and had to do another MRI. Dr. Lipman said the tumor was completely dead and the size has reduced by 50%. He was shocked to hear that I was still experiencing the symptoms. He prescribed me medication and said should help to relieve the symptoms over the next couple of months. He says I should definitely start to see a change in the upcoming months based on my great progress so far.

      I just had the procedure done yesterday. No pain, mild nausea and I’ve used the restroom twice already with very little effort. I’ve only been taking the antibiotic and the anti-inflammatory medication though. I haven’t had to take the metoclopramid -e (for nausea) or oxycodone (pain). I’ve been moving around my apartment a lot. I’m trying not to sit or lie down too much. I read it is good to take the antibiotics on full stomach and to move. Sitting or lying after taking it will cause severe nausea. I am also drinking a lot of water and having soup only. Nothing solid! I’m afraid of becoming constipated. I had it done through my wrist not my groin so moving is easy for me. I hope this is helpful to someone🙂 btw I prayed and ask God to spare me the pain and he did. My fibroids were 17cm and 12cm. Pretty large and I believe it is my prayers that got me through this with minimal discomfort.

    UFE was just coming out of the experimental stage when I had mine done. It was so incredibly painful afterwards. They kept me in the hospital just under 24 hours. I was on a dilaudid drip, but still in a lot of pain. They sent me home with some pain medication. After lying on the couch crying for 2-3 days, the pain was suddenly gone! It didn't decrease little by little. It was just gone! Those first few days were horrible, but I'm sure that was better than recovering from a hysterectomy.

    • @Atlii
      @Atlii  2 года назад +5

      I would discuss this with the Interventional Radiologist that performed the procedure. Some women will have a rough go until their bowels start moving. It's typically due to the narcotic. The bowels then get "sleepy", dilate and fill with gas and stool. This is likely the cause for your pain. If so increasing fluid intake, taking a laxative, and mobility (i.e. walking around) should help. This should be better soon. Good luck.

      No. Sonata is a procedure don vaginally under ultrasound guidance. A probe is placed into a fibroid and radiofrequency energy is used to “cook” the fibroid tumor. The vast majority of fibroids cannot be addressed by this approach and there are typically way more fibroids in the uterus that are left untreated with this approach.

    I had my UFE procedure here in Maryland on Monday, and I'm on day 6 of my recovery. Honestly it hasn't been great. The doctor is 100% right about the constipation--its been hell trying to clean my intestines out and have a normal bowel movement since this started. It really is painful to have waste stuck in there. I haven't done the magnesium suppositories yet, but since laxatives provided temporary (and uncomfortable) relief, and eating fiber wasn't allowed until like day 4 or 5, I might do it just so I can stop feeling bloated with abdominal pain. Also, diet is a big issue because of the pain of constipation. You can't eat on top of that because everything's backed up, so weight loss and feeling weak has been an issue. I tried to eat a simple spinach salad (with Parmesan, salt, pepper, and olive oil) as my first real meal, and I felt nauseous halfway through it. So it's back to applesauce for me until I can find food that doesn't make me bloated or nauseous while my body decides what it wants to do. I also lost a lot of sleep between pill doses and the effects of percocet. I haven't had a solid rest since the day of the procedure, which is also taking a toll on my nutrition. I'm sure this recovery is a million times better than having fibroids cut out (and there's less chance of them regrowing), but its still not pleasant. It isn't the same for every woman's body. Mine is struggling to feel normalcy. Hopefully I'll be able to eat normally and exist normally soon 😕.

    • @Atlii

      Post menopausal women can undergo UFE if its derermined that fibroids are causing bulk related symptoms. You should expect a high success rate just as seen with pre-menopausal women. Learn more at ATLii.com

They were “hungry” during my procedure according to my IR and we made them super angry….I ended up screaming and I’m much better now as I’m on the road to a healthy recovery. Praying the same for you! 💕

    I had mine yesterday and I have to say it was HORRIBLE. Probably because I ended up vomiting my pills and they didn't want to give me second rounds, I dont have kids yet but I imagine the pain I felt it was very similar to the one women experience in labor,,thank God the second day I started drinking my pills with Gatorade that made a huge difference

      I'm sorry that you had a rough go. Did you speak to the Interventional Radiologist (IR) that performed your UFE or was it someone on his/her staff? They should have tried to give you anti-nausea agent. We like Phenergan suppositories. Some patients will get nauseous after UFE. It is usually due to the narcotic medication. Usually this will pass after 24 hours. This also reinforces why it is so important to get your UFE performed by the most experienced IR possible. Hopefully this will resolve soon for you.

      Are you sure we're talking about the same procedure? An ablation sounds like embolization but they are two completely different procedures. Ablation should not be done for fibroid-related bleeding, although it happens all the time. For UFE, the typical recovery is 5-7 days. Some will recover more quickly, but not the next day. Good luck to you. For more information on fibroids and UFE, please visit ATLii.com

      To be considered for UFE you need a consultation with an interventional radiologist that is experienced in performing UFE. Where are you located?

      Please, please consider this as a serious and viable option versus a total hysterectomy! I’ve had the UAE/UFE procedure and I’m feeling amazing just 2 weeks out. Always obtain a second opinion because you don’t always have to have your uterus completely removed. I was told the same thing and I refused to believe that it was my “only option”. I wish you health and wellness! 💕

Is it less painful these days? Do they liquedfy, how do the former fibroids exit the body? Finally how long until my stomach is flatter and this huge bump goes away? Thank you. Ru UK
