    I really enjoyed this concept and the look of a smooth intake looks really neat. Good job.

    Sick finish on that 👍🏼. It essentially looks like a concept of a high rise intake but that paint job is killer !

      Just the same as any truck intake, really, lol. I haven't ran it a whole lot yet, I'm still making adjustments to the tune. They aren't bad intakes, they make power close to the ls6 intakes according to the tests done by Richard holdener here on youtube. It's easiest for me to use the truck intake so I don't have to swap my accessories to car style

      @@SargentRestoration awesome. Yeah I know those intakes are pretty good. I’m doing a LS2 / LS3 hybrid build right now on my 05 gto. I’m watching a lot of videos on intakes. I’m using ls3 heads so I know this intake wouldn’t work without adapters and I’m not doing that lol. It was just a cool video so I watched it lol.

    Need to fix ur microphone, but besides that tight work. Very thorough and attention to detail👌 Was planning on upgrading to one of these for my Monte SS

    Nice job just a fyi the brake booster vacuum line can go where that plug is now on the back of the intake they make one that snaps in place of that plug.

    • @SargentRestoration
      @SargentRestoration  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yep I have one. I also threaded in a few additional vacuum ports into the back

    Awesome, see...i told ya i was gonna check you out. Very cool!!! I will be doing that to my 4.8 intake soon. About how long did it take you overall??

    • @SargentRestoration
      @SargentRestoration  5 месяцев назад +1

      Not real sure. if I had to guess, atleast 6-8 hours, but I also went a little overboard with it by nitpicking my own work, lol. It can be done in less, I'm sure. I just spent a few nights after work here and there on it

    Looks nice now but that paint sucks big time around chemicals. Takes forever to dry and is expensive as well. Ever tryed Kirkers budget line of paints?

    • @SargentRestoration
      @SargentRestoration  6 месяцев назад +1

      I had some leftover from a buddy that wanted a bumper sprayed cheap. I have not tried them. This one is more of a test run for me

    • @zakn3954

      I have not tried all the brands of paint ever paint but I like it for the price and availability. They even have a basecoat converter/effect stabilizer so adding HEAVY metal flake into their clear or spraying metallic base coats has been EZ. Most cheap paints don't offer this product; House of Kolor does but it's $$$ for their system. Oh and allegedly Kirker makes a fair amount of the Summit line budget paints...
      I did a couple of guitar bodies years ago with this Duplicolor and was never that satisfied; the clear never really cured and would mark easily. Also seemed to run easily compared to the Mohawk line of paints.@@SargentRestoration

      Cosmetics, really. Lots of guys in the LS4 community run these because they're relatively easy to make work in the w-body platform. The factory LS4 intake is the worst performing intake ever produced for the LS platform so the truck intake makes significantly more power over the stock setup. Other people shave them for other applications because the intake performs pretty well compared to other options, but they look God awful without the beauty cover lol. I built this one to test it out and see how long it holds its luster

    Is the intake made of ABS plastic?

      Yes!

      Instead of plastic welding, I would suggest chemical welding with a product called Weldon 16. It will never break at the joint, it will break somewhere else. I've used the stuff for years and I swear by it

    powder coating or black chroming will handle that heat much better

    • @SargentRestoration
      @SargentRestoration  6 месяцев назад +3

      It's a plastic part, it would melt if you tried to bake it in a powder coat oven.
