    Looking to rebuild my lq9. V6 right now on my single cab, I have a built 4l60e ready to go. Just collecting as much info I can, first timer and want to learn. Trying to max out a “stock “motor” (heads ported, nnbs intake manifold and the throttle body). No nitrous or supercharger till later on. Doing all that work might as well throw a cam right 🤣

    • @TheKingCoopa
      @TheKingCoopa  5 месяцев назад +1

      For sure! definitely sounds like you're on the right path. Only advice I'd give you, is if you think you will go bigger in the future, then make your plans/parts for that. You don't have to do it right now, just plan ahead. like there are plenty of cams that are more supercharger friendly, and will be more beneficial for you in the long run, so you don't have to buy double parts like me. If you're gonna cam it, you will probably need a small stall converter. I'd recommend getting a little bigger stall, so when you do supercharge it, you won't have to spend more money and buy another stall that is bigger. ect. ect. hope that makes sense. but Good luck!! I'm sure it will turn out great!

      @nep639 5 месяцев назад

      @@TheKingCoopa thanks for the info I actually thought about that too, that way I don’t want to put work on the engine later. What stall you reconsidering with? I thought about circle D 3000.

    • @TheKingCoopa
      @TheKingCoopa  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@nep639 my first stall was a 2800 with the 4.8L/4l60e and a 224/226 112+4 crane came (350whp). Great daily driver, drove like stock. My 2nd setup is a built 6.0L/4l80e, 3600-3800 stall by circle D., 234/242 112+4 cammotion cam (470whp). I wish I would have went with a BTR cam (a little more aggressive, and a 4000 stall) but this is also a toy/race truck haha

    I bought my 2002 escalade specifically for the lq9. Its high output specs are. Insrane I heard it could produce 13 -1600 up on stock internals, of course that would of meant when new. But still these were pretty bullet proof for the time and era. And basic maitenence keeps them running strong. Good motor all around.

    • @TheKingCoopa
      @TheKingCoopa  Год назад +2

      Hey, they are definitely a beefy motor. I'm super stoked to drop it in. The gen III rods are for sure good to 750hp. The gen IV are good for 1000hp. I think the world record on a stock 5.3 gen III is like 1430hp set by motor trend. But I'd say the next biggest weak point on the LS is the piston ring gap. With high boost they heat up, expand and will touch. Once they touch they turn up and chunk the corner of the piston off. One good thing about the high mileage "Junkyard" LS motors, with higher mileage the ring gap gets bigger so they can handle that heavy boost. Definitely a solid platform to make big power on! Thanks for the support! 🤘

      @@TheKingCoopa I knows there's 2 trim llevels with the 2002 to 06 6.0 and 5.3 but the 6.0 used the hd tranny to match the power of the lq9. Plus why would anyone want a big heavy SUV and rwd only. And and v8 power should always be the way to go with luxury suv's I this info doesnt pertain to your biuld but just knowing engine knowledge and setups is not a bad thing. 😎👌 can't wait to see your beast breath life soon

      Hey, I fumbled the ball a little bit haha. Life has just gotten super busy and I was getting spread too thin. Couldn't ever get anything accomplished and it was weighing on my mind. So I had to make a few cuts, and YT videos was one of them. Trying to make a YT video once a week is literally a full time job by itself haha. I sold 2 vehicles. I'm down to 4 now, and none of them run lol.... the black truck hasn't ran in 1.4 years. So I'm just trying to get things back on the road right now lol. Plus trying to fix up my house, find a rental property, getting married in 3 weeks, and still have a full time job. Just alot going on. But I am definitely NOT quiting YT. I have a few videos that are already filmed and need to be edited. I could probably get alot more done if I outsourced the editing. The little bit of money I get from YT would all be spent on the editor, but I could definitely get more content out that way. Not posting is absolutely killing my algorithm. I'm planning to get some tee shirts/stickers made here soon. I'll get back into the swing of things here soon. Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it!!!!

  • @dlawson8993
    @dlawson8993 29 дней назад

    When adding lq9 rods and pistons in a lq4 engine do you have to have the crank assembly balanced?

    • @TheKingCoopa
      @TheKingCoopa  29 дней назад

      If the LQ9 rods are from a pre running motor, and stay in the same exact orientation, you should be fine. But its recommended to have them balanced anyways. They are probably off a little bit. But if they are new rods/pistons, definitely get them balanced.

    How’s the build coming along? So ls3 throttle body on tbss/nnbs cathedral intake?

    • @TheKingCoopa
      @TheKingCoopa  Год назад

      Hey, its slowly coming. I would have been done months ago, but I decided to wire tuck the engine bay.... that was a mistake, never doing that again 😅😅
      Correct, LS3 TB with the Xlink adapter, and the tbss/nnbs cathedral intake.

    • @davidwilson705
      @davidwilson705 Год назад

      Haaa I bet that wire tuck is a pain in the ass but will look sweet when done. What’s the x-link for? Are you porting the intake opening for the bigger ls3 throttle body? Appreciate the answers I’m learning. I have a ‘13 avalanche I’m planning a 370 or 408 swap on with ported 243’s also. Thinking of using TEA for the porting of the 243’s and chuy454 for ported cathedral nnbs intake and ls3 throttle body

    • @TheKingCoopa
      @TheKingCoopa  Год назад

      For the NBS the xlink makes the LS3 TB compatible with the older style harness. It converts the pin count/plug and the newer style signals, so the ecu can read it. Yours being a NNBS, honestly not sure if you need it or not.
      The tbss intake is a 90mm opening and so is my 90mm ls3 TB. So I will leave the intake mouth alone. But my heads are done by frankestein, so I will port match the intake runners. A 370 or 408 would be pretty sick! It would definitely make some good power with some nice machined heads
