Joe isn't afraid of debates, however that isn't what his show is for. His podcasts are more about enjoying a casual, informative conversation, and debates only happen when they arise organically. I love Ed, but Joe's podcast doesn't seem the right platform for him as it would most likely turn into a heated debate (which just isn't what Joe's podcast is for).

I Know it can be annoying, all those vegans talking "non sense"... but try it out man, we weren't made for causing so much suffering, we are beings of love, and we should take care of this world and our earth brothers with our inteligence, thank you for reading and i hope you have a great day

@@gabrielrosa1112 Our long violent history really paints a different picture. Our natural inclination is to take care of our own and exploit those who are not, just like any other predator. Maybe we are trying to unlearn this, but as you can see fighting against nature really hasn't been good for the world.
overpopulation, tech/industrial advancement etc. Now I'm not being negative, but we need to see things for what they are.
I was vegan for 5 years, bought into it heavily, tracked nutrition and gripped the ideology with white knuckles. It brought me nothing but suffering in the end. At the end of the day it was me or veganism, one of us was losing.

    • @gabrielrosa1112

@@doctorscientist3991 violence and territory defense isn't a predator trait, far from that, these instincts are found in pratically all of the animal kingdom.
Something that we do have is a trait that only we can express, we are the only animals who are able to care about other species... we might hurt them, but we are still learning how to use this power, one day i believe we will have a beneficial symbiotic relationship with every living being on this planet, we have the potential for that :)
I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with veganism, i hope maybe one day you can get back to it in a healthier way :)

      @@gabrielrosa1112 Predator: 1.
an animal that naturally preys on others.
You seem to be purposefully forgetting things to fit your worldview. Territory defence is a byproduct of invasion by other humans. Poaching, slavery..
Also, the ability to care for species other than there own has been documented in several species, it obvious now your just speaking outta your ass.
If you happen to come across a way of eating healthier than a vegan wholefoods diet tracked on chronometer, let me know. As far as I can tell that is whats preached as the gold standard. As of now adding in well sourced animal products was almost in instant fix, have literally never felt better. Funny that.

This aversion towards hunting is like a rejection of all our history. And I will not participate on this.
Everything you do is just: Killing animals bad. Killing animals bad....
It starts to be really annoying.

I remember my own thought process when I made the decision to move to a vegan lifestyle. I had just sworn off factory farm derived products and I was still deciding if hunting or fishing my own meats was still on the table. I went back and forth with various arguments but kept landing on 2 questions that would not move.
    1. Do I need to consume meat or fish to survive?
No, there are vegans everywhere these days and have been around for years and they're both strong and healthy, just like anyone else.
    2. Should I be a part of the life and death of an animal when I lead an existence far removed and insulated from the natural world where my own life is almost never at stake (or at the very least almost never under threat of being ended by a wild animal)?
This was a question I had to answer for myself and I didn't like the idea of going out into the wild to go kill things to eat, especially given how I didn't need to. (so no, duh)
Given those 2 answers, it was then the only logical conclusion that I attempt to embrace a vegan lifestyle.
That day was about 2 months ago as of this moment and I feel like changing my diet and lifestyle has been a positive experience in almost every aspect. I feel healthier now than I have in years and I hope to stick with this change for the long run.

@@thewhat531 I really REALLY doubt that is the case. Joe is open-minded for many things, he for sure understands that there is something extremely wrong with modern farming methods of meat & fish, he gets it. But from a dietary perspective he also gets it, he understands the thousands & thousands of years of human history/development eating Meat & Fish. Even ancient cave paintings depict men hunting animals with bow & arrow and spears. Ed conveniently neglects the fact native tribes of the Americas (North/South) African tribes, South East Asian Tribes and Inuit Tribes STILL hunt animals for food. THus proving that it is clearly in our human nature to do so. Also from the dietary perspective Veganism is a very new & very modern experiment. Try and find many super athletes out there who has been Vegan SINCE BIRTH and you will be looking a very long time. Can one survive on a Vegan diet? Yes. Can one thrive on a Vegan diet? No or Inconclusive.

Steve Chan no I don’t believe all meat eaters are psychopaths! Most of them couldn’t kill an animal themselves or even watch how their meat is made! I do however believe that trophy hunters are psychopaths which I understand to mean having no feelings and lacking of empathy. Killing these magnificent animals, smiling for a picture next to it’s dead body and taking a ‘trophy’ home is cold and evil behaviour.

Yes, in a vegan point of view it's the same thing. But most people who follow an omnivorous diet do not have the same disgusting views towards torturing and murdering animals that hunters do. They still have the brainwashed ideas that their meat is somehow made humanely and is required for their health and wellbeing. Don't make that out to be the same. Psychopathic murderers and hunters have A LOT in common in how they self admire the horror they commit while having ZERO sense of guilt for the life of wild animals.

The following satirical editorial appeared in The Oakland Post (Michigan) on November 19, 1997.
Boy: O Wise Hunter, how can I learn to respect animals and to respect life?
Hunter: Buy a rifle and get a hunting license. Then hunt down the animals and kill them.
Boy: And that will help me attain a respect for animals and for life?
Hunter: Yes, of course it will, boy. Plus, if you go hunting with your father or your grandfather, then you can really bond with them.
Boy: But couldn't I bond with them at a baseball game or at an amusement park?
Hunter: I guess so. But then you couldn't kill anything.
Boy: O Wise Hunter, what happens to some of the deer during the winter?
Hunter: Well, some of the weak ones starve to death. And that's a very cruel way to die. So-instead-hunters shoot some deer, cut off their heads for trophies, dismember their bodies and eat their flesh in order to save them from the cruelties.
Boy: But, uh, uh, how come hunters never shoot starving deer, only big healthy ones?
Hunter: Uh, uh, uh, boy. Now you just keep quiet about that.
Boy: And another thing, Wise One, if hunters were really concerned about starving animals, wouldn't they feed them?
Hunter: Let me get this right, boy. You're saying that we should be feeding starving deer-instead of killing them? But...
Boy: Is it true, Wise Hunter, that deer-car accidents have more than tripled over the past 30 years?
    Hunter: Well, uh, yeah.
Boy: But I thought hunters killed deer in order to reduce the herd so deer-car accidents would decrease.
Hunter: Well, uh, you sure ask a lot of questions, boy.
Boy: O Wise Hunter, how come the Department of Natural Resources always promotes the killing of animals?
Hunter: Well, just between you and me, the hunting community and the DNR are allies. You know, real good buddies.
Boy: You mean most of the people who work for the DNR hunt?
Hunter: Yes, of course, boy. And those fees from the hunting licenses-around 90 percent of that money goes toward the hiring of DNR officers and the marketing of programs to recruit young people, like yourself, into the hunting community.
Boy: What about the commission that oversees the DNR in Michigan?
Hunter: You mean the Natural Resources Commission?
    Boy: Yes, Wise Hunter.
Hunter: Well, uh, eight of the nine commissioners 'live to hunt and hunt to live!'
Boy: Ohhh. You mean, people who hunt make decisions about the fate of wild animals?
Hunter: Now, now, boy. You just keep that bit of information to yourself.
Boy: Would hunters ever try to conserve some of the land if they couldn't hunt on it?
Hunter: Let me get this right, boy. You mean, we should just conserve some of the land and some of the animals that live on that land for the heck of it. With no killing. Uh, that would be a pretty kind gesture of humanity.
Boy: I know, Wise Hunter, I know.
    Hunter: Well, uhhh...
Boy: O Wise Hunter, how can I help advance the, uh, sport of hunting?
Hunter: Tell people to have compassion for hunters.
Boy: You mean tell people to have compassion for those who have no compassion?
    Hunter: Yes, boy.
Boy: But, uh, wise hunter, these things you say make no sense.
Hunter: I know, boy, I know. But if we say these things enough, the public will eventually believe us and then they will make sense.
    Boy: Ohhh!

I've watched a TON of vegan vs hunters and the level of respect that they have for animals, the ocean/land, and other people is drastic. They aren't condensing, they take the time to understand their impact and how we can be more locally sustainable. Like this whole video is about tearing down whole groups of people who spend so much time energy and effort preparing for the hunt to make a difference in what they are consuming. The native people of this land were warriors not cowards and they hunted to keep their tribe their community of people fed sustainably through growing, gathering and yes hunting and they did it for thousands of years.

I don't think many are arguing against that. How do you respect an animal if you're taking it's life unnecessarily? No animal wants to die, so you're murdering it. It belongs to a herd, a family, it has children and you're robbing them of their life. You could just eat something else if you wanted to. I've shot animals, watched them die, and for what? Important. I'm not sure about 'essential'. There were also tribal members who knew where to find edible roots and fruits and organised the annual movements, of the group, to be reliably successful. Meat would have been supplementary. We would not have been able to grow our population without the knowledge of more reliable food sources. You know - the stuff that couldn't run away or turn around and gore us to death. It was the gatherers that were the backbone of our evolution in the time when we didn't have a climate that was running as fast as an Auroch could.

It horrifies me how much so called 'traditional medicine', in some parts of world, has honed in on animal derived substances. Ancient, should know better, cultures don't understand that it's the plants that have the chemistry. I think universities, in the far east, should make their organic chemistry courses free of charge.
