Paul @ Photo Genius.
You are the best that could happen to us learning photographers.
Thanks for the video! As always... GREAT VIDEO!
Hi Paul, another interesting and informative video, thanks for sharing. As a user of BBF on my D3500 I have my focus mode set to AFC all the time and press the focus button when I want to track focus, once for static subjects, and continuously for moving ones. I find this gives me the best of both worlds. Its a good point about not always shooting at wide apertures, and I find that on a crop sensor camera that depth of field is rather more generous even when shooting wide open, something that if I ever move up to full frame I'll have to take much more care over! Thanks again for another of your crystal clear videos making what can seem like witchcraft into simple common sense.
Excellent advice Paul, thank you.
Georgia is so enchanting, she belongs in the Land of Enchantment. Oh, and by the way, another great video
Thank you for making this video. I have learned so much.

This video is very useful tutorial... Liked.
Thank you.
Very useful info.
Beautiful model
Самые элементарные сведения о портретной фотографии, но интересно. Спасибо, иногда полезно повторить и основы.
Спасибо за просмотр, ценю.
Good job fam
Yes very interesting video and your model very Beautiful
Having spent two weeks in Scotland i realised how bad my technique has become, a lot has changed since my OM10 and OM4 of the 80’s. Your videos encouraged me to start from scratch, I’m now having plenty of manual fun with my Nikon.
In the old times, we used to look through the viewfinder and focus on the eyes. It seems that now we have to tell the camera where to focus on. Progress? Perhaps not.
Tip 1: Get a gorgeous model.
Cool.
Great video Paul, most of it was above my camera skills so I will go back to your basic tutorials you did, I think because of covid I haven’t been using my camera as much as I would like so back to basics for me, thank you Paul
Georgia is the best! We know her from her work with huxnboss
Yep, we love working with Georgia. Check this portrait challenge video out too : ruclips.net/video/OX9UY3AB3fA/видео.htmlsi=SUdhzS3E2mVhoQVW
Hello Paul.with my cannon oes1300d. With my memory problems. I have only used my camera the basic way I have four lenses plus flash to go on my camera and two tripods.i want to go to the next level can you help.
Is there a downside of using Servo AI on a portrait shot? 🤔
I mean I like using it cause I can move around to vary the angle, while still maintaining focus via back button. Plus there's also eye detection.
Love your videos and tips, but i have a Sony camera and it's not the same as the 2 cameras you show where to find the place to set the camera, do you have a Sony to show as well?
Hi Paul, very helpful tips thanks for sharing,My question is I have a Canon70D with a 10 - 18 wide angle lens, the focus ring is my problem should I be in MF or AF for this lens
How do you focus when trying to do a group picture? Do you focus on the eyes of the person infront in the center? Please advise on group potraits.
I think the general idea is to use a narrower aperture, so an increased depth of field results in more of the image being in focus ( so you don't get important sections of the image out of focus, maybe try f8 to begin with.) You might need to increase the ISO to get a sensible shutter speed if the light isn't too great. I hope this is useful.
Use good light….I mean more light. F11.
How about studio lighting ✨ do you have a vidio on that?
😘😻🖤💜💜
Great tips, great model and an easy to follow tutorial. I love Nord VPN by the way. I'm in Yokohama but last night I used it to watch the Grand National on ITV :)
Great content yet again any chance on a review on the cannon EOS RP looking at it for my first camera and would love your a pinion on it .
Hey Paul, Thanks for the video. I have a question about the lenses please. I use canon RF, and I've got RF 85mm MACRO f2 lens for portrait photography, the output is really nice, but when I'm at a distance during outdoors sessions I don't get good focus, I mean good sharpness on the model's face, so, is this usual? should I adjust something? or maybe you'd advise other lenses? maybe the 85mm f1.2, or 24-70mm? what do you preferr for outdoors and studio shooting please? I have the Nifty-Fifty by the way, but I thought to ask about the real deal.. Thank you in advance!
Hi Paul love watching your videos, my daughter rides racehorses and would love to get a really sharp picture of her going up the gallops. I have a Canon camera 4000D and also have a telephoto lens, what sort of settings would you recommend please.
Highest shutter you can do, and maybe an f/5.6 or higher, even if you need higher iso. Also, shoot her coming at you, you'll get sharper shots than tracking her side to side.
@@AdrianTache Thank you so much for that information, will try that out next time..
Sounds like you have a cold Bro !
Красива модель
Hello Paul. I have a Nikon D3400.
In my camera I have this little black spot . It's actually in the camera, not in the lens. So is it not repairable anymore ? cause I tried to clean it myself but the spot still doesn't go. and I get this spot in every picture I take with high aperture.
If you have another lens, see if the "spot" is still in every shot with a different lens. If it is, then the problem is as you suspect, with the camera. If not it is with the lens. In any event, find the problem item and I would suggest you have it professionally cleaned. Most likely it is simply dirt.
@@steveboys5369 ok thanks man
@@mehedikarimutsho5190 you are most welcome.

Thank you 👏
DO YOU HAVE any strong opinions of your PocketWizard Plus III (plural)?
Hi Kent,
To be honest I don't actually use them that much, but I can tell you that when I do they are rock solid and do exactly what they are meant to. There are of course chewer alternatives - for me, I think they were a good investment.
Thanks for watching.
Paul.
@@photogenius I HAVE FOUR of the PW beasts, but they've been nothing but headaches since the day I bought them. They go to sleep and cannot be awakened in time to get the shot. Often, I cannot awaken them within fifteen minutes. Five years ago, I had LONG talks with PW HQ. They claimed the Plus III CANNOT go to sleep. That was nonsense, as most tutorials explain the sleep function and the fact that it is indicated by the coffee bean/half-coffee bean on the trigger's LCD. A half-press of the trigger has never awakened them in my experience.
A woman there finally asked me to send them to her for a check-up. When finished, she called and said she could find NO issues with any of them. I've been in photography for thirty years. I know how to follow the instruction manuals. The only "helpful" advice she had was that I/we should use only Ray-O-Vac batteries with the triggers/receivers. All other brands, she said, are "too hot" for the PWs. I tried it. It worked for a while. After four months, they went right back to the miserable "sleep" problems.
Three months ago, I replaced 'em with FlashPoint triggers.
I have four PW Plus III (plural). Bought 'em for $165 ea. If anyone would like to buy 'em from me, I'll sell them for $80 ea.
Georgia is extremely beautiful
Nikon 85mm s is 1.8 not 1.4 !!
imran Khan love you
Women name please
You're talking about focus, and never mentioned aperture.
Fail.
Why does it always have to be a female model? So typical
