Thank you I am by no means a how to guy but is some of my knowledge can help somebody I’m glad most of what i do I intend for entertainment thank you again I have a lot of engine stuff in my channel
First time watching any of your videos. Love the content very informative and wonderful video . Thank you for sharing all the details about the process
You literally saved me I ran that cam retainer bolt all the way in and I was driving myself insane thinking I shitted my heads and little did I know about that bolt. You Earned yourself a SUB! Thank you!!
this is awesome. i’ve never pulled a whole motor out/rebuilt or anything. i have an lq4 that has a hell of a tick. sounds valvetrain ish. idk. i want to do something like this tho
Thank you very much. The LS based engines are VERY easy to work with if you have the ability to pull it I say go for it. But be warned it’s an addiction
It really depends too tight you can either have the crank polished or you could order for instants if it’s The crank is turned 10 you could order A under or oversize bearing for that set and a lot of people will do a 50-50 bearing so depending on the situation maybe a 10 and a standard or a 10 and a 20 really depends on what you need but to type typically the best bet is to polish the crank
I did this video a while back not 100% sure but The timing chain guide is used on the 2007-2008 and newer LS-based engines so as long as you’re building a GEN 3 you should not need it
This is crazy man. My best friend was completely blind and he was a gearhead big time anything with an engine he was all for it. The faster and louder the better and he loved working on them. Unfortunately we lost him a couple years ago. This is incredible I’ve never seen anyone else that could do this kind of stuff beside him. You’ve got a new follower pal 🤙
You're actually blind? No joke, sometimes the obvious flies right over my face. I can't believe how well you do by itself, let alone with trouble seeing. This is quite inspiring honestly. Subbed, and thank you for this video. I only noticed because of the name of the channel. 🤣
I have watched about 6 of your videos so far, I have to say I like your approach a lot. No joke, I only knew you had eye sight issues due to the channel name. I know everyone is different so I try not to judge. I am a weird person so it take a large deviation for "the norm" for me to realize stuff like this. I enjoy your humor and seriously enjoy watching you teach. Thank you kind sir, Matthew (if I remember correctly). Great name, I had a brother named Matthew and I named my son after him. (A gift from God, of God) Keep up the good work, I will share your videos as they are quite informative. Have a great day my friend. @@blindguysgarage

Hey brother, im getting ready to build the lq4 6.0. I need a little help getting a good idea of what i need to shoot for, im gonna pull it apart this week. Anything i need to look for pulling apart ti determine what im gonna need to do to keep it in spec to get another 300,000 miles out of it
Best thing to do is have the block fully checked and machine at local machine shop check the piston to wall clearance in the cylinder wall and check the rod and main bearing clearances as for lifters just replace them with a good known brand unless seven replacement
DO NOT stop doing this channel. You are doing all the right things. You just meet time for the viewers to find you. Are you really blind?? I'm so confused but fascinated at the same time
I am legally blind as a matter of fact I just went to the DR Monday and our Ed that I have next to nothing in my left eye to e plane a little farther I car barely see a 1 foot H from 6 feet away I think it is time for me to do a short vid on myself and why I am BlindGuysGarage thank you for watch and I love knowing people are enjoying thank you again for your comment
@@savagetackle66 Thank you as long as I can do it I am going to been building engines for years with a lot of people most are older and are no longer with use but miss them all
@@blindguysgarageHello I own a Chevrolet express 6.0 LQ4 with 90,000 miles, I live in France in a region where the climate is temperate, I do 6000 miles per year, I drive mainly in the summer, and I tow a 6000 lbs trailer, should I stick to the oil recommended by the manufacturer 5W30 or can I use a 5W40 for example???
@@Langloiswad I would probably stick with the manufacturers recommendations at 90,000 miles and just keep the oil changed as you should and all should be good
It was like $700-800 around there but cleaned honed new cam bearing then the heads where done for around shaved pressure checked and new seals this is kinda normal for what I do with these and around there in price
dude im impressed af i just realized your blind thats why youre looking for the holes with your fingers i was like whats he doing that for lol. good for you man proud of you thats awesome
I’m not hating on him or anything but seriously is this guy really blind? Like partially or fully blind?? I jus don’t understand how he knows where every bolt is on the engine building it, like he doesn’t even have to feel around for where each thing is he jus go straight to it with a socket like a normal seeing person would do so I’m jus curious how that’s possible being blind?
Nvm looks like he’s partially blind right? But shoot either way the dude is awsome!! Props to anyone that can build an engine especially being partially blind he’s the man!! 🙌🏽
I would love to have mine done. What is average cost. 177k and runs great except a knock on cold start. Would love more hp and torque but worried about losing factory idle.
These typically cost somewhere around $2500 to do a rebuild on as far as getting a little extra power we could put a small cam in. It would be additional dollars for the Cam and lift her set, but well worth it in the power gains.
It depends on what you need I buy all my bearing and rings from my local machine shop and then go online and buy a cheap gasket set for the engine. Then I perches Felpro head gaskets and bolts at local parts store it work out cheaper doing it this way as for the gasket that coke it the cheap gasket kit i just don’t trust them
And I just realized you’re blind which makes it a thousand times better. Keep it up
Thank you again been like this my hole life you lurn to live with it
