In Switzerland, the public can issue a complaint to a complaints office if the tax-funded broadcasting doesn't do its job right. Does this exist in the UK? In this case, I would complain about the spreading of gross misinformation.
@@fishfeelpain7764 We have a thing called Ofcom in the UK. Not sure what, if anything, they can do to rectify the complete nonsense presented in the ITV program. I've already sent off my complaint, for what it's worth.
Anything vegan related on This Morning has always been poorly represented. They never let vegan activists speak/ always try and navigate the conversation to something negative. It always infuriated me. The dig at plant milks was a major eye roll.

“Defending the word MILK” 🙄 how pathetic. Why not defend somethin worthwhile, defend something that matters and defend the cows instead of a crying over a word. A word that has been used in various ways for years without issue, til plant milks started becoming more popular and profitable, and dairy farmers started getting nervous...
they dramatically say “defending the word MILK” and "MILK only comes from MAMMALS" while coconut milk has literally existed since forever. But they never cared about that, they suddenly care about it now only because people are realizing how horrible and cruel (+ how environmentally destructive) the dairy industry is and they're ditching dairy for plant milk alternatives. And the more plant milk alternatives and veganism get popular, the more these lies and nonsensical rubbish get shouted from dairy supporters.
I asked the lady in greggs today while I ordered a soya latte why she thought it was normal to drink milk designed for a baby cow, I said "well It's just not normal is it, drinking breast milk from another animal" she looked so shocked 🤣

I am amazed how manic she was in that segment. The dairy industry clearly slipped her some money and wheeled her in to try a hit piece on dairy-free alternatives. Her tone seemed as desperate as the industry that paid her.

Agreed. I wouldn’t have a problem at all with a show that just did a taste testing of different plant based milks. But, when they start “reporting” on alleged environmental and health impacts, they should have experts in those areas, not some random woman that will probably be an “expert” on something totally unrelated in the next show.
Exactly! I mean, she actually started the segment with the words "on behalf of dairy farmers everywhere, these are not milks, they are defending the word milk. Milk is from a mammal. These are drinks" . If you are a consumer expert, as you claim, why start your segment with these words? And she, and the shows' producers/hosts expect us to believe anything that comes outta her gab about plant milks? She works FOR THE DAIRY INDUSTRY. Period.

Exactly! We as humans created the identity of what a sausage, milk or burger is as a consumable product and therefore we can decide how we define it and use it. It's not like a sausage is the name given to a part of an animal, such as a chicken wing or beak and therefore the argument for vegans to not use the term is irrelevant and childish. I can somewhat understand the argument of milk as it typically has been used to explain the substance that comes out of the glands of mammals but really, milk is a liquid containing fat and protein , sausage is a long piece of a compressed edible substance and a burger is a flat round piece of, again, compacted and flattened substance, lol. It's not like it is a part of a body and therefore cannot be used interchangeably.
I am waiting for some of the wiser kids to stand up and say something in the lines of:
Who bloody cares? How do you expect consumers to easily find replacements for animal products if the seller is not even allowed to mention what a product is replacing?😤

Actually that's a great idea. If a lot of people send complaints while pointing out all the hypocrisy, misinformation and wrong data they keep on spewing, something might happen.... maybe.

We know animals are killed in crop production, deliberately and unintentionally, we aren't daft and the point of veganism is to minimise as much as possible the killing of animals. More crops are used to farm animals, so even more animals are killed in that higher volume of crops PLUS the farm animals. Why kill when it's avoidable?

I actually don't understand the point of the segment other than a subliminal plug for dairy: "Here's some plant milks, but you should drink dairy because here are some problems with plant milks that we completely made up."

Bibles says it’s okay to eat meat & Israelites write their promised land was flowing with milk & honey.
It is a concern on where they choose to grow those almonds, I will admit. California has a serious water problem. On that note, the way Nestle is just allowed to pull water out of the ground at almost no cost, and turn around and sell it in bottled water for a premium, or sell it to other countries, is another issue entirely.
Nestle are a god awful company, child labour and exploitation in almost every sense

It's so funny how in Germany every plant milk is forbidden to be called Milch =milk because it could confuse the customers. But Kokossnussmilch (coconut milk) is ok, because it was called like that far before the whole vegan movement started. Also Scheuermilch (cleaning agent), Sonnenmilch (sunscreen), or Mandelmilch (almond milk) in body lotion is ok...

Midway through this video, there was an advert with Miriam Margolyes talking about plant based milks and the dairy industry. I'm astounded tbh. There's impacts being made every single day. My own farming family have made small changes based on my example- I've chosen not to take the aggressive route with them- I don't want to risk alienation because I value my relationship with them over anything else, even animals lives if being honest. But they have over the past 2 years adopted plant based alternatives from time to time, which is a start.
What was Miriam promoting in the ad you saw?

I remember the days when I was unemployed. This morning served as a strong tranquilliser.
She just confirmed a bunch of peoples' biases. Sigh.
Dairy is terrible for women's health it seems. I really wish the idea that it's good for you wasn't pushed so hard when I was a kid and teen. My mom thought she was doing right by getting me to drink lots of milk growing up and I always hated it. It disgusted me. I also think it was the main source of my painful cystic acne in my teens. It sucks to hear that there are probably kids going through what I went through just because their parents are misguided.
dairy also contributes to reproductive system cancers and dysfunctions like endometriosis. can lead to needing hysterectomies.

This Morning's pro-dairy segment thinly disguised as a "balanced" look at alternatives. Very little hair left on my head after watching this.
I hate anything mainstream, the conditioning of most people is amazing to see!, trends , celebs, it's all part of a script that people follow who have no mind of their own!
What a shame and sell out for the BBC to be showing and promoting these lies with the cost of innocent Cows having to suffer.
