It is disappointing that you advertise supplements in this way. Contrary to what you are implying, magnesium and other nutrients are very easily obtained from a vegan diet. Promoting such products may harm your credibility within the vegan community. Please promote a healthy vegan diet, not this!

"impossible meat tastes so much like real meat" yes, it's almost as though it was specifically designed by a team of scientists doing years of research with the explicit goal of making it taste like meat
I know right, unknowingly being a positive advertisement for it by making that statement
There is a little rabbithole concerning the heme-iron they use being originally taken from cows though
Tastes better. It has the same overall flavor but still lacks that unique tinge of flesh, and the smell, or stench. Mixed in with the herbs and spices. I'm guessing lab grown crap does have it.
Plant based imitations don't, which makes them straight up better.
@@HiddenStr3ngth I wouldn't trust Impossible Burger to be legitimately vegan with that patented ingredient in there. It's for non-vegans transitioning, so it definitely serves a purpose - the realer the better.
Well, there is that patented ingredient but it's certainly not human flesh. I wouldn't rule out animal blood, as these companies are in it to make money. But most vegans don't like to eat something too real anyway.
Of all the decisions and beliefs I hold, I had never thought that not feeding my daughter the flesh of slaughtered animals would be what caused my family to treat me terribly.
Sorry to hear that. The world is insane.
Same here. But my little girl is now a happy healthy 5 year old
I feel your pain my Family except my grandma treated me like a criminal Just because i went vegan. We Vegans have to stay strong and Support each other thats the only way to endure this irrational crazy world.

Meanwhile there is no conspiracy theory about how horrible the existence is of animals in the agriculture industry. How they suffer and have their lives taken from them. You would think knowing that reality would be enough to convince people that plant foods should be the answer.
There kind of is.
In the eyes of some of the people who just cannot face reality, veganism is exactly that.
A weird conspiracy.
The conspiracy theory is how humanely the animals are treated and how nutritious eating their flesh is. It's all lies, which is what a good conspiracy theory aims to expose.
Sadly, most omnivores are fearful of being an outsider and making that serious change...

People are addicted to misinformation. Science is too long-form for the modern mind.
I was at work today and my coworker was looking at my carton of almond milk and he said "I heard this stuff was really bad for you" and I said "oh yeah what specifically did you hear?" and he immediately got defensive and back-tracked. "you can drink your almond milk, I'm just saying, I'm not judging, etc" but when I said I was just against the spread of misinformation he left the room and didn't speak to me the rest of the night. Yikes.
Correct
I have reflected a lot on how much of what people know is learned by conversations starting with “I heard/hear…” and wow accurate or factual information seldom comes after those words. The whole “I heard it through the grapevine” is fun for gossip but it’s not how to learn science or facts.
@@nicolesapphire3696 this, exactly. anytime someone tells me something like this, I ask a specific question about it and they just have no idea what to say beyond the initial tagline. I try hard myself to not repeat things unless I've had a good briefing on the facts.

I've never seen someone do so much positive work for a cause. I feel like I could show any meat eater your videos and they couldn't possibly disagree because your logic is just so sound.

😂 💪🏽Me too. With too many superb pattie recipes to even try each in one lifetime, I have no need for the imitation of what I oppose.
Yeah, and that processed stuff can only impair our sanity end lead us back to meat.
Chickpea patties are A BANGER. I often make them for the whole family and they absolutely love them. Even the anti-vegan side of the family love them and praise them to be even better than the meat counterpart lol.
Merle O'Neal has a 4 burger recipe video, and the sweet potato/white bean burger is absolutely delicious.
Not to be that guy but I'm a very fussy eater underweight as it is. Chickpeas are vile, most vegetables don't taste great excluding the sweeter ones and I hate the tastes and texture of nuts. How on earth can people like me survive without eating animals? I'd be even further underweight and on tablets to stop me dying. I only eat TASTY stuff. Pizza, pasta, steaks, burgers, bacon, cheese on toast 😋 (obviously more as well) or ill gag and bring the food back up.
The face Alex Jones was making, is him internally calculating how much he would get sued by the company if he were to start spreading the misinformation that the Impossible meat is made out of missing children
This would be a pretty good conspiracy theory I must say 😂
Alex Jones is despised by many conspiracy theorists as a gatekeeper - not to mention how obnoxious he is and rude to his guests. he's also an avid hunter.

One of the frustrating things about Friends is that the character Phoebe is vegetarian and also believes in a lot of pseudoscientific BS, giving a bad connation to veganism like most sitcoms do.
Yep. How I Met Your Mother also went hard at making vegans look insane. It sucks when it's from a show I actually love
Sure, but it actually represents the problem Ed talks about in this video: Conspiracy Theorists are attracted to what is against the mainstream, and being vegetarian/vegan has been against mainstream for decades. Fortunately, things are changing! :)
Not to mention how the Simpsons, totally leaving out the issue of health, portrays vegetarianism as a pseudo ethical doctrine.
It’s not just for the pig that we refuse to barbecue, but our arteries!
If it had not been for the free thinkers who question the status quo there would not be any veganism.
Also, veganism is a strictly ethical and moral idea, not at all scientific. The scientific arguments for veganism is a very recent construct and really has no foundational basis for the ideology.
If you want to eat for your health or for the environment you might just as well go plant based and it will have the same impact.
@@henrikpetersson3463 Without nutrition and environmental science backing up veganism, you end up with people thinking that eating plants exclusively is gonna make you malnourished or cause greater destruction to the environment and animals than animal agriculture. There's free thinking and then there's outright science denial. I hope you're not mixing the two together.
I appreciate Ed so much. My husband works with folks who watch Fox news on the regular and initially turned their noses up at my vegan food and snacks. I sent in portions of everything for them to try - zero risk, zero cost. They love it! He also watched Ed to get info on talking points so he can advocate for veganism. Huge thanks to Ed for all of his research and how he presents information. ❤🌱
My family asks me everyday if I want to eat meat, I politely decline and say thank you. Honestly, just smelling it cooking this morning made me think of a rotting corpse of a wrongly murdered and innocent animal. The stench of the former is putrid and makes me wish to vomit. Getting pretty hard to be polite at this point, I want to look directly at them and be like, "do not ask me that EVER again, I don't eat corpses." The whole idea is just nauseating. Be glad when the meat eating becomes illegal.

The WEF endorsing plant based diets is a great way for them to turn people against veganism.
1980s: "I can't be vegan because my doctor told me it's bad for my health".
2020s: "I can't be vegan because my doctor told me it's good for my health".
Exactly.
It occurred to me as someone who went vegan in 1981 am I a sheeple or not for still thriving on the diet over 40 years later ...
@@yangtse55 "Sheeple" betrays such a contemptuous attitude towards those lovely animals. To me, people who use animal terms as insults lose their vegan card immediately.
If you were to come into this world anew you would think the biggest conspiracy ever is the animal agriculture industry.
I'd REALLY like to see Ed at the Pignorant protests.
We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace.

I've always been impressed with the scientific backing for plant based diets.
That was one of the best videos I’ve watched! I’ve been vegan for 8 years, but only very recently have I reformed an emotional connection to it. I’ve had an emotional connection to the climate for about 12 years. This ties the two together perfectly. I love the rationality in both of these movements. Anyone that’s against harmful conspiracies should join the fight against the fossil fuel and meat industries.
Be Vegan for the animals 💗💗💗
For a long time, I was wondering why there is so many spiritual vegans, because for me I became vegan because of the science.
I became vegan because of the reality.
Funny, I've been in Bali, the spiritual hub of the world, for over 7 months. And I've barely met any vegans. All my "higher frequency" acquaintances are devout meat eaters
Vegan is about the ANIMALS. Not science, not climate, not diet, not spirituality.
I've been wondering why there are so many atheistic vegans and why many are so far left who don't do well with critical thinking
I became more spiritual as a result of veganism.. can’t be spiritually connected to earth whilst willingly destroying it .
Important topic Ed, thanks
Ed, I’m so glad you’re speaking on this. Seeing fellow vegans fall prey to conspiracy theories and cults is something not enough people are willing to address because they think “as long as they’re vegan or promoting veganism they’re fine”. Like no. We need to notice this type of thing - it’s unhealthy for us and bad for the animals to let these ideas proliferate.
People fail to understand that you don’t have to eat any of the fake meats, burgers, junk food ect. Eat fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes. Those are the most abundant foods on earth. But somehow people always find excuse to eat animals.
Extreme adherence to a whole foods diet can actually be problematic. As vegans we should stop playing into the false rhetoric that faux meats or even vegan “junk” food are a huge problem, or something to be completely avoided, this just helps the anti vegan conspiracy theorists and carnivore diet quacks. Nutrition is complex and nuanced and having those faux meats help plenty of vegans remain vegan.
@@nicolesapphire3696 I personally don’t think it’s problematic. I’m a health conscious individual and I personally wouldn’t promote faux meat and junk. Healthy home cooked meals are way better for our health. That’s just a fact. It doesn’t mean we can’t get occasional vegan burger or pizza, but I personally don’t think those foods have nutritional value or any type of benefit in a long term health. Although I’m passionate about health&wellness I am vegan for the animals.
If a person goes vegan for moral and ethical reasons then they most likely will stay vegan forever. Those who do it for health, trends ect, they won’t last sadly.
Ed, you always get a standing ovation from me 👏 Brilliantly orchestrated! 💯
It would be interesting to see further exploration of the fear people have when it comes to change toward a vegan diet. What exactly are their reasons so we know how to address them. It’s really sad that people would rather continue to be comfortable and believe the lies they were sold by animal ag, food corps and government than to learn the science and prevent future chronic disease and illness.
Thank you for shedding light on this part of our community. I always cringe when seeing something like the alkaline diet.

Insanely well done! Yes, this type of thinking is growing, and I'm afraid it will get harder and harder to convince people to use logic and science as a basis for their knowledge. I fear for humanity...
@ed.winters I've just started reading your new book and absolutely love it! I bought 2 copies when i first heard about it. Im hoping it will give me the knowledge and the confidence to become more active in the movement. Keep up the great work!
Ed you need to drop ranting on about "conspiracy theorists" - I am one of those - that's the label you would attach to me as I actually question everything even the "experts"! But no, I won't start eating animals again just because Klaus Schwab would like us to be eating mealworm burgers (available in Lidl) - I don't believe in the exploitation and killing of animals. I do believe we have to support farmers to grow real food, in soil, where we actually relearn to care for this world and all the creatures in it. If you don't think there are agendas at work to control all aspects of our lives, you are very naive.
Excellent and succinctly written 👏
Mealworm burgers? Surely they are not classed as vegan ?
I've been on a raw vegan diet for more than 16-years. I adopted it following a cancer diagnosis, and the cancer went away without medical intervention. Didn't we once have this conversation, Ed? Anyway, I certainly feel no compulsion towards animal based foods.

Totally, I love Ed for what he's good at but this video is corny, using the wildest statements he can find to generalise about this practically non-existent 'conspiracy theorist' stereotype he likes to mock. Everyone's a 'conspiracy theorist' - I've never met anyone who thinks we don't get lied to. Some people have a robotic fixation on science and rationality, both of which are fine and needed but intuition and instinct are a part of life too.

As a vegan, Ed please stick to what you know and understand. You're area is veganism. You can say what you want about medical medium but I personally know several people who have healed themselves from different diseases by following his advice including myself. Most people are like you...they get a lot of recognition and praise for their work then they start speaking on other areas as if they're experts on it. Jordan Peterson did the same talking nonsense about veganism when he should just stick to his area of expertise. You know veganism and present it in a strong convincing way but that doesn't mean you're correct or very logical in other areas. Being an atheist for example and believing in the fairy tale that countless complex life forms evolve from single celled organism and that simply put everything ultimately comes from nothing.
Indeed, I've listened to some of his videos when he articulates the compassionate arguments for veganism very well but alas he has shown his absolute lack of knowledge on so many other issues here. I can only guess he used Wikipedia and Google to do his 'research'. Sad really.
I love you for your vegan outreach and appreciate your achievements in this field, but concerning other topics I recommend you to not believe the hype, to me your talking points sound more and more like the woke ideology, leftist bullshit, socialist mentality of the mainstream, please think about it, most conspiracy theories turn out to be right, the world is controlled by crazy groups of people etc. I wish you re-concentrate on the most important topic of all - VEGANISM

@@tamcon72 he is German, its normal in Germany, to have similar views like that. Its pretty mainstream and many Germans think that majority of conspiracys turned out right.
Many people in Germany sadly can't read and understand scientific studies and people are generally very sceptical about many aspects of society.
And he doesn't understand that many big cooperations he is afraid of actually are spreading them, like the meat industry for example.
And somehow many gernans need to make anything political for some reason and see something as leftwing or woke or rightwing nazi etc..., without the person ever talking about politics.

Stay in centre (truly sceptical), you are going too far to the other side, the true middle path is always the best. This is a classical fallacy; over correction. One is a leftist communist as a youth, and than as an old man - one becomes far right poltically in one`s views; Aristotle pointed this out 2400 years ago, stay balanced. Sadly, science (though still preferable to opinions, to be sure) is also full of conspiracies, illogic and cognitive biases, well documented, to be sure.

13:50 this is why it's so important that vegans talk about these extremists
Thanks Ed
Thank you 🙏💚
Spot on. Except I do very much love a visit to my science-embracing chiropractor! Glad Complement is sponsoring!
Really well done! Earthling to earthling 🖖
Great content!
I met Tim in the week before his fated water fast, at a vegan festival in Brighton. The odd thing was I was also going to do a 5 day water fast the very next week. I did fast and stopped after 5 days as planned and low and behold, I'm still vegan. 👍
Fast or don't fast. You are biologically an omnivore.
@@pacmanmcgavin7034 which, by definition, means, I don't need to eat sentient beings.
Not true for the collective. Upwards og 80% quit due to health complications.@@Human_Herbivore
@@pacmanmcgavin7034 no, we know none of them quit due to health. We also know that there was no distinction drawn between vegans, vegetarians and even people who just ate no meat for a couple of weeks then ate it again. The Faunalytics data didn't even say how many vegans there was, so, it could even be none.
Please don't be fooled by false representation of what actually happened.
Very well done. A lot of people who "go vegan" are just doing it as an experiment for a few weeks (such as during Veganuary) and/or quit because of shallow reasons like social pressure (which is the number one reason people stop). Both of which completely skew the "how many people stay vegan" figures. Well done for not being shallow, and for taking ethics seriously. Great job. 👍
This really has nothing to do with the video here and you likely hear this a lot, but your channel and videos are what convinced me to go from vegetarian to full on vegan. Since my current lifestyle has been aiming towards the reduction of harm towards all living beings, vegan fits right in with it and the transition was actually incredibly easy.
Your arguments and calmness really put things into a new perspective and I haven't seen many ever do this in a similar fashion. Keep up the good work and I wish all the best to you!
Thank you for supporting BASF , Bayer AG , Syngenta and the many others.
I’m sure they are grateful to you for making the leap from vegetarian to veganism, and now even vegan Activist.
Best wishes.
@@tom4412I would love for you to explain, if you have the time and will to do such, so that I understand properly what your comment means.
@@TheZiros Being vegan you are supporting BASF, Bayer AG, Syngenta more than the Other 99.9 percent of the population that isn’t a Vegan Activist.
Are you being paid to promote those and other corporations that manufacture Herbicides pesticides insecticides and fungicides. And then there’s the manufacturing of artificial fertilisers.
It’s fair to say that in this age, fruit, vegetable and cereal growing relies heavily on artificial chemical production.
This is very damaging to the environment.
BLM- bug lives matter.
This hurts my head. It's just so ridiculous. Thanks for talking about it.
Loved it. We needed this video.
Thank you for what you do, Ed ❤
I'm surprised you actually did it! There's this old tactic used by sophists-when someone raises a valid concern about flying widgets, they introduce a radical who not only shares the same view but also spouts a bunch of nonsense (the shouting lune). clever propaganda, It's a strategy known as "poisoning the well."
On another note:
Currently, we're at around 400 parts per million (ppm) of CO2, which seems small compared to historical periods when both animal and plant growth boomed at ratios closer to 4000 ppm. It's interesting to note that commercial indoor plant growers often increase CO2 levels to about 1200 ppm to significantly boost plant growth.
You may criticize raw veganism but one thing is for sure, it works miracles for oral hygiene.
Raw vegan here for almost 8 years now, cured me of my crippling psoriasis and i've been flying high since. I can appreciate the work Ed is trying to do but he seems like a rigid believer in scientism and I don't care for any gatekeeping of anything "fringe" because scientism says no no. Believe me I've been through the ringer of "whole foods vegan" cooked garbage for many years trying to find answers to my problems, none of it worked until I found John Rose and found the real solution to health.
Thank you for this extremely important video
Great video! Terribly overlooked subject. The amount of people that assume I am a hippy dippy, woo woo, "Alternative lifestyle" person when they find out I'm vegan is really annoying.
Couldn’t have said it better myself! Grounding our beliefs in science is so important and the vegan movement won’t be taken seriously if we don’t continue to do that! ✌️
Thank you 💜
Spot on. Vegans are called to be compassionate AND rational. In fact, compassion without reason often turns into some version of hate or harm
