Gavin, I've been watching your videos and learning from them for well over 10 years. It's interesting to see the differences and similarities in your videos from then until now. I'm pretty sure I learned how to do water drop photos from you, and a bunch of other 'fun-to-do' shoots. Thank you for over a decade of entertainment!

Thanks for covering techniques that use minimal equipment. For a variety of reasons, we might not be able or willing to use a lot of high end lighting gear in a given situation. Being able to do more with less is a clear sign of higher level of talent. :)

Nice job, studio photography with speed lights in my opinion is incredibly useful. Dialing a 600watt main down for these would be difficult. I also have used speedlights outside at night using street lights and lit commercial windows as a background. Fun stuff.

You know I'm perfectly happy with my Canon 6D but I do envy you one thing..... eye-detect focus. What a game-changer that must be for a portrait photographer.
Anyway Gavin, another great video. I'm presenting to my local photoclub in 2 weeks "Studio protraits on a budget". I'll mostly be using information from this tutorial, as it's exactly what I want to demonstrate.
I have a nice collapsible softbox like yours but I'll be using an extremely cheap NEEWER shoot-thru umbrella setup. They cost peanuts and take everything to a higher level than the on-camera flashes the club members mostly use.
Thanks for the video. If you're ever in the South West of France I'll trade you some accommodation for a 2 hour demo at our lovely little club.
