You can be healthy as a vegan and unhealthy, but if you look at the foods that do the most destruction to our planet; beef is number one, then chicken, all of the top most damaging foods are animal products. To be fair I think coffee beans, and chocolate do a lot of damage too but beef is still number one. And we lose about 1000 acres of the amazon rainforest every day for animal agriculture. And vegans aren’t the only ones eating palm oil just because some of the vegan products have it in them. But look up the China study; it’s the largest study ever conducted on the effects of animal products on humans and it basically proved that animal products cause cancer, heart disease, and so many more diseases. I’ve never hated farmers I think if people realized they don’t need animal products to survive, or for taste pleasure, or if there were more vegan options at restaurants then they’d go vegan. DragonWarrior 74 Regarding the "vegan products" containing palm oil there are actually quite a few things to say. 1. There is a difference between a vegan product and a product marketed for vegans. A ton of products are "accidentally" vegan, such as Oreos for a well known exemple. 2. Even then, who do you think consummes more palm oil products, your average, omnivore person, or the vegan who by definition has to pay more attention to the products they buy? So when a ton of vegan products get bought each day by non-vegan, vegan should be held responsible for the impact those products have?
"To not warn about the dangers of palm oil makes vegans hypocritical". Classic case of moving the goalposts to discredit the idea behind a movement. The thing with palm oil is that it is not by itself unethical, unlike meat and dairy that simply cannot be obtained without an animal being exploited and suffering in the process. So yes it may be unsustainable, but do you think meat and dairy is? (Spoiler alert: it is not in the slightest). So vegans should prioritize palm oil prevention messages over the very real billions of animals killed each year for meat, eggs, dairy... ? If you really cared about those apes, don't you think reducing one of the (if not the) main causes of deforestation would have an even greater impact? Or maybe this, the vegans supposedly not being perfect (because they haven't made palm oil a priority) is just a disingenuous excuse for you to not try to do anything to solve the problems you obviously know exist.

@@mikeexits You should really stop spreading misinformation on the topic and maybe talk to some anticapitalists. Anarcho communism for example is a philosophy and system of stateless, voluntary redistribution of wealth and is what a lot of communists lean towards, other socialist policies, around the authoritarian level of Marxism, is quite centre, with about as much state intervention as Western democracy (consider Australias split socialised and private system in which if you don't pay for private Healthcare, you only get a 2% tax surcharge if you earn enough). Then you can consider the ussr, very authoritarian communism, and if you try to see through the capitalist propaganda, did fantastically economically, ridiculously well considering they were post revolutionary and war ravaged. Stalin did commit human rights violations on a huge scale, however these aren't inherent to the model, but are the reason I'm anti authoritarian (including the authoritarian elements of current Western democracy that sometimes do similarly). Have you consider that being born into poverty, having poor education and being stuck in a few low paying, only option jobs where the employers can and do exploit you as far as they are able is a kind of oppression and restriction of freedom, and that being *forced* to be part of a union that adovates for you as a worker may improve freedoms over all? Finally have a look into the way deaths were counted under communist regimes. It often includes things like hunger deaths in wartime famine. How many deaths do you think you'd count if you added up all of the capitalists starvation deaths because it wasn't profitable to redistribute food to them? There's a lot of great videos comparing the two out there apples for apples.
@@mikeexits do you think democracy doesn't have a huge death count. Like you just need to look at the coronavirus handling. A Marxist idea would have everyone's needs met and not worry about financial strain and would have a roof and being fed no one left hungry. Communism under Stalin is not even communism....
This is so accurate. I was the idiot who brought into the narrative that "vegans are extreme". Now I am a vegan who is in consistency of my 🐕dog love and animal love ♥️
Well there are some extreme people in every group. People shouldn't sabotage their group or message like that. Especially if your group is niche, not well known about, or going against the status quo. I do dislike the double standards of some people calling others extreme but pretend their group never is. Like how some people say alternative dress is extreme but most people don't hear or talk about things like Sophie Lancaster being killed for being goth. And that on Eleanor Neale's video of it, some comments said they were still getting assaulted for it.
I'm so tired of hearing the word extreme when I tell people I went vegan. I've been a vegetarian for a long time, but after seeing the truth about the dairy and egg industry I realised that just wasn't enough. I've been vegan for about a month now and I'm so happy I decided to change! But everytime I tell my friends or family they immediately say that veganism is extreme. They ask questions about why I do it and what I eat.. But when I start answering their questions they don't want to hear it.. Thanks Ed, your videos and way of explaining everything really made a huge impact and made my switch to veganism easy!
I dislike the fakeness of some people pretending to ask questions, like why are you vegan, but it was really criticism against veganism. Sometimes their tone is condescending too. This vegan woman just tells people "because I want to" because she knows many of them are disingenuous, or just want to be close-minded or fight. Also, some people think vegans don't really want to be vegan or are happy being vegan but are brainwashed to deny themselves.
In this case, its because they don't want to admit to their blatant foolishness, maybe it's the inhuman thing that they're really not wanting to admit to. Love n Blessings Family!!!
I've gone a few months not watching Ed's videos and i felt alienated in my struggle, that maybe i was too extreme. Watching this made me realize that, no, this is so worth fighting for.
I feel sick in the stomach when people says that vegans are dangerous . Like hellow? I am trying to be kind to everybody ,even you who is killing what I love ? 4months ago I watched Earthlings and became vegan overnight ,I don't understsnd how others don't ?
Because believes are often engrained in us in such a way that it feels like a part of your personality goes away if you decide to change your mind. Ultimately that doesn't make sense as all vegans can agree that they don't miss animal products (except for maybe the taste) at all, they've just adopted better values. Still that doesn't mean people still think they'd lose a part of themselves if they made such a drastic change
Exactly! A little more than 2 years ago, I watched a few short clips on what happens to the animals used for our consumption, and I quickly turned vegetarian and then after a short period of time, went vegan. To this day, I don't understand how people who claim to be good human beings, can continue to be anything but not vegan. It legitimately baffles me.
Nailed it once again. I've had people tell me I'm "aggressive" before I've even spoken to them, but that can be turned into a great opportunity in daily conversation too. Staying calm, polite and rational helps to break down that perception. It's always the best defence to stuff and sends people away thinking twice.
everyone has their own approach. ed's approach will be effective to a certain group and will reach them in a unique way that noone else will. different approaches reach different people differently. thats why its so important that we all use *our own* approach and in turn all the different groups of non vegans can be reached because people react differently to different stimuli.
I love earthling ed as much as the next person. But let's not resort to unnecessary idolising. There are plenty of other vegans fighting the good fight and making an impact
@Mountain lion By that logic then go hunt ur own food or raise it cause that's natural. Thousands of livestock shoved in together in their shit, eating filler grains with little to no diversity within their diet isn't natural. I mean if u can buy local or a homestead nearby that's preferable.
Ed won't stop making videos. He has stopped any vegan diet he was previously on though. He looks far less emaciated than he did a few years ago. Definitely eating animal fats and proteins now. But vegans are an easy audience and he's getting rich from donations and sponsors, so why stop right? Con those vegans.

i’ve always felt this way. i get made fun of all the time for my veganism, yet when i fire back with facts about health/ethics/environment, they get triggered every time. they know deep down that it’s wrong but their choice to hold on to conditioned beliefs causes anger and frustration that they just don’t understand.

So leather coats, furniture etc = no buy, food obviously no buy, any products like cosmetics tested on animals = no buy. Its all that type of stuff. If you're only concerned about food your plant based but veganism goes further
I have been vegan for four years now and recently I've been showing my partner your videos to educate him. Thank you for all you do, you are truly making a difference!
@Mountain lion because a lot of people live their lives not knowing the truth about these big corporations and farms that don’t treat their animals kindly. A lot of people haven’t ever thought to make a strong connection between meat on a plate and an animal on a farm living it’s life. For my partner especially he is really into the environment and this guys videos have showed him some of the connections between veganism and what it does environmentally. Some meat eaters know all of this and are okay with all the facts. My boyfriend just didn’t think of some of these reasons why people are vegan and now he knows. Hope that helps :)!
@Mountain lion I use the word educate all the time for many different things. I’m sorry you’re offended by that word. I get what you mean, some vegans act like they’re better than everyone else. I’ve been vegan since 15 so it’s just been a lifestyle for me all these years and my boyfriend is interested. I do feel for the animals but I also know shaming people won’t fix anything or make the world better
I remember seeing an Australian news segment once about ARAs "stealing" animals from farms, and they clip they played was literally a scene from Dominion showing dairy farmers seperating calves from their mothers.
Here in Brazil, the main source of money is dairy and meat industry. I'd love to show this video to lots of people. Does anyone know how can we help with the subtitles? I really want an option for PT-BR!
Your production quality keeps getting better. You deliver hard hitting facts with such grace and precision. You really are an example to each and every one of us in the vegan community. I'm not an activist myself but a plant scientist and I really do believe that our best chance for a future we can all enjoy is a plant powered one!
The powers that shouldn't be would almost certainly not let him do a lot of good. Corruption is inherent in a system where small numbers of people have vast powers, whether through politics or economics.
@Southy how do you know it's not a joke if you cant even tell when it is? It's kinda half and half, he obviously wont be prime minister but he's someone good to look up to as an idol
This was beautifully put! I never realized the amount of lies spread until I started actually researching veganism, then nutrition. It's mind boggling. But because truth and science stands on the vegan side we know that it's only a matter of time before we see huge changes xoxo!
@Mountain lion False, but even if that were true, it's still better than looking like you ate the concentration camp. Rather not have your heart disease risk either.
@Mountain lion Cholesterol and fat is what you lot love to eat. All that oily bacon with burger grease is clogging not only your arteries but also your brain. lol
@Mountain lion 🥑 is healthier than bacon/burger grease and vein clogging cholesterol, but don't take my word for it. Go ahead, eat like the obese Westerners. It's your hospital bill. lol
Whilst I haven’t explored the subject fully I have utmost respect for Ed’s style of narration and debate (in other video). He is respectful, factual and patient and gets one to at least pause and think. Well done mate. We could all certainly learn from you.
It’s absolutely incredible to realize the same people that are saying eating meat, eggs, and dairy are good for you, are the same people that said smoking was good for you. When will we learn?
Same people, or same media organizations? I doubt the people promoting cigarettes back in the mid-20th century are currently saying meat is healthy in the same lamestream media. Same media companies though? I can totally see that.
Southy agree to disagree. You think there are health benefits to eating animals because you’ve been told that by doctors and main stream media that is fueled by big agriculture, big pharmaceutical, and big chemical that are all getting filthy rich on your closed mindedness. Become enlightened and go vegan. See for yourself the true health benefits. But most of all see for yourself a plate full of food that doesn’t include the torture and murder of billions of animals every year.
Mikeureko not the same actual doctors because they’re probably dead from cancer related illnesses. But still doctors will claim that eating meat is healthy. And they’ll claim that because they too are in the pocket of big pharmaceutical. Please don’t take things so literally.
I was trying to watch this video while my dad was in the room, he asked if i was in a cult, then we got into an argument of whether compassion for animals is a cult or if murder for meat is a cult... We came to an understanding, it just sucks that we have to go through disagreements with our family members and almost be ostracized because of how we see things and how we look at unneeded death and suffering of other living beings..

This randomly came up on my homepage and I'm glad it did. I'm not a vegan, or even vegetarian. I've grown up on an organic meat/crop farm, and therefore my parents have obviously normalised eating meat. I know for a fact that we treated the animals with uttermost care, but of course at the end of the day, they were only there for one purpose. Due to growing up in the country, I was also involved in shooting/hunting from a young age, which further normalised using animals for food. I was out shooting pigeons earlier this year and about one hour into the session I got one. For some reason, since the moment that bird hit the ground, I have been thinking very often about the ethics of using animal products, even those that are organic, or harvested through hunting. I went through the rest of the day purposefully missing the birds as they flew over. And now I am so unsure on what to do moving forward. I love meat, and have grown up this certain way, but now I am so conflicted...
Vegananda Yes, it is all three of those things, and possibly more which I have yet to truly determine. I will be leaving home soon (I’m still young), so that will make things much easier to deal with because of my independence. I will definitely look more into this, I’ve been meaning to for a few months now. Thank you for your kindness.
@@jamesthorogood1479 Even though you're not vegan, I'm so glad that you have realized the reality. Please consider veganism in the future. It's good for you, the planet, and the animals. But make sure you research about nutrition first (it's really important!) and watch a few documentaries. Thanks for considering the change!
Again so well put together Ed and very clear and to the point. Great summary too with David Mitchell's quote at the end. You are definitely helping more people think about veganism. You are very much appreciated.
That context of how movements in the past were viewed as extremist is very important to keep in mind. We should never be justifying things with the premise that we've always done them - we should always be working towards a better world!
@I invented Google yeah!! like (for example)people are so angry at PETA for literally acting against animal cruelty? like?? and they still say "I loove animals, don't get me wrong, but..."
Or just want to be left alone. A coworker tried to initiate a very passive aggressive debate with me about why I was vegan and it slowly began to dawn on me that this debate wasn't about why I don't eat animal products. It was about my coworker questioning why they themselves consumed animal products, so they needed to find a way to prove me wrong. There's a video series called, "Why Are You So Angry," that I feel pretty accurately surmises why people lash out when their lifestyle is brought into question, even if it wasn't literally questioned by anyone. I never told my coworker they were wrong or shamed them for eating animals. My existence was all they needed to be confronted by the idea, "If they're right, what does that say about me?" tl;dr Even environmentalists get death threats just for doing a better job at leaving less of a carbon footprint than the rest of us. When people lash out at you, try not to take it too personally, because odds are, it's not about you.
You always put perfectly into words what I myself want to but wouldn't be able to phrase so eloquently (Sorry english isn't my first language) . Thank you for everything you do. You are on of the reasons I became vegan over night in february this year. Keep doing what you do.

I see the ad hominem attack all the time, for vegans, BLM protests..etc. they find negative off the books, fringe reports that are the exception not the norm and try to sell that to the masses as a generalisation of what all in the group do. Keep the truth coming ED.
Yeah, so true... The "there were these few people that were aggressive and they said they supported BLM so that means BLM is a terrorist organisation" So rediculous
Ed I am so touched by the fact that you are not only incredibly knowledgeable but you always deliver your message so gently and with a calm demeaner . Thank you for the example that you are.
Mikeureko Capitalism killed and kills far more.
@@perplexedon9834 interested in the death comparison is there an author or professional to look at?
Ed, I have a confession to make: I love you
I hope I can meet you one day.
You are my favorite superhero
Literally
mood
yea i never knew heroes existed for 27 years until i met vegans,, i used to believe into the corrupt medias narative
Its easier to fool people than convince them they have been fooled
In this case, its because they don't want to admit to their blatant foolishness, maybe it's the inhuman thing that they're really not wanting to admit to.
Love n Blessings Family!!!
I've gone a few months not watching Ed's videos and i felt alienated in my struggle, that maybe i was too extreme. Watching this made me realize that, no, this is so worth fighting for.
It's worth it. Just be careful in what is effective.
In addition to the message, can we also acknowledge the incredible production quality on Ed's video as of late?
Yes, he's certainly upped his game and it makes a big difference.
Your in the honey moon period at the moment, give it time and you'll be back eating meat in no time as your body starts crying out for it 👍
Veganism is a delusional religion. It's dangerous
They lack intelligence !
So extreme to not kill animals .. 🤷
#VeganForLife 👌
Thanas Stefanis V wait are you telling us to kill animals or not? I am confused.
Derby Kirby he’s being sarcastic.
Dude if science says that all forms of natural things have lives then wouldn't that mean were hurting plants aswell
Nailed it once again. I've had people tell me I'm "aggressive" before I've even spoken to them, but that can be turned into a great opportunity in daily conversation too. Staying calm, polite and rational helps to break down that perception. It's always the best defence to stuff and sends people away thinking twice.
Thank you Ed!
Because of you I don't feel uncomfortable, arguing with people why I'm vegan!
Ed is TOP NOTCH at teaching people how to compassionately but strongly debate. He’s excellent at what he does! ❤️

Earthling ed you are the most important human on the planet right now.
lefteris1976 this Jesus hippe messiah? For real?
everyone has their own approach. ed's approach will be effective to a certain group and will reach them in a unique way that noone else will. different approaches reach different people differently. thats why its so important that we all use *our own* approach and in turn all the different groups of non vegans can be reached because people react differently to different stimuli.
I love earthling ed as much as the next person. But let's not resort to unnecessary idolising. There are plenty of other vegans fighting the good fight and making an impact

@Mountain lion Well you are a mountain lion after all, you can keep eating meat.
@Mountain lion By that logic then go hunt ur own food or raise it cause that's natural. Thousands of livestock shoved in together in their shit, eating filler grains with little to no diversity within their diet isn't natural. I mean if u can buy local or a homestead nearby that's preferable.
I agree and only wish I was raised and accepted veganism, then.

i’ve always felt this way. i get made fun of all the time for my veganism, yet when i fire back with facts about health/ethics/environment, they get triggered every time. they know deep down that it’s wrong but their choice to hold on to conditioned beliefs causes anger and frustration that they just don’t understand.
veganism is an ideology so no. plant based sure.

@@heindattel3919 its not really hard if you google the definition. They dont eat, buy, wear anything that has been taken on or tested on animals.
@Mountain lion ur giving me a stroke im not even a vegan but ur comments make wanna become one.
Keep the messages flowing, even if one person changes, it will make a difference. Keep up the good work.
I think it so interesting how bias the media is and how vegan are portrayed negatively
THIS NEEDED TO BE SAID!!!!
I remember seeing an Australian news segment once about ARAs "stealing" animals from farms, and they clip they played was literally a scene from Dominion showing dairy farmers seperating calves from their mothers.
Ahh, I’ve seen it too. It’s ridiculous.
The irony of that, damn.
That means they knew that separating calves from their mothers didn't look right...
Worth remembering that despite the mainstream media pushback, there are strong signs that we are winning in the long run
We most certainly are!

Same people who were pro-slavery and HAVE slaves, and write "All men are created equal..." 🤷♀️
Same people, or same media organizations? I doubt the people promoting cigarettes back in the mid-20th century are currently saying meat is healthy in the same lamestream media.
Same media companies though? I can totally see that.
Same with alcohol.
This is top-notch quality. You are underrated. Veganism is underrated. World is blind.
You're so good at this Ed. Respect.
I don't know how can you make a video more informative than an entire documentary. This was a great piece keep at it.
Yes, the media is extremely good at shaping perceptions.
Excellent video Ed.
We must just keep getting the truth out there🌱
I was trying to watch this video while my dad was in the room, he asked if i was in a cult, then we got into an argument of whether compassion for animals is a cult or if murder for meat is a cult...

Literally vegans get attacked the most we just want people to listennn
My existence was all they needed to be confronted by the idea, "If they're right, what does that say about me?"
tl;dr Even environmentalists get death threats just for doing a better job at leaving less of a carbon footprint than the rest of us. When people lash out at you, try not to take it too personally, because odds are, it's not about you.
