@@josephrichardson4352 cmon lets not pretend as if its so hard to understand. Its has little to do with connection, but more to do with purpose. Aka if they die as a byproduct, a poor life is wasted. But if they die on our plates, then their lives had meaning, as we put them to good use. Its the same notion with native hunters respecting the life which had to die for them. One such story i have was at a sashimi buffet, many years ago. So being a buffet, people took more than they could eat (as normally seen). At the end, there was some food which people didnt want to finish. And then i had a friend say, "Its sad if the fish isnt eaten, their lives would have been wasted. Please eat it guys.." And you wanna know what the others said? "NOOPE, fck that shit. If she feels so bad for the fish, she can finish it herself." Dont go bothering me with your cultural morals.
It's hilarious to see all of the "debunking" videos on youtube for every subject possible. RUclips exists at this point to do nothing more than help confirm biasses.

@@v.a.n.e. So let me get this straight. We are talking about a movement that aims to reduce pain and suffering in the world, that promotes love and compassion for each other and encourages us to stop supporting the mindless execution, torture and rape of sentient beings for our own selfish desires and you want me to run away from that? That's not gonna happen.
Kudos to all the people and organizations who made Seaspiracy possible, everyone needs to know the impact of the fishing industry and thanks to people like Ed and other activists who spend their time to debunk the self interested organizations trying to counter the documentary’s clear arguments against commercial fishing industry. 👍🙏🏻
@@martimribeiro7538 you can always try catching and killing the fish yourself, but I doubt you would have the time, energy, knowledge and/or resources... And if you did, you would definitely end up converting to large-scale business models to compensate for losses (monetary or intangible) or just out of greed really. All industries start small, but our system induces "natural selection" into larger businesses, usually through some kind of phagocytosis. The problem lies in the product you want (fish, or any animal really) MUCH more than in the method you choose, though that plays a relevant role as well.
@@nishkamkarma5591 your plants are full of lectins, phytates, naturally occurring poisons and other anti-nutrients that lock out whatever nutrition the plant has. I’ll take my chances with animal products 👌💪
Buddhism isn't against eating meat -- I am from a Buddhist country and meat consumption is increasing. The Buddha himself ate pork as his last meal before he died. In the ancient texts there are people who criticised the Buddha for not being vegetarian, and in the present day there are ascetics who abstain from consuming animal products but this is definitely not the majority view within Buddhism.
You can cherry pick all you want from religious texts, but I would advise against it. Use moral and ethical principles for yourself and to convince others.
@@studyourconstitution5885 I'm not sure if your are replying to me, but I agree with you. The original comment was cherry picking a quote attributed to the Buddha, whereas in Buddhism, even the philosophy of "suffering" is fundamentally different to how it is used in modern society. Having said that, when talking to a Christian, Buddhist or Muslim, it is important to at least understand the history of their religion, how it shapes their values, and how it fits in with veganism.
@@plants8564 How do we know what is a "myth" or what isn't? By reading the ancient texts. That the Buddha ate pork is accepted within the Theravada tradition. Regardless, there are philosophical dialogues where the Buddha explicitly went against mandating vegetarianism (e.g. when challenged by Devadatta). When the Buddha talks about "suffering" he is talking about desire and craving. So according to Buddhism it is OK to eat meat so long as the ascetic does not crave it. Similarly, it would be against the Buddha's teaching to crave a bowl of lentils. I've debated/discussed veganism with Buddhist monks and the excuses they make are that it is the animal's karma which was predetermined by deeds of previous lives. Buddhism is quite apathetic to material suffering, since the end goal is ultimately a spiritual annihilation. It's important to understand the context of a quotation before subscribing to an ideology. I can quote Hitler being very sympathetic to animal suffering, but I do not do so because I disagree with his overall ideology.
All the controversy regarding this eye opening documentary is just critics and big companies cherry picking information to make themselves look better, as usual🙄
maybe because there's a lot of false claims in this "documentary". for instance the "it takes 5-20kg of fish to produce 1 kg of salmon".. even logically that dosent make sense. and it dosen't hold any truth. that's also why they are forced to remove it now.
@@andreasnrgaard8064 Why does that logically not make sense? They eat and excrete, just like us. Do you grow by one kilogram for every kilogram of food you eat?

Seaspiracy just revealed the dangerous clownery and foolery of the 🤡 fishing industry 🤡! It was devastating to watch this documentary and all the other knowledge that has come to the surface but truly necessary! Thank you for this video, Ed!
I watched Seaspiracy a few days ago. Man's said "shocking" at least 6 times. The whole documentary is brutal, maniacally hilarious even. But really, how is everyone turning a blind eye? How can people possibly not care? How do you live in comfort knowing everything is getting fucking fucked in the ocean?
What I’m most surprised as I put an amazing life changing documentary up for people to watch on Netflix but no one comments. I put something superficial and everyone comments.

I love seaspiracy. I live in the Caribbean and chinese trawling boats come into our waters and take a lot of fish from our waters. Our local fishermen are not getting their usual catch as it has significantly reduced. Fish prices are sky rocketing. Although we usually eat a combination of fish, veg, provisions and Bush meat many people rely on the sea for food. They are also dumping waste in our once pristine waters. I'm not a vegan but I eat 94% veg, less than 5% fish and local shrimp and under 1%processed meats. I'm trying to incrementally decrease my use of meat
sorry to hear about that. the unfortunate reality is that, the chinese communist party just doesn't care, they probably think it's justified if any reason. behind closed doors they are massive racists who think the han chinese are the master race and any suffering of chinese minorities or non-han chinese in general is justified. eventually, this will become a big enough problem people will start 'dealing' with these chinese vessels on sight, and rightfully so.

@@kh_qft762 It's a comforting idea that everything is doomed anyway but that is factually incorrect. Every single bigger systematic injustice will vanish over time. People don't change, that is correct. They can't because of how the human brain works. Rarely do people change positions past a certain age. Be it slavery, human torture, women not being able to vote, racism etc. Old positions die because people die, younger generations being more educated, more research, attention and evidence. 20 years ago we didn't even really know if fish could feel pain. But it turns out they can and some can even recognize themselves in mirrors. Statistically speaking, a lot of things will change. You are right: Not a single animal but millions instead will be saved. But we are past that already. It's not about single animals anymore. It's about the global environment and ecosystem. Every single honest person already realizes that. A lot of things need to change and they will change. Just takes some time. And next time you should phrase your comment better. It's not really clear if you meant to play the position of the industry or if you are writing as someone from the industry, being triggered for some reason, writing factually incorrect things. Don't worry. Its not about you. You will not change. But societies change. Always have been. Or do you see Nazis and slaves everywhere? ;)
@@bdarecords_ As long as there is money to be made in this industry, it will go on. Human nature and greed are much more compelling arguments than your delusional idealist thinking. And to answer your incredibly idiotic question, yes there is still slavery, you just don't see it in your pampered little bubble in the west because slaves have moved from your back yard to overseas, yet they still exist, in much more massive numbers. I hope one day I can be an animal activist like you! Thank you for everything that you do!! 🙂
Earthling Ed's video 'Vegan visits a dairy farm' made me go vegan a few years ago after being vegetarian for just over a year. I felt that being vegetarian just was not enough. Becoming vegan was the best decision I've ever made. Thank you so much for the life changing person you are, Ed.
Your 30 minute talk came up as an ad on a youtube video I watched the other day. Despite its length as an advert, I watched the whole thing. I have always loved animals and for the first time I saw past the “healthy and balanced” bullshit argument that people use to defend eating meat. I then watched Seaspiracy and that clinched it for me. Every sad thing I had seen over the years to do with animals came to the forefront of my mind and I am now proudly vegan. I still have a few things in the fridge which are not but I won’t be buying those again and I am learning every day what I can do and I am very happy. Thank you for this video too, it all helps. You are doing a wonderful thing. Thank you for protecting those who cannot protect themselves. I am so grateful you helped me become a vegan. All the best, Carissa, vegan as of 10.04.2021.
Thanks for this video, I was really looking forward of your point of view. We watched Seaspiracy on the week of its release. I never knew the dire situation our sealife is in. Fortunately we haven't been part of the problem for over three years now.
As someone who’s had avid interest in marine biology but hasn’t seen the film yet, anyone who doesn’t think there’s been sizable human impact on marine ecology has been living under a rock. We’ve known of the garbage patch, population decimation of marine life, and in some cases removing specific species from ecosystems entirely, and even coral degradation of the barrier reef.. for several DECADES. The only reason it hasn’t reached terminal levels is bc the ocean is just that tenacious (and huge). At this point it’s like talking to people who clap their ears and yell “Lalalala” to themselves.

The more I learn about veganism the more I realise that it's probably the best thing you can do to live more sustainably. Even without the argument for the welfare of animals (which an important and powerful one I think), you should still go vegan purely for environmental reasons.
Thanks Ed!!! I wish all the scientists and experts who are going round trying to reassure everyone that ‘Don’t worry! things aren’t THAT bad’ watch this video!! don’t feel guilty, they are part of your family and you’re feeding it to them because they actually need it. You’re still a vegan and you try your best to fight against animal cruelty and that’s what matters
Milo, Don't beat yourself up over it. dogs and cats eat meat. Cats can't live without it. It's not a perfect world. We can only try our best. I am a vegan of many years but unfortunately I have to buy meat for my companion animals until there is a viable alternative.
Hench Herbivore did a video fairly recently about a study on cats being fed a fully plant-based diet vs cats fed the standard meat based diet. Very interesting results. Check it out. 😉 Should be fairly easy to find on his channel.
Just a little fact, the amount of fish species threatened by fishing is more than the amount of fish of both climate change and pollution put together (based on IUCN data). That’s not to say climate change and pollution are major issues. Just shows how much destruction commercial fishing is causing😬
Cowspiracy was responsible for me going Vegan so I appreciate these documentaries, but I really didn't appreciate the white saviour tones of the guy especially when he was in Japan. He could have platformed many activists in Japan, Liberia etc but he didn't. There was literally 1 person of colour and it doesn't really help POC feel included in the Vegan movement when these things don't get considered.
Well done, Ed. Your reply is like a postscript to Seaspiracy, lots of useful information here. For me, the take away reasoning you gave is that when so many huge companies are fishing 'sustainably' then it's not sustainable. Excellent and glad to see the vegan ending.
As expected, the usual deflection and distraction as well as weak counterpoints from the naysayers, all so they can ignore the main message. Great job Ed.....
okay YES to the point about "why are people sad about dolphin deaths when they're paying for tuna deaths." This was my big question basically the whole film. Speciesism is real!! I thought the film was great and your commentary was really great too
Not even two minutes into the video and I'm so happy you pointed this out. My family is from the costal area of southern Nigeria and because of people in the West destroyed the fishing industry and polluted the environment a lot of villagers and city folk have had to resort to bush meat. When I was 13 waaay before I even considered going vegan my mom brought bush meat back from Nigeria. It was to show us that we shouldn't be picky since bush meat was what most villagers could get if they wanted to eat meat daily. It was dried and preserved (look up how Nigerians do it if you're curious) but she didn't even know what kind animal she bought 🤢. For costal villages in third world countries this issue is so important so I'm glad you brought this to light.
Because Dolphins are mammals not fish. Wouldn't you say, in general, it is worse to kill mammals than simpler life forms like fish with less capacity to suffer, feel pain, etc? I'm not necessarily saying it's OK to kill fish, but would you not agree killing mammals worse?
@@entropy2728 I say it doesn't matter which group one is in. Octopii aren't mammals yet are held in very high regard when it comes to sentience. More people refuse to eat octopii on the grounds of their brain capabilities than those who refuse to eat pigs.
@@entropy2728 I wouldn't, because fish are not less capable of feeling pain and being tortured than dolphins. All harm to those who can suffer is equally abhorrent.
@@GregVidua Fascinating about the octopodes, I have read up after you mentioned them. Clearly, our knowledge is very limited especially regarding sentience but no doubting their intelligence. I definitely agree I wouldn't necessarily make it about groups I was using it more as a generalisation for the purpose of my above comment. Although it is reasonable for us to assume how similar the more advanced mammals suffering/pain etc is to ours. I respect the vegan position and have recently become a pescetarian with the aim of gradually cutting down. A question to you then to challenge your philosophy(and mine) - is it morally acceptable to breed and own cat's if they by necessity must eat many animals over their lifespan to live and survive if you are saying groups do not matter?
Although I'm a vegan of 3 months, fan of Ed (watched pretty much all his content and favorite public vegan activist) and of Seaspiracy, I feel the need to criticize 4:34. I think Ed is assuming too much here. No matter how right Seaspiracy might be about the majority of the film, there is an actual established pattern in the movie of pretty "aggressive journalism", interrupting people sometimes unnecessarily in interviews just to make a "gotcha" scene, trying to pretty much draw narratives that every single person working in these industries is a crook, and in 4:34 in particular they were asked to turn their cameras off (yet kept recording anyway btw) and there's no telling how much of the clips we see are actually in context or if the documentary crew skipped some parts where the CEO of the coalition came in and the documentary immediately skips to the CEO asking them to shut their cameras off in less than 5 seconds, and then a second later skips to the CEO being fixated on whether her own staff suggested "eliminating fish" as a solution, painting these guys as "completely irrational and unwilling to talk to us" when they clearly were happy to for a while, but then at some (for us completely unknown) point the CEO had enough. Just from the clips Ali included in the movie I honestly don't think calling his behavior as "bullying" is too far off. There's a thin line in journalism between asking critical questions and just being an asshole. Krishnan Guru-Murthy for instance is a great example of that.
Shalom brother, may you be blessed for looking out for the beautiful animals YAH created. I pray one day the animals will have freedom to live without oppression and abuse existing. The part about plastic pollution and why they aren't talking about industrial fishing WAS addressed in the documentary....the guy checked all these environmental agencies donor list and alot of the them are funded by industrial fishing companies Which is why that one lady FREAKED out when her PR director or whoever it was suggested cutting down on/cutting out fish consumption.
@J Lyon Thing is I find is that going vegan is different for everyone. Sometimes it really isn't for everyone and other times it can actually be really beneficial. I have personally found it beneficial for my health so it's different for everyone.
@J Lyon @J Lyon nope, you're just wrong. Good luck with your cows milk and osteoporosis in 30 years tho. Just saying, you NEED to suplement vitamin D and b12 even if you're eating animal products. So your "any diet that requires a supplement" is just not true. Still, you haven't answered my question. Have you seen a dietitian? Are you a dietitian? if no, how the fuck would you know if your diet was balanced? Did you count the calories, the fats, the protein and the carbs? Vitamins and microelements?
When I watched the documentary and then saw the complaints about it, I also wondered 'how can you take something like that out of context...?! You said it didn't you?' I'm glad you thought that too, and thank you so much for the extra information!
The filmmakers were bullying them? Give me a break! This is just a "shoot the messenger" type of reaction. The questions asked made them uncomfortable, they were being called out on their BS and just did not like it...
Glad more people are seeing the truth. Dr. Sylvia Earl has been saying this for decades that we need to stop eating seafood and urging us to stop supporting this horrible industry. Documentary Mission Blue - another good one. Thank you Ed!
Hate to break it to you all, but growing crops (vegetables and grains) requires nitrogen and phosphorous. The mining of phosphorous is horrific on the environment. WORSE still, the nitrogen and phosphorous gets into the water table, drain into the sea and cause "dead zones" destroying ocean diversity. The zones are increasing. (a BIG reason why fin fish are disappearing and squid are thriving) As this increases, with more crops we grow to eat, the seas will slowly become lifeless and then we are in trouble. So, stop eating plants as well. Sorry. (Subsistence farming, like subsistence fishing is different) The problem is SCALE. And humans... we are a problem. Only eating plants will also drive the death of bio diversity.
I haven’t seen seaspiracy yet but reading the book the outlaw ocean 3 years ago was the catalyst for me becoming first vegetarian and later vegan. Our oceans are literally the birthplace of life. It’s time to get on board with preserving life for all of us.
This documentary finally made me go veggie for good. I can’t believe how much I never knew about the fishing industry. I hope many more make the change x
2:20. Agreed. I’ve watched Sea Shepherd’s work in multiple regions across the seas and they’ll always find ghost nets. They’ve even recorded the wanted fleet of the Bandit Six leaving their illegal gill nets near Antarctica and then Sea Shepherd took numerous miles of their nets out of the ocean.
Thank you so much Ed for all the work that you do. I’ve had several attempts with veganism in the past and I didn’t have so many tools to sustain it. And I’m Filipino and majority of our dishes have meat! And growing up, I’d see my family, neighbors, relatives, friends kill animals for food. All our celebrations-- birthday, reunions, Christmas, fiestas require lechon. But September last year, I gave veganism anotjer and I have now reached the point when I couldn’t look back. Your videos have solidified my lifetime commitment to veganism. I don’t miss eating animal products at all.
Don't listen to that mean Novus Ordo. He's having personal problems. I think he wants to be Vegan but probably got stuck at cheese.

“May all that have life be delivered from suffering.” -Buddha 😌

21:07 That zoom in cut with the cold hard truth stated as a matter of fact is
Is Dolphin safe label really a thing? What makes Dolphin's lives more precious than that of other fish?
People consider them smart and cute. It's all that counts, eh?
Great points made Ed! I watched it last week and the vegan fire within me started burning harder again!
Shalom brother, may you be blessed for looking out for the beautiful animals YAH created. I pray one day the animals will have freedom to live without oppression and abuse existing.
Let's all pray for Truth to enter the hearts of all of mankind, including ourselves.
Recently my dog of 14 years passed on to heaven and even though I always love animals he was my brother and best friend... He showed me on an even deeper level the consciousness of animals and how pure their souls are. Let's please pray and do all we can to make life a beautiful, peaceful and joyful experience for all life.
HalleluYah and may anyone who reads this be blessed always 🙏🏽🕊❤
It is undoubtedly powerful, that's why there are so many people that are arguing against it.
This documentary, along with watching "The Milk System", have made me turn vegan two weeks ago. There is literally no turning back for me now. I have firmly decided I don't want to participate in any of that
You're the best ED! Keep up the amazing work!
Ed- you were the first vegan activist I listened to and my favorite to this day. You get your points across so clearly and actually get your opponents to hear you. Your compassionate, patient, and intelligent arguments have helped me in talking to others about veganism as well. Thank you for doing what you do!
#VeganForLife ❤️
The part about plastic pollution and why they aren't talking about industrial fishing WAS addressed in the documentary....the guy checked all these environmental agencies donor list and alot of the them are funded by industrial fishing companies
Which is why that one lady FREAKED out when her PR director or whoever it was suggested cutting down on/cutting out fish consumption.
SeasPiracy turned my mindset been watching loads of other documenrories and at the point of fully going vegan
@J Lyon Thing is I find is that going vegan is different for everyone. Sometimes it really isn't for everyone and other times it can actually be really beneficial. I have personally found it beneficial for my health so it's different for everyone.
@J Lyon no, you don't need meat. Was your diet balanced? Did you supplement B12? Have you seen a dietitian? Did you have your blood test done?
@J Lyon @J Lyon nope, you're just wrong. Good luck with your cows milk and osteoporosis in 30 years tho. Just saying, you NEED to suplement vitamin D and b12 even if you're eating animal products. So your "any diet that requires a supplement" is just not true. Still, you haven't answered my question. Have you seen a dietitian? Are you a dietitian? if no, how the fuck would you know if your diet was balanced? Did you count the calories, the fats, the protein and the carbs? Vitamins and microelements?
@J Lyon and your blood tests? What about it?
In your words SIMPLY BE VEGAN! Thank you💚🙏 #seaspiracy so far best documentary of the year
@Maya Setlur So true, same with me, overnight 🥰
Why did the original video get privated?
Really nice video btw
I'm curious too, in the middle of watching it yesterday it became unavailable 🤔
It's common practice for content creators to re-edit and re-upload videos so they comply with RUclips's vague (to put it lightly) filters.
Well done ed , hope one day i can meet you and talk about so many things, hope you’re good
Why didn't they call it Conspira-sea?
Very glad to see you talk about this
Been needing this video since the first day the documentary came out, thank you!
@Novus Ordo Oh you set that kid straight! Good job! Impressive.
@Novus Ordo Are you in that video?? Are you Asian? I thought you might be Italian or Spanish...
@Novus Ordo BTW, I know that's your dream job!!
Don't listen to that mean Novus Ordo. He's having personal problems. I think he wants to be Vegan but probably got stuck at cheese. I think he is a Catholic too, who have a habbit of eating fish on Fridays (as you probably know) so it would be awkward for him to be having dinner with his parents and just having a carrot with his chips...
Anyway, good luck with your knew Vegan lifestyle!!
@Novus Ordo Well, why the hell didn't you say you were Russian????
I thought you were a r'tarded American!!!
Russia is a special country full of special people!!! Were you at the protests today???
Lovely English btw...
It's nice to see a vegan activist who stays polite and keeps going back to the evidence. I know there is *every* reason for getting wound up and emotional, but they can just wrote us off as hyterical
hippies then. Earthling Ed stays in the conversation but also doesn't let them off the hook with the facts. Great ambassador.
Another video where ed is verbally destroying the animal agriculture industry
Well done and beautifully said Ed. Thank you for using your voice to fight for our oceans and for fighting the needless killing of thousands of beautiful sentient beings.
In situations like this interview or the recent ExxonMobil interview by Unearthed, I feel like they should dump all the raw and uncut interviews online the same time they release the films. There is no way they can say it is out of context or manipulated if the entire footage is there for everyone to see.
What if someone sued the company that sells “dolphin safe” products for false advertising 👀
